PE Fade Between:

There was something comforting about Sophia's reference to the Wizard of Oz. There were so many things about their timelines that were different, especially since the majority of the Paradoxes had come from a nightmarish world that sounded so much like it came out of a comic book about the zombie apocalypse. Andromeda couldn't relate to zombies - but her world had had stories about the yellow brick road too, so there was a comforting commonality there. Her eyes continued to scan the horizon, feeling a slight wind brushing up against her face. Hopefully this place wasn't in the midst of nuclear winter or anything like that. If there was anything hiding amongst the leaves of the trees, they were expertly concealed. Something did catch her attention though - a sign of life! She squinted her eyes, putting her hand perpendicular to her forehead in an attempt to see better. "Birds - that's a good sign," she said, partially to reassure herself but also to alert the others to what she could see.

For once, Gilbert actually had some decent advice - they shouldn't just pause in the middle of the road here. His thought that they could be in an extremely small piece of reality reminded her a lot of the show Doctor Who, but she couldn't discredit his notion. There were far more amazing and seemingly improbable things in the universe than she had ever dreamt of - it was discovering them that got her blood pumping. What was to say they hadn't ended up on some narrow strip of existence? Maybe this was all that remained after the timelines all collided and collapse - just a road in the middle of nowhere in particular. Her eyes darted towards the side of the road as a shimmering haze appeared there - had the haze reestablished itself in a new form this time? Was this piece of reality about to collapse?

Something was coming towards them and deep down, she privately hoped that it was James. Instead, a figure emerged, slowly coming into focus and detail, and instantly she was reminded of Lady Justice. The individual was blind folded, holding scales and a scythe. Her words only helped to cement the impression. Her heart was beating quickly and her mind had already come up with an answer for what her choice would be. If she had more time to analyze her thought processes, she probably would have been a little bit horrified at her own answer.

And sure, she could have waited for the others to give their own thoughts first but her intuition was telling her not to hesitate here. "Are you Justice?" Andromeda asked quickly, not able to hold back her curiosity, before her eyes flickered to the left. "... I think punishment," she said. "If we're going to figure out what's going on and save the multiverse... I don't think peace is an option for us."

Nancy rolled her eyes slightly as Lauren advised not following the skeleton - some people were so easily repulsed by the macabre. The young (appearing) Emendator had lived through too much to really be horrified with the creepy and bizarre, even finding a certain element of delight in those woeful tales and sights. Of course, the skeleton also proved to be the key in her recollection as to just where they were. It was one of her regrets in life that she hadn't lived in Greece when it was truly at its peak - she had been living in the once Greek colony of Callatis at the time, seeing its transformation into a portion of the Roman Empire when Lucullus conquered it. One of her fellow Emendators, Evelina, had lived in Greece proper for ages. She would have known all about this place, but fortunately Nancy had read about it even though she had not experienced that culture in its fullest. "Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to the Greek Underworld," Nancy announced. "Or as it would be called by those who believed in it - Erebus, a welcoming ground of sorts for the souls of the recently deceased."

There were more than two other Emendators somewhere here - she had to imagine that meant Evelina, Giouse, and Gilbert. Oh, she would have loved to see Drem here but she did not believe it would be so. His fate had been sealed a long time ago. "It bears a striking resemblance to the Garden State," she grinned a bit, glancing at Richard. He and Faye were both on her list of people she did not have an urge to strangle. Josephine was on that list as well. Her gut was telling her that the only way to deal with this situation was to just go on through. They would need to make some sort of trade with this man to be able to continue onwards. She wasn't going to trade away her Cards, but there was something else on her that she kept that was of value.

Taking off her pendant, she held it out to the man - it had an Eihwaz Rune. It seemed fitting here anyways, as the rune symbolized life and death, Yggdrasil, and the yew tree. "How's this for a trade?" Nancy asked. "It's genuine - Loki's own pendant."

The Small Wet Country Across the Sea: November 5th, 12,508 - 10:50 PM

The Palace Crypt - the Castle...

The little boy, hardly older than five, happened to be Milo, the groundskeeper's son. He was a fairly quiet child, preferring to spend his time in the gardens among the plants rather than talking with other people. It had become a bit of a point of contention with his teacher at the Yellow School in the Ramblings. "I'm fine..." Milo mumbled, gingerly accepting Luna's request and crawling out from the coffin he had been hiding in. There was blood on his shirt, but it was hard to tell if the blood was Milo's or not.

The group wouldn't be alone for long though, as there was the sound of footsteps going down the stairs. Amarantha and Apollodora. Apollodora smirked slightly, recognizing the Royals assembled there. "Queen Valda - a pleasure," she said, crossing her arms. "Biter head? Cool." Almost as if on cue, the head started to hiss dramatically, bearing its fangs - did the little vampire expect that they were just going to waltz on over there and allow themselves to be bitten? "Are you gonna kill that or do I have to do it for you?" Apollodora then asked.

The head hissed at her and the time traveler rolled her eyes, sarcastically hissing back (though she lacked the fangs for it). "Annoying piece of shit," she muttered.

Myrus Silvers

Location: Private Courtyard - the Palace
Skills: Court Etiquette, Castle History, Castle Legends
"Oh I'm fucking peachy," Erasmus rasped, a black fluid dripping out of his mouth as he talked. The beheaded vampire didn't seem to have taken on any additional damage, even with Bruce using his cosmic flames to transport them back in time. The group landed in the courtyard outside the Palace, essentially in between the barracks and the Royal Family's dwelling. The death and decay was not nearly as bad here as it had been out in the front lawn by the boat launch where Bonfire Night had been celebrated. Myrus wished that their foes could have been more like Byleirst - at least they had been able to more or less reason with the Frost Giant.

