Dr. Dorothy Pender & Dr. Fitz Townsley

Location: Lady Luck's
Skills: Perception, Medicine, Engineer, Gambler

Fitz beamed slightly, looking down with shock and surprise at his hand. He hadn't imagined that it would be that good - but luck seemed to have been on his side, just as Jahosafat said. He pulled the winnings from the middle of the table towards him, before quickly doing a bit of probability estimates in his head. Would it be better to bow out now or go another round? There wasn't much to go on, but his quick maths told him that it couldn't possibly hurt to go another hand. The worst case scenario was he lost all of his winnings and then a little more. "N-no, it's just as you said - l-luck," Fitz explained. "I'm n-not sure that I'd be very good at hustling people...I'm b-better with machines," he then admitted.

Dorothy was keeping an eye on their general surroundings. With the Captain off in the back room and there being no sign of her or Harper returning, she felt a certain responsibility to keep tabs on everything. Knowing the Captain, there was a good chance another round of gunfire would be set off shortly and they'd need to book it. "Something came up," Dorothy informed Mei. "I wouldn't worry too much - she didn't go far." And while she could have pointed out exactly where Anisa went, she didn't feel a need to. If Anisa wanted people to go and check in on her, she would have said something - and Dorothy then would have done a quick check for a concussion to try to explain the odd behavior.

Of course, Dorothy was also keeping an eye on her sister. While she wasn't skilled in psychology, she was able to get a basic idea of her sister's wellbeing. Fortunately, it didn't seem that Daphne was still in shock - just being a bit overly cautious. She supposed she couldn't blame Daphne. The last time she had opened her mouth, she had been fired and nearly killed. But hopefully as Daphne joined in this hand, she'd realize she didn't need to be this cautious about things.

Fitz then turned to look at Jackie with clear confusion on his face. "Wh-why do you take their pants?" he asked. He couldn't have looked more gullible, naive, and innocent in that moment. Maybe he really was that good of a hustler. "W-wouldn't th-their valuables be more...v-valuable...than their p-pants?" Though he supposed that Jackie might have taken people's pants as some sort of practical joke. He had seen that happen once or twice before in the dorms - usually the day of final exams. Some poor engineering student would have to take the test in just their boxers.

Present Day - The Castle: December 21st, 12,507 - 9:30 AM

@jdh97: Jadis' eyes sparkled, reminiscent of the stars in the sky at night. They were a brilliant hue of blue, void of any black that would be associated with those who practiced the Darke. While those in the Castle saw the Wendron Witches as monsters, they only used Lyte Magyk. Any harm that they caused to members of the Castle was done through purely non-Magykal means. "Oh, I have many plans, Little-Bell...In fact, I believe that Valda will have received my first gift to her, in honor of this special moment," Jadis said. She could be so cryptic at times but with the feelings of joy and triumph washing over her, she decided that it wouldn't hurt to tell Bell what she had set in motion.

"You remember my brother, don't you? The dear little imp?" Jadis prefaced. They were walking down Maker's Mile and had just turned, now heading west. It wouldn't be long until they arrived at the Palace - long until they would be able to see dear Valda and offer her congratulations. "It took some persuasion, but I convinced him to offer his hand in marriage to sweet Valda. He would be a great help to her - and then she would be my sister in Magyk and in blood."

@LadyRunic: Rhys encounters no problems as he makes his way to the Traders Market. On the way, an idea will form in his mind - if he wishes to sneak into the Palace, who can come and go as they please without question? Servants and members of important delegations. He could claim to be the latter and they would be hard pressed to question him, with so many guests to the Palace. But most importantly, he technically does have an invitation to the coronation. The entire Castle had been invited to go attend the ceremony on the Palace lawn. However, for one reason or another, Rhys doesn't notice Blaise Rowland and Jarvis Yule at all. Even if he were to look in their direction, they just seemed to blend into the crowd.

