"If the entire cop thing doesn't work out for you after this all blows over, you'd be a good vigilante," Cecily told Roy. She couldn't help but have a mental image of him wearing yellow spandex and fighting crime in the dark, doing what the police was unable to. If that ever happened, she hoped it wouldn't be in Justice at the very least. Nothing could save that city. The ground was poisoned with something dark and nefarious. It made somewhere as violent and dangerous as Gotham look like nothing in her opinion. "On it," she said, grabbing Roy's phone.
She first sent a text to Keystone from her phone - When you have a moment, what do you know about Roberts Security? It's important." She figured it could be a while before Keystone replied to her, since he was busy at the moment, but the nice thing about a text was that it could wait. He'd read it and answer it when he had a moment, Cecily was certain of that. She then set her phone aside and used Roy's, pulling up Priya's contact and typing out a text - Be back in town in 20. She had considered mentioning that she was the one texting and Roy wasn't, but she still didn't know if she could trust Priya. And even if she could, someone might have done something to the detective's phone. Keeping the ~hey, it's Cecily~ out of the text could be useful.
Just to recap, the Mutant Underground's D.C. station is located in an abandoned warehouse. Those who have been there for a while get to sleep on ruined and cat pee stained couches - those who are new huddle together on the ground, using blankets to try to keep the chill of the concrete from seeping into their bones. When Colossus, Havok, and Spark Plug returned, the mood was grim when they realized Sapphire and Veil were gone.
"What the hell are we doing, just sitting around here?!" Sunspot snapped, his fist glowing red hot for a moment. They were in the middle of breakfast. "We need to go find them now, damn it!"
"Yeah, we do, but just racing off to try and find them isn't going to help us Sunspot, just might cause us to get caught or something." Cannonball looked at his best friend for a moment, hoping that he would cool off a bit - both literally and figuratively.
"Not to be a bitch about this... But we can't just bust them out of prison," Negasonic pointed out, looking away from her phone for a rare moment. "We aren't criminals - this isn't the Brotherhood."
Havok had been uncharacteristically silent. They had tried getting the Atlanta Station to send over Thunderbird, one of their trackers, but apparently he wasn't available. There was some rushed explanation about how his girlfriend had left him recently and he was taking it pretty hard. Havok could relate to that - he and Polaris broke up so often and it never got any easier.
"There is man - Morlock - who I hired to find Illyana," Colossus said, breaking the silence. "He is called Stretch. He is good man - maybe he can help us with police problem."
"Great, so we are relying on mythical sewer dwellers to handle our legal matters?" Negasonic scoffed, rolling her eyes.
Homeless Shelter - Mutant Friendly:
Anastasia's night would have been less comfortable than she was used to. She had managed to get a place to stay at one of the few mutant friendly homeless shelters. The outside of the building was tagged with slurs along the lines of MUTIE SCUM! and IT'S ADAM AND EVE, NOT MUTIE AND EVE! - not all of the insults were the most creative. Most of the people that spent the night in the shelter kept to themselves, but potentially one of them will be able to get her into contact with the Mutant Underground.
Veil
Location: Jail Skills: N/A
Veil had been gone for what seemed like an eternity, but in reality it hadn't been much more than eleven hours. While Sapphire had been allowed to sleep in a cell, they had interrogated the leader of the Washington D.C. branch of the Mutant Underground overnight. The collars that the police had forced onto the two girls repressed and inhibited their powers, preventing them from fighting back. It was morning when the door to Sapphire's cell was opened and Veil stumbled her way inside.
"Veil? Are you okay?" Sapphire asked instantly, going over to help her to her to sit down on a bed.
She had two black eyes. Her lip was bloodied and bruised. Veil's already wild and untamed hair was matted in several locations, as if someone had pulled on it and forced her head around. "All things considered, I am," Veil said softly. As much pain as she was in, she was beyond exhausted and in desperate need of sleep. There was blood on her arm. She had already had a scar in the shape of an M before this, but Sapphire would be able to see that someone had decided to reinforce the scar while they "interrogated" her.
