4 months into this hole 'being a responsible adult thing' and I've come to a conclusion: It sucks and I want to go back to the days where I didn't have to plan out my game time.

"Riiiiight. . ." Laz shook his head as he placed his hands on his hips, trying to think of a way to make sure that this princess didn't end up crashing against something almost as stubborn as she was. Before he could continue, however, the other resident blonde mage in their crew decided to push her way through the two of them. Raising an eyebrow at the small summoner as she passed, his attention was unfortunately pulled back to Adelynn as she continued to struggle with the glider harness.

"Sure, I'll get on that as soon as you decide to listen to someone when they're trying to help you out." A sigh escaped him as he massaged the bridge of his nose, starting to wonder if letting the girl fall to her death would really be that bad an idea. She definitely seemed gung-ho about it.

His thoughts were interrupted, however, by the sudden upsurge of magic coming from the direction of the little blonde mage that had passed by them, having decided to put on a rather elaborate show for them all as she called forth another one of her critters. While some of the others on in the room looked on with some amount of awe, Laz couldn't help but find it feeling more than a little . . . much. That and it took way too long for his tastes, especially when the result was . . . was just. . .

"Is that it? All that effort and magic. . . for a little cloud?" Laz couldn't help but feel as if Amara's magic was just a tad wasteful but before he could say anything else about it, the little cloud flew by him and Adelynn. With it came a gust of wind, and before anyone could do anything, the elemental had blown up Adelynn's skirt. For most in the hanger area, what followed after was a blinding flash of light as the princess tried to keep the scandalous sight from the brigands and layabouts that still hung around in the room. However, as the light died down, Laz himself turned away from Adelynn, hands over his eyes as he acted like he'd been blinded like the rest, cursing and tossing about like many others in the room. Unlike the others, however, his the young mage's face had turned a rather bright red.

His magic had protected him from Adelynn's flash, so he had seen everything. He also knew that if Adelynn knew, he knew that Adelynn would stop at nothing to gouge out his eye right out of his head. A thought that was reinforced as he 'recovered'to see her blast at the elemental with a bolt of light, taking a small gulp as he tried to regain his composure.

"A-Anyway. . ., now that your little show is over with Amara, could you please get that fart cloud under control? We're trying to runa stealth mission here, so if you can't gurantee that things behavior, don't fuckin bring it, kay? I'd rather you called on your pretty boi instead, at least he can follow instructions." Laz cleared his throat again, casting a few glances Adelynn's way but refusing to hold any kind of sustained eye contact as he spoke to her. "And, uh. . . Adelynn. . . if you don't want to, ya know, get involved when things get heated, just stay in the back, ya hear? And let someone help you into your harness already!"

With his piece said, Laz was quick to start walking away to seemingly inspect a row of gliders and weapons, running a hand over his face as he tried to get his mind off what he saw and on the mission at hand.

Calm down Laz. It was just some underwear, you've seen it a bunch of times. . . well, not girl underwear but, ya know, no big deal, right? No big deal. . . . no big deal at all. . . ssssssssssshit. Laz could only let out a groan as his face took on another shade of red, his imagination getting away from him more than he liked to admit. I'm so glad that no one on this damn ship can read minds, or I'd be dead a thousand times over.

"Are you going to let me help you, or are you fine with becoming a splatter on the jungle floor?" Laz's voice piped up behind Adelyn, his own glider already harnessed as he slipped a couple of knives into their sheaths along his belt. A couple of the others pointed their way and laughed, as his attempts to go comfort her had not gone unnoticed by others of the crew. However, when one of Laz's knives suddenly found itself embedded a inch away from the face of one of the men, they were quick to scatter while Laz made the trek over to retrieve his weapon.

"I can watch my back just fine, so the rest of you worry about getting ready. Big mission today, and it'd be a shame if one of ya fuckwits mucked it up because you were too busy makin' fun to check yer equipment." Once more, Laz spoke with a rather strange coldness to his voice, his smile towards the teasing crewmates not really reflecting the look in his eyes as he dared any of them to say something else, yanking the knife out of the wood with a flourish. "Just because Muscles can kick my ass like it's nothing doesn't mean I have to take shit from the rest of ya. Got it?"

The other members of the team walked off with little more than grumbles and rude gestures in Laz's direction, but that was enough for the boy as he turned his attention back to Adelyn, knife returned to its sheath and eyes a bit warmer than before, but not very.