@KazAlkemi: Rowland chuckled slightly, turning to look at his companion for a moment. "Perhaps I have not been away long enough - I'm still being recognized," Rowland lamented - yet there was a twinkle in his emerald eyes. He had been the ExtraOrdinary Wizard of the Castle for decades - it would take more than a year or two abroad to cause people to forget him. And of course, he stood out slightly in a crowd. He had a certain Magykal aura to him, with his eyes glimmering with secrets and his beard so long that he could have tucked it into his belt.

Yule shook his head slightly at his old mentor's antics. "Athelyna would have liked that," Yule said. Rowland had had four apprentices in total. For the last leg of his travels before returning to the Castle, he had visited his second apprentice, Athelyna, at her home in the Lagoon. Rowland nodded in agreement before turning to Cuyler with a playful smile. "So tell me, dear boy, how do you know Miss Rincewind? Tell me all about it - and perhaps I can survey your wares as we talk?"

@Nallore: The message rat nodded, before squeaking out, "of course, your highness! The bill will be sent to the Palace within one business week," before scurrying off. Even though they were royalty, royals only could use the message rat service without charge in cases of emergencies. Otherwise, they were treated like just everyone else. But as much as Luna may want to reflect on who Golds could be, it's about time for her to go meet the delegation from the Eastern SnowPlains. They'll be in the westernmost wing of the Palace - their Crown Princess and Grand Magician, the equivalent of the ExtraOrdinary Wizard, comprised the delegation chiefly. There were the usual associates servants and advisors present as well.

@BlueSky44: Puck paused for a moment, looking at Valda incredulously. Had he not just told her the stakes? The people of the Castle did not trust her - there was a gigantic target on her back and she was defenseless. She'd be lucky to make it to the end of the day without his protection. And as for the second matter, what did she knew of ruling? She was nothing more than a child pretending to be a princess - and in a few hours, she'd be pretending to be a queen. As far as Puck was concerned, she needed him to step in and get things in the Castle sorted.

"Respectfully, your majesty, we do not have the luxury of time," Puck clarified. "Do you think the Port Witch Coven will allow you to take the throne? They may be smaller in number than yours but they are ruthless and will not hesitate to kill you where you stand. Your impending coronation has made them desperate." He then took a step forward, looking up into Valda's eyes. "It is rare for a ruler to marry for love - but you, if you accept my proposal, would marry for protection. I know the ways of politics and hatred. We could live as brother and sister, married only as a formality. You would be free to chase your dreams, to live each moment to your heart's content, not weighed down with the rules and obligations of a kingdom...Yet I am afraid, your highness, that without protection you will not live to see another sunrise."

@Dragoknighte: Just as Atkin started to set down Wizard Way, making his way towards the Traders Market, a small disaster had been set into motion. Inside Larry's Dead Languages - a shop that attempts to rival the Manuscriptorium, offering translations of ancient tongues such as Italian and Russian - there was a shrill shriek. A second later, the clerk and a handful of customers came running out of the shop and flooding into the street, muttering unintelligible nonsense about a furry creature that had taken up residence in the shop. But one of the customer's eyes latched onto Atkin - and unfortunately for Atkin, that customer just happened to be friends with an apprentice that lived in the dormitories of Wizard Tower. He had seen Atkin coming and going with the ExtraOrdinary Wizard before.

"Apprentice!" the person called out, rushing up to Atkin and practically latching onto him. "There's a monstrous beast in the shop - you must get rid of it!" they urged him. And before Atkin could protest or say much otherwise, he found himself practically shoved onto the front steps of the shop, with a small crowd of people looking at him expectedly.

Arya Rincewind

Location: Wizard Tower - 21st Floor

Arya shut the door of her room and then snapped her fingers. Instantly, her normal day-to-day robes had been replaced with the dress robes she had selected for this occasion. She kept the Akhu Amulet of Hotep-Ra securely fastened around her neck. She wouldn't dare leave Wizard Tower without it - no ExtraOrdinary Wizard ever did. Only in times of great tragedy and sacrifice would the Akhu Amulet of Hotep-Ra be missing from the ExtraOrdinary Wizard's neck. She then allowed her hair to lie flat, braiding back two small sections from the front, before placing on a thin silver headband, with Magykal symbols inscribed on it. As far as shoes went, she had chosen something a bit old fashioned - pointed heels made from purple python skin.