"You should probably get some sleep while you can..." she said, concerned about her friend right now. This also was a way to distract her from the fact that they were currently sitting in prison. Sapphire internally was trying not to panic at this thought, but it didn't really matter. She just wanted to make sure that Veil was okay.
Veil nodded slightly, though her neck was stiff so even that wasn't too comfortable a motion to make. "They'll probably come for you next... Don't give them anything, okay?" Veil mumbled.
"Wasn't planning on it, and don't remind me... This isn't exactly my first rodeo with this sort of crowd..." she muttered.
"Maybe, but your boyfriend isn't here this time." There was then a sharp knock at the door and the cell opened. "Clarke, come with us," the guard ordered stiffly.
"He's not my boyfriend exactly, and might be able to call him to bail us out..." she whispered with a slight smile, but she wasn't too thrilled when the guard showed up, and her mind started racing as she was beginning to majorly panic.
Sunshine
Location: the Morlock Tunnels Skills: N/A
To let you guys get an idea of what this place looks like better than I could describe it
The generators had been turned back on before they all went to sleep that night. Even though they weren't powering lights, they were powering essentially small space heaters, helping to keep all of the Morlocks warm. There were a few open tents and inside of them, there were plenty of blankets and pillows. If it wasn't for the fact that they were in the sewers, it essentially would have felt nothing different from going camping.
During the night, some slept better than others however. Blink and Grimlock were sharing a tent together, since they had a sibling like bond. Erg was alone, with the exception of his guns of course. Poor Leighton, she froze her tent over during the night! It essentially looked like an attempt to recreate Elsa's ice palace. Fortunately, the ice didn't spread far and no one got hurt.
Sunshine had woken up early. She had an antsy feeling in her stomach - her brain telling her that it was time to run, that she had been in one place too long. However, as she looked up at the faded yellow of her tent flaps and heard the quiet giggles of little kids running around in the background, she couldn't help but grin a bit. This place was amazing. And the cost of admission was getting a cool scar on her face? She could live with that.
"Good morning, Sunshine," Erg told her with a smile, seeing the teenager rocking some major bedhead as she went to the food line. They had Froot Loops, milk, and coffee available that morning for breakfast. A few of the Morlocks went to an old woman, grabbing what seemed to be medication and taking it.
"Morning, Buttface," Sunshine told Erg with a smirk.
Erg stared at her for a moment, chuckling and shaking his head. "Have you decided to stay with us, little one?" he then asked.
"Yeah. Duh. Thought that was obvious - only a freaking moron would say otherwise."
The Black Queen
Reeva Payge, better known as the Black Queen, was not a woman to be trifled with. She had clawed her way to where she was today, with the goal of creating a mutant homeland. Separate and equal is inherently unequal - and she wanted the humans to suffer from it. Any obstacle in her way would be removed no matter the sacrifice. Her hands closed around the warmth of her soy latte, her shades blocking the rays of the sun as she sat on the patio outside of a cafe.
Her phone rang and she set the cup down without hesitation, picking it up and putting it to her ear. "What?" she asked sharply, not in the mood for excuses or delays. There had already been too many, requiring for her to bring another recruit into the fold. The more people her plan required, the more room there was for betrayal and loss of secrecy - something she would not allow to stand. "Mr. Ryan, I am afraid you do not understand the position you are in."
"We had an agreement." Her fingers clicked on the glass of the table, her lips curled with distaste as she listened to the person on the other end of the line. "I don't care how it happens - promise him something and ensure that it is done. This needs to happen for our plans, understood? You have until tomorrow at midnight - or I will have to find someone else to be America's sweetheart."
"You are the worst," Jia Li told Ryuu with a slight smile, rolling her eyes at him. At the mention of the escaped prisoners, Jia Li took a step backwards, as if hiding behind her "husband." She knew gender norms and that women were expected to be protected by the men in their lives. Hopefully, this would help to sell the deal a little bit more. What rogue Fire Nation prisoner would hide behind a man and gasp at the notion of an escape, after all? "I should hope we don't run into them - I wouldn't want to see those brutes," Jia Li said softly.
