Jack Newnan

Location: Quarantine (W: Conference Room)
Skills: Russian (fluent)

It was becoming increasing difficult to stay calm and focus on keeping Jamie happy and unaware of the tension in the room. Jack didn't know any psychology - but his gut was telling him that his son didn't need to have this memory when he was older. Jamie was going to see enough horrible things - he didn't need to see his mother punch his uncle, Riley swear at her, and everything else that was happening. He wanted to protect his son from the world - from everything in it that he could - and while he couldn't get Jamie out of this room at the moment, he could at least keep him calm and happy.

However, he couldn't stay calm anymore as Hunter began to tear into Tatiana. Asking her if she was stupid. It reminded him very vaguely of one of his earlier memories - when his mother and father were together in the same room, with him shouting at her something along those lines. He took a sharp breath, taking a quick assessment of the room. He couldn't pass off Jamie to anyone at the moment to go yell at Hunter properly himself. He didn't trust Amelia's judgment. Riley was angry. Tatiana and Ash were both fighting. He didn't trust anyone else there. At least the military officers running this show hadn't done anything towards Tatiana just yet.

Jack shifted slightly, gently putting his hands over Jamie's ears. As he spoke, his eyes flickered down every few seconds, just to make sure he didn't need to adjust his hold on his son in order to keep him safe. "I am not goin' to repeat myself, kid," he prefaced, looking at Hunter and not moving from where he was. "If ya speak to my wife again like that - if you yell and scream in front of my kid and sweah - bein' out of people's good books will be the least of your probahlems," he warned.

As Tatiana came over to the couch to grab her pack, Jack gave her a gentle but tired smile. He knew that Tatiana had needed to have that talk with Ash. He didn't like that she had punched him in front of their son, that there had been screaming and yelling. But she was his wife - he was going to support her emotionally as best as he could. His eyes swept over Tatiana's back as she undressed, making damn sure that Jamie couldn't see that. Tears came to his eyes and once more, he felt helpless and lost, not sure what to do or what to say. "1Solovey ... Ty feniks," Jack said softly to Tatiana. Whenever he spoke, he kept his tone either steady and even or soft and kind. He didn't want to upset Jamie with more anger.

And then, as if the universe was trying to test him, Ash came over and had the nerve to say that he was disappointed in him. "You're disappointed in me?" Jack asked, his voice steady but only for Jamie's sake. He was shaking on the inside. "Walk away from me, fine. I get that you're hurtin' real badly, Ash. And this? This wasn't pretty. I am Tatiana's husband and Jamie's fathah. My job is to keep my family safe - to keep my kid from gettin' messed up from seein' all of this or hurt if a fight spread. Who was I gonna have take Jamie? Not Red - she's a sweet kid but she doesn't have common sense. Not Riley, not you and not Tatiana. So would ya have been less disappointed if I let Jamie crawl on the ground, with people we don't even know? People who coulda hurt him?"

There was a lot more that Jack wanted to say to Ash, but he didn't. Now wasn't the time for that. Now wasn't the time to bring up the pain Jack felt every time Ash acted like he was Jamie's father - like he was Tatiana's husband. There had been things that Ash said to his son before Jack had a chance to, things that Jack should have said first. Promises Jack should have been the first to make.

He took another deep breath, trying to keep himself calm. He never had a good father. He didn't have happy memories of him. He wanted Jamie to have happy memories - he was too little to have dark ones, too little to see his family fall apart.

Skills: Hand-to-Hand Combat, Stamina

With all of the drama, tension, and chaos in the room, Beatrice kept her concentration on Alexander. Unfortunately, not moments after the screaming had stopped, it started up again with some young kid. She stared at him, wondering what level of human stupidity he was attempting to achieve here. How blind did he have to be, to not see what a colossal mistake he was making? He was triggering Alexander's mental issues - triggering pain to someone that was not needed. She wouldn't have cared but Alexander was her people. And Beatrice didn't mind if she was told she couldn't stay here. She would be just fine. Thalia was helping with Alexander as well, seeing if she could get him to a quiet place to sit.

