The Playground - Washington D.C.: October 24th, 2020 - 3:00 P.M.

System alerts are still going off and can be heard throughout the Playground. Goose is running around the legs of Tinley, Cass, and Conrad, meowing up at them as if going "Chop Chop, hoomans! It's go time!" The alarms in the Playground have to be manually deactivated from either Technology or Barton's office, which might be something you want to do, as the alarms are incredibly loud and will definitely give you a headache if they go on too much longer.

Agent Tinley Abercrombie is the ranking agent in charge right now at the Playground - so it's time to get your orders from her if you haven't already!

Dominika Novikova

Location: Outside - Downtown Washington D.C.
Skills: Metal Bending
Novikova was nervous and for good reason. She was a mutant and the increased Purifier presence in the area was a large reason as to why she dyed her naturally silver hair. It made her stick out to them, caused them to go and harass her - and not all of them believed that she was dyed it silver. Some of them would figure out that was a lie, that she was one of the muties they hated so much, and attack her. It was easier to hide and keep a low profile. "There's ten of them," Novikova whispered to Maria.

She nodded a bit as Maria said to not engage, but thanks to the stealth suit it meant that Maria wouldn't see it and Novikova could have kicked herself. "Alright...," she said quietly. It made her uncomfortable, leaving the Purifiers on the doorstep of their fellow agents and sneaking away. Yes, she wanted to enact her plan to save Sparky and Raynor, but she had friends down in the bunker. They were counting on her. Leaving the Playground behind when an attack could be coming... That wasn't why she joined S.H.I.E.L.D.

"Alexander Jakobsen - the man who used to stand for SOMETHING," one of the Purifiers began, speaking into a megaphone, "has ABANDONED US. Our streets are terrorized with mutants - our children at schools are not SAFE! Since when is it legal to have a weapon of mass destruction in a classroom? Do you want them in your neighborhood? They are abominations and threats - threats we need to monitor and remove!"

"They seem hostile." She didn't say a word beyond that, before she reached her hand out and focused on the megaphone. It was made of metal and while it was a bit of a way away, she closed her eyes and could sense it. She could feel the particles that constructed it. And as Novikova clenched her fist, the megaphone crumpled into a wad of metal, cutting up the Purifier's hand who was holding it.

"They're here! Find them!" the Purifier snapped.

Jack Newnan

Location: Quarantine (W: Conference Room)
Skills: Russian (fluent)

Jack's eyes widened and he instinctively clutched Jamie a little closer to him, before covering his son's eyes as Tatiana decked Ash. He hadn't seen that one coming. He knew that his wife had changed a lot - they all had - but back when they first met... Tatiana wouldn't have done that. Was that something to be sad about? Jack knew that he wasn't the same man she had married. And they had promised to love each other - no matter the circumstances. However, that didn't mean he wanted to expose his son to violence without need. Sure, some days Jamie ended up seeing a few walkers get put down... but he could keep him from seeing what was going down now.

He felt tense and afraid - not because of the fight between Ash and Tatiana, but because of its implications. They were surrounded by military personnel - people who he did not doubt would not hesitate to put a bullet between their eyes if they decided that it was for the greater good of their community. Thing was, he was with Tatiana on what she said. She was right. It was brutal and needed to be said... but it made him worry that they might get kicked out of this community because of it.

"ВсС Ρ…ΠΎΡ€ΠΎΡˆΠΎ, Π”ΠΆΠ΅ΠΉΠΌΠΈ, просто спор ΠΌΠ΅ΠΆΠ΄Ρƒ ΠΌΠ°ΠΌΠΎΠΉ ΠΈ дядСй ЭшСм," Jack whispered to his son, bouncing him slightly on his knee. If Ash moved to hit back Tatiana, then Jack didn't know what he would do. Well, he knew that he would knock Ash back on his ass, but Jamie... Maybe he'd let one of the girls hold him for a second. Still though, he knew Ash. He had a lot of pain he wasn't expressing but he wouldn't hurt Tatiana.