However, just as it seemed they were in the clear, the guard who had elbowed her in the face walked up to Yumiko. She knew that answering for Yumiko would just bring suspicion - something the people in this group excelled at. At least people had stopped just parroting the same statement over and over again. They'd really need to work on their lies at this rate if they were going to survive. They risked exposing the White Lotus if they couldn't significantly spread falsehoods as well. However, there was one thing that Jia Li knew she could do in order to get the heat off of Yumiko.
People hated public displays of affection. It made them uncomfortable. And so, she pulled Ryuu in for a passionate kiss.
"Yes, it is whatever I want," Virginia replied curtly. She knew that it went against her image of the damsel in distress, but the haughtiness and sense of entitlement from the young man was putting her off. In the Crypt family, manners mattered - just as much as at least a cursory knowledge of ancient poisons and the rhythms of the Mamushka. It was such an odd concept to her that while her family was ridiculed for being macabre and peculiar, other families were down right monstrous in terms of egotism and entitlement. Which one was really worse at the end of the day? Virginia would gladly dance with the dark forces but at least she was not insufferable such as some of the Ton were. She had honor and integrity.
As the carriage was opened, Virginia smiled approvingly. It was sturdy and practical. Yes, the finer things in life were fun but they never tended to be too durable. She got inside and made herself comfortable, ensuring to sit up straight. She hated slouching as her back always ached the next day. The pace of the carriage was acceptable for the moment and her eyes were focused not on the inside, but the outside. She always adored looking out a carriage during a ride - it was just wonderful to see the world go by. Too many people deprived themselves of that sense of wonder.
"I would like to get to know you better," Virginia told her traveling companion. "And I have found that I can learn a lot about a person by asking this - what is something about you I would find shocking or surprising?"
Maeve Brennan
Location: House Kirkpatrick - Study (Main Floor) Skills: N/A
Although she couldn't read, Maeve had no trouble once provided with the drawing of the ship. There were things scribbled around it that she didn't understand, but Millicent helped to fill in the gaps. While Maeve had been expecting something trivial and frivolous, befitting of the upper class, instead it turned out to be something a bit shady and nefarious. From what Maeve could tell, Lady Kirkpatrick's nephew had something to do with a murder of sorts - maybe an intentional wreckage of the ship or an abduction? "T'anks for showin' me," Maeve said with sincerity.
However she had struck a bargain with Millicent and thus she would see that her end of it was fulfilled. "I'll go an' see if I can git this sent roi away," Maeve told her, before she left the study and began searching for a way to get this sent. She had been honest when she told Millicent she hadn't been working here very long. Lady Kirkpatrick had just brought her into the household today, after all. In time she would learn how things operated but at the moment, Millicent's guess as to how to get this sent was as good as hers.
Despite qualifying as a speedster, the likes of the Flash or Quicksilver (though no one really knew about the Marvel character by comparison to the Flash's fame), Leda could be incredibly unaware of her surroundings at times. In fact, she had completely missing Chiron's announcement, despite her sister warning her that it would happen. It could have been part of the ADHD, but she had been informed that it was heightened battle reflexes. Apparently those reflexes didn't cover a centaur talking during a meal. Or maybe she was distracted by the food? She was incredibly hungry and had to eat a lot because of how many calories she burned during a run.
"...Oh, yeah!" Leda blurted a bit, as Chiron called her out. She tried not to blush. It was so elementary school, getting all ashamed at not paying attention to the teacher and all. "Yup, I'll go, it'll be fun. Someone needs to save these slowpokes anyways," she couldn't help but point out. She gave Zeke another nod as well. She knew that the entire ~no more than three~ rule was there for a reason, but they would be bringing demigods back anyways. They'd be over three at some point no matter what, so she hardly saw any point in worrying about it.