That was good. Beatrice didn't care for the threats that some of the men were shooting towards Hunter. They were not actions - just words. Most likely, someone this idiotic would make this same mistake again. It also helped that Beatrice enjoyed a good physical altercation. And the longer she was here, the more she felt like she was back in juvi again. Only fists would teach a lesson. "I've got this," she told Thalia and Alex simply. Then without a second thought, she turned and tackled Hunter to the ground.

She kept a firm grip on him, pinning him like a pro, preventing him from getting back up again. This was how warnings were sent back home. This is how Beatrice knew to operate. Without feeling any remorse, she looked down at him simply. "Now, if you scream or try to get out of this, I will break your arm," Beatrice said. "Consider this your first warning. You only get one. Next time, I will kill you. And unlike the others here, I make good on my word. They're good people. I'm not. I just pretend to be one." She still didn't release him, waiting to see how he reacted. She didn't care what the officers would do to her. Kill her, kick her out, hurt her - whatever. It was a strange feeling, being willing to risk herself for Alexander's mental health. She didn't know if she should be afraid of that or not - if she was losing her edge.

What she did know was that she was looking forward to inflicting pain on Hunter if he didn't learn his lesson instantaneously. "Do you understand or do I need to have them waste medical supplies here on your soon to be broken arm?"

Washington D.C.: September 8th, 2020 - 10:45 AM

The Mutant Underground - D.C. Station:

The others split up, following Callie's orders. Negasonic texted the list of addresses to a group chat, with each of the teams indicating which one they'd want. Colossus also added into the group chat that Stretch was looking into finding Veil and Sapphire, and that the investigator would call back once he had some information for them. "Hold on, gotta do something real quick," Havok said as he got into Callie's car.

He renamed the group chat Havok's Dirty Bitches and cackled, looking over at Spark Plug for a second to see if it got a rise out of her. He then copied and pasted in the address of the shelter they were headed to, bringing it up in one of the navigation apps on his phone. "Alright, says we should be there in about 13 minutes, as long as we avoid traffic," he told Spark Plug.

The Surface - Sidewalk Outside the National Zoo:

People are passing them by on the sidewalk, but no one is paying them any real attention. A little dark skinned girl is licking an ice cream cone, excitedly skipping along as she enthusiastically tells her parents all the facts she can remember about the snow leopards at the zoo. "Did ya know a snow leopard can leap SIX TIMES the length of its body, Daddy?!" the little girl excitedly chirped, as the weary parents headed into the zoo proper. Of course, the dear little thing was loud enough that Max, Jack, and Leighton would be able to hear a faint "they even eat blue sheep!"

The Cherry Bomb - a.k.a. the Dive Bar...:

The dive bar that the kid told her about? It won't be hard to miss. The neon sign advertising it as the Cherry Bomb is only outdone by the variety of pride flags that are being used as curtains. Once inside, she'll notice that there is a karaoke area in the back and that there isn't really anyone trying to card people. It's a risky business tactic, but that is neither here nor there. Currently singing along to Summer Lovin' is a cheerful looking pink haired girl. Little sparks of electricity were jumping off of her hands as she danced along to the song. Anastasia will be able to figure out that she is most likely Yukio.

Veil

Location: Jail
Skills: N/A
Although Veil knew that they had more important things to talk about than Sapphire's love life, she couldn't help it. The wounds that they had inflicted on her during that interrogation were incredibly painful, with the black eyes being so swollen that she could barely see her friend. Sapphire could have fallen silent and hidden underneath her bed and Veil wouldn't be able to really know if she was alone in the room or not. Besides, not every moment of her life could be dedicated towards helping mutants in need.