Beatrice Decker

Location: Quarantine (W: Conference Room)
Skills: N/A

Beatrice had to bite her lip slightly. She had known Tatiana back in Newnan, finding her and Jack's romance to be a bit disgusting and over the top at times, but still... She didn't know that Tatiana had died a little bird and came back a phoenix. Sure, she didn't know what Tatiana was screaming but she knew the woman and knew it was something Russian. And the punch to Ash's face gave a lot of context behind it. She found herself biting the inside of her cheek to keep from giggling at it, a behavior she had picked up in juvi. The cat fights could be fun at times, especially with shrieks in a language she didn't get - but laugh and you usually ended up next.

Being in a facility like this... It was giving Beatrice a bit of reversion to how she had been back then. It wasn't familiar surroundings, not a place she had been in before, but the rules and the sucker punch and all... It was bringing her back to the person she had been back then. Now, that also wasn't to say that she didn't have compassion for Ash. He and Thana had become close over their short time together. She knew that people clung to those things, especially after long separations in days like these.

However, Beatrice knew that she wasn't going to get involved in this fight. She didn't owe anything to either of them. They were people she used to know and clearly, they were different people now. If it had been Thalia, Alex, or Manny... Then she would have felt a pull to break things up and diffuse the situation, as they had been - are - were? - her people.

Andromeda Aldrich

Location: Ville au Camp - Carnivale Set Up
Skills: N/A

Hearing that she had been there for a purpose - something that was being put on hold - made Andromeda more and more curious. Yes, the answers she could provide to their current situation were enticing - but knowing that something else had brought this deity here... It made Andromeda's brain buzz with the possibilities. Her mind had a bit of a flair for the dramatic at times, conjuring up this image of them joining forces with the carnival in order to fight demonic entities such as the Destruere. The veiled message was sufficiently veiled for Andromeda, keeping her from understanding it. If anything, arrows and bats made her think of DC comics characters - Green Arrow and Batman.

She really doubted that the deity was here to tell them about the welfare of DC shows and movies.

Then there was the mention of Elissa - Andromeda had a feeling that she had to be someone this deity would expect to be here. Either an Elder Paradox or an Emendator, then. Or maybe it was a mispronunciation of Alicia? At any rate, it made her mind race once more, trying to recall any and all aliases mentioned in Ville au Camp - or that name specifically - but it didn't come to mind. She was clueless and craving more answers still.

As Siduri called her out specifically, Andromeda snapped to attention with razor focus. She couldn't help but blush slightly as Siduri mentioned that some cultures would worship her as a goddess. Yes, Andromeda was prideful but she had pride where it was warranted. To have spent a lifetime looking for the strange and unusual, only to become it, and to have that pointed out to her... Blushing was about the only physical response her body was able to decide on.

Gilbert then revealed that Elissa had to be Eve - Nancy hadn't made any sort of comment like that as far as she was aware and she doubted that Nancy would have phrased it so eloquently. The Emendator struck her more as the type to say Up Yours! as she exited. She continued to listen carefully to Siduri's question, before she had a burning question.

"...You said that Eve can choose a path... Is one of those path becoming the Destruere? Becoming a Creature of Dark?" Andromeda asked simply.

Beatrice chuckled ever so slightly, seeing Alex brush off his stump before sticking it into the mold. It reminded her a lot as to when one of her foster siblings would get a cast off, only to find the inside caked with crumbs, dirt - and on one occasion, someone had even found a cigarette. She hadn't been there to see it herself, but her foster siblings swore up and down that it had indeed happened. Unfortunately, it didn't seem like Alex's stump had spawned a cigarette - just dirt.

The news of Thana broke. Beatrice wasn't sure how to feel about it. When had they found Thana? Had Thana betrayed them in the end? Or did she die attempting to help them? The thoughts kept going over and over again in her head, as her mind couldn't decide which way to evaluate Thana in the end. Was she someone to think of fondly or bitterly?

She just didn't know, so Beatrice remained where she was.

They were being assigned to rooms - that was nice. It really was feeling more and more like juvi the longer she was there. Granted, juvi in the apocalypse was pretty amazing compared to the outdoors. She still would have to watch her back in this place, but at least she had access to food and shelter - that wasn't always guaranteed nowadays. Of course, she doubted that they would appreciate her comparison of this settlement to juvenile detention, so she wasn't going to share that. Some people might have mistakenly interpreted that as a negative. It wasn't. It was just how Beatrice could relate this experience to her past.

