Bio

Reluctantly retired roleplayer.

Except when I'm not.

Why are you here when you should be writing posts?

You can edit a bad draft, but you cannot edit a blank page.

Related to the related, can one choose to not use an image at all (I just prefer to write descriptions, can provide spark notes version as needed)?

Not preferred but again allowed although your sheet is going to look very odd without an image.

This looks all well and good and I like most of what I see on main page and I've been following since close to post time ... but this has blown up way too big. It gets really uncomfortable trying to squeeze in and keep up with, at current count, as many as 14 people all chomping at the bit. Sorry.

I definitely understand that. I would honestly encourage you to hang in until acceptances are finalized but I can also understand not wanting to put the work in with so much competition.
For those of us whom want to use images to represent them, when it comes to costumes for our characters' hero/vigilante personas do we need to try to find original artwork or can we use comic book images? For example: Could someone use an image of the Human Torch to represent their PC who has similar abilities?

Also for my own clarification, the term antagonists in the Supporting Cast section means we can create few super villains for our PCs, yeah?

I would use comic images lightly but in the given example I could see why one would want to use the Human Torch but I would have to say no if the image was say Batman or Wolverine.

And yes, you are able to create a super villain to square off against.

Related question, I understand that anime art is disallowed but what about western-style comic-esque art?

Not my preference but allowed, yes.
Interested. :)

<Snipped quote by Lord Wraith>

In a flash of originality I want to write a cape that flies.

Essentially, Hawkgirl, except she'll be much cooler (no insane backstory about killing some Egyptian priest with her boyfriend) and have a name that's related to some other bird of prey.

I think it went the other way where the Egyptian Priest killed her and her boyfriend lol. But I can't remember whether that was just on the CW or also in the comics.

Either way, interested to see what you're cooking up.
Alchemist, huh?

So here are my general ideas...

First is a young punk that is actually an extraterrestrial, perhaps a teenage runaway from New Mexico. I'd like to strike a balance between "gribbly space monster" and "psychic invader" as far as his powerset goes, so I worry about him being too powerful/well rounded.

The other is a weird sort of half-vampire interested in dealing with monsters and magic. Not Blade as much as a John Constantine sort of "keep the balance" detective type.

Thoughts?

I'd personally prefer the first if only because the second is fairly similar to what I'm working on with my own character.
I'd like it to be at least a bit superpowery, but I'll consider it.

Alright up to you, but if you went towards the magic side of things you won't be alone I don't think.
I was considering only being able to imbue common chemical properties, and anything more unique both takes much longer and has to be learned either from prolonged exposure to a similar ability (such as getting buddy buddy with a speedster to learn how to make a potion that increases speed by 50%) or by investing blood from someone with a similar ability (but I understand if that part is a bit too morbid).

Feel free to use magic if you want to and fully embrace the alchemist angle. You don't need to necessarily try to make it a superpower.
Ok. I was thinking of bringing back a concept I had a while back. The Alchemist can imbue water with special properties like from acidity or "freezes on contact" to accelerated healing, but the process takes too long to be usable on the fly, so they bottle up useful brews and use them like potions or grenades. Also they own a coffee shop.

Otherwise I can think of a less abusable power.

It's a rather unique idea, I mean as long as your aware of how it can be abused and find a way to limit it so that it's not abused I'd be cool with it. Keep the ingredients rare for more potent brews etc.

Love the coffee shop angle.
That is... a lot of responses. Is there still room here?

I haven't done any official acceptances yet, so please feel free to express your interest. I also don't have a hard limit on how many players I'll be taking at this time as the RP does allow for players to do their own thing or work together away from my story and plots if desired.
Thinking of a support center character based around this description of distance(spatial) manipulation.

"User can create, shape and manipulate distance; a numerical description of how far apart objects are. In physics or everyday discussion, distance may refer to a physical length, or an estimation based on other criteria (e.g. "two counties over"). In mathematics, a distance function or metric is a generalization of the concept of physical distance.

Thus the user is able to manipulate how far objects are from each other, regardless of the other objects around them. For example: user can make two objects touch each other from different sides of the room, without having to move them; this could potentially allow one to bypass in-between obstacles. The user can also apply this to the surrounding structures, such as making a hallway potentially never ending, or reducing a gigantic room into a cramped space."

Depending on the upward limits you wish to impose, I can take this power to some pretty gnarly places.

Hmm, that's a unique power. Definitely could have some fun applications with it. In terms of upward limits, your powers should give you an advantage in a fight but I don't want any sort of 'One Man Armies'. Trying to think of a good example is hard as depending on the writer, most heroes are capable of some pretty big feats.
My interest has been piqued. Let the brainstorming begin!

Glad I tickled your interest bone.