Myrus was dismayed to see everything that had happened here once again. It wasn't just a complete failure on their part to keep the people of the Castle safe, but it also showed how woefully ill prepared they were. He had been trying to Fleur-proof the Palace and he had utterly failed. If these vampires could get in so easily, why hadn't she come to kill them yet? Was she toying with them like food? The prince's hands started to tremble and they glowed softly as his ability threatened to unleash itself on the unwary. "W-well... Like I said, the myths say it starts with Baldur's death so... Maybe we just convince the God of Light to hide somewhere? I'd say here but... This place clearly isn't safe," Myrus explained softly. His stomach was still tied into knots as they hadn't found his sisters yet.

There was one place he could think of though that would conceivably be safe. "The Port Palace, maybe... It's hidden, no one can get inside unless Valda or Luna or I let them in... It's got some serious Magyk to in there, I think I read once that you can somehow even get to the Lagoon by it in seconds..."

Antonije Magnisky

Location: Room 847 - the Ramblings
Skills: Telepathy
He was a little bit disappointed that Sylvi was agreeing to his idea - part of him had hoped that she would push back, accuse him of coming up with vile and evil ideas, and refuse to take part in them. Antonije thought the world of her and he didn't want her to turn into a monster like him, but she was going to need to kill in order to survive. There was then the entire problem of Arya Rincewind and her vendetta, as that most likely would include Sylvi now, but he could tackle one issue at a time. Maybe he would be back to get her out of the country - bards could work anywhere. They could go to the Big Wild Land maybe. That place seemed nice.

Antonije kissed her forehead. I'll handle everything. We can ration him out for you, make sure you don't run out too fast... he offered. Slowly, he let go of her, allowing her out of his grasp. His movements were hesitant and slow, ready to resume his earlier cuddling position within a moment's notice if it was required. Giving her a smile, he moved around the small little room, looking for something that he could use to end the man's life. He didn't really feel like getting into his head - not now. He wanted to keep his telepathic powers ready for Sylvi if she needed it - and as an early warning system if Arya were to turn up.

"Perfect," he finally said, pulling a hammer from his tools. "I'll be back with your snack in a minute, unless you want to join me?"

Halley Banner

Location: Courtyard -> Entrance Hall -> Outside the Pyramid Library - Wizard Tower
Skills: N/A
A hologram of the Tesseract flickered to life in Arnora's hands, the strangely glowing blue cube visible for all to see. There was no sign of recognition in Rowland's eyes, but that was hardly surprising. Very few people on Midgard had ever heard of an Infinity Stone before, most of those who did came from the Eastern SnowPlains, and those who knew what a containment vessel such as the Tesseract would look like comprised an even smaller group. "You Felt her power?" Rowland asked. Halley was braced for Rowland to smack Cuyler around again, to maybe go on some sort of rant about how Cuyler couldn't have possibly sensed that, but only an uncomfortable silence followed those words.

Cuyler was also surprisingly managing to keep his powers under control, as if he hadn't just been told about Arya's death and had instead been informed that it might rain later that evening. The anger in Rowland's shoulders released as he stepped backwards and to the side, allowing the small group entrance to Wizard Tower. "You two may peruse our library, accompanied by Jarvis Yule," Rowland told Halley and Arnora, though his eyes were on Cuyler. "Cuyler, we need to discuss this - privately. If you're right... Then what has happened to Arya is worse than death..."

"... Alright-y then," Halley commented, stepping into Wizard Tower. It had been a while since she was there and the Floor flashed up at her in its usual overly colorful greeting. It was one of the more beautiful uses of Magyk in Wizard Tower, the way the soft sands of this floor would rearrange and change in color, identifying each person who tread through the entrance hall.

To Rowland, the Floor greeted:

To Halley:

To Arnora:

To Cuyler:

Halley couldn't help but snicker a little bit, spotting the flashing colors that appeared at Cuyler's feet. "Thank you, Rowland," she then said, regaining her composure. Had Cuyler not been in so vulnerable a state, she probably would have teased him more about it, but she sensed he had been through enough for the moment.

The ExtraOrdinary Wizard nodded and within a few moments, Jarvis Yule had come down the moving staircase. "... What is he doing here?" he asked instantly, zeroing in on Cuyler. He didn't recognize the girls with him, but he doubted Cuyler's presence here at Wizard Tower meant anything good.

"He and I are going to discuss some matters - I'll fill you in later, Jarvis. Now if you would please take these two ladies to the Pyramid Library and assist them with whatever they need, I'll come to retrieve them once I finish with Cuyler," Rowland said.

Jarvis nodded, still looking a bit skeptical about this situation. "Alright, let's go," he said, mouthing the word motherfucker at Cuyler before he stepped onto the staircase and waited for Arnora and Halley to join him. Once the pair of them were on the stairs, he instructed for the staircase to move at time, the rotating steps not ceasing until they were on the landing for the Pyramid Library. "Ready?" Halley asked Arnora.

Maeve Brennan

Location: Gretna Green - Church
Skills: Deasmhumhnach, Shuibhne

For a brief moment, she wished that the Lady Kirkpatrick was there fighting alongside them. She had no doubt that her employer was one of the more formidable trained individuals in this day and age, probably able to best the skills of the sharpest individual here. Yet it wasn't the time for idle thoughts and she continued in her quest to keep the creature busy and occupied, as to allow the strange ritual the Russian woman was performing to proceed. She did not know whether or not her ritual was godly, but it truthfully did not matter at the moment. So many trained skills did not draw from Maeve's faith yet she had no doubt that his hand was involved in each of their usages. Via the trained skill of Shuibhne, she managed to strike back the tendrils and she similarly struck them drawing on her skill of Deasmhumhnach with her staff.

