Slowly -- but surely -- coming back from a long hiatus.

Better known by the name of Tsu. An "advanced" roleplayer with at least five years of experience on/off. In real life, he is a college student studying in Asia, majoring in design-related fields. Outside of this site, he's also a hopeless poet and an indie writer currently working on his first book (as and when he has the time and inspirations to write something). He is also active in the Harry Potter fandom through participating in fanfic competitions/challenges and building connections with gift fics.

INTP; a Pottermore-certified Slytherin but identifies himself as a Slytherclaw who is both witty and ambitious. Considers himself a Denpa Otaku -- a fan of animanga, visual novels and JRPGs, and he's as opinionated about what he likes and dislikes as every other fan out there.

Coming back to business, the tentative CS template I have created is very different from yours. As you have said, the RP that CS is made for was casual stat-based; for this it's focused on deep lore development, which means rather than one-line point forms I'm looking for more elaboration and depth (don't troll me with pointless essay nonsense tho'. I'll be pissed XD).
@tsukune I actually made up a CS of an idea similar to what we have here, I know you don't have an offical CS skeleton out, but how about I post it just to give you an idea of what I an thinking of?

PM me the said CS and I'll have a look at it. Shhhh don't show everyone all your cards right from the start XD

Nevermind, just post it here and show it to the world.

Actually I already have the CS skeleton ready, just chilling in my computer at the mo'.
Just want to say I'm happy to have garnered the interest of (and maybe to a small extent, unite?) the scattered FF fans on this forum into this crazy project idea. (I see so many Marvel/DC and Star Wars fanatics that I'm starting to lose hope to find much JRPG otakus here.) I thank you all for the enthusiasm and I do hope that this isn't merely a sudden impulse to jump the bandwagon, that y'all are truly serious about a long-term commitment to this game.

@A Common Hero

Of course I welcome questions about any aspects of this RP! :) Questions from players actually help me to know the players' concerns, so I'm aware if everyone actually understands this whole game (read: on the same page and know what exactly is going on), and this will help to minimize unwanted dramas from arising as much as possible. On a side note, questions also will prod me to work harder to make this game into something that all players can enjoy - I don't want to be a dictating GM who is deaf to the feelings of the members in my game. Personally I feel that the GM's role is merely to provide the players a generic stage where they can build their world, story and characters on, overseeing the progress to make sure things run smoothly and only step in as a last resort when a possible drama is breaking out. I (and I'm sure this is the same for my Co-GMs) do not wish to interfere with your miniworlds unnecessarily because we respect the hard work you put into your creations.

I'll try to respond in order:

The Omniverse, Celestia - the Base Stage Where All This Madness Begin
Rather than going with a "solid, real place where our plots are fully ground in a firm setting" which I find it might force unwanted restrictions on how the players can expand their miniworld as they build their arcs (and then things get reeeeeeally complicated when people start fighting over how the world map should look like, which is the last thing I want to happen for this game), I'd say I'm more inclined to go with a generic, "spiritual, surreal landscape" that is fluid and can be shaped to your character's needs if required, a multi-layered veil blurring the lines of reality and dream, probably even the idea of life and death. As far as your characters are concerned Celestia is as real as their original canon world (at least, everything they can feel with all their senses), but it's so vast that you can think of it as an astronomic sphere that contains the miniworlds the players created and expanded within its bubble.

