Bio

Current GM of World of Light. When it comes to writing, there's nothing I love more than imagination, engagement, and commitment. I'm always open to talk, suggestion, criticism, and collaboration. While I try to be as obliging, helpful, and courteous as possible, I have very little sympathy for ghosts, and anyone who'd like to string me along. Straightforwardness is all I ask for.

Looking for more personal details? I'm just some dude from the American south; software development is my job but games, writing, and trying to help others enjoy life are my passions. Been RPing for over a decade, starting waaaay back with humble beginnings on the Spore forum, so I know a thing or two, though I won't pretend to be an expert. If you're down for some fun, let's make something spectacular together.

In one move, the contest was decided. Verrine's Megahorn landed with full force, sending chips of rock flying. For a moment it seemed as if her attack, despite its size and the amount of energy put into it, wouldn't be able to topple Azerus' huge Rhyhorn, but Olivie held out hope. Her faith was rewarded as the groaned and slumped down, motes of dust flying into the air as its stubby legs rubbed across the ground before going still. She didn't wait for her opponent to withdraw his Pokemon, instead saying in an uncharacteristically low voice, ”Done aaaand done. Verrine, c'mere.” Dutifully the bug-type obeyed, shaking off the fractured remnants of her enlarged horn as she did. Its pieces fell away to reveal her natural horn beneath, with a surface marred but soon to heal. Olivie scooped her Pokemon up and swaddled her in a bear hug tight enough to make the Karrablast squirm. Her eyes closed and her mouth in a dazzling smile, Olivie told her, ”That was badass! And That's two knockouts in less than an hour. I knew I made the right choice.” The girl relinquished her hold and placed her friend on the ground, where Buck rushed up to give a chatter of congratulation. Olivie, meanwhile, turned her attention to the defeated.

They met eyes for the first time, and at last Olivie felt gratified. Here, she thought, was a tangible result of her new outlook on the world. Before she walloped this dude, he'd been more focused on her funbags than on her fighting prowess, but now he afforded her at least a little respect. If all my fights go this well, I'll be on the road to tons of people respecting me before long. Whilst thinking this she wore a smirk the whole time, but that expression tightened when Azerus, of all things, gave her a mischievous smile. He turned to leave, but as he did, he delivered a parting shot that made Olivies blood boil.

Balling her fists, she raised them and shouted after him, eyes scrunched closed, ”What!? No! I'm not cute! I'm a terrifyin' thug! I've broken boards by punchin' them! I fought three girls at once one time and whooped 'em all! You hear me!? I'll kick your ass!”

Her tirade ended abruptly as Verrine poked her leg with her horn. Olivie's eyes shot open and she realized she was blustering at nobody—Azerus had gone. A grating noise sounded out as she gnashed her teeth in frustration. ”The nerve! Not even that bozo Bernard called me cute! Uh, I mean, Barnie.” She looked down. On one side stood Buck, and on the other, with eyes wide and wondering, was Verrine, but she couldn't see her own feet at all. Olivie's expression melted into a convolution of grimace and pout. ”Cute's for little girls and pathetic stuff like squirrels and kittens, anyway. If anything, I'm 'seductive', right?” She glanced at her Pokemon, but their expressions indicated nothing but bafflement. Tossing her hair in subdued anger, she remembered that Gespenst still needed healing and started to walk. ”Huh...maybe it ain't the right word. Whatever. Soon enough, people are gonna be thinkin' about how strong I fight, not how I look.” With her Pokemon following on her heels, she approached the Pokemon Center's main door.

I've actually been thinking about joining a FATE RP. I really like the idea of taking historical figures and making them into anime characters. That said, I don't know anything much about it.
I sincerely hope there's a gamestop near where I live that has a physical copy of Sun in stock for me...

Down for the count! Chipped, battered, and beaten, the Roggenrola sagged to the ground before disappearing in a flash of light. Olivie and Gespenst shared a moment of elation, but rather than belt out another taunt at her opponent, the brunette took the opportunity to tell her Cacnea, “Don't celebrate just yet. Face down what's coming with nerves of steel.” A hint of resignation traveled through her voice. After all, despite his triumph, the grass-type was totally pooped. When Azerus' second Pokemon came in, he wouldn't be able to defend himself or to give a last-ditch attempt to take it down; he could only accept a knockout blow with a grim, stolid countenance.