Fortune must have been with her as her strikes kept the tendrils from ensnaring another innocent soul, as well as providing an opening for others to attack. Combat against the forces of darkness really was a team sport - there was no I in team after all. From what she could tell, the others were performing splendidly as well. There was a glorious white light forming on the center of the creature, reminding her of what the Russian man had exclaimed about before. And then, the strange woman with skin as pale as one of the Soulless struck it with her blade, seemingly ending the monstrosity. "Ah've never seen anythin' loike it meself, miss," Maeve answered Colette. If the creature was the body lying on the altar, then perhaps this was just some new sort of Soulless she had not yet encountered. "Maybe de creature wus 'is soul?"

The haze continued to cloud her vision, but the haze had started before they encountered this being in the Church so she had no idea if the two were related or not.

Virginia Crypt

Location: Gretna Green - Church
Skills: Nakai, Deduction

So many people working together in harmony to inflict pain on this poor creature, it truly was a symphony of violence and resiliency. Oh, to be a fly on the wall (or perhaps a maggot?)! Her grip on the sword was tight and she remembered seeing Millicent using swords before. She thought of all the stories about swordsmen she had been told and then took in a few logical considerations of the blade. All together, her information was assembled within seconds. The Irishwoman had provided an excellent opening, Veta's ritual had slammed into the creature and weakened it, and Ny backed away to allow an opening. Virginia dashed forward without faltering, raising the sword up and plunging it down into the core of the vile beast. "Poor monster," Virginia whispered.

She pulled the blade out of the creature, examining that instead of blood there was a pure white ichor of sorts dripping from the tip. Before her eyes, the substance turned black and then became the consistency of ash, as the creature began to resemble some sort of construct prepared out of charred wood. Virginia watched intently, staring at the dust on the altar and smelling the potent sulfur in the room. "Dust to dust," Virginia echoed, finishing the question that Millicent had posed. She smiled slightly at Millicent's compliment, yet her soul was aching for the waste of life that had just befallen the poor beast. "I do not believe this was sweet Ludwig... though I could be wrong," she said, raising her voice so the others could hear her. "Yet anything dear Ludwig knew, I imagine that knowledge was shared by the wondrous Ny," she added, gesturing towards the man frantically scribbling away.

Guin Stark

Location: The Palace Grounds - New York (Guin's Outfit)
Skills: Problem Solving, Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, Deduction, Mechanics, and Engineering Design
"Oh sure, let me just write down some equations on a chalkboard, throw around the word quantum, and I'll have a scientific fix done within a few hours," Guin snarked. People had this conception that monumental scientific discoveries could be produced on demand, usually within some arbitrary time limit that was never more than twenty four hours. Maybe her father could come up with a device that would reverse everything Wanda had done at the drop of the hat, but Guin knew that wasn't within her capabilities - at least not now. But hey, if she did manage to come up with something, that would almost guarantee she would win the Nobel Prize in Physics.

"Alright, the only things coming to mind would be finding one of the Infinity Stones and using it to change the world back forcibly - or we go and talk to the smartest guy on the planet and ask him, Reed Richards," Guin answered, this time without the biting malice of sarcasm. She wondered briefly if her father would be offended that she declared Reed Richards to be the smartest guy on the planet. He probably would be - his ego was one of the few things larger than his personal fortune. It wasn't too much of a plan, but the girls that approached them and Flynn had asked for a plan as well.

"Going to the resistance would be a bad idea," she argued. "One, they already tried to take on Wanda and Erik and they lost - badly. Two, if they had a way to change back the world, then I bet they would have done it already. And three, who do you think Erik is going to be pissed at when he comes to and order the execution of?" she pointed out. "Our best bet is either to go hide out at Stark Tower or see if we can track down Richards, he's probably at the Baxter Building."

Dominika Novikova and Runa Blake

Location: The Human Resistance HQ - New York
Skills: N/A
"Isn't that cultural appropriation, if they went as clowns to New Orleans?" Novikova whispered to her girlfriend, teasing her lightly. Both of them had died before in another timeline on a mission. But she didn't like to dwell on that - rather than think about the failures, it was better to focus on the here and the now. Even thinking too much about the missions they had succeeded on would just be an unneeded distraction and the only distraction Novikova wanted was Maria.

Her gaze was redirected over towards the sling ring portal, not really having much interest in Cass and Lance/Sparky's conversation about the power levels of Wanda Maximoff. There were some mutants whose powers defied quantification, who broke the scales each time a new one was established. They were designated as omega level and after all of this, Novikova didn't doubt that the Scarlet Witch qualified. The Sorcerer Supreme and those who practiced the Mystic Arts should have been able to stop her from doing something like this - cosmic threats and ones that endangered the multiverse were their responsibility - but for some reason, they had failed to do so. She had to imagine that only the wizards really had an idea as to how powerful she was. "Max, can you locate Doctor Stephen Strange?" Novikova called out. She knew from the mission reports that Strange had helped with the alternate Age of Ultron timeline. Maybe he could help here too.

Runa motioned for Lance to come with her, walking through the crowded place until she found a quiet little corner where they could talk and be alone. She didn't want to have this conversation in front of everyone. Before she went on over there though, she saw Klara through the sling ring portal and she smiled slightly, relieved to see that her favorite cousin was alright. Once the pair of them were alone though, she took a deep breath and then purposefully looked at the wall that way she wouldn't see Lance's reaction to what she was about to say.

