@TreasureSniper Nope, the only way for someone to lose points is if they lose their ribbons. (there's probably a better word for them but eh)

I'll go over the characters sometime later!
@Ryik Right, probably didn't explain it so well. I was thinking the exam be similar to the one from MHA - all students get put in a secluded arena and go around doing their thing. The Ribbons would've been as important as the bots with some types worth less and some worth more than the combatants, and they would be placed semi-randomly.

I'll say the least amount of points one could get is 5, and I do want to avoid having several characters end up with 0 points, so Rank 49 should have at least 5 points, rank 48 at least 10, and so on. And it depends on just how "exam-ending" you mean.

@King Cosmos Yup! I'm planning on making a discord for this.

Also rip me I forgot to put an appearance slot in the app

"Now...it's your turn."

PREMISE
In the wake of Japanese hero All Might's final fight, tensions across the world rise, and wannabe heroes rush to get into their Hero School of choice. You are one such student - selected to join the prestigious New Heights Academy out of nearly half a million other applicants! You would consider yourself lucky...

If the first day of school hadn't gone so terribly for you.

See, while you definitely got in, you still had to take the academy's Entrance Exam. Instead of being the deciding factor of who gets accepted, the Headmasters use the exam to gauge each new student's aptitude and rank them compared to one another. Long story short, you placed rock bottom among the rankings, and everybody knows.

The infamous "Bottom 10".

In the face of adversity and being social outcasts, the Bottom 10 unite with one simple goal: to improve themselves, raise in the rankings, and shove it in the faces of every other student who says they should stay down!

I mean, what else could go wrong for them?

SETTING

New Heights Academy!

Despite being only a decade old, New Heights is a very prominent Hero School. It's one of the few schools to take in students on an international level, was founded by the widely known Atéline twins, and resides on its own private island just North-West of Hawaii. New Heights is known for being very selective in its application process; anyone with a Quirk can apply, but a mere 50 are hand-picked to attend. Though there are rumors that it's actually completely random who they choose to accept...

The academy has dorms for its students, and also invites their immediate family/guardians to come live on the island with them. Being far from mainland and major cities means it's less likely that the school and anyone on the island are collateral damage for villain attacks (which is definitely a bigger concern nowadays).

New Heights is also well-known for its so-called Entrance Exam, but for more controversial reasons. Since the students that are selected to attend are already selected, New Heights uses the exam to test the attendees on their grasp on their Quirk, thinking under pressure, and critical thinking. There are robots worth different points (why fix what isn't broke?) and also special ribbons that have point values on them, to help even the field for non-combative Quirks. The students are ranked, from 50 to 1, based on how they did during the exam. Rankings are public knowledge and are liable to change throughout their time in the academy - this is supposed to foster competitive spirit and healthy rivalries among the different classes, but in practice it produces a very steep social ladder, with those at the top put on a pedestal and those at the bottom barely considered worthy to be there.

But even so, New Heights is praised for its efficiency, and students keep coming year after year.

CHARACTER STUFF

Thanks for the interest, everyone! Think I'll make the thread once one or two more people are interested.

For the record, I'm planning to a) let people make characters that aren't part of the Bottom 10 (y'know, for drama and such) and b) allow two characters per person, if they feel like it. Could change if people don't like those ideas.

Minor spoilers ahead.

When All Might retired from his role, it affected a lot more than Japan. A nation's greatest hero and beacon of hope leaving his spotlight put things into perspective; Pro Heroes became antsy over their own careers, villains the world over were spurred into action, and civilians felt just a bit on edge from it all.

But it was also an inspiration! Budding students felt invigorated and hopeful from All Might's last stand, kickstarting a surge of heroes-in-training who had previously given up on their chance of hero-dom, and pushing them towards greatness.

Too bad not all heroes are made equal...

Hello, welcome to my interest check! The premise of Bott-Ten Heroes is simple: you'll all be playing the newest batch of students at New Heights Academy, a fairly recent but prominent Hero School situated on its own personal island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. The catch is that the usual entrance exam for New Heights has already happened, and due to how the school's application process works...

They're all in the Bottom 10.

Exam scores are public knowledge and, for one reason or another, your characters are at the end of the track - be it from a lack of grasp on their Quirk (or having a near useless one), being waylaid by more competent kids, or just flat out being bad. The Bottom 10 are looked down on by other, higher-ranked students, making the social stigmas of "good and bad" Quirks even steeper of a problem.

So! This RP will focus on the Bottom 10 students of New Heights Academy, and their struggles to surpass their status and whatever's held them back, to one day be the heroes they're meant to be.