The foregone conclusion came about even quicker than Olivie anticipated. Scarcely had the Roggenrola toppled over before its trainer replaced it, and unlike the ponytailed pebble that preceded it, the anarchist's Rhyhorn was huge. A flicker of disbelief passed over the brunette's face when she saw it appear and shake the ground as it landed. With an exterior of solid-looking rock plates, it seemed for all the world like a knight in stony armor, or a living fortress. It dwarfed Gespenst, and when it charged, there could be no course of action to be run down. Azerus' Rhyhorn trampled Olivie's Pokemon into the dust. It cleared a moment later thanks to the cheery Feyhollow breeze, but Gespenst looked just like a pumpkin that someone sat on. Suppressing her anger, Olivie retrieved him. ”You fought with nothing held back—your entire soul in the fight, and I'm proud.” She reached down and grabbed Verrine by the horn, causing her to freeze in surprise, before tossing the Karrablast forward. As indignant as she was after landing, Verrine realized that she'd been chosen to fight. As a cat staring at a mouse-hole, the bug-type stood still, watching her opponent calmly and critically.

Instead of immediately issuing an order, Olivie took a second to observe the opposition. As resolute as Azerus seemed, there was definitely something wrong with his Rhyhorn. Narrowing her eyes, the girl decided that, somehow, the big goon had already worn himself out. The revelation made her want to laugh. ”Well, that makes things simple. Verrine, take it down.” Her Karrablast, receiving no specific command, fell back on her instincts. Not dissimilar to the Rhyhorn, she lowered her head and began a charge of her own. Her horn became suffused with light green vapor, shaking violently until it exploded outward, doubling in size as it turned into a deadly prong. Megahorn extended, Verrine hopped into the air and began to spin like a drill straight for the Rhyhorn as she fell (3/6 EP).

@Balthazar007, I am interested in creating a location with some proximity to Feyhollow town, where people might consider visiting next. I am also thinking about giving the place an overriding mission that can occupy those who choose to go there. Should be fun. That fine by you?

On another note, I would recommend calling out the players who haven't posted in a good while. At the very least, it would be wise to mark them as 'inactive'.
@HereComesTheSnow could you please get in contact with this person you know who might have interest? After some thought, I have concluded that to get Asuras situated the best solution is making a new team.

On that note, anyone else have a hold of potentially interested people? The old waiting list is defunct.

@Pyrodash888 if you're on the hunt for eternal RPs, try Phoenix Wing, by Caits. That is an RP that will never die nor will ever have any trouble with people posting. It's been around about as long as this one, but it's gone through way more posts, players, and characters. There are next to no limits and few standards to mire anyone up.

Gespenst's raging Energy Ball struck home, but instead of an explosion of natural power it splashed off his foe's exterior. As her Pokemon picked himself up to return to a ready position, Olivie clasped her hands behind her head again and regarded the Roggenrola's metallic exterior with a degree of respect. So, it wasn't a complete pushover. Anything that could turn itself into a living hunk of metal might very well spell trouble for a combatant who relied on plants to attack. Her worries proved ill-founded, however. When she looked again, the steely sheen had disappeared from the rock's body, leaving it no worse for wear physically but definitely a touch more worn out. At least, Olive guessed so, based on its movement. Not much could be gleaned by staring at the stolid creature's countenance. His Pokemon having overcome the attack, Azerus commanded his Roggenrola to take the offensive. At its trainer's voice, the stony beast's spirits seemingly flared once more, and with surprising speed it moved to smash Gespenst's head with its own.

”Now's your chance! Take this hit and then return the favor with Needle Arm!” Olivie smiled wildly and raised a fist as she forbid her partner to defend himself. Without protest or movement of any kind, Gespenst unflinchingly received the Roggenrola's headbutt. The blow caused him to stagger backward, gurgling in dismay at the unexpected pain, but before he stumbled out of range the Cacnea's expression hardened. With a noise like an axe burying its head in wood, his arm spikes doubled in length. A guttural snarl rang out as he swung both arms down in an overhead slam, seeking to put his opponent out of commission with all the strength he had left (6/6 EP). He was, by all accounts, terrible about budgeting his energy.

@Lugubrious
Old system
HP = lvl X 2 (4hp)
EP = lvl X 3 (6ep)

So I can spend four to reduce the damage to two.
Then attack with my leftovers...?

Oh, I thought the Roggenrola was level 1, which would have made his HP 2 and his EP 3. If he's level 2, then yeah, everything can play out as you said.
@Lugubrious
So due to type advantage that's potentially 6 dmg?

Unless you reduce it with EP. Then again, even if you spent all of your effort points to dodge or block, it would still be 6-3=3 points, which is more HP than your character's Pokemon has.
Tbh the disorganization here is a little off-putting. I understand there's a lot to manage considering the playerbase is huge, but regardless I'm not sure I'm up to stay. Since I'm already on a waiting spot now, might as well call it.

That would be a major disappointment. The potential solution offered by Guess Who and supported by HCTS could definitely fix the problem, and the organization is being improved. The waiting list, as far as I am concerned, doesn't exist. You're in, and can play if you want while we work swiftly to find a way to fix this issue. Saying that you want to duck out based on something that's a 'little off-putting' gives the impression that you were not as interested as we might have thought to begin with. I would strongly encourage you to give us a chance.