"My real name is Runa Baldurdattir, Goddess of Lies. I have a compulsion to lie and each time I tell a lie and someone contradicts me, there's an urge for me to use my powers to turn that lie into reality. I could have done something like this easily to get my happy ending..." she confessed. "I'm no different than Wanda Maximoff. And if you hate her, then you hate me and I understand... I... I don't expect you to continue to feel things that were forced upon you by her magic... So... So I believe that it is for the best if we end our courtship right now. Before you get hurt. And before I do something to hurt you, since it's only a matter of time... Everything I touch rots, Lance. I don't want that to happen to you."

Casper Theriot

Location: the Hallway - Baton Rouge
Skills: Mediumship
Casper's eyes widened slightly as a familiar voice began to speak in his head. Instinctively, he tensed up and his hands curled into fists. His father used to do this - just break into his mind without permission and start messing around in there. He always hated it. Moving away from the rest of the group, his back collided with the wall and it felt like a jolt of electricity going up his spine. "Fucking hell, Max! Don't you know to ask for consent before probing someone's mind?!" Casper snapped reflexively. Closing his eyes, he took a breath for a moment. "Sorry, it's just... Anyways, of course I remember the both of you! I'm currently in some SHIELD base in Baton Rouge trying to steal an Infinity Stone. I know, I know it's crazy for even me. Tell Baby Boy I love him, okay?"

He missed Mary's seeming reluctance to actually go and look for the stone, but he supposed Rogue and Gambit were still around and he doubted they would give up so easily. His eyes darted over towards his brother and he held up a single finger, before realizing that since Max was speaking in his head, he would be able to hear both him and Jack fine if they spoke at the same time. "My boyfriend's disastrous friend is in my head," he whispered to Jack. "You remember Max, right? The walking calamity? The untrained magician whose magic goes nutso and killed those cops back when he went to go probe at Shaw?"

But when it came to the question of what to do with the Mind Stone, Casper tried to think of the most trustworthy person in the world to deal with that sort of thing. He started to whistle a familiar tune and he smiled slightly, having found the answer on what to do with it. "We give it to Captain America, Jackie! No one can get past him and his mighty shield!" he whispered eagerly.

"What if Captain America isn't Captain America here?" Ben pointed out. "How do you know you can trust him?"

"...What, you think someone like Cap can go bad? I doubt there's a single bad bone in his body, hell he probably couldn't say Hail HYDRA even if he tried to!"

Leda Storm

Location: Camp Half-Blood 2F
Skills: N/A

"Urgh, I'm blinded by assholes!" Leda complained, instinctively bringing her hands to her eyes. While her mother was the Goddess of Rainbows, that didn't mean Leda was immune to the effects of light flares to her eyes. That would have come in handy. Maybe there was some way to learn how to do that with her own rainbow powers? At any rate, the temporary blindness caused her to not see the arrow Zeke shot at her coming and she was knocked back, falling to the ground hard. For a moment, she briefly wondered whether or not this was what life was like for the new blind girl, Jade.

It took a little bit for her vision to clear and she got back up to her feet, just in time to see Scarlett knock Zeke down. She smirked slightly. "Ha, ha, ha," she taunted Zeke, speaking each time she took a step forward. The horn sounded soon enough and Leda knew there was no way that the Ares team had won. "So what were you saying about taking our flag and getting yours back, huh snail?" she taunted. Sure, she didn't always treat people like this but Zeke was an exception. After going on a quest with a person, you ended up either becoming a family with them or wanting to drive an axe through their skull. Leda certainly didn't feel the former about him.

John Watts

Location: Serval Industries - R&D Lab
Skills: Perception
"Anything his camera recorded was synced to the server and the majority seems to have been hastily deleted," Watts informed Evelyn bluntly. "However, I was able to recover something that would point to the motive..." His eyes darted around the room rapidly, checking to ensure that they were alone. He didn't know if they were being watched so he gave Evelyn a kiss on the cheek, hovering his lips by her ear as he whispered to her his thoughts. "Andrew discovered a device that would allow you to switch consciousnesses - to switch bodies and retain any abilities along the way... Gardner is planning something, something she was willing to ensure his silence over."

As he pulled away, something confusing then happened. Andrew, the cupcake eater, was sitting back in his chair enjoying a tasty snack. Picking up a wrench, Watts flung it at Andrew. If he just a hallucination, then the wrench should just go right on through him - and if he was really there? Well, he imagined Andrew might be annoyed at him but that hardly even registered to him.

When Watts threw the wrench, it slammed into Andrew, hitting him in the face. "Ow! What the hell was that for?" he asked, holding his free hand to his nose that appeared to be bleeding. However, to Evelyn, the wrench wouldn't hit anything, instead it would clatter to the ground after Watts threw it.

"... You should learn how to dodge," Watts told Andrew coldly. "And clearly, you aren't a ghost, Casper. So your idiotic rambling about not surviving an explosion has logical fallacies that even you could follow... Now, tell me the nature of what happened to you instantly and don't spare any details, no matter what. It may not seem important to you - in fact, I doubt you realize the gravity of this situation - but your life is in danger."

The Hub - San Fransisco: March 5th, 1984 - 10:20 A.M.