Location: Ville au Camp - Carnivale Set Up Skills: N/A
Andromeda gave James a slight smile, chuckling very quietly at his joke. "In my timeline, the Devil razed a city in Washington... So it's not too surprising that the Emendators aren't the only beings that could be called gods," she said very quietly. The conversation between this Siduri and Gilbert felt incredibly heavy, although she had no idea what was being said. She hadn't picked up that language and she couldn't place Siduri's accent. However, the concept of more higher powers did not startle her. The timeline she had come from had prepared her very well for this aspect of being a Paradox. In fact, it would have been more surprising to Andromeda if there weren't other powers out there in the world.
She did of course still have questions about Ben, but she knew that they would have to wait for now. A large part of being a Paradox, at least in Andromeda's case, was figuring out the best time to ask questions. She knew that if she survived this new life for a long time, she likely still wouldn't even scratch the surface of everything there was to know. It also felt like the thing that was tying her here. Sure, she could have said it was due to her family... but really, it was because her curiosity had not yet been satisfied. She couldn't stop poking her head behind the curtain.

Emma seemed a bit disappointed in Skaoi's lack of reaction. He had been hoping that she would know something or get an idea from that, but he figured that not all grown ups were able to spend their time gossiping. They arrived at the Darke section and Emma just stood by the exit, nodding at Skaoi. "Let me know if you need any help, miss," he told her quietly. He wasn't too certain what exactly she was looking for - the entire thing with the CHS had him rattled and he was drawing some blanks.
"Watch your tongue or I might throw you off as well," Runa told Arnora. Her face was completely expressionless, so there would be no telling if she was being sarcastic or not. Still, when it came to dealing with a goddess, Arnora would know from her culture that questioning the divine never ended well. It was a shame that Grimspound had not learned that lesson in his own upbringing. "And I assure you, cousin, he deserved it. It's a sad fact that Midgardians have not yet evolved beyond sexism."
She knelt down next to Rhys' corpse, putting her hands above it and she began to use her own Magyk. The staff pieces gave off a glow and suddenly there was a projection of the energy inside of the body, as if made out of sand or dust. "We may be able to follow Chthon this way," Runa explained. "Magyk is unique to the individual - think of this like his fingerprint. It will take some time, but I believe we can put a Trace on Chthon and find his next manifestation this way before it is too late."
Runa then rose to her feet. "Come, we have a wedding to attend to and I will not allow it to be delayed a second longer," she said, before getting onto the staircase. Once Arnora, Klara, and Lance were on the stairs as well, Runa gave the command for them to go down at double time, depositing them in the entrance way.
The message on the Floor faded away, but all of Wizard Tower seemed to be a bit subdued. The staircase, normally gleaning and energetic, ready to zoom you off to your destination, was somehow depressed. The lighting darkened, becoming a soft purple hue rather than the natural light Wizard Tower usually enjoyed. Of course, the gloom was temporarily abated as Runa and the others made their way down.
"Mother...Father... Auntie..." Halley greeted, seeing the individuals. She looked incredibly relieved to see that they were all in one piece.
"Thalia, Richard," Runa greeted, not surprised at all to see them there. She had met them ages ago, back in a very different time and in what was now called the Big Wild Land Over the Ocean. "Chthon's host succumbed to his injuries - and Chthon Vanished the ExtraOrdinary Wizard. If you would not mind ferrying the children to Asgard, Thalia, I would appreciate it." Runa was the Sorcerer Supreme. Wizard Tower recognized her authority and the goddess knew that she would be expected to give input to the Tower on who to make the next ExtraOrdinary Wizard.
But at the moment, she just wanted to see her son and his fiancée.
Antonije gently set Sylvi down, feeling a bit dazed. His palms were a bit sweaty and his skin was looking paler than normal. It most likely wasn't anything more serious than a fever, but it still brought the rogue to pause for a moment. "...Glad you're fine..." he mumbled, putting a hand to his head. His head had started to pound too and he could barely see, as Antonije stumbled and collapsed to the ground. He didn't even register that Myth's water had broken. He was too weak.