She then grabbed her things and headed out of her room and down the stairs, opening the door and then stepping onto the spiral staircase. "Down. Double speed," Arya instructed, and the staircase began to rotate rapidly. As she stepped off of the staircase, a spectral form caught her attention. It was rare that the ghost of an ExtraOrdinary Wizard would choose to Appear to her. Etiquette generally said that they shouldn't - otherwise, they might be tempted to micromanage their successor.

"Louanna Moon, it's been some time," Arya greeted politely. "But I really must be off. I have to prepare for the coronation."

Louanna looked at Arya with an expression that could only be described as pity. "Don't get too attached to your apprentice - that's all I've come to say," the ghost warned. She was perched on the staircase, floating a few feet off of the ground. Yet her words caused Arya's expression to harden - she disliked it when ghosts were cryptic, even more when the words sounded more like threats.

"What do you think is going to happen to him?" Arya asked cautiously. Sometimes ghosts didn't know how to tell the current world apart from the one they remembered. Louanna's warning could have easily been meant for an ExtraOrdinary Wizard that lived centuries ago.

"The Queste."

Nera Hawthorn

Location: Port Witch Coven House

Nera chuckled slightly, her laughter having a slight melodic quality to it. Yet the melody itself was not sweet - it was one in minor. "They aren't wicked thoughts at all - we would be doing Princess Luna a service. Just as she so tragically lost her mother - and soon her sister, too - she will gain a Witch Mother," Nera said. Of course, the Port Witch Coven was smaller than the Wendron Witches - but the Wendron's restrained themselves to practice only the Lyte. They limited their Magyk, hampering their creativity and spirit. The Wendron Witches were doomed to fail without balance.

She nodded and followed Fleur to the staircase, remaining at the top of the stairs. They had a rather narrow landing and more than two people couldn't fit there properly at a time. She rolled her eyes slightly upon recognizing their guest - his name was Sigmund, but most referred to him as Old Man Sig. He was nearly as fat as he was tall, giving his body a grotesque circular shape. His veins bulged slightly and he was almost covered from head to toe in what seemed to be soot. He was a paranoid old drug that spent most of his time looting other people's waste.

"In order to curse your boat, you must first have a boat," Nera said pointedly.

Sig's beady eyes narrowed as he raised his fist towards the witches, extending a particular finger towards the three of them. "You bloody witches know what you did, the lot of you! Ain't no tea is going to make me forgets the wrongs you did! If me boat ain't fixed by the end of the night, you're all DEAD!" Sig screamed, before slamming his fist against the door. His fist swung in at just the wrong angle, however, causing him to hit a rather sensitive nerve and scream slightly in pain.

"FUCK!" Sig groaned. "You see that? Huh? You see! They cursed me! Whores the lot of them! And then there's the man-woman!" Sig sneered, motioning with his head towards Malekith.

"Charming as ever, Sig," Nera muttered curtly.

Myrus Silvers

Location: Servants Quarters - The Palace

"Right, just a friend," Myrus repeated, before hesitating for a moment. "Actually, erm, let's say I hypothetically liked a girl...And I wanted to get her attention...What would you...if you were the girl...want me to do?" Myrus asked, his cheeks crimson enough to match his robes. He didn't have a parent to ask for advice on women anymore and he certainly wasn't going to ask Luna about it. He could just see it - Luna running down Alchemie Way and telling Mavis all about how he was begging to get her back or something silly like that. Girls could be weird at times - but Lyra didn't strike him as giggly and silly as some of them could be.

"And for context, in this situation, the girl and I used to date," Myrus explained, turning his gaze to look at the ground. "But she may have called me a... coddled man child...or something along those lines..." He bit his lip and played with a loose strand on his cloak. He hadn't quite gotten over Mavis. She had been the one to end things after that awful fight they had gotten into, and while they had managed to repair their friendship, Myrus didn't want to be just friends with Mavis. He then looked up at Lyra sheepishly, wondering what advice she'd give him. Hopefully it wasn't to take a letter opener and cut Mavis open - but with all of the knives Lyra kept grabbing, he wouldn't have been too surprised if she said something along those lines.