"So, humility or death, made yer choice yet?"

Korrey Brooks

Korrey blinked as the nurse suddenly pulled a bell out a rang it, followed by a bunch of rapid-fire gestures that he could only assume was some kind of sign language. Given that she could hear him, she wasn't deaf so she must have trouble talking. Probably has something to do with those burns. His thoughts were soon interrupted when Gil spoke up to translate, causing Korrey to give him a quick nod of thanks in return before turning back to the burned nurse.

"Get some medicine, huh? Sounds more than doable tho. . . either of you wouldn't happen to have some supplies I could take with me on the journey? It's not necessary at all, but I doubt I'll be able to make it back here before dark given the time, and from what I hear, traveling the roads during the night isn't exactly a smart plan. Not asking for much, just something like a bedroll, maybe something sturdy and metal in case I get jumped by anything nasty. This stick I got with me will do in a pinch but I'd feel a lot better if I had something that was actually meant for wacking things, ya feel?" As he spoke, the tall youth walked over to a less cluttered area of the building to start doing a gamut of warm-up exercises and stretches, cracking several bones all over his body as he ready himself for a run, almost like he was in track and field again. "That being said, I totally understand if you don't got anything to spare, given how you all seem to have your hands full with these poor bastards. Whatever the case, I'll try to come back as soon as I can and with the medicine as well if possible."

Finished with his stretches and warm-up Korrey turned to Gil with a big grin, smacking a fist to his chest to emphasize his point. Holding the pose for a second or two, his face suddenly grew thoughtful as he let his hands fall to his sides. "Now that I think about it, anything else I should be aware of about the journey or this guy I'm supposed to find?"

Korrey Brooks

"My hair, huh? gotta say, that's a bit of a first. Most people tend to notice my height before the hair." Korrey chuckled as the stranger introduced himself as Jacob while they hefted the doped up patient behind what Korrey could only assume was some sort of nurse or doctor considering how she acted. Korrey had met quite a few medical types, and every single one of them had been just like this chick: bossy and demanding with little care for answering questions when they were busy doing something. Really, being ignored like this was one of the few things that really dug under his skin, but given that he had already decided to help her out, he couldn't really start chewing the woman out over her lack of manners. With not else to do, the giant man let out a sigh as he adjust his grip on the passed out crazy in his arms before turning to offer Jacob a free hand. "Pleased to meet ya, man. Name's Korrey."

When they finally arrived in the building the woman had led them too, Korrey gagged at the smell that filled the room, a mixture of antiseptic and sickness that made his gut churn. Looking around, he couldn't help but wonder what was causing all this. . . and why he hadn't known about it till now? While this place was big, any illness that could put down dozens of people like this was something that would usually get any rumor mill churning. then again, it wasn't like he had become well entrenched in said rumor mill to begin with . . . especially after he beat the tar out of those ruffians. People seemed to give him a wide berth after that particular incident. As they put the sick man down to be more securely restrained to his bed, Korrey left the questioning of the tired looking male doctor to jJacob, deciding to instead see if he could make himself useful in some respect.

As such, he walked up to the woman with burn scars, clearing his throat slightly to alert her to his presence before hand, so he didn't spook her.

"Excuse me ma'am, but is there anything I can do to help ya out? Clean out washtubs, change sheets, that kind of thing?"

"I can't thank you enough for helping out with this errand, young man. Hehe, I almost forgot how much easier errands were with a strapping young man around."

"Ah, don't mention it ma'am." Korrey grinned from behind a tall stack of flour sacks destined for the bakers, sticking his head out to the side every now and then to make sure he wasn't about to run into someone on the way. Walking right next to him was a short woman of some years, with the tan skin and rough hands of a farmer, tho whether she was from around the city or coming from someplace far off, he couldn't say, given his lack of familiarity with the area. "Not like I could leave you to haul all of this yourself with that broken cart of yours."

"Oh, you're much too kind deary. If only my lazy husband was even half as helpful, even a quarter as helpful as you. But oh no, he'd rather spend any time he's not in the fields on his lazy bum, whittling away at another of those projects of his. I tell ya, I'm about to whittle away his head if he doesn't get some more gumption to help out with these errands. And another thing-" As the woman continued her sudden and seemingly random outburst of marital anger, Korrey could only offer a small, somewhat uneasy smile. He didn't know who this husband of her's was, but he could imagine why the man wasn't exactly to eager to assist his spouse if she spouted into these kinds of tirades often. Still, he nodded along with the woman's words the rest of the way to the Baker's shop, offering a bit of advice here and there when he could.

