That seems like a cool idea and seems like fun for our charas to discover whenever. Hope it gets approved.

Although not entirely to plan, they still ended up with the scroll. "Whew. Nicely done everyone!" Erika had prepared further praise for their efforts before entering the gauntlet of trench-crawling and whirlwind-evading, but unfortunately the wording inside the scroll left a lot to be desired. "The Trail Master is Amazing." Erika said the sentence out loud, sounding disappointed, expecting a clue or detail about an additional reward. "Well.. at least we got it."

Fast-forwarding to when they were all committed with the trench idea, Erika didn't really anticipate those three far Pidgeotto to leave their perch to get opportune positions for a whirlwind. Erika didn't know if they could count on them being safe enough to carry on with the original plan. It was true, laying down like this in the trench would probably prevent them from just sliding off the edge of the trail but would the force of the wind knock them into each and then slip out? Erika didn't know but she wasn't just going to let that Pidgeotto try without some resistance.

With a quick maneuver, she released Sno from her Pokeball and pulled her in a close hug as there wasn't a lot of room in this trench. Sno wasn't exactly necessary for this next part of Erika's impromptu plan but she might help. Speaking of plan, it was nice that Erika had spent a lot of time training with her mother. She was taught a lot of things and at this particular point remembered Zubats could cause a really annoying condition. "Um. Joshua quick! Have Zubat use supersonic on the Pidgeotto! Sno, use double team and have your copies run around everywhere. Cause mass confusion!"

Was this the best plan? Probably not. There was no guarantee any of this would work but it might give them enough time for Gibs to finish the first stretch of trench.
Hoping that this game isn't dead before it even starts.

Shoot! Got sidetracked there with midterms and such. Ended up forgetting for a moment... thank goodness for subscriptions!

Oh yea.. forgot about that Keen Eye...

And great. The trench was about the height of my strategy for this challenge. If that Pidgeotto whirlwinds, I think the fact that we are all laying down might spare us from anything particularly bad like flying out of the trench... Right?

"Good call, Ewan. Psyduck could retrieve the scroll once it falls. Alright. Wait for my signal.." Erika confirmed the plan as she waited for Gibs dig into position. That position was around the second Pidgeotto who was blowing a whirlwind towards the scroll and there, Erika would try to enact her plan. "Gibs! Sand-Attack and throw sand up into the whirlwind!" The idea was that while Gibs probably couldn't successfully hit the Pidgeotto guarding the scroll from where he was it, his accuracy reducing attack could be carried by the strong whirlwind, causing a small sort of dust storm to hopefully blind the guardian Pidgeotto. Intentionally, too, Erika realized that Zubat's lack of eyes and guidance by sonar would really play into this plan.

Gibs obliged Erika's command, and threw dirt up from the path into the whirlwind, peppering the scroll area. "Get the scroll, quick!"
Kyoka Haizenberuku

Almost unsurprisingly, Kyoka's ninjutsu had left little impression on the Shark as her spray was casually caught and.. absorbed? There wasn't a splash and scatter so Kyoka could only assume that occured, whether absorbed to empower or simply negation would take further study. More importantly than the mad chemist's passive observations, the Shark decided to divert his attention in a rather obvious manner to her.

Of course, Kyoka would move to dodge, even if it was a ploy, as being a standing target in the worst case scenario would not be beneficial. However, there was the a question of efficiency as Kyoka could just jump away with minimal impact but with what little time she had, her attention turned to Rumia who had suffered a blow earlier. She had expected her cousin to have survived but there was a suppressed concern for her opposite, after all, Rumia was the only relationship Kyoka was invested in throughout her short miserable life.

Indeed, Kyoka's expectations, and to the chemist's relief, were confirmed by the sight of Rumia taking the field again in a charge with one of her attacks priming. Despite the brief look, Kyoka knew which one and anything she could do to lend assistance to her monstrous cousin would only help. Therefore, Kyoka did not plan to jump out of the way as her hands quickly went through the motions of new hand seal, Kurāken Shokushu, the Kraken's Tentacles. With the hand seal completed, she flicked a chakra filled hand backwards to launch a black powder that ignited the moment it hit the ground. This powder burned and out of the powder rose a viscous tendril that shot towards Kyoka and wrapped her up, sinking into molten asphalt-like substance slightly before being flung her away. Heat from the molten tar, even in that brief exposure, began to warm Kyoka up considerably and her layered clothing, she'd likely receive some burns being that close to the epicenter.

"Wweeee!" Kyoka hollered as her small frame was sent away. Kyoka had two things in mind, first the Kraken's Tentacle remained behind, now coiling around the area in a chaotic mess aimed at getting the Shark to reemerge right into a portion of this ensnaring hot goo and hopefully provide her cousin a clean shot. The second purpose was Kyoka's trajectory wasn't random but aimed at her approaching cousin and as the two came close to passing, Kyoka gave a sharp whistle and tossed a small ceramic case out in front of Rumia, aiming to lead her so her cousin wouldn't have to slow. Inside the case was pure sodium powder, which being an alkali metal, would react explosively when touching water. It was a working theory that Kyoka predicted the Shark, especially in this more primal state right now, to have quite the affinity for water so much so that it was likely the Shark's clothes and even skin were damp with water. If Kyoka's theory held true, then the sodium should be effective as it wasn't a chakra based attack. Rumia ultimately had two options of dispersal, throw the whole container to likely cause a more dramatic explosion or to open the container and fling the powder to causing smaller explosions and a burning effect. Either was fine, but Kyoka predicted her more simpleton cousin would be more inclined for the dramatic.

Getting a little buddy-buddy in here. Remember, in a Fiasco, everyone has their own agenda, and doesn't care for the long-term consequences. I was imagining that Mae's character is a juvenile delinquent who has one friend in this new town, which is Cao's character. My character feigns fatherly interest in Mae's character merely in order to use her for his magic ritual. And there's no more artifact necessarily. Anyways, I'll take Carnival 6: The fortune teller.

So... My character wants to hold a great Halloween Dance and not die.
So, from the sound of it, @Jove hires @Mae an I to steal the artifact. A spell book makes most sense. For my revenge on @Pirouette, maybe the witch was both of our descendants. My character chose her to become the vessel for the witch to return. Is this close?

Hmm... Why would the Step-Father hire his Step-Daughter to steal an artifact?

Agreed, Spellbook makes the most sense.

So would be related? Hm... What if the story of the witch is just an urban legend that turns out true? In that case, your character can still try to get his revenge through those same means? At the very least, have my character caught with a stolen artifact.

@Cao the Exiled I'm really liking the sound of this. Perhaps @Pirouette may not know she's a descendant?

I had intended on my character not knowing she's a descendant.
@Mae

Sure.