The twins, meanwhile, had zipped over to Myth. Between the two of them freaking out, they were running in circles and accidentally creating a little tornado around Myth out of nerves. "Tata, her water!!!" Marya screamed, her voice sounding a bit distorted from how fast she was running. She was nothing more than a silver blur around Myth, as was the quieter twin, Medea. It was fortunate that Bruce's grandfather actually knew a fair deal about medicine and forgetting his own shame, he hurried on over.
"Stop running around her!" he snapped a bit and the twins slowly down, the wind dissipating as Banner went through and knelt down next to Myth. "Myth, deep breaths, you're going to be okay," he promised. He then hesitated, as Fleur came into the room and their situation became a little bit worse. Turning his head, he had to take a calming breath.
"Valda..." Myrus mumbled, a bit freaked out by all of this. "Maybe we should go home now," he said quietly. Fleur had been the one behind Luna's abduction. One of her witch's, Nera, had killed Myrus' mother. He had seen enough witches to last a lifetime and then some. His hands started to shake and Myrus quickly made sure he wasn't touching anything, just in case it exploded.
Astrid meanwhile went and stood defensively in front of her brother, grandfather, and Myth. "Guys, any chance anyone has any epic powers they've been holding back?" she asked.
"...The Goddess of Lies?" Rainbrook asked, his eyes widening a bit. "Are you, erm, alright? You really... wow, just... that is very bold," he said, rambling a bit. He was culturally from the Land of Long Nights. He knew that gods were not people that were messed with and from what he could tell, Grimspound was lucky to be alive. Some of the gods and goddesses would have killed him without any mercy, as much as mercy could be seen as being thrown off of a tower.
"The erm... the ExtraOrdinary Wizard, how is she?" Rainbrook then asked.
The Playground - Washington D.C.: October 24th, 2020 - 2:45 P.M.
Another system alert will go up at the Playground. Rather than being alerting them to the druggie getting too close to the secret entrance, this time it is alerting them to Purifier activity in the area above the Playground (it is an underground bunker essentially). Purifiers are considered terrorists by S.H.I.E.L.D. - think White Nationalists with guns and an aggressive hate towards mutants.
Dominika Novikova
Location: The Playground - Technology -> Outside - Downtown Washington D.C. Skills: N/A
Novikova nodded confirmation. She wanted to explain to Maria everything, but she was worried they had already said too much on base. Both of their suits were causing them to blend into the background, making it hard but not impossible to see their movements. "Come on," she said quietly. Maria would be able to see the vague outline of Novikova in front of her, allowing her to follow her fellow agent as long as she kept her eyes focused.
Fortunately, Technology was right next to one of the quick exits out of the Playground. Its classified location? Downtown Washington D.C. To be explicit, Novikova and Maria would find themselves near Farragut Square. The homeless druggie that they had seen on the cameras had happened to go a bit too close to the secret entrance to the Playground here, disguised in a nearby alleyway. Scanning the way, Novikova glanced around before motioning for Maria to continue to follow her, as slight flicker of her hand being visible despite the camouflage. "Once we're a few blocks away, I can get a burner and we can use it to contact Pym," Novikova explained. They'd also want to find somewhere away from base with a bit of privacy to change out of these suits.
In the park, however, there was a bit of a disturbance. There were a handful of men, wearing black t-shirts with a large white cross on them. Novikova hesitated for a moment. These were the Purifiers. They had become a problem lately, enough that S.H.I.E.L.D. was trying to assemble an adequate response team. A lot of ex-O.M.E.N. agents had joined their ranks. The main problem was that the Purifiers were already busy engaging with a handful of groups - one of which was only known as the Hellfire Club. Von Bardas had been supplying weapons to the Hellfire Club and there was worry that the warfare would turn deadly.
"Shit, Purifiers," Novikova whispered.
