Sabine had faced many things before. She stood on a stage and demonstrated her abilities. She charged forward in combat situations, in practice, and everyday life. She stood up to her father and stepmother on more than one occasion.

So it defied all logic that she stood outside of the Kingston-Gray home, wringing her hands, afraid to set a foot over the threshold. She knew Danni would have her back, and Dorian to an extent. April would give her a wide berth, she was sure, which would not do her favors given April's closeness to the Kingston-Grays. She wouldn't be surprised if they had already heard horrible things about her.

And yet, she followed the others inside. Sabine's guard was up despite her trying to bring her shoulders down, put a smile on, and pretend she wasn't freaking out internally. "Thank you for inviting me into your lovely home," she had told the Kingston-Grays at the first opportunity. Sabine couldn't help herself, eyeing the fathers of two of her closest friends. The one dressed more provacatively, Casper, seemed to never stand near her. She didn't think much of it at first after following them around a bit before their meal, but as the day went on she noticed it more and more. She was tempted to test the theory and stride towards him, but didn't wnat to appear like she was going to strike him.

One of the other ones, James, was almost the opposite, keeping a close eye on her. She never seemed to leave his sight. He wasn't staring at her, per se, but he definitely made sure she was in his eyeline at all times.

The worst part: she had no one to talk about this with. Not yet, at least. Danni and Dorian were happy to be home and she didn't want to rain on their parades by expressing concern over how she was being treated, even mildly. April was not in a speaking mood with her, she was sure. Leah would maybe understand, but given recent events she wanted to have Leah relax a bit. Andy was a new friend and wouldn't understand the ins and outs just yet. Percy and Victoria were out also.

Despite being surrounded by people, she was very much alone.

At Capser's direction to get ready for the seance, Sabine stood up just as Casper fell. April voiced her concern and Sabine was about to run over before Ben highlighted that he was okay. Sabine stood off to the side, waiting for the others to lead. She didn't want to appear like she was going to scope things out on her own. She looked over to Dorian and Danni, hoping one of them would take pity on her and be near her.

The rumors suggest that his position at St Eustace's School is one of pity, in which he stays because no one wants to see one of the few "good monsters" fall to obscurity and die in a gutter somewhere. Many also whisper that a monstrous man such as him could only have such standing in society because of ties to the Dark Embers. After all, why else would anyone let him around children? ► Secrets When Silas was young and little more than a disfigured street urchin between one form and the next, he happened upon a robbery in a warehouse near where he slept. Three Dark Embers agent broke in to steal food and supplies, and then ran past him. A soldier stopped him and asked where the culprits had went, Silas lied and said they were running to a ship. They were never caught. -

E N L I G H T E N E D A B I L I T I E S E N L I G H T E N E D A B I L I T I E S ________________________________________________________________________________________ Manbeast: Silas is far removed from the physiology of the mundane. He resembles the dragons of old folktale, with skin made of jagged scales and tough hide far sturdier than that of the common man. This has made him not only a pariah among society, but brick on legs. Swords that try to bite through the sharp scales are blunted and cracked, bullets from the finest pistols of the day can barely get past Silas' skin. And most notable of all, he is strong. Silas has enough strength to lift a carriage over his head, pack an anvil around as if it's a paperweight, and more. These things make him someone no one wants to get into a scuffle with, but they also make him slow. Those without their own Enlightened abilities need only duck through alleys and around buildings for a fair chance at outrunning Silas. He sticks out like a sore thumb for multiple reasons, making him an easy target for more subtle Enlightened. B A C K S T O R Y B A C K S T O R Y ________________________________________________________________________________________ One only has to look at Silas to guess what he's faced. As a boy, he was set to become a blacksmith's apprentice in a town in England. By the time he turned 13, he began to show signs of a curious condition, in which his skin appeared bruised and discolored. His mother had originally wrote it off as soot or something accidental, but then it began to spread. When swinging a hammer to make nails, Silas would watch his skin flake off and leave something glossy underneath it. The blacksmith he worked under told him he needed to see a doctor, but they didn't know anything about it either. He never felt sick, even if his skin simply itched and ached somewhat on occasion. A month passed, and he started to grow protrusions out of his skin. They were sharp as daggers and tough as rock, and Silas' mother watched him slice firewood in half with is forearm alone. At that point, there was no more question that Silas was an Enlightened with a rather unfortunate ability. The changes kept coming and coming, and he couldn't stop them. Eventually, the skin on his arms became scales, and he began to grow spines out of his head. The people of his town weren't the most worldly, and it wasn't long until they went from thinking the boy had a gift to thinking he had a curse. They chased him out with fire and holy verses, and left him to wander the English countryside and the fringes of the urban world until the day he found his way to St. Eustace's School for the Enlightened. They took him in, and life was better for it. In time, his body became more dragon than man, and Silas had all but forgone the notion of fitting in. When his time as a student there was done, he elected to stay and assist in the school's wellbeing. Today, Silas is often one of those that the school sends out when they need someone to speak with prospective students from a distance. Timeline