In the hustle and bustle of people coming and going, a few familiar faces may stand out. Walking on past the group, in the middle of a conversation, was none other than the legendary Howard Stark and Peggy Carter. Although it would be hard to overhear their conversation amidst all of the chatter, they would be able to catch the gist: Peggy was giving Howard some advice on how to handle his handful of a kid. Tony was beginning his teenage phase and the scientific genius had no idea how to deal with it. They would vanish into the crowd again within a few moments, not even noticing the group of time travelers themselves but why would they?

"Cat got your tongue?" Strange mused, noticing that Roman had hardly said a word since they arrived. It wasn't too shocking, they had just lost people, but loss was hardly a new thing for them anymore. Funerals and coffins, they were just a reality of life. People died. But maybe, just maybe they could change that fact - just this once - they could bring them back.

Raynor chuckled a bit. "Well that isn't a cat," he corrected Flynn. Cryptic as ever, he didn't offer an explanation beyond that. Cats couldn't live to be forty years old? Well, then Goose wasn't a cat - and given Goose's other qualities he was a bit surprised that Flynn hadn't figured that out yet. Household pets didn't just have tentacles inside of them like that. At least, they didn't here on Midgard as far as the Asgardian was concerned.

The kitten gave Niah's hand a cautionary sniff, before apparently determining that she was a nice person and he started to rub up against her hand, essentially demanding that she pet him. On the phone, there was a poignant pause before Dr. Pym started to answer. His voice was more youthful than when she had spoken to him at Pym Technologies back in 2020. "Goddamnit. I told Stark not to bring in an outside consultant..." Pym muttered. "Alright. I can meet you now in my lab - it's room 221B."

"Goose! We talked about this!" Nick Fury complained, looking like a young(?) man with both of his eyes. He came up to them at a sprint and shook his head slightly at the kitten. "Sorry, little guy must have slipped out of my office..." he apologized, bending down and picking up the kitten.

"Mrow?" Goose asked innocently, looking at Fury for a moment, before he started trying to get out of his grip again. Unfortunately for the kitten, Fury wasn't just about to let go of him any time soon. He didn't want to deal with losing Goose in this large crowd of people and he had no doubt someone else would want to adopt this precious little bag of joy.

"Oh, no worries," Susan said in response, not really too sure what else to say at that moment.

"I'm Agent Fury," he introduced, holding out a hand with a smile.

Stark Tower - New York: July 15th, 2021 - 10:00 P.M.

Outside...

Never before had Carol Danvers actually worked this hard - she couldn't remember the last time each breath tasted like blood rather than air. Her vision was spinning as she blasted away as much as she could at the endless tidal wave of drones. She wasn't exactly surprised at the hoard she and the Hulk were fighting - they had just kicked the beehive, of course the flying killing machines would be coming to end the threat to the collective. "Hey, Big Green... What do you think's waiting on the other side?" she asked him, her voice raspy and sounding like that of a chain smoker.

"Big Guy?!" Captain Marvel called out again, having not heard a response. A second later, one of the drones stabbed her in the back and she screamed, blue blood dripping from the wound. But it would take more than just that to kill Carol Danvers. Her limbs were trembling as she forcibly pulled out the blade and then punched a hole through the drone, sending its pieces down onto the ground where it joined its previously vanquished brethren.

"NO OTHER SIDE! ONLY HULK!"

There was a gigantic roar as the Hulk emerged, covered in broken pieces of drones. The female Avenger let out a slight sigh of relief. She didn't know if anything could kill the Hulk, but it seemed to be impossible. And as long as Ultron couldn't do that, then they would always at least have a chance of winning.

"Sun's getting real low, huh?" Her eyes flickered all around them and she knew that she at least couldn't keep this up forever. She was getting tired. It wouldn't be long until she was overwhelmed, but there was at least something she could to do buy them all some time... "I'll see you in a minute," Carol said, before she went supernova.

The Second Floor...

There was an intense, blinding light and suddenly, the glass outer walls of Stark Tower shattered, the shards flung inwards. Not too long afterwards, there was a gigantic roar of pain - the Hulk. Whatever had happened outside, at least Bruce Banner's alter ego had survived.

Goose sent his tentacles flying out, smashing 5 drones nearby. However, he let out a slight hiss, before it sounded like he was almost whimpering in way. He had gotten hit by several shards of glass, and his injuries didn't look too good from the glass at all. "Mrow?" he sort of muttered out, not really saying anything else.

"...Your cat needs medical attention," Wanda informed Cass, staring at her. The drones on this floor were gone, but it wouldn't be long before more came, especially with the glass shattered. Vision had gotten hit by a fair number of shards, the synthezoid sparking randomly as he flew up to the fourth floor to assist Tinley if she so required.

The Fourth Floor...

Just as on the second floor, the intense light - like a star had just exploded outside - would be blinding to look at. If anyone tried to, their vision would be clouded with black spots for at least an hour or more. Of course, that is hardly the least of Tinley's problems. The shards from the glass walls were violently thrown at her, but by some stroke of luck they missed her almost entirely, just leaving her with a few scratches. Unfortunately, the drones avoided the shards as well, so she still has to deal with them.

The Vision floated up to her a moment later. "Might I be of assistance?" he asked. There were numerous glass shards sticking out all over his body, as if he had used himself to shield someone from harm - but who? Of the four drones on the floor, only one of them managed to actually fire off a shot at Tinley, but it missed her by a lot.

The Eleventh Floor...

While Maria managed to channel her inner Hawkeye and make it up to the eleventh floor, she is surrounded by Ultron drones and the aftermath of the supernova outside not only just flung glass at her, it actually knocked Maria backwards. She would fall away from the landing at the very least, but one of her own arrows is knocked loose from her quiver and she lands on it, the arrow pushing through her back and coming out at her stomach.