Sometimes, she needed to giggle with her friend over hot guys. Or girls. Veil didn't have a preference either way, though she knew that Sapphire most certainly did. "Okay, so if he is just a friend... Let's play a game then, shall we? Fuck, marry, kill. Freddie Flynn, Iron Man, and the Hulk. Go," Veil prompted her, smirking slightly. She used to play that sort of game at the Institute growing up - but back then, it had been Cyclops, Gambit, and Wolverine. She always picked to sleep with Wolverine. She usually picked Cyclops to kill and Gambit to marry. There was just something about the douchebag in shades that threw her off. And Gambit, being Cajun, at least spoke to her French-Canadian background.

There was no indication that the guards were coming for them - which could be good or bad depending on how you looked at it. It meant that they wouldn't have another round of beatings, but also that Sapphire's "friend" wasn't there to bail them out yet. She hoped that he would make it there before the police decided to transfer them to a more permanent facility. Veil didn't want to end up in Mutant Super-Max. People who went there were hardly ever heard from again - and she knew of only one successful escape attempt by a mutant named Blink.

Sunshine

Location: the Morlock Tunnels
Skills: N/A
Sunshine shook her head slightly, tipping it forward slightly so that way James could see better. Her injuries were gone. There was a slight bruise where she had been hit, but it wasn't anything that she couldn't live with. She had been in juvenile detention for a while and had spent almost her entire life living on the streets - if she couldn't deal with a bruise, then she wouldn't have survived this long. "Nah, I'm good," she told him. The confusion in his voice caused her to giggle slightly. She had figured that he would have gotten how the world worked in her opinion - but nope, he seemed to be soft and naive and nice and squishy. "But I guess I owe you one - so if you hate someone and want to bring them some Swine Flu as a gift, just let me know."

She took her Yo-Yo out, putting the loop around her finger and Sunshine let it drop. Just before it hit the ground, it snapped right back up into her hand and she smiled slightly. It had always been her favorite toy. Her mother's boyfriends would always bring her a Yo-Yo, especially if they wanted alone time with her mother and needed Sunshine to entertain herself for about half an hour. Letting the Yo-Yo continually rise and fall, the experience was calming to her. However, the silence didn't last that long as Erg came on over.

"We should be conducting the supply run shortly - Blink believes that the supplies you want are in an old warehouse across town. She'll Blink you and a few others inside. How many do you need to take with you to accomplish this?" Erg asked James bluntly.

"Count me in!" Sunshine chimed in instantly. "I'm great at stealing things." She looked a bit proud of herself for that statement, causing Erg to chuckle a bit.

Casper's phone started to ring and he didn't even notice. It was in his hand and Ben stared at him, the ghost trying to figure out if he really needed to prompt Casper this much to engage with reality. He knew that his friend wasn't stupid, despite popular opinion - he just had the observational skills of a blind mouse. Shaking his head a bit, Ben sighed, resigning himself to his afterlife of being a babysitter to his friend. "Casper, your phone."

"My phone? Oh... OH!" Casper chuckled a bit. Ben hit his hand against his forehead, still not quite believing that this was happening. Sure, people had looked for their phone before when it was in their hand - but Casper didn't even realize his phone was ringing as he held it. Wouldn't he feel the vibrations or something? It really made Ben wonder what exactly went on in Casper's mind...

Accepting the call, Casper put his phone to his ear, but not before spotting that he had a low battery warning. And no charger. That hadn't been on him when they checked him into rehab and given that he was pretty certain he had no stuff left - he didn't remember whose place he had been crashing at left - there was no chance of getting that charger back. Maybe he had left it at a rave or something? It seemed likely. "Heeeey Jackie!" Casper greeted enthusiastically. "See, told you he'd call," Casper added to Ben.

"I am so relieved," Ben muttered, rolling his eyes. "At least when Jack is around, I won't be the only one nagging at you to get your act together."

"Shut up, Ben," he muttered, not really caring that Jack was hearing what likely sounded like a one sided conversation. Some people made the mistake of assuming that Casper was schizophrenic. He wasn't. At least, not yet. His family's mental health history wasn't the greatest though, earning a solid D- in terms of stability. "You're not getting any waffles if you're mean to me."