Bonnie Chase
Location: The Playground - Bio-Engineering and Research Skills: N/A
Bonnie bit her lip slightly, but the slight hesitation at the idea of Flynn wanting to take her back to his bedroom already was gone as he kissed her again. She preferred making out with him here in the lab, at least for the moment. It helped to give her the sense that things wouldn't go too far too soon. She felt so warm and happy, until she heard Tempest's voice over the intercom. It shattered the fantasy, but also reminded her that James was supposed to have been the last person she kissed.
She had been married. Bonnie pulled away from Flynn, a bit of stray hair falling in her face as she took a deep breath. After her husband died, she had hit rock bottom and then some. S.H.I.E.L.D. had gotten her the psychiatric help she needed, spending a few months in the hospital before she was able to return to work. And even though it had been years since she lost her husband, it didn't make it any easier. Tempest's question had brought that all to the surface and she had to take a few more deep breaths, trying not to look at Flynn's chest. The lab coat's buttons were straining a bit to contain his muscles.
"I...I'm sorry, I can't do this," Bonnie told Flynn, tearing up a bit. "It's uh, it's not you it's just that... Well I was married a-and he was an agent too and he died," she explained, not knowing how much Flynn knew about James. "I'll um... I'll get back to finding a material for a shirt for you."
Raynor Blake

"I'm good enough to protect your ass," Raynor muttered, coughing a bit again as he continued to run as fast as he could, dragging Sparky along with him. There was a huge danger when it came to getting separated in the Quantum Realm - the odds of finding one another again were almost incalculable. He didn't care too much if they were separated from the Wasp during this attempt to survive the spider swarm. He just needed to make sure that Sparky was okay. And if he died... Well, then at least she would still be alive.
"We can't keep this up much longer," the Wasp gasped. The spiders were rapidly gaining on them. They'd have a choice to make - split up in an attempt to draw them off of two of them, meaning one of them would die, or stand and fight and potentially all die together. "You two go ahead, I'll keep them on me," the Wasp said sternly, sounding like a mother ordering her children.
"Damn it... Janet, no, you have your daughter to think of!" Raynor pointed out. "We'll stand together," he decided, but he was going to have Sparky more or less hide behind him. He knew that she would be useless when it came to fighting off spiders anyways. He took a moment's breath and glanced up, wondering if his family could hear him. "Thor, Odin's Son... My uncle... Lend me your strength," Raynor prayed under his breath.

Guin felt a bit relieved to see her dad pull up in his mustang. It was even better to see that Dr. Banner was with him, since Lance needed medical attention. Even without the X-gene, Lance's genetic make up could be considered special from what Guin understood. "I'm fine, Daddy, just hit my head," she told Tony softly. She moved a bit closer to Pietro.
"What the hell sort of craziness has been going on around here anyway Guin? You just sent us a message without even saying what the hell was happening! Not to mention any sort of head injury can be worse than it seems, you know that."
"You know that trope where they can't think of what to do in the next movie, so they have the good guys get mind controlled?" Guin prefaced. "That's what happened."
"Guinevere, tell me where Lance is NOW!"
Pietro jumped slightly at Banner's yelling. "Uh, Guina? Maybe we should tell him where Lance is..."
"...I hate a lot of those types of movies, they seem dumb if you ask me that... But you're kidding right? Mind control? That's a bit messed up, not going to lie..."
"He's downstairs, operating room," Guin said and Banner shoved her aside, heading into the Mansion and running down the stairs as fast as he could. He wasn't going to let his son die and every second mattered in a situation like this. She let out a slight sigh of relief that he hadn't turned green, though Guin had stumbled slightly from being shoved out of the way.
"...Well, honestly was a bit surprised that he actually didn't Hulk out the entire car ride. He actually was yelling at me to drive faster, this being after we spent time trying to see if there was any blood on hand that was Lance's blood type, unfortunately, we didn't find any... So yeah... Anyway Guin you should get down to the medical area and get that head of yours looked at."