A past these people hopefully wouldn't learn. She didn't want to get into her life in Justice - that wouldn't get them to trust her.

Jack Newnan

Location: Quarantine (W: Conference Room)
Skills: Russian

Jack's heart sank for Ash, overhearing the news as well. Ash's goal had been to find Thana again - he had her dog tags to return to her, as romantic as gestures could get in the end of the world. He knew how easily their situations could have been reversed - that he could have been the one to lose Tatiana and Ash would have found Thana safe and sound. What would he have wanted in that world? Revenge. It was easily the first thought that popped into his head. If he couldn't protect Tatiana, all he would have wanted would be vengeance for whatever had happened to her.

He nodded, taking Jamie from his wife as she spoke to him in Russian. She didn't talk much about Froggy and Jack hadn't asked yet what had happened to him. Some things were better left unsaid. He imagined that how Thana died would be one of them. If Ash's mind was vengeance, there might not be a "Big Bad" to go and kill in Thana's name. How could you kill the world, after all? A world where survival was so fleeting and people clung to life? It'd be like fighting with reality - you couldn't do that unless you went insane. Yes, it was for the best that Tatiana was going to go talk to him.

At the mention of rooms, Jack's ears perked up slightly. He had to imagine that he, Tatiana, and Jamie would get to share one - right? They were a family. For the first time, they'd have a place of their own somewhere safe with their baby.

Guin Stark

Location: First Sub Basement - Operating Theater
Skills: N/A

Ayita's mental message to Guin went unheard - she didn't even notice that someone had tried to contact her telepathically. Those with psychic type abilities had resistance to telepathic intrusions - as well as those with a genius level intellect. Ayita's intended target just happened to fall under both categories, likely for the better as Guin did not consider Richard or Ayita to be family. She wasn't even friends with Ayita. And given how Ayita and Richard were treating Mary, once Guin found out what was going on, would she still be friends with Richard? Only time could tell.

Before she could even say another word to her father, Pietro had whisked her downstairs into medical. She was hardly even aware of the rapid travel. It went too fast for her mind to even begin to properly process. "Telling me to not argue about it just makes me want to argue about it," Guin mumbled, getting her bearings in medical. The place was uncomfortably crowded. Lance was the closest one too her and she grimaced slightly, spotting the contraption that Dr. Banner was using. She knew it was the only way to save her friend, but still... She just hoped Lance wouldn't hate her for calling his father.

"Arguing is bad," Pietro told her simply.

She raised an eyebrow. β€œYou mean arguing with you is bad,” Guin pointed out. She had seen Pietro argue with people on tons of occasions and he had seen her argue with others.

"...Well technically you shouldn't be arguing with anyone when you have a head injury that you haven't had looked at."

She sighed slightly. The head injury wasn't really that bad. She had put a bandage on it and was feeling fine. People knocked their heads against things all of the time and she wasn't in tremendous pain or anything. She could wait to get it looked at until people with more serious injuries were dealt with. β€œPiet I’m fine. Other people actually need Beast’s help right now.”

"You need to get your head looked at still!"

β€œIt can wait and you shouldn’t yell in medical...” Guin reminded him. She glanced over, seeing the various people in beds. A lot of them were in pretty bad shape - enough that she imagined hearing Pietro yell wasn't really at the top of their list of things to do at the moment. "I'm not yelling..." "You just did yell," Guin pointed out. "Whatever."

She moved the blanket aside, swinging her feet over to the side and beginning to slide out of bed, only for Pietro to put her back into the hospital bed in the blink of an eye. To Guin's perception, it looked like he hadn't even moved at all. "Piet, I don't need to be taking up a bed space when people need it more than me..."

"Head injuries are bad you know, especially when you don't know how serious it is."

"Am I going to be able to convince you?" Guin asked quietly, a bit annoyed.

"Probably not."

Guin huffed, lying back in the bed and turning over. She felt frustrated and a bit bad that a lot of people were needing help, and she felt fine, but Pietro was insisting on getting her looked over. However, seeing the blood in medical gave her a brief flashback to seeing Muscles lying dead on the ground and her muscles tensed up in response.