"I can't get waffles anyways, I'm dead!"

Present Day - The Castle: May 4th, 12,508 - 10:30 PM

Outside the Palace - @eclecticwitch@KazAlkemi

It is incredibly dark outside - which is understandable, as the sun set a few hours ago. Mona will be able to see that there seems to be more lapis lazuli heading inside of the Palace, but she has Amarantha to deal with...

Wizard Tower - Entrance Hall - @BlueSky44@KazAlkemi

It seems the Floor has a message for you.

Thalia and Richard departed quietly, sensing that this was a time for just immediate family. And as Fleur left, there was only Myth and her fiancΓ©, as well as his parents and his grandfather left. Dr. Banner continued to work, gently pulling out the baby and allowing for Bruce to cut the cord. Once that was done, he wrapped up the baby in blankets, a bit worried due to the extremely small size. "It's a boy," Banner said, trying his best to stay calm. "But he is premature... We'll need to take him to Asgard. I have what we need there to ensure that he is healthy, until he's big enough to live without my help," Banner explained.

Runa nodded. She wasn't going to risk her grandchild's life. And given that Bruce didn't have his powers, that left her. Taking the pieces of Gandr, she placed them next to each other and it snapped back into a staff. Closing her eyes, she began to mutter in an ancient tongue, before a portal of sorts opened. "Come, we will go to Asgard at once," Runa explained, keeping the portal open with her magic. Someone else would need to carry Myth on through. Banner was holding the child for the moment, though he gave the boy to Myth, knowing that she would want her infant son.

She didn't answer Ahote - mostly because her grandson was being born and she was focused on that.

Wizard Tower - the Courtyard - @BlueSky44

Rainbrook hugged Zekarra back tightly, crying into her shoulder. He knew he wasn't as bright or strong as his sister, but his mother had entrusted him with this job. She had told him that she remembered him being there - and that without him, she didn't know if she would survive. But now, nothing was anything like what he had been prepared for. "Th-thank you, Zekarra..." he said softly. He hesitated slightly, but then decided against saying something more.

"It'll be alright Rainbrook... We'll figure it out..."

He nodded, still crying. "You're my best friend... You know that, right?"

"I guess if I didn't know, I definitely do now... I already knew though..."

Rainbrook fell silent, not sure how to respond to that. Eventually, Thalia and Richard came outside. Zekarra's mother transformed into a magnificent silver dragon, scooping them all up and they vanished in a flash of silver, departing the Castle after a night of so much tragedy.

The Palace - the Queen's Room - @BlueSky44@Nallore

Myrus shook his head. "I won't lose you again, Valda... Witches took you from us once already...For years...I-I can't let you go again," he admitted, his eyes tearing up a bit as he wiped them on his sleeve. He had lost his father - he had lost his mother. He had just gotten Valda back not that many months ago and he didn't know if he could deal with the pain of losing her. And if Fleur killed Valda, he knew that she would hunt them down and kill them as well. They'd be rivals to her throne. "Please, Valda... Let the wizards deal with Fleur..."

His hands started to glow and Myrus took a step backwards, trying his best to calm down but it wasn't working. His big sister essentially had just told them she was going to stay behind on a suicide mission. Fleur could get inside of her head - she could torture Valda. His mind kept on coming up with more and more horrible things that Fleur could do to her, a lot of them inspired by what he had read about one of the gods from the Land of Long Nights - Loki, the trickster.

It gave him an idea. "...Wh-what if we stayed behind and helped you - helped you trick Fleur?" he then asked.

The Badlands - the Observatory

Once Fleur returned back to her flock, she would find them in the midst of celebration. Bonfires had been constructed outside of the observatory, with some of the children joining hands in a circle around them and dancing. Constance and Bernice were watching the young ones from a bench. Jezebel was serving dishes of fresh fruit to those who were hungry and had missed the evening meal. Never before had there been such a joyous occasion here at Fleur's home. And she would notice that amongst one of the circles around the fire, Princess Meadow had donned a witch's cloak and was happily running around in the fun. Her guards watched suspiciously from half a dozen paces back.