Scott Rydzynski

Location: Crash Site - Seattle, Washington
Interacting With: Gideon, Jace, Janelle

Scott raised an eyebrow at Janelle. She heard it? His eyes then widened a bit in realization as it dawned on him that she was blind. No wonder she had a clingy ginger with her - it was probably cheaper than training a service dog. His eyes then flickered over to Gideon as he held out his hand and produced a small orb of light. So they were all freaks, then - just as he assumed. He couldn't help but wonder if Mary Sue or whatever her name was at the coffee shop was also one of them - another person with incredible powers. "Guess you didn't get a fresh pair of eyes out of this - that sucks," Scott said, nodding at Janelle.

"And yeah, princess, I ended up in a shop earlier today - something to do with pies. That was probably the strangest thing - most of the places I frequent serve me a stout - not pastries," Scott explained with a bit of a chuckle. It was clear that by princess he meant Jace. He crossed his arms, thinking on what their next move would be. In his line of work, it usually involved threats - but that wasn't the right play to make here. "Anyone know why we all see each other and have these powers?"

Jenna Westbrook

Location: Town Center

Jenna wasn't sure if she was supposed to laugh or nod at what Mayor Ryder had said. Where else was he going to go? In her experiences, ghosts tended to be bound to a certain place. They rarely were able to roam as they pleased. And it was probably better that way. If every ghost could travel to any location, the dead would have complicated the lives of the living more than they already did. She glanced back at town hall, seeing the mayor in through the window, and then reshouldered her bag and walked up to Abe and Kosara's car, climbing into the back seat.

"Thanks for letting me spend the night," Jenna said, setting her bag on the seat next to her and buckling in. She was feeling completely and utterly done with this town. She pulled out her phone and shot a quick text off to her twin, letting him know she'd be going radio silent until she didn't want to throw someone through a wall, before shutting her phone off completely. Jenna had no interest in hearing what Finn or Dec or anyone else had to say to her. In her opinion, they were all being idiots and she was the only one approaching this situation as an investigator would. No one was above suspicion - even close friends and family. If Finn didn't want to consider all of the possibilities, then Jenna would just have to investigate this one on her own.

And maybe once this was all over, she'd buy a bus ticket and skip town.

Virginia Crypt

Location: Russian Imperial Circus Tent City (Regent's Park) - Main Tent
Skills: N/A

Virginia did a bit of a double take as Adam vanished and then reappeared. There were so many marvelous and strange things in motion that had she not known better, she would have said it was All Hallow's Eve. Or perhaps the Winter Solstice, the day of the longest night, in which the shadows reigned supreme over the light. Yet given that she was a Crypt and she had just seen her ancestor vanish, Virginia did not find Adam's presentation to be troubling. James however looked on at his friend with awe and perhaps even a little bit of envy.

"Woaaah! That was wicked brilliant! So mad!" James cried out, his vocabulary showing a hint of those who had raised him. While at times he resembled Virginia's upper London diction, there were moments when the looser slang of the household staff came spewing forth from his lips. While it may have bothered others, it didn't give Virginia any cause for concern. As long as James spoke his mind and did not allow others to speak for him, she didn't care what words he used. James could have insisted to only speak in French except for every third Saturday of the year and as long as his opinions he offered were his own, Virginia wouldn't put up a fuss.

"Adam, can you teach me how to do that?!" James called out, entirely oblivious to the politics and delicate conversation the others were having. Virginia, however, looked on with interest at the proceedings. She was more focused on what Elizaveta and Ludwig had to say than anyone else. As she had told Mary before, these were normals - except for the Scandinavian fellow. He seemed delightful. She imagined he'd be great fun in a rousing game of Wake the Dead!

Yet just as Elizaveta had found this to be an eye opening experience, something then occurred to Virginia. Her father had sent word through the flames to Seek Life Elsewhere. As much as she adored England and had fond memories of her time spent there, perhaps it was time they moved on as well. James seemed to be quite happy here amongst the Circus. And she herself had a journey to undertake to speak with Belladonna and reunite with her seemingly not dead parents, after Millicent had been rescued from the jaws of arranged marriage. All of the wealth and material possessions of the Crypt family - what did it truly mean to her? It was all worthless - just things.

