ShiZhen's phone buzzed as she wrung out her hair into the bathroom sink, making her thankful that she had recently started taking precautions to waterproof her electronic devices. It had been an exciting and stressful few days traveling to the Academy and getting situated, but what she was least prepared for was not being in the same classes as Jake. He had been her pillar since she discovered her 'gift', a gift that had manifested at the end of her last class. Her body had suddenly started collecting moisture from the air, nothing flashy like a tiny raincloud or anything, but as she sat there, she simply got progressively wetter until she was dripping onto the floor. She didn't speak up out fear of embarassment and the teacher didn't seem to notice, but she heard some fellow students snickering behind her and calling her 'Otter's Pocket'. She didn't know what it meant and wondered if otters, like kangaroos, had pouches.

After drying herself sufficiently, ShiZhen took out her phone and texted Jake back, "I'll see you in the Nurse's office, then." She took out her campus map, noticing it pick up residual moisture from her hands, and looked for her destination. With her nose buried in her map, she quietly made her way to the infirmary, avoiding all contact with others, including the pair Jake had mentioned. It wouldn't do make an ass of herself and butt in to someone's conversation. Besides, the boy had raised his voice and ShiZhen was too shy, too non-confrontational and too mentally overwhelmed to get involved right now.

Arriving at the Nurse's office, ShiZhen said, "...p-please p-pardon the intrusion, I'm not ill, just meeting up with a f-friend..." Turning to Jake, she said, "We really shouldn't be bothering the nurse if we're not feeling unwell, J." Looking over to the other girl, ShiZhen did a quick, subtle double-take and quietly nodded in greeting, assuming the mismatched eye color was just a magic thing.

Catherine packed up her notes as the students flooded out of the classroom. She then rang up the janitor to come clean up the large puddle that had collected under the desk of a particularly introverted student. Instead of leaving through the door into the hallway, Catherine threw open the large windows and gracefully flew out into the enormous school grounds to keep an eye on students practicing their talents. Lowering her altitude, she hovered just out of reach, but was ready to be flagged down by any students seeking guidance.

History:

Catherine's focus lies in guiding those who fear their own power, whether they are conscious of that fear or not. This surprisingly includes those who abuse their power for violence. Catherine has gone through two major episodes in her life, one of wanton, selfish, free-spiritedness, and one of absolute obedience. Both ended badly so she is motivated to guide the youth towards their own individual balance.

ShiZhen is quiet, timid and pleasant. She avoids confrontation and dislikes conflict. She also has fairly low self-confidence and is quite humble because of it. She's the kind who just wants everyone to get along, but she lacks the qualities to be an actual peacemaker, let alone a leader. ShiZhen is also very studious and intelligent.

History:

Born the fourth of seven children to parents trying to make ends meet in rural China, ShiZhen didn't know how she was supposed to fit in, needing to juggle the obedience to her parents and older siblings with the responsibilities of taking care of her younger siblings. The family did well enough to send her and her siblings to school, but she did have to help with the family business once she got home everyday. One day, however, ShiZhen became the center of supernatural, water-related phenomena. Fortunately, the Fangs were family friends with the Vanguards, Jake being the same age as ShiZhen, with Jake's parents tellin ShiZhen's parents about the academy.
Her parents agreed to let her go with Jake to where she could learn to control her strange ability.

Serious question: I'm thinking of making Weedle gay as part of his personality, possibly a bit Trans (involving cross-dressing). I want to ask if anyone would object to this. He's not going to be 'hitting on' every male character or anything, it's just going to be a part of who he is. If anyone objects, you can PM me, I won't judge and understand if it makes you uncomfortable for whatever reason.

Before I put my characters into the other tab, I wanted ask if you could accept a minor change. @KRAZY J PM'd me asking if their character, Jake, and my character, ShiZhen, could be childhood friends. When ShiZhen's power manifests, it is Jake's parents who tell them about the academy.

It's a minor edit, but I just wanted to run it by you.

@Stern Algorithm Either ret-con that, or you post how Gredy released you -insert a reason why that you like-, if you want to keep that sad bit as your story.

I might ret-con it then, I think my current goal for this character is to have a lighter mood for the time being. Besides, I feel that character tragedies are better when they happen within the story (rather than before it) so as to evoke more character interaction. Sadness should not define a character, how that character deals with sadness should, but that's just my two cents.

On that note, any trainers hoping to catch a friendly Weedle in Viridian Forest?