"It was you," Constance told Fleur confidently, getting up and walking on over to her. "You saved our people, Witch Messiah," Constance added, taking Fleur's face in her own and pressing a kiss to each cheek. "What now?" Bernice then asked, looking eager to pounce on something.

Walnut nodded, smiling slightly at the fact that the Lord of the Manor would bring those responsible to light. If she had truly been mistaken about Dr. Swamp, the apology would smooth things over. And if not, the Lord of the Manor would have him executed or dealt with appropriately for his transgressions. She had no difficulty imagining what sort of things Dr. Swamp could have done, things that would have caused him to receive the invitation to come here, to wear a mask and use a false name. She had to imagine that he was being blackmailed as well, as were all of the other unexpected guests. She would have continued to weave this imaginary tale for herself, of what her companions could have done, but there was more important matters at hand and she could not be distracted. Dr. Swamp seemed to have accepted her apology, allowing Walnut to mentally reevaluate him for a moment.

"And what exactly is your experience?" Walnut asked the Chanteuse. She knew who the woman was, having known her identity before Amaranthine had even removed her mask. However, she did not need to let onto that fact - not now, anyways. She followed Amaranthine's gaze, spotting the other group that was coming out and Walnut was glad to see that sight. They could join in with the others. Truthfully, she did not care to ease Swamp's agony or to afford him less walking up the steps - no, she simply wished for a change in companions. She did not know if the men escorting them would allow for them to seamlessly blend into this group and her hands did ache considerably from that searing pain, but Walnut was determined to put distance between herself and Swamp if allowed.

Cecily Ashworth

Location: Grimm, Indiana (Police Station)
Skills: N/A

"Please don't fuck anyone, we don't need a Daken running around," she told Roy, referring to one of the comic book characters known for both his sex appeal and being the son of Wolverine. Of course given that this was Cecily, she didn't care much about the former and instead focused on the latter. She nodded her head slightly as Roy asked her if Keystone knew anything else, typing out a message on her phone and texting it to the man in question: Interesting. Anything else you know? she replied. She then glanced up, just in time to see Roy spill food onto the ground and she sighed a bit.

"Has anyone ever told you you're a bit of a slob?" she pointed out. However, her mood quickly soured as she saw Roy take his gun out and her heart started pounding. They had gotten away from Justice. She had gotten away from Caesar's secret lair of a home in Mexico. Natasha had most likely been murdered in front of her. And now, here she was, in a completely new city and already the danger level was hitting the fan. The fun of talking comics and watching Roy act like a child was over. Her survival instinct was telling her to run away, to avoid all of this and just go to the safety of a university. But she wouldn't ever be safe again - she knew that, deep down. She knew too much probably - or had gotten into the way - or some other justification that a super villain would use for having to order her death.

She nodded slightly, her hands shaking a bit as she stayed behind Roy and followed him. She had a bad feeling about this.

Jia Li

Jia Li rolled her eyes slightly, crossing her arms. Just after she told people to not repeat the same thing, as if they were conspiring to irritate her, Hiroyuki and Rila did exactly that. They both essentially commented on the kiss and the seduction attempt, before giving the same pitch to find shelter if they weren't able to make it to the next town. Honestly, why even waste the breath if it was just going to be the same exact thing someone else had said moments before? The firebender glanced at Yumiko and she nodded at her former cellmate. Men really did seem to want the same thing at the end of the day - her tutor, Xuan Xinyi, had been a prominent exception. He was more of a father to her than General Zheng had ever been. "Relax," Jia Li told Ryuu, siding with Yumiko.

The prospect of a day's journey to the next town was bearable but annoying. She didn't like the idea of stopping before they got a town over to safety, but they would need to rest eventually. They couldn't just walk the entire night without paying for that choice later. The injuries in their group would definitely slow them down. She regretted that they hadn't had some sort of animal to travel with, in order to make the journey faster, but that couldn't be helped. They would just draw more attention that way, anyways. "We might be able to find something to fashion into another walking stick along the way," Jia Li added, not knowing if the waterbender would be able to heal.