1462: The first Enlightened start showing their abilities. No one knows where or why these abilities originated, but it causes fear and uncertainty worldwide. Enlightened, for the most part, are feared and attacked outright. Many go into hiding.

1463: Many countries enact laws forbidding the use of Enlightened abilities. Punishments range from indentured servitude to death. Some countries begin studying Enlightened and call for subjects willing to be studied. Many of these subjects do not survive.

1480: The Enlightened War emerges throughout Europe. Many Enlightened and their allies take up arms against their overseers and end up turning the tide. This causes many ruling countries to change laws surrounding Enlightened and allow them into society, provided they are registered. This is also when the term Enlightened is coined.

1558; Raphael St. Eustace established a School for the Enlightened in Great Britain with the Queen's approval. At first, the school accepts only men. Many young men travel from all over the world to attend.

1562: An Enlightened attempt on the Queen's life causes chaos to erupt worldwide with many calling for Enlightened to be locked up further or killed. The Queen makes a passionate speech calling for peace and not blaming the Enlightened for the struggles they have endured.

1574: St. Eustace's School For The Enlightened starts accepting women into its halls. This divides the school into men and women's sections. Women appear to be more monitored in the school, leading many of the women to feel unsafe.

1580: The Queen demonstrates Enlightened abilities. This causes some uproar amongst the citizens and concerns for the country's future, while others support the Queen.

1598: More schools pop up with St. Eustace's help, the first being set up in France. Eventually, a total of 10 schools are established throughout Europe and one in Japan.

1603: The Enlightened Queen passes away, leaving the throne to her cousin. Many speculate he is also Enlightened.

1641: Countries begin establishing Enlightened studies, hoping to find ways to manage Enlightened abilities and use them for war efforts. Most projects fail. Notably a German scientist is able to synthesize Enlightened blood into an elixir he claims will give average human Enlightened abilities. The elixir works briefly but leads many to die painfully.

1666: A drug from the elixir appears and grows popular. The drug is called "empth" and gives a quick high with a random Enlightened ability. It only lasts for a few hours and is highly addictive. The drug sweeps throughout Europe, Asia, and Africa. Many government officials begin outlawing the drug.

1700: The Enlightened use their power to start influencing world politics. Many sects are formed, attacking randomly throughout the world in an effort to see increased change in power for the Enlightened. These people are called "Dark Embers". They are classified as "highly dangerous" and are to be killed on sight. Their insignia is a raven with one purple eye and one gold eye and an amethyst in its claws.

1770: Lady Rosemarie's Haven For Wayward Girls is established and starts small. They eventually work their way up in numbers.

1806: Lord Ingram Poe takes over as Headmaster of St. Eustace's School For the Enlightened. This is after his father passes away and gives him the title. Lord Maleficar's Traveling Circus appears in Romania for the first time and is wildly popular.

1811: Our Game Begins.