After saying his good-bye to the woman, who was now deeply engaged in a match of ferocious haggling with the baker on the definition of a 'fair price', Korrey was resting beneath the shade of a tree growing near the road, wiping the sweat from his brow as he cursed the noontime heat. It was strange, really, ow different yet familiar this world was from his own. Sure it looked like something straight out of one of his friend's fantasy games with this old rustic architecture and weird looking outfits, but people still had relatively normal issues. Cat's still got stuck in trees, old ladies still need help to cross the street, and a few hoodlums needed to be shown that messing around with the local shop was just a bad move in general. At the end of the day, people were still just people, he guessed.

"Gotta say tho, still would like to know what that pretty boy-lookin' fuck of a clerk thought he was doing bringing me back to life for this place. Not really doing much here, am I?" Korrey muttered under his breath, fiddling with the hem of his leeve as he watched people walk by from the shade. It was true that, after spending a good 30 minutes trying to bust down a surprisingly solid door in the middle of town, Korrey had just lazed about for the most part. The innkeeper was a treasure of a woman to let him stay free of charge like she did and apparently several others that were in a similar position as well, tho he'd yet to meet any of them. Of course, Korrey had never been one to simply accept hospitality, so he'd practically forced the innkeeper to let him help around the Inn, whether it be cleaning, inventory, lifting heavy objects, whatever she needed done. it wasn't like he had anything better to do.

However, while the innkeeper was as sweet as could be to him, he found the other residents to be . . . less so, to say the least. It wasn't anything he wasn't used to, with shopkeeps keeping an eye on him as he looked around their stores while on errands for the Innkeeper, most people avoiding looking in his direction or responding to his greetings as he walked the streets, and so on and so forth. Of course, it likely didn't help that he'd taken to weary his ordinary clothes over the ones he'd found covering them after talking with that damned clerk, wearing the main robe something closer to a jacket than it's intended function and packing the rest of the outfit away in his little area in the inn. The one other thing he did keep on him was the staff he'd found on his person, and while he was unsure what use it was supposed to have in the long run, he had found it made for quite the good beat stick when dealing with the few hoodlums he'd managed to find in this place.

Uggh. . . that little incident probably didn't help improve my rep with the people around here tho. . . Fuckin' hell.

Stepping out of the shadow of his tree witha yawn and a sigh, Korrey stretched his body up towards the sky, about to make his way back to the inn so he could help with oranging the pantry like he'd promised when he heard a commotion nearby. Turning to look, his eyes narrowed at first as he saw a small woman try to hold back a man close to his own size as he soldiered on ignorant of her pleas. An ignorance that was matched by all of the people busying past the scene as if it wasn't even happening. It was a scene of utter apathy that he had often seen, and sometimes even taken advantage of, a quite few times in his life.

People are still just that. . . He repeated in his mind as he closed in on the two, getting ready to hold the man down to the ground if he had to. However, he found himself somewhat beaten to the punch as another good Samaritan came up to help the woman in need. However, as they struggled to form some kind of connection the checked out individual, Korrey quickly saw them raise up their hand, the intent behind the action more than clear. Having been already making his way over, Korrey burst into a sprint, nearly skidding to a halt as he reached out and grabbed the man's hand by the wrist, his grip tight with one hand while the other pushed against the other man.

"Hold on there before you possibly end up making things worse, okay? Not sure that hitting a crazy person in the head is going to lead to the best result, ya feel me?" As Korrey spoke, he kept his attention on the rabid man, reaching deep inside himself for a feeling he'd quickly been growing accustomed to these past few days. A soft warmth bubbled up from his core and through his arm, words spilling out unbidden from his mouth in a language unlike anything he'd ever heard, yet he spoke it like a native, with speed and urgency. A soft golden-white light formed around his hands, seeking to flow into the wounded man and heal his wounds. Korrey was hoping that it'd be enough to get him to come to his senses as well, but even if it wasn't, he was sure he could deal with it if he had too. The guy was crazy, which made him unpredictable, but he was also out of it and pretty banged up. It'd be easy to take advantage of the hurt limb to help bring him to the ground, but for once, Korrey was hoping it wouldn't come to a fight. Well, he was mostly hoping that it wouldn't.