Virginia Crypt

Location: Carlisle
Skills: N/A

Virginia had to think for a moment, considering the question that Ny had asked her in return. It was indeed fair for him to turn the tables on her and as she had learned much through the stories of her family, Virginia decided to focus on her family once more. There was something marvelous that had happened recently - something extraordinary that she was one of the few who could tell. The others she had informed about what had happened - they were dead. She doubted that they would come back as a Soulless to spoil this. "My parents have been on an extended voyage for some time - a voyage that many believe has caused them to pass onto the next life."

This was just the preface, of course. "At the funeral of my dear friend Mosi, a message from my father was sent to me - through the flames," she told him. "He made contact with me - instructed me to Seek Life Elsewhere." She knew it wasn't strictly about her, but communication through fire with a supposedly deceased parent she figured counted as surprising. Virginia certainly had not been expecting it at Mosi's funeral. Perhaps Ny might be able to shed some light on it. She had yet to consult with someone of his exact background on it. Her mind then flickered back to the woman she had seen at the Mamushka. So many extraordinary and terrible things were happening all at once. Had her brother not been placed in danger, she would have been able to enjoy the macabre delights more properly.

She then peered out the window again, wondering how much longer it would be. "Though... I would love to explore that forest. Perhaps I can convince Ludwig to be my guide," she mused, referring to their earlier line of conversation.

Maeve Brennan

Location: House Kirkpatrick - Outside of the Study (Main Floor)
Skills: N/A

Maeve rolled her eyes in disgust as Rutherford came up to her, asking her in that tone about the letter she was carrying. Maeve tightened her grip on it, ready to give the man a good smacking if he tried to take it from her. She was hired to serve Lady Kirkpatrick - not the entitled behavior of these titled men. If Lady Kirkpatrick asked her to attend to them, then that would be fine - annoying but fine. It was all for Roisin. "Tis none av yer business what it'iz," Maeve told him matter of factly. Sure, she had no doubt that whatever Millicent had put inside of this letter, it was indeed connected to Rutherford but she didn't care. She didn't have the patience to stomach his ego unless she absolutely had to.

Millicent then appeared, preventing further questioning from Rutherford. Maeve supposed that he liked her for her beauty - she seemed very mild mannered and vulnerable. Perhaps there had been something more there, but she didn't know and it wasn't really any of her business. She then heard Lord Rutherford explain that the two men would not be back until evening - and it gave her an idea. She would be able to investigate if she wished. However, given that she could not read and these men struck her as the type to leave incriminating evidence in the form of the written word, there wasn't much use there. "Aye, I'll tell m'lady," she told Rutherford as he left. She then remained where she was, still holding onto Millicent's letter.

She still needed to get this sent off. She decided to wait until she knew Rutherford and Millicent had left, and then she'd just leave it by the front.

Leda Storm

Location: Outside Cabin Nine

Leda normally would have rolled her eyes at anyone who proclaimed a ride to be pretty quick - but in this case, it was probably true. The pegasi pulling the chariots reminded her of her godly mother for a moment, and she glanced up towards the sky, wondering where Iris was at that moment. She could have been running off to deliver a message - in fact, that seemed to be a good portion of what her mother did. It was part of this reason why Leda and some of her siblings were able to move at extraordinary speeds. Combine that with the rainbow powers, and they turned into a more modern day version of the Flash. "I swear, you would make an excellent turtle," Leda teased her friend, sticking her tongue out slightly.

She then crossed her arms a bit as Zeke went over his proposal for the plan. It wasn't bad, but she doubted the demigods they were about to get would believe them. People had a way of rationalizing away strange things, of avoiding a painful and shocking truth. She couldn't blame them for that. Normal people didn't just believe that their life was a lie and one of their parents was a god all too easily. "Sounds like a fine plan. Though if we're voting for leader, I vote for not Zeke. Just to clarify, this isn't me voting for everyone else - this is me adding a negative vote to you." She smirked slightly at him.