"Amnesiac Dissonance" - a Simple, Complete Mindwipe...or Something Else Much More Sinister?
I want to stay far away from the idea of "strictly a hard and fast, no-memories-at-all amnesia" - rather than brainwashing the characters completely clean, I'd say their old memories are something like a surreal jigsaw puzzle thrown into a mess by whoever brought them to Celestia. Your character(s) will embark on a quest to piece back their past; memories aren't like physical objects with a definite form and they are often greatly influenced by emotions; remember that they are creating new memories throughout this journey which will also affect their perception of their previous life, reevaluating with a different light, so the memory jigsaw in your miniworld may deviate from the original canon. Whether or not your character is able to return back to someone as close as their original self, or someone completely different from who they once were, is entirely dependent on how you develop them in your miniworld. Here, I want to encourage players to eventually make complex, conflicting characters which will stretch your limit as a writer/RPer in the art of character development, and this is nothing comparable to the usual kind of characters you make for most other RPs on this site. Consider this a challenge from me to you people. :P

Regarding character positions - as explained in the section above, I hope it's now clearer to everyone why I'm not allowing reservation/claiming of characters in advance. All players will be given equal and fair chance of choosing the characters they wish to take up, but whether or not you'll get the role will depend on how much you understand about the character you want to play, and convince us GMs if you're truly capable to achieving that character mindrape challenge. >:)

I have noticed a few of you expressed interest in taking up the notable villain roles rather than the playable heroes, I'll be discussing this further with the Cos how we're going about this. Personally I feel it would give rise to interesting development on how these "former" villains look at their past self and judge the deeds they had done back then.
Must be similar tastes, it seems like a pretty alright idea to me. Really hope I've got the time available to hop in this one.

*moi is a little disappointed that you downgraded your opinion from "in love" to just "pretty alright" idea*

Anyway, the posting frequency is at min. 1 per month, so I hope this shouldn't impose much stress on the players. (Speed-posting is highly discouraged as you need to flesh out your characters and arcs properly rather than spamming the IC.) Also, players do not need to wait out for one another to post as you're pretty much in control of your own miniworld and strictly no sudden jump-ins - if players wish to do collab please ask permission from the other party first.
Well kids, (>:P)

I suggest that you should start doing the necessary research on canon and plan the arcs you want to work on, to prepare yourself before I throw you all into OOC hell. *muwahaha*
Ok...

Including myself and the Co-GMs currently I have 5 people in this. (One of my Cos won't be participating in the IC just GMing, so 4 playing members.) Once I've finalized the details and rules with the Cos I'll put up the link to the OOC.

For now, just wait patiently and stay tuned!

EDIT: Make that 6. >:)
No problem. Also, I just have one question. I know you said playable characters, so does that mean people like Sephiroth are out?

Hmm... I'd like the playable cast to fill out first before moving to main NPCs. As said previously, within the miniworld you can include notable NPCs and villains to further develop your arcs. Depending on what the players fill up for their secondary characters within their arcs, some characters may not be available as they are technically "taken".

Of course, regarding character choices this will be finalized with the other GMs first before I can give you a definite answer. This part will be the most complicated out of this whole RP XD
This is, in a way, an experimental RP of sorts as the FF world isn't as 'straightforward' as Marvel/DC - in fact, I'd say FF spans over a much bigger universe.

This game will mainly focus on world-building, plot and character development - aka your miniworld; also to provide opportunity to collaborate with other players' miniworld. Battles will occur, similar to the classic FF dungeon encounters but this is not arena/tabletop/nation RP.

EDIT: As you know I'm currently on phone and I can't type on it so response from me will be slow, sorry.
Edit: @tsukune What about multiple characters? It would make long posts easier.

For starters only one playable canon character per person, more will be allowed only if the GMs find you have enough creative drive to handle more.

Within your character arcs you can include notable NPCs, bosses that closely relate to your character based on canon, and once you established your arcs you can also make up your own OC side characters and monsters to enrich your miniworld.
Anyway, I think you guys are aware that this is a big project:

= I provide a fluid, generic omniverse as the base stage for you to take up a playable canon character and build your own arcs (which I call your miniworld).

= In this miniworld, you'll develop the canon character with your own touch (giving them 'new' memories) while at the same time reclaiming back their past (piecing together the canon backstory). This will give rise to a complex, conflicting character whom you'll have to weigh their fate between their old self and an unknown future.

= There will be GM events to encourage crossover arcs with other players, which will also eventually reveal a much bigger picture...