Guin rolled her eyes slightly at her father's insistence she get her head looked at. "I'm fine, Daddy. No need to worry about me okay?" she said, crossing her arms slightly. "Ask Pietro. I'm totally fine. He'd be freaked out if there was a chance I wasn't."
"Actually I am freaking out just was keeping quiet about it..." Pietro muttered.
"Seriously?" Guin sighed.
"Yes really Guina... I was mainly keeping quiet since your dad showed up and Banner was freaking me out a little bit..."
She knew that her father and boyfriend were both overprotective, but it was a bit annoying. There were people down in medical who needed actual help and they wanted her to take up some of Beast's time to look at a minor head injury. It just struck her as selfish. "I'm fine. There are others who need medical now more than I do. Also Piet you hit your head too and I don't see you running to medical for it."
"Yeah, but I also heal about 100 times quicker than you do..."
"Only 100 times faster?" Guin smirked slightly at Pietro, putting a hand on his abs lightly.
Tony rolled his eyes slightly at the pair, and Pietro winced slightly. Guin would be able to tell that there was an electrical burn of sorts on his body. "Piet, let's get you to medical...You've covered in burns." Guin bit her lip slightly, looking him over.
"I'm fine Guina..."
"Well," Guin gave him a soft kiss. "I'm not getting my head looked at until you get looked at too, mister." Speedster or not, he was definitely in worse shape than she was. Accelerated healing could only do so much.
"Nope. Now come on, you are going to have Beast take a look at you or no more kisses and Star Trek!"
"Really Guina? Rude..."
Dean Kesseli
Location: First Sub Basement - Operating Theater Skills: N/A
Dean stared at Richard, unable to tell if he was messing with him or not. The chuckle, the way he was acting... it all put Dean on edge and the poor thing was already dangerous close to snapping. He felt like vomiting with each breath he took, his hands trembling and he couldn't help but continuously look back at them, as if the blood would somehow magically disappear if he looked away for just a second. Then Richard started to explain things about Max - his biological sister - and Dean was disgusted. He just wasn't certain if he was disgusted with Richard or himself. "I wouldn't put other people in danger to do it - innocent people," Dean said softly.
He then looked at his bloody hands again. Hearing Richard's vain excuses for why he withheld information about Dean's sister - information that could have helped him find his sister. Max could be in real trouble. She could be dead. Dean tore his gaze away from his hands for a second, looking at Richard again. He knew that he ought to feel angry. He knew that he did feel guilty for ripping out his kidney like that. He also felt pity.
The door then opened as Dr. Bruce Banner came into medical. "Buddy? Buddy!" He then quickly went over to Lance, grabbing various pieces of equipment and he got to work. It was lucky and unlucky that he was the same blood type as Lance - but they didn't have a choice.
@FantasyChic: As if the universe heard Anastasia's request for a thrift store, it won't be long until she stumbles across THE LARGEST GOODWILL SHE HAS EVER SEEN! Seriously, this place has two stories! Who knew a store that got inventory from donations could even afford to have a two story shop in Washington D.C.? Were they secretly a front for the mob or something? Who knows?! At any rate, just about anything she could possibly dream of wanting to get was likely inside. The Hellfire Club had given her some cash too, so she'd be able to afford it all as well. She could go popping tags all day if she wanted!
@Nallore: Caitlin nodded, taking the phone number from her and tucking it into her pocket. "Mom, I need you!" came from down the hallway and Caitlin looked at them. "Sorry, I think my son needs help with his homework," she explained, before she left the room and was out of sight. Havok and Colossus, of course, were both trying to figure out if Spark Plug was really in good enough shape to move. The bag of drugs was hardly encouraging. "Let us go," Colossus then said, before he shifted out of his steel form and into his fleshy human form.
"We can probably take the metro most of the way back," Havok estimated. It was early evening in Washington D.C., meaning that the stations would be crowded. Purifiers wouldn't be able to follow them too easily and cameras would have a hard time picking them out. "I can reach out to Lorna, see if she can get Thunderbird to come up here and help us track down Veil and Sapphire. I doubt they're holding them anywhere convenient for us," he admitted with a grimace.