Jack Newnan

Location: Quarantine (W: Conference Room)
Skills: Russian (fluent)

Jack didn't want to think about the day that Newnan had fallen - the day he lost everything. He used to replay the events of that day in his head before he went to sleep, as if somehow doing that would allow him to change things, to save Tatiana from her then unknown fate. The day was a testimony to his failure to keep his family safe - to his inability to prepare for a disaster. He had barely survived it and Tiffany, the one he left Newnan with, had died. It could have just as easily have been him. And here they were now, what felt like an eternity later, and he couldn't help but worry that Tatiana would be deemed violent and would be kicked out of the community. Yes, he cared for Ash's feelings and he knew that Ash had to be in a lot of pain, but his mind was focused on his family's safety.

Ash was bleeding and Jack made sure to shift Jamie, that way the little guy wouldn't be able to see. He didn't need to add to the emotional trauma that it pained him to know his son likely would grow up with. This world wasn't one where people ended up with good mental health. "1ВсС Ρ…ΠΎΡ€ΠΎΡˆΠΎ, Π”ΠΆΠ΅ΠΉΠΌΠΈ, ΠΏΡ€ΠΈΡΡ‚Π΅Π»ΡŒ? Папа здСсь," he reassured his son softly, smiling at the little baby even though on the inside he didn't feel like smiling at all. Someone was begging for the screaming to stop. Jack's hearing felt a little fuzzy - as if cotton balls had been shoved in his ears and he just focused on his baby. His baby - the baby of the woman who might not be allowed to stay because of this.

Jack knew that earlier, he had been thinking that he wouldn't leave any member of his family behind - that either they all got in or they all would leave. But that choice seemed selfish now. As long as Jamie had one parent inside, he would be at peace with that. His heart was aching for Tatiana but it was breaking for his son. His eyes darted upwards as one of the men they had come in with was moving towards Tatiana and his heart started to beat a little faster. His wife swore at Riley and started talking about Rasputin. The screaming at least stopped and Tatiana cleaned up a shattered coffee mug.

He didn't know what to do.

Beatrice Decker

Location: Quarantine (W: Conference Room)
Skills: N/A

Beatrice was satisfied with her choice to stay out of this. She had lost a lot of people over the years - but she never thought of any of them as being her people until she had left Newnan's community. It was a fundamental shift in her thinking, spurred on by the fact that she had become friends with James and Ryan. She had chosen to let them be her people - her very first people. Thana, Manny, Alex, and Thalia were simply the second wave from that shift. She wasn't reacting as explosively as the others were to the news that Thana was dead as Beatrice had written her off as dead a long time ago. If anything, she would have been angry to discover that Thana was alive. To her, alive meant that Thana had betrayed them - that she had not had the decency to say goodbye. Perhaps it was cold of her, but that was how Beatrice was. People died all of the time in this life. Thana had died a good person - a friend. She'd remain that way. It was this train of thought that kept her from screaming and punching, from going over to Thalia and Alex and the others.

She caught Thalia looking over in her direction, and while she made eye contact, Beatrice didn't say a word. If she was going to be honest with herself, she was a little upset still over Thalia's earlier comment - the one that had caused her to want her own space. Maybe Thalia assumed that she needed to be alone because of Thana's death. She didn't. Beatrice was more or less determined to get her people safely accepted into this community, which would be an easy task now given that they all look nice and stable in comparison to Tatiana, and then she would most likely leave and strike out on her own. She had strayed too far from her own path over the last year or so.

However, as Alex had a bit of a moment, Beatrice's eyes snapped to attention and she got up, walking on over to him. She crossed her arms before standing sort of off to his side, as if challenging anyone to come up and try to talk to him. He needed a moment. The very least she could do was enforce that with a glare that could kill.