More details to come when/if I make the official thread (or if you guys have any questions), of course!

Ladybug and Cat Noir
Location:
Non-Futuristic City

The two androids' cautious approach was met in kind, as Ladybug and Cat Noir landed on the ground in front of them, Yo-yo and Baton at the ready.

"Fighting already?" Cat Noir playfully scoffed. "Guess it won't be too hard to get outta here!"

But the other two lowered their weapons and explained themselves. It only served to make Ladybug and Cat Noir confused.

"Humans? On the moon? I mean, sometimes astronauts are sent there, but..." Ladybug shook her head and relaxed, dropping her battle-ready stance. "I guess that's not so important right now. We're as clueless as you two are, probably, we just woke up. My name is Ladybug, and this--"

Cat Noir sprung forward, closing the distance between them and giving an incredibly theatrical bow. "Cat Noir, at your service!" He raised himself back up with a smirk. "What's up with these floating box things?" He asked, prodding at one of the Pods with his staff.

Hawk Moth and Mayura
Location:
Medieval Castle

The first to wake up was Gabriel. He picked himself up from the cold stone floor of the castle, groggy and holding his head. "Aaagh... where am I?" He looked around, trying to get his bearings, only to find his faithful assistant lying just a few feet away.

"Nathalie!" Gabriel rushed to Nathalie's side, rousing her awake as he helped her up. "Nathalie, are you okay? Are you hurt?"

"No, sir, I-I'm fine." Nathalie brushed the dirt from her clothes before moving to do the same for Gabriel. She stopped herself short, however, and slowly brought her arms back to her sides. "Is this the doing of an Akuma, sir?"

Gabriel brought a hand to his chin. "Possibly, although I don't remember creating one, nor being targeted..." As the two mulled over their situation, an electronic tone sounded - Nathalie's phone. She fished it from her pocket and, reading it over, pointed the message at Gabriel. "It seems as if something else is responsible for this," she said. "'Crossroad', 'tokens', this is all too much for just one Akuma."

"Hmm." Gabriel looked at his feet. Two small stacks of poker-chip-like tokens sat on the floor, purple and blue, one for both of them. He knelt down to collect his five, and handed Nathalie's to her. "One hundred tokens for a wish." He paused to inspect the tokens before a smile spread on his face. "This is it, Nathalie. No more chasing after Ladybug and Cat Noir. This is our big break!"

Nathalie offered Gabriel a warm smile and closed her fist around her tokens. "Well, then, how should we start?"

Ladybug and Cat Noir
Location:
City - Rooftops

Meanwhile, a young girl found herself waking up on a tall building's roof. She didn't panic right away, though; instead, she yawned and stretched as if she were simply getting out of bed. A second to take in her surroundings, though, made her jolt right onto her feet.

"Waaah! Who, what, where-- how did I get up here?!" She scrambled to the edge of the roof, peering over the lip for a split second, before throwing herself back to more-or-less safety. "This isn't Paris! It must be Hawk Moth's doing. Tikki?" Marinette opened her small purse, and out from inside floated the little ladybug kwami herself, yawning as well.

"Yaaaaawhh... What's wrong, Marinette?"

"I don't know, but we have to figure it out! Tikki, Spots On!"

As soon as she turned into Ladybug, the heroine brought her Yo-yo up and flipped it open like a phone. "Let's see if Cat Noir picks up... wait, what?" The first thing on her tool's screen was a message, not one she opened, detailing the rules of the Crossroads. She was even more confused than before. "Tokens? Is this some kind of weird game?"

"If it is, we're a shoo-in to beat it!" Cat Noir leaped onto the roof right then, nearly scaring Ladybug clear off. "Thought I heard your sweet voice, milady! Lucky you, you wouldn't have been able to handle yourself if you got taken here by yourself." Cat Noir leaned on his staff, flashing Ladybug with his trademark grin.

It took all of Marinette's will to not roll her eyes. "Please, you're the lucky one here. You're useless without me, like a cat in the rain."

Cat Noir did roll his eyes, letting the jab roll off him. "I've been awake for a few minutes now, and nothing's tried to take my Miraculous, so I don't think Hawk Moth has anything to do with this. Maybe it's one of those hidden camera reality shows?" Cat Noir looked around, smiling at any place he thought a camera could be hiding.

"Hmm, maybe. But stay on your guard, we can't be sure of anything yet."

"Some reconnaissance then, milady?"

Marinette nodded, and the two leaped from the roof, swinging and vaulting to the streets below!