Why should she keep her brother in a land that would force him to acquire an earldom at a young age? A country where despite all evidence to the contrary, women were not held to be equal to men? She couldn't fathom a decent answer to that question.

Nora Kingston

Location: Heading West Towards The Egyptian Museum -> Front Door of Museum
Skills: N/A

Nora could not pretend to be surprised. Hardly anyone these days were willing to overlook the matter of gender when it came to intellectual matters - yet Peter did appear to be a rare exception. It made it all the more saddening, the strange situation that had developed between Vera and Peter. On paper, they appeared to be a smart match - and he clearly did care for her. Yet Nora supposed that the heart was a fickle thing and not overly prone to the use of logic. Emotions could not be constrained to formulae any more than a bird could be restrained to the ground.

"That is quite unfortunate," Nora said, as the museum came into view and they had just about returned from their outing. She couldn't help but wonder how long it would take Peter to travel back to the museum with his leg. It would be an interesting exercise in arithmetic, that much was certain. Then another thought occurred to her - perhaps they took a longer route, one that would allow George to avoid the public eye as much as possible. George struck her as a bit shy - the sort that would attempt to cling to the shadows if possible. If they were to make use of backroads, especially being newcomers to Cairo who did not know the quickest route, it would be logical for their arrival at the museum to be quite late.

"I imagine the gentlemen are taking the roads less traveled and less direct, for George's sake," Nora then explained, sharing her thought process to Lady Munn - just in case Vera was worried about them. "Now...What is next on our agenda for the preparation of this expedition?"
@Peridot: Day 7!

@Nallore@FantasyChic@BlueSky44@Peridot
December 28th, 2016 - 11:01 P.M. EST - 0 Days Since Hel Returned

Since we are coming onto the end of day, each of you has received the following reward for surviving: a get out of death free card! These cards can be used once in order to change the fate of a character. This does not have to be your character - say, your favorite character's significant other dies? Bam! Use the card and they're a-okay! Use these cards wisely, as it's unlikely they will ever be awarded again...

These cards are eligible to be used in the following RPs:

  • The Horrors of Coventry
  • Darke Magyk
  • The Wolves of Red Lake (permission given by @Nallore)
  • X-Men: Darkness Rising (permission given by @BlueSky44)
  • The Unfortunate Thirteen (permission given by @BlueSky44)
  • Any future RP GM'ed by Morose

Now believe it or not, my dears, but December 28th is drawing to a close. Its famously known to be the unluckiest day of the year - rumored to be when Judas turned on Jesus - yet you all know too well the horrors that lurk on this day. How many of you are still alive? Of those who died - did you suspect you would have drawn your last breath this day? Perhaps it is better that way - you won't have to be alive for the coming year. It appears that darkness is rising as our world plunges more and more into chaos and despair. While we lived in ignorance before the events of Altsoba and New York, maybe it was better that way. It was better to not anticipate a gruesome end and to instead arrive at it unexpectedly.

Well, I suppose time will tell...

Highway Near Clearwater, Florida...

From somewhere behind her, Jessica can hear the sound of three sharp knocks. If she turns her head, she can see a cloak seemingly materialize out of nowhere. As it drifted softly to the ground, it began to take shape and form - yet she wouldn't be able to see who was under it. Yet Jessica, well versed in angel lore, would recognize a kumakatok when she saw one. There were only three in existence - two older men and one young girl. The names they went by tended to change to suit the time and place.

There was also a brief commotion on the end of the line. "Hai...I am sorry I missed your call. Kyasarin says that you need help?" It was none other than Chikashi himself. He sounded a little shaken, clearly troubled by something that had just gone on. "There...there was an incident at O.M.E.N. headquarters. I just missed it," Chikashi then explained.

O.M.E.N. Panic Room - O.M.E.N Headquarters - Washington D.C...

