Richard could feel the eyes burning on him as he walked through the streets, the gravitational shield still keeping the members of this worlds government safe. The same people who had selected who would be saved, and ensured that if they could not be safe then nobody was going to be.

Danger Richard Rider, you must pay attention at this time.

There was a boom up overhead, and a crash as something fell from the sky into the ground before Richard. He held up his hands to get everyone to stop.

"What in the world?"

No Richard Rider, not off this world.

Out of the crater crawled a massive creature, he had seen his fair share of monsters and beasts throughout the years, from abominations of science to aliens and even one or two magical beings but something about this one seemed wrong. It had froth around its mouth, and a rage behind the eyes that he found unsettling.

"Unidentified Alien-" Richards voice boomed through various different translations all at once. He wasn't entirely sure of the science behind it but he didn't have time to stop and question it everytime he was speaking to some new alien. Especially one that looked distinctly mad. "-I am Nova Centurion 11249-44396. I am tasked with saving as many people of this world as possible. Step aside immediately."

The alien roared at him and charged.

"Shields!"

His entire body glowed as he was struck by a single fist. He was sent flying through the delegates, and there was the distinct possibility that he collided with at least one of them. Climbing out of the building that he ended up in he shook his head. "Holy hannah, how hard did he hit us?"

Still determining, however I would advise you do not allow him to hit us again that hard.

"Gee thanks, I'll work on that."

It's 1968, and that pretty much sums up the average soldier's opinions on the Vietnam War. It's a fucking mess if you ask anyone who is even paying attention and there seems to be no end in sight. While President Johnson digs his heels in with an unprecedented bombing campaign with the ever optimistic goal of turning North Vietnam into the world's biggest parking lot, the CIA opts for a more surgical approach. Green Beret Captain Franklin Clay heads up a new unit of less than desirable soldiers known as The Losers. Their targets are high-ranking VC members, as well as VC sympathizers and collaborators operating in South Vietnam. With intel given to them by their Agency handler, Max, they carry out a covert war designed to draw bring South Vietnam to the negotiating table and to get President Johnson four more years in the White House. But as Clay and his team wade deeper into the murky waters of Vietnam, they discover their work is in service of something much sinister than even the propagation of the US industrial death complex. Ooo I heard it through the grapevine. And I'm just about to lose my mind" When a ARVN general has his niece kidnapped by a suspected VC gang, The Losers traverse the seedy and dangerous Saigon underworld to make sure she is found before it's too late. Reach Out of The Darkness "I think it's so groovy now that people are finally getting together. I think it's wonderful and how that people are finally getting together." The Losers are called on to watchdog a prisoner of war exchange at the Vietnamese DMZ. The swap carries with it serious cold war implications. Unbeknownst to Clay and the others, Roque has very different orders regarding the safe transfer. Going Up The Country "I'm going up the country baby, don't you wanna go? I'm going to some place where I've never been before." The Losers are dispatched on an assassination mission towards the Laotian border. Their target: a high ranking NVA officer the CIA believes is running a heroin pipeline from Laos to South Vietnam. As the group travel northward, they begin to discover their mission is not all it seems to be, and start to question just who the real enemy is.