Dean Kesseli

Location: First Sub Basement - Operating Theater
Skills: N/A

Dean saw them bring in Carolina and his heart sank. At least he knew that he hadn't been the one to hurt her - right? But it easily could have been. He felt guilty for something that he didn't do, seeing the sweet and innocent Brit on the bed in some state of confusion. It looked like a head injury, with all of the blood caking Carolina's skull. If he had been up to going over to her, he would have, to... to apologize? He honestly didn't know. "Annie.... Is Carolina gonna be okay?" Dean called out quietly. There was no point continuing to look at Richard, to be reminded that he withheld information about Dean's sister - no friend would have done that... Dean wouldn't have done that to him... - and that Dean was the one responsible for his current state.

The conversation between the old X-Men caught Dean's attention as well - something like this had happened before. He bit his lip slightly. How many enemies did the X-Men have? How long would it be until something like this happened again?! Until he woke up, finding himself covered in his friends' blood and their corpses at his feet? He had seen the Flash television show. He knew what speedsters and those like them were capable of when they went dark. He never wanted to risk even doing something like that to Carolina.

Another reason to leave, then.

Gene Benaszewski & Nora Kingston

Location: Benha (Docks)
Skills: N/A
"Always," Gene told J.C. with a smirk. However, she had a feeling that if Bella had run off somewhere, then there was fun nearby to be had. All of these people from different backgrounds - it just made her giddy. She hated being cooped up places. Back home, it felt like the same day was repeating over and over again, as if nothing ever really changed and time never really passed. Here, there was life, energy, a certain bit of seductive charm to the intensity of it all. "Though what did you have in mind for fun, hmm?" she instinctively reached into her pocket, grabbed a sweet, unwrapped it, and popped it into her mouth.

Nora nodded a bit, smiling slightly at Lauren's suggestion. The tours did seem to be the most interesting of the options available. Rose gardens and perfume could be found in England just as easily as here in Benha - but these tours were something unique. She'd regret not getting to go see them since she now had the chance. "I would like that," Nora told Lauren, though she also couldn't help but wonder if they might stumble upon some clue dealing with this entire mystery. Coincidences and strange events were happening no matter where they went. Or if they were lucky, perhaps they would illuminate enough of the pattern in order to predict the next strange happening.

Gene then raised a bit of an eyebrow as the Lord Major struggled to come up with a word to describe Bella. It was cute, how hard these Brits tried to be as proper and polite as possible. In a way, the struggle reminded her of a puppy trying to remember what trick to perform in exchange for a treat. The comparison ended there however - she didn't imagine anyone ever calling Lord Major the various names given to dogs. It made her shudder a bit at the thought, wanting to wash her brain and remove that entire train of thought from memory.

The soft spoken British woman departed to the left with Lauren, noticing that this was the same direction as the bazar and the market. Of the three options, those would be her second choice. She imagined that Lady Munn would have loved to go on these tours - and perhaps if she hadn't been so ill, Nora could have imagined her having a lively and polite discussion with George to pass the time with. She was glad that her friend seemed to have recovered mostly from Peter's death. The pain of Neema's death was still lingering with Nora and she had known her for far less time than Vera had known her Peter.

Walnut heard the soft words from Chanteuse Amaranathine. "Yes, there is considerable pain," she admitted. Those tears from earlier had not been faked or forced - they were genuine. The pain had been tremendous and it continued to be so. In many ways, Walnut was of the opinion that it hurt more after the fact than it had during the actual wounding. "Yet I stand by my actions, even with the pain. The man whom you support and care for... he attacked an already wounded and defenseless man without provocation." It was the truth once more. How strange. She had to tell the truth and attempt to get others to believe it, when she was more accustomed to doing the opposite - selling a lie. Yet as her thoughts flickered towards the horrible sight she had seen after Plum was on the ground... she shuddered a bit in memory. Was he really a man? What had been that horrible thing?

She had to resist the urge to snap and say something scathing as she was given another nudge forward. She stepped forward, through the door and out into the Grand Vestibule once more. It occurred to Walnut that she had essentially gone in what must have been a square or circular pathway. That was good information to know. Not that she was intending to need to escape and lose others in pursuit, but she now knew multiple pathways that would lead to the same destination. That could prove useful later on. And while Amaranathine had taken off her mask, Walnut paused for a moment.

If she wanted them to trust and believe her, then she needed to prove that she had nothing to hide. The petite little thing then took off her own mask.