Of the twelve drones up there with her, five of them managed to hit Maria. Her regenerative healing factor made her tougher than most, but these drones could adapt and they did so easily. Sending concentrated lasers at her brain, the five drones attacked as a singular unit and destroyed the vital organ beyond repair. She was dead.

Washington D.C.: September 9th, 2020 - 8:50 PM

Medical...

Emma smiled, chuckling slightly at Anastasia's description of Jinx and Requiem - though she could hardly argue with her assessment. "They are fine - I believe just embarrassed, which is fine for our purposes," she explained. Yes, she had been knocked out by those from the Mutant Underground too but Emma had wanted the entire situation to happen. She wanted the Mutant Underground riled up against Shaw, so that way they would come and eliminate him. Just handing them the incriminating information was not enough to get them to act - they had to believe that they had stolen it or been given it discretely. She doubted they would sign off on her and Reeva's dream of a new world order... the mutant homeland: Genosha.

"Tomorrow, you and the boys will need to collect a few mutants of interest for our purposes. The ideal target is to retrieve David Haller, though his sister should also do. They are being transferred to a new facility with higher security tomorrow by train... I do hope you enjoy a good train heist, darling. Of course, you will need to be careful. They are unstable - David in particular. You would most likely better know him as Legion, the son of Professor Xavier."

The Penthouse...

Sometimes, it pays to have a little bit of a temper and a poor attention span. Quite understandably, the penthouse of the Hellfire Club was in disarray but Jinx would notice something odd. One of the tiles of the floor was sticking up at an unnatural angle and if he were to pry it open more, he would find a small box with the initials K.S. engraved. It was a beautiful work of art, made from warm chestnut wood, though the insignia on it was horrifying: a swastika. Now, why would that have been here, hidden away beneath the floor?

As for Requiem, the janitorial staff and all will be up within a few minutes to begin working on repairs. Evidently they hadn't been informed by the kitchen staff about Jinx's temper or perhaps they would have insisted on waiting a few hours before beginning work. More importantly though, Requiem won't know where exactly Shaw would be but he would have a few ideas. The most likely option is that Shaw is out at dinner with some important figure, probably on his yacht in fact. He loves that boat like a child.

The Road...

For a moment, everything seemed to be in control. Veil was proud of them - they had managed to work together without her, able to escape and get into a vehicle. Max even gave a good suggestion on how to handle the police, showing his ability to use his powers beyond violence. That was how she wanted the Mutant Underground to be - an organization that relied on cleverness over brutality. And then, she heard the most horrific sound in the world. There was a sudden screech and a loud THUD as Max's ten foot long nail killed the driver of the cop car immediately behind them. The other cars swerved, the rubber of their tires burning but not all of them could stop in time. Two of the cars collided, one of them even flipping in the process and preventing the rest of the cops from pursuing them.

"...W-what have you done?" Veil whispered, her voice shaking slightly. She didn't even register Max vomiting on her legs, but even if she had, they had far bigger problems to deal with. Human-mutant tensions were approaching an all time high. This one mistake could be used to justify the slaughter of innocent mutants... to inspire more to join the Purifiers.

Of the surviving cops, one of them got on the radio and put out a simple transmission: "10-53. Code 30! I repeat, code 30! Officers down!" All the way back at the Mutant Underground, Waverley would be able to clearly hear it and the chilling response that followed.

"All available units, suspects are traveling in a black impala, license plate SL1963. You are authorized to use lethal force."

Havok still was firmly unconscious, but at the very least Veil managed to cloak the car. Provided that they didn't skid and leave marks on the ground, they would be able to get back to the Mutant Underground without being followed within the next ten or so minutes. For good measure, Veil even put a protective force field around them all, just in case the cops started shooting at nothingness and hoped to get lucky.

Outside...

Leighton would be able to have a moment to herself if she wished, yet Negasonic was plainly visible and if she focused for a moment, she would be able to hear her phone conversation as well. "Colossus' little sister, yeah, the dead one? She's alive. And she's here," Negasonic said, kicking a rock slightly with her foot as she paced back and forth. Whoever she was talking to on the other end of the line seemed to be a bit longwinded, as it was a while before Negasonic talked again. "Wait, Yukio, you're sure? Jesus... I'll let chrome dome know. And the pills...?" She nodded a bit, stopping in her tracks for a moment as her face paled. "Okay. Be safe, babe. I love you." She then ended the call, her shoulders dropping slightly.

The First Floor...

Vulcan started to giggle a bit, clearly suffering from some sort of serious head trauma. He didn't look like the giggling sort. "Who's Shaw? Pfft..." he shook his head slightly, only for the entire world to start to spin rapidly so he stopped. "That's like... That's like asking who Obama is!"

"Yeah, he means Sebastian Shaw - the CEO of Shaw Industries," Blink concurred. Sure, she lived down in the tunnels but they kept tabs on what happened in the world above them. She also had only become a Morlock within the last few months, previously working in the Mutant Underground in Atlanta. Before that, well... Blink didn't really like sharing that sort of information about her past with people. It was something she wanted to forget.

As Spark Plug's empathic abilities sank in, Vulcan's mood plummeted. The gleeful mutant soon was the perfect picture of despair, hardly able to hold up his head. "I don't see why you're bothering with all of this..." he mumbled, sounding pitiful and pathetic. "You're all just ants, trying to fight with a boot... Shaw's going to win regardless... I bet he's already taken care of those bitches in the Circle."