C H A R A C T E R C O N C E P T C H A R A C T E R C O N C E P T ________________________________________________________________________________________ Thousands of years ago, the Council of Wizards protected the developing human societies from all manner of threats. Over the course of centuries, those battles took their toll on the Council, until Shazam was the last. It was only then that the man recalled the life he’d left behind, the family that he’d forgotten, and went in search of the tribe that he’d turned his back to many generations before. He discovered his people massacred, a single boy pulled from the fire to survive his family line, placed in shackles and cast into the turquoise mines of Ancient Egypt. When the spark of rebellion was ignited by the boy’s brash nature – courage or foolishness - he was to be executed, a child sacrifice to serve as a slave to the god Toth. The Wizard saved the boy from death, keeping their relation concealed as he allowed his powers to flow through the youth. Shazam’s purpose was to mold the boy into a proper champion who could protect humanity after him. That was 5,000 years ago. Teth-Adam is still learning, and it’s been a rough road to get here. Shazam gave the boy the power to overcome his demons. Instead, the child conquered his enemies. Leading a revolt, the city-state of Kahndaq in the ancient world was founded upon a turquoise mine as the slaves cast off their shackles and drove out their Egyptian masters. And, for a time, there existed a place of prosperity, knowledge, and peace that was unrivaled by any, a desert analog to the fabled Camelot. A classless society, where all men were free and equal to one another. But women were traded as property, not even second-class citizens. Order was maintained through a strict series of laws, with public executions carried out in the middle of each week. For hundreds of years, this jewel shone brighter than Egypt’s dynasties, until an usurper known as Ahk-Ton seized the throne of Kahndaq through an infernal pact known as the Crown of Sabbac. The Wizard Shazam intervened in the battle that unfolded, which laid waste to the palace and surrounding city. He broke Ahk-Ton’s crown and banished the demon Sabbac back to the flames of Hell, and then entombed Teth-Adam in the wreckage of his city to dwell over the choices that had ushered in the tragic rise and fall of Kahndaq. That tomb was unearthed by a British archaeologist in 1928, but it wasn’t a boy who stumbled out of his prison – it was a young woman. Stripped of his (her) powers, Teth-Adam found that the only spell that he (she) was capable of casting was the name of Shazam. Adopting the identity of Mary Bromfield, he (she) would become a member of the Justice Society of America during the Allies European campaign in World War II. Unable to say the name Shazam, the red, gold, and white garbed hero became known as Captain Marvel, though the heroic actions of both herself and her companion Liberty Belle were often denigrated in comparison to their male counterparts - precisely the lesson about walking in the shoes of the oppressed that the Wizard had in mind for Teth. At the end of the War, Teth/Mary was tasked to stop the atomic bombing of Japan. Refusing, Teth/Mary instead allowed the bombing of Nagasaki and Hiroshima to take place, as he/she believed it a strategically sound move on the part of the Allies. For this defiance, the Wizard summoned Teth-Adam to the Rock of Eternity, restoring him to his original form before casting him across the cosmos, to make his way back (literally and metaphorically) to being Earth’s champion. Teth returned to find the world embroiled in war once again, this time from the sea as Atlantis invaded. With his youthful appearance, violent disposition, and brash manner, Teth-Adam clashed with the Justice League and instead found more of a kinship with the teenage titans that operated on the fringes of the League’s tolerance (or apathy, whichever may have been the case). Today, he is a solitary figure who often sits atop Mount Justice and looks out over the world that has caused him so much grief. He’s supposed to be Earth’s champion. It’s a job he’s been training for since time immemorial, and he’s still got a lot to learn. P L O T ( S ) & G O A L ( S ) P L O T ( S ) & G O A L ( S ) ________________________________________________________________________________________ Drawing inspiration from Justice League Beyond’s interpretation as Billy, Shazam, Black Adam, Mary Marvel, and Captain Marvel being 5 separate identities sharing 1 body, this is a reinterpretation that pitches Teth-Adam singularly in those roles. Typically, I focus on Billy Batson but my vision often chafes against the modern retelling of his personality. In this instance, I merge the idea of “Asshole Batson” with Black Adam, probably not at all from having watched the movie recently and I think it makes for a more compelling and interesting character than either Billy or Teth-Adam by themselves. I’ve worked out a connection with Static with @Retired owing to their shared “titans” history. Other characters of the period are also welcome to work in connections. In terms of plots, the first story out the gate will be a return to Kahndaq in a Mummy-esque Indiana Jones style adventure, then some vignette style stories to allow for some collaboration if anyone desires before I jump into a second Temple of Doom styled story. The Brendan Frasier and Harrison Ford are strong in this one.

Hi, @Sep, and Happy New Year's Eve everyone.

I was just reading through the posts that I missed about this new update and, if I'm being honest, I'm still very confused on the rules, requirements, and even the mechanics when it comes to NPCs. I've never seen it used before in the games that I've been a part of so this all very new to me and I'm mostly used to playing NPC canon characters in a way that others are free to play to as with all of the players just trusting each other that we'll be flexible, fair, and responsible with them so as to avoid god-modding and issues like that, and of course, consulting the GM and Co-GM(s) for approval too as we all normally do. I just find that it also helps reaching out to each other in PMs, and in the OOC too if there are no spoilers for future posts, to discuss what ideas we had in mind for these NPCs so we can all be on the same page and not be surprised when we see an NPC we wanted to have control of doing something that didn't align with our vision for them. I just find this approach much easier to do and keep up with, personally.

I also worry about the issue of not being able to keep track of who will have control over "X" or "Y" NPC since I saw you mentioned there was going to be a waiting period for them to be used again by someone else. I'm not sure if I understood that correctly though. And I think that could cause some issues because IC posts, as we all know, can fluctuate and there will be many times where players won't post for a long period of time and I worry that that will hold the RP back even more.

Anyways, sorry for the long post, I just wanted to share my two cents here.

Just ignore all of the above. Aquaman and Flash will be NPCs in 7 days if nobody applies for them and we're not going to keep it as a mechanic beyond that

So what about if you’re using villains for your character that are traditionally levied against a different hero? Would you need a sheet for them, and/or approval from the parent PC (if there is one)?

How ‘big’ does a heroic character need to be before they pass that ‘NPC Sheet’ threshold?

Parent PC if there is one as is traditional in these games. If the villain is central to the plot of another character I'd ask for you to PM me first.

In terms of the other question I feel like I may have made things too confusing and as such I'll lock in Flash and Aquaman as NPCs and just ask that if you're ever unsure about using someone who isn't a legacy just to ask me, or us, here or in a PM.