Veil
Location: Jail Skills: N/A
Veil couldn't help but grin and giggle a little bit as Sapphire described her friend Freddie. She was clearly in love with the guy, or at least, she was in love with his muscles. The way she was going on about them, Veil had to imagine that they were one of the perks of being held in captivity by the future president of the United States. Yeah, even though she herself likely wasn't going to be able to vote, since she was on the run, Veil kept up with politics. Jakobsen's poll numbers were pretty high. "So basically, his muscles distracted you from torture?" Veil asked, raising an eyebrow.
Sure, it wasn't a healthy crush for Sapphire to have by any means. But it wasn't like there were amazing guys hanging around at the Mutant Underground and she knew Sapphire was as straight as an arrow. She imagined for a moment Sapphire trying to get with Havok, Sunspot, Colossus, or Cannonball... and she couldn't help but start laughing a bit. "Sorry, I'm just picturing you trying to date some of the guys at the Underground - no wonder you started crushing on an O.M.E.N. agent." Still though, talking about Sapphire's past from did give Veil a bit of an idea.
"Do you think Serval Industries would be willing to bail you out?" she asked. Sapphire had worked for them as a part of X-Factor. Sure, Serval wasn't as well known or powerful as say Stark Industries or Pym Technologies, but they had money and power all the same. Maybe even enough to keep them from being sent to Mutant Super-Max.
Sunshine
Location: the Morlock Tunnels Skills: N/A
To let you guys get an idea of what this place looks like better than I could describe it
Sunshine glanced up at the stretchy man, sizing him up once more. He seemed to be really friendly, funny, and sweet - three qualities that rubbed Sunshine a bit the wrong way. Stretch struck her as an annoying little puppy. Sure, puppies were cute but she wasn't a very nice person herself, so it didn't make any sense for a puppy to come over to bother her. She tilted her head slightly, trying to hear what Max was whispering but she couldn't quite make it out.
Instead, now another person was wanting to play her game. The smile on his face was annoying her too. "There's not enough room for more players, sorry," she told Jack and Max, maintaining eye contact. This place seemed amazing, but she wasn't stupid. The last people she had gotten close to ended up in Mutant Super Max - a place there was no returning from. "You guys can have it after I'm done though - I'm sure it's a great game for a first date."
They probably wanted something from her anyways.
Meanwhile, over with Erg another one of the Morlocks came on over - a teenage girl, probably about 14 years old by the looks of it, with a face that looked like a fish. Her skin was blue, whereas her eyes and hair were both pink. She glanced at Erg for a moment and he nodded a bit, as if they had had a nonverbal conversation. "Thank you, Grimlock," he said with a nod. The young girl nodded back at him, her eyes lighting up and then Erg laughed, as if she had said something funny. "Grimlock has the gift of telepathy - she informed me you were wondering how we knew we could trust you when I found you in the tunnels," Erg told James.
Grimlock then waved a bit at him, before she turned to look at Leighton. While with Sunshine, James, and Max the Morlocks had known they were in the tunnels and chose when to reveal themselves, allowing Grimlock time to telepathically scan them and let Erg know they were safe, Leighton had stumbled into their hideout. Grimlock hadn't had a chance yet to examine her. And thus, there was the need for the gun.
"Drama queen, just spit it out," Blink chastised, rolling her eyes at Erg. "Grimmy says you're good." Erg then nodded in agreement, going and setting the gun back down where he had taken it from.
Blink then turned her attention to Leighton. The girl reminded her of some of the kids in foster care who used to bully her, but Blink had come out a stronger person for it. Aside from Stretch, she was one of the more helpful Morlocks, willing to reach out rather than hide in the sewers. "I can take you home. Tell me where you need to go," Blink asked. She'd try to get Leighton as close as she could. It was harder to portal to somewhere she hadn't been before.