Speculation abounds that she is at the haven purely because she is "bored" or wants to see "how the other half lives". There are rumors that Prudence has family still alive, namely an older sister who is among the aristocracy and that is part of why Prudence hates the elite so much. ► Secrets Prudence keeps a necklace from one of her first marks. The necklace is gold and worth a lot, but Prudence was so scared of being caught she never sold it. The lady she stole from is someone of great importance and Prudence believes if she is ever caught it would be her death. The necklace is always hidden amongst her belongings. -

E N L I G H T E N E D A B I L I T I E S E N L I G H T E N E D A B I L I T I E S ________________________________________________________________________________________ Tangible Illusionary Invisibility: Utilizing illusions, Prudence can transform herself and appear invisible to the naked eye. This allows her to walk or run around without being seen. Though she cannot be observed, there is a chance Prudence can still be heard and "felt", especially if someone can detect others, especially Enlightened. Prudence must maintain effort in producing the illusion, and any disruption can break it, such as being hit Tangible Illusionary Projectiles: Prudence can produce tangible illusions in the form of projectiles which can be thrown or used as weapons, if need be. Much like her invisibility, she must make an effort to use these. Continued use of this ability will drain Prudence's energy and make illusions less tangible as her energy dips B A C K S T O R Y B A C K S T O R Y ________________________________________________________________________________________ Prudence was raised in a house of love. Though they had very little to speak of, they were happy. Father was a blacksmith, and mother baked goods she sold when able. Her siblings were plentiful, and it was never boring. No one saw the fire coming. Prudence and one of her younger siblings survived, but the rest of her family perished. They were left to fend for themselves on the streets. Prudence stole what she could and found she had a knack for it, though she always longed to be free from wondering where her next meal would come from. Her younger brother died shortly after from disease leaving Prudence on her own. It was during this time she awoke in her Enlightened abilities, and she discovered she was able to remain unseen, which allowed her greater access to theft. One mark she attempted was Lady Rosemarie, who, instead of calling for the authorities to whisk her away, offered her a place amongst others similar to her. Prudence was hesitant and ran away as often as she could, but Lady Rosemarie found her and brought her back. Eventually, Prudene wisened up and realized she had a home and a family. Lady Rosemarie knew of her past after much talk, and she investigated more, discovering that a wealthy family was the cause of the fire. The motive was unknown, but that mattered little to Prudence, who decided to get revenge on the wealthy, not just for her but for the other young men and women like her who were forced into their lot in life. Prudence worked hard in the Haven, gaining experience and doing jobs for Lady Rosemarie. A lot of the young girls looked up to her, though no one knew her true plot. He is able to sense Enlightened from a great distance, though the farther he senses it the more mental energy is drained. Ingram is able to identify an Enlighteed person before their abilities manifest. Ingram is unable to sense which Enlightened ability a person has. The use of his ability can drain the energy from him to the point of illness and passing out. B A C K S T O R Y B A C K S T O R Y ________________________________________________________________________________________ The eldest son of the Poe family, Ingram had a difficult first period of life, falling ill soon after childbirth. It was expected that he would not live long, but through some divine being or sheer persistence, Ingram persevered and grew healthier. A chunk of his childhood was catching up to what he missed, through education and physical activity. A scrawny kid who got picked on, Ingram eventually grew strong in body and mind and achieved more than his classmates. Early on Ingram discovered his Enlightened abilities when he noticed his father's innate Enlightenment. Ingram knew his father ran a school so when Ingram showed an interest, his father was honest with him. Exploring how Enlightenment works and his expectancy in managing and using his abilities, Ingram trained even harder to be worthy of the title for the school. However, Ingram's younger brother, Percival, also had designs on running the school. The two often fought, both physically and mentally, to the point that the family was nearly split in two. Ingram took a lot of what his brother thought about him to heart, which led him down a dark path. One that Ingram tried his best to hide. Despite all of the struggles, when Ingram's father passed the school was left with him to run. Ingram took the role with gusto, aiming to help other Enlightened find their way in life. Rumblings of resistance and trouble continues to plague Ingram's mind, but above all he works to make the school the best it can be.
