So I have been on the Guild for a long, long, long, long, long, long, LONG time. I first joined the OldGuild around, my best guess would be 2012? I've been active in the Star Wars scene on the Guild since then, there have been very few games based around that genre that I haven't at least nosed my way in on. My very first game was a Star Wars game and that's what actually really got me into the Star Wars Franchise.

It's weird to think but I am such a major Star Wars nerd these days, yet before I was on the Guild I wasn't. I got into a Star Wars RP, got onto the Wikia, and then away I went into a spiral of nerd-om that I currently live within. I've grown since then, I game quite a bit, I write when I can. I have a wikia full of a lore to my own original creative universe and play around with some 'cool' comic book nerds.

Active Roleplays:

Ultimate One Universe by @Master Bruce

He's not that old, chief.

Maybe not but the years have been tough on him.

You can't control how I imagine him. The more you fight it the older he gets.
I just don't want the water wars to be jump-started by at least two decades earlier, for crying out loud!

My next character
Personally, I don't have any strong feelings either way in regards to the use of AI art within this context. I can understand people's aversion, especially in the wider context of the conversation around AI at the moment, but I personally think Bounce's use of it has been transformative, and with Spawn and Aquaboy I can see the use in a tool like this for creating strong visuals for characters who don't have any to go off of. While others may not care as much about visuals either on the character sheet or in banners, it does personally help me at times to visualise the stylistic differences in appearances to the canon characters. Whether this be through an AI image or a fan design, etc.

My only strong objection to the use of AI would be using it to generate text for your posts, which I don't believe anyone has done here (although I'm probably not the best at spotting it if there is any). We're here to craft a story together, and write together, not with a robot.

All that being said, I'm happy to weigh in on this, but honestly as a GM I don't think such a hot-button issue is something I should have final say over, rather its something we as a group can decide on. It seems people have very strong opinions on this, but I'd like to keep things civil here. I know a lot of you have known each other a lot longer than I have, so I'd just ask we give each other the benefit of the doubt when we're arguing our case here, whichever side of the argument you fall on.

I think it's partly going to come down to quantity. I know we've all used visual media from time to time in these games, often for shock value or to stress a point when something big is going down. I feel like always running to AI is a crutch. Can you imagine how many more Q posts @Simple Unicycle would have written in his life had he not required to relentlessly search for images?

How many hours of his life he would have been able to spend being merry and falling in love?

To scroll through be enjoying reading posts and then you're confronted by numerous instances of it all in rapid succession... It's just not a nice feeling.

That's pretty much how I'm picturing Thomas yeah

If its that much of an issue, I can just sub in Jason from JLU then.

However, to my knowledge, Arthur Curry as a child doesn't exist so what is your alternative in that case?

That's kinda why I didn't say anything about that particular case, personally. I don't know about anyone else.
Pants? That kid is going to get a cold.

You're such a dad.

Not that would arrive at Jason's costume from Justice League Unlimited, with Tim's cape, and ax'ing the elbow and knee pads.

I gotta agree with @Roman, as much as that hurts, they're just reference images the main medium is written. Unless it becomes important to the story nobody will really be thinking about cape colour, or elbow and kneepads.

It's awkward cause this entire genre of writing exists upon the back of creators, and obviously we're not going to commission art for a hobby but I just think using AI is 'icky'.

Personally.
So much for Mutant Monday, but here's another long post for y'all to read.

It's fine @Lord Wraith declared Mondays too busy anyway.

In the next two days I'm hoping to get my next post done, since I've actually slept now which is nice.
Ya'll got gas stations in space?

@Bounce well I guess it's like with what I'm doing. Perfect event for anyone who can journey to space but my default not everyone else can join in