The injured mutants (largely kids) on this floor were healed, though there were still some on the second floor. For the most part, they were just afraid and wanted to know what was going to happen - were they going to stay here? Would they be attacked again? Why would someone have wanted to do that to them? They didn't even know them, so how could they hate them so much as to send someone after them? A few of the especially little ones had even started to cry.

"Jackie! It's like you have no faith in me!" Casper complained. He didn't take his eyes away from his brother really though, hoping to figure out a way to get those pills from him. He kept looking at him in his peripheral vision as he scooped out his phone and saw all of the missed texts and calls from Jinx. "Aww, I feel so loved..." he said, sending back an eloquent response to Jinx. It was the pizza emoji. Nothing more, nothing less.

"Really?" Ben asked, chuckling a little bit.

"What? I want to see how he'll respond," Casper confided in his friend.

Colossus grimaced slightly as Jack informed him that it looked like his baby sister was a drug addict. She still hadn't woken up just yet. "She is blood - family," Colossus informed the detective quietly. "I will help her, no matter what." There wasn't anything else to discuss about that really. Whatever his sister needed, Colossus would be there for her. He had been looking for her for so long that now that he had her back, the prospect of detoxing her seemed easy in comparison.

"Easy for you to say, princess," Sunshine muttered under her breath as Leighton chewed her out and then left the building. She knew that she wasn't an easy person to get along with. She just didn't care. Everyone important to her had been taken away and the person to show her kindness, to offer her a chance at a family again, had just been murdered in front of her eyes. Alone was what protected her, so if she drove people away, then maybe that was for the best. For now, all she needed was revenge on those who had taken everything away from her - the humans.

She didn't know what ultimately had become of James - and perhaps, that was for the best. She couldn't do anything about it, especially since she hardly understood what was going on beyond the collapse of perhaps every timeline in existence. Andromeda didn't even know what had become of her own timeline - had they managed to fix time? Or had the others die shortly after she had perished? Biting her lip slightly, Andromeda surveyed her surroundings. There wasn't really anything here to indicate where they had ended up. They were just on a worn out road, with a tree at both ends. "Well the road is good... We're at least somewhere where civilization once was," Andromeda murmured, mostly talking to herself.

Andromeda jumped slightly at the sudden crack of electricity, wondering for a moment if she had caused that only to realize it had been from the portal closing. Nothing felt innately dangerous here at least. "I'm fine," she said, answering Giouse's question. "Do you know where and when we are?" she then asked, figuring it was a natural follow up. Whatever had been happening back in Egypt seemed to have stopped at least - she didn't notice anyone else starting to fade away, but could something like that easily start up again here soon? They needed to make some sort of plan of action and quickly.

DTTS Fade Between:

Drawing on her experience with the strange and unusual, Nancy had tried to figure out which way to go, but she had no idea at all. The pull was changing rapidly, her inner compass spinning on its axis uncontrollably. There had been a world in front of her eyes and in a moment, as if the scene was shifting in a dream, she was somewhere else entirely - or perhaps she had been there all along and just now began to notice?

Glancing all around, she tried to make out any sort of details that she could. The scenery surrounding them reminded her a bit of a Crypt Wedding - all black and grey, covered in a thick and heavy fog. "Oh that's bloody wicked," Nancy exclaimed, her eyes wide as she spotted what looked like the Grim Reaper - a skeleton, standing without any aid to keep the bones together, dressed in a robe and holding a scythe. The torches burning at least confirmed that this place was not abandoned - someone had to have come and set those fires.

Not that she didn't love abandoned places, mind you - they were hauntingly beautiful and she adored to explore them at her leisure.

"Oh, call me Nancy love - and I'm not sure. Maybe New Jersey. I don't think I've been here before - which is quite rare. I've been almost everywhere..." Her eyes then flickered over to Mosi and Josephine. She recognized the pair of them and of the two, she preferred the company of the blonde immensely. "Oi, Josephine, are you alright?" Nancy called out.

The Small Wet Country Across the Sea: August 9th, 12,511 - 4:40 PM

Myrus' violet eyes widened in fear as he saw Byleirst snatch up Mona. He had heard a few stories about the Frost Giants and none of them were good. In those tales, Thor was usually the one going off and putting them down - he didn't know if Bruce would be strong enough to handle them. And if this was Ragnarok, then for this Frost Giant to have survived all of that... he had to have been one of the strongest ones. He had a nagging suspicion there was something important he was forgetting, but instead the prince started to look around, trying to find a rock but he just couldn't at the moment. It was like his brain had forgotten what a rock looked like.

Byleirst stared at Myth, dumbfounded. "How... The Host of Asgard... The House of Odin died!" he protested, looking at her as if asking for her to explain just exactly why she wasn't dead. The little woman in his hands, Mona, didn't even seem to be that startled by the fact that he had picked her up. And then, the little man had summoned fire! There was only one logical explanation as far as Byleirst was concerned... They were all Asgardians!

The Frost Giant set Mona down gingerly, as if afraid that if he set her down too roughly she would turn around and punch him, shattering his knees with a single blow.

The Long Walk - the Castle...

Apollodora chuckled slightly. "Oh yes, with my amazing innate Magykal abilities I'll just brew you a potion," she quipped sarcastically. Unlike her brother, she didn't have any Magyk. Her eyes never turned green. And while she knew her mother would never admit it, Rainbrook was her favorite for that reason. That was fine by her. The less she had to interact with her parents, the better. This mission into the past was an unfortunate need to prevent herself from being written out of existence.