Ricky was a bit of a mess - but could you blame him? He was covered in blood that wasn't his own and he couldn't unclench his knuckles. The poor thing was quivering and as Alex approached him, he flinched a bit in fear - as if expecting an attack. But given the events that went down, that wasn't surprising either. Almost everyone that died had been brought back by Hel and turned into her personal puppets of death. It was either a blessing or a curse that once Hel left, the animated corpses dropped lifelessly to the ground. They could rest - just not in peace.

"I...I....I..." Ricky stuttered, before swallowing thickly. "When I blink...I still see...that thing...and..." his voice trailed off. He wasn't cut out for this, that much was clear. Alex was going to need to give Ricky a little bit of tough love - either that or literally drag him out of there.

Folly Valeska

Location: The Library - Coventry, Massachusetts
Interacting With: Lilith & Thalia @BlueSky44@FantasyChic

Folly leaned against the wall, letting her hair fall forward to mask her tears as Fairfax left. With him gone, it sank in that she would never see him again. They were separated by almost a century of time. The Fairfax she knew was long dead by now. She couldn't bear the thought of looking into it though - what if Fairfax had died young? Or what if he had been alive still when she was born? What if his death had been soft and peaceful - or hard and painful? They were questions she didn't want answered. As long as she didn't know what happened to him, she could imagine something kind.

After a few minutes passed, Folly stepped forward and rejoined the conversation with Thalia and Lilith. They didn't have any sort of a plan. And as far as Folly was aware, they had two options. They could run and move on with their lives - or they could stay and attempt to fight. "Hel killed our family," Folly finally said quietly. The Circus had been their home - and now, it was destroyed. "She may not have killed my mother, but she is the reason for her death...And as much as I hate my father...He's my father."

She looked down at the ground, waiting for the immediate remarks of disgust from Lilith and Thalia. She knew it wouldn't be easy to understand. Even after everything Boris had done to her, she couldn't divorce him from the idea of a proper father - one who would take care of her and look out for her. "We should do something...Maybe...Maybe contact O.M.E.N., let them know what happened here..."

"...Where did the cloak go?"

Robin Ramírez & Aloise Zamora

Location: Room 307 - Hunter Hotel, Omaha, Nebraska
Interacting With: Mariana Garcia @Nallore

Aloise nodded, thinking back to what she had seen in Coventry. "It was like...Like the cloaks in Harry Potter. Black and thick with a hood," Aloise explained. She was sure that Hel would be able to tell the difference. From what she recalled, the cloak had magical powers. It had briefly possessed Daniyal before he was sent back to his timeline. It wasn't going to be as simple as buying a cloak and fashioning it to look like it. While it worked in movies, it rarely did in real life. Hel would be able to tell that the magic of the cloak was wrong. It was like the princess and the pea - it was something Hel would simply know.

"We can make some calls - someone we know might have some information on warding," Robin then suggested. "And of course, there's always research." Aloise hadn't given them any information on sigils, so Robin was operating under the assumption that that was because Aloise didn't know anything. The veteran hunter struck her as being a bit out of her element. It was probably for the best that Aloise had gone to recruit other hunters - she wouldn't survive this on her own.

"We should probably look out for any news from the D.C. area," Aloise suggested. Robin nodded in agreement. Whatever "business" Hel had in D.C., it couldn't possibly be good. "Got any hunter's helper on you?" Aloise then asked, referencing the pride and joy of all hunters - alcohol.
@Peridot: Day 6!

@Peridot@BlueSky44@Nallore@FantasyChic: I will be updating here tonight. This round is going to be the last before a short timeskip. It will most likely be to the next morning - but no more than a week. Will have more information on that soon. Characters will (unless something drastic changes) end up in these groups -

Circus Peeps - Folly, Lilith, and Thalia
Agents - Jade, Alec, Alex, and Ricky
Hunters - Mariana, Robin, and Aloise
Rogue Angel - Jessica (will message you)

- I may give skill rewards to characters as well for surviving the first day - which in this RP, is a big deal. The reward may be something else, however....But I guarantee you will like it. ^_^ Also, there won't be any cases this round. I won't be able to keep up for rolling them with midterm wave 2 coming up.