For a moment, the time traveler looked confused as Amarantha mentioned the Eastern SnowPlains, but then she understood. Apollodora knew that nation by another name, one that inspired more fear and terror than its current one. The young woman was waiting inside the Long Walk, looking out at Amarantha in the courtyard as the servants confirmed that they hadn't found Mona. She could be alive then - or maybe her body just had not yet been located. "Come on, hurry up will ya?" Apollodora called out.

The Palace Crypt - the Castle...

While Valda's Magyk could not be used to set a living creature on fire, there are some torches lining the walls of the crypt that could be ignited with her powers. All Titan then would have to do would be to take the lit torch and set the fire to the head of the vampire, removing it from this plane of existence. Of course, they may wish to keep the vampire alive and question it, in order to learn more about why they attacked the Palace that evening.

"So hungry..." the vampire head moaned. Upon closer inspection, the trio would realize that the vampire was not a fully grown adult. No, this vampire appeared to be a small child, no older than thirteen.

"... I am sorry. Who was this person you lost?" Violet asked Fleur, hearing that she had lost someone dear because of Amarantha. She wasn't surprised. From what she had seen, the military leader was reckless when it came to the lives of others. Amarantha was a product of the corrupt Young Army and Arya had no doubt that the corruption in the Castle included her. With her death, they could usher in a new era of peace and prosperity. It was something she had been wanting to push her accomplice towards, as he had a connection to Amarantha that would easily be exploited.

Of course, she would have to kill Antonije Magnisky one day - he was a means to an end and she knew the darkness that lurked inside of his heart. But once the work was done, the Castle would not need them - and she too would plunge the dagger into her own heart, finally removing the last drop of malice from the land. Breaking the stillness, Violet nodded her head. "I will come see your Coven... And I will aid you, but my battle is here. My work is not yet done." She couldn't just drop everything and devote herself entirely to Fleur's cause, but she would join and when needed, she would show up.

Every other waking moment would be spent here in the Castle, spilling the blood of those who would go unpunished for their sins. She had to take care of those she had marked, before they could spread that monstrous disease to too many people in the Castle. Hopefully, the visit to Fleur's coven would not add too many to the ranks of the vampires.

He didn't really care that she had snapped at him - it was a hard truth to swallow. His eyes went over towards the door, wondering briefly what life would be like if Sylvi's family were to appear in moments and take her back to the Land of Long Nights. Antonije's grip on her tightened considerably. He didn't want her to be taken away from him, preferring to keep her all to himself. So many people in his life were gone, he didn't want Sylvi to be the next one to go. It was bad enough that his siblings had decided to go live on another planet with people who weren't even their family, rather than stay here with him. His parents were dead. He didn't even know if they had any living extended family or not.

Calm down, Silvija, he instructed, smoothing her hair. The hunger would be beginning to gnaw at her again, but it wasn't so bad that she couldn't think quite yet. I know you don't want to hurt anyone, but what do you think happens if these criminals live? They get away with horrible things, like rape and murder and robbery... They're going to hurt people. And if you don't stop them, then when the bad things happen, they happen because of you, he reasoned, continuing to stroke her hair to try to keep her calm. I can't make this choice for you Silvija, but you should know that right now... You have a lot of power. So there is some responsibility that comes with that too - you owe a debt...

You know, the neighbor across the hallway beats his wife and kids... he informed her, planting the idea into her head.

Halley Banner

Rowland was one of the nicer ExtraOrdinary Wizards, but he was not about to foolishly trust every person who came up to Wizard Tower screaming about danger - especially if Cuyler Eysteinsson accompanied them. He had thought of the man as a son at one point, someone suitable to court Arya (who was practically his daughter), but he had realized how ridiculous a notion that had been. If Cuyler had truly loved Arya, he would have gone to her funeral rather than drop off the face of the earth. "I am afraid, my dear, that I cannot allow you entrance to the tower - especially not the Pyramid Library," Rowland said frankly.

His expression soured more as he saw Cuyler shove by Arnora - really, what had he ever seen in him? "That's no way to treat a lady, boy," he scolded. "You know bloody well why I'm wearing these robes!" Rowland then snapped, his pupils contracting slightly.

"Look, we don't have time for this petty squabbling," Halley interjected. "It's clear you hate Cuyler, so he'll stay out here and if we could talk to you in private..." she suggested. One of the more annoying things about Asgard was that everyone held grudges. Freya still refused to even have dinner in the presence of Thor after what he tried to get her to do when his hammer was stolen a few thousand years ago. It made things irritating at best when some matter concerning Asgard and Vanaheim came up, requiring the two of them to discuss it.

Rowland didn't even dignify Halley's idea with a response. "She died, Cuyler! Arya died! You didn't show up - you didn't even care, you just left the Castle as if she was just nothing to you, just someone that could be thrown away and disposed like refuse! Where were you at her funeral?! WHERE WERE YOU WHEN SHE NEEDED YOU, BOY?!" Rowland ranted, his voice growing louder and louder in volume. An errant spark of Magyk came off of his fingers and zapped Cuyler - probably unintentional, but it was hard to tell at this point. "YOU NEVER CARED FOR HER - SHE WAS NOTHING TO YOU! YOU DIDN'T DESERVE HER!"

Rowland then struck Cuyler across the face, a hard slap that would cause Cuyler's face to turn red with the impression of Rowland's hand. The rings he wore on his hand didn't help either, leaving little cuts and indents in Cuyler's face.

Halley gave a sideways glance at Arnora, feeling a bit awkward. Things were escalating rather quickly here and it didn't seem like the ExtraOrdinary Wizard was going to calm down at any point soon - and boy, did he hate Cuyler... She could relate to Rowland some on that point at least.
