Current I think watching fight scenes can help in general terms with writing combat, since it can give you an idea of flow and choreography.

At least if you're writing something you know, with knights.

I mean, depends on what you're writing, and the tone and theme of what you're writing. Trained armored knights were legitimately monstrous on the battlefield, so looking up how they fought helps.

As much as there's a lot of reasons twitter sucks, I genuinely don't want to see it die for the sake of all the artists who now rely on it. Hoping the shithead stops trying to directly administrate.

roleplayerguild.com/posts/5… If anyone's up for fighting some kaiju, why not try out my new RP, Godzilla: YATAGARUSU?

"Oh, is that true? That's awesome!" Ruru declared, seemingly in response to the little robot's beeping. Yuki stared blankly for a few moments. How could she get anything out of beeping? It wasn't as if the little floating robot wasn't expressive, but how did someone interpret differently-toned beeps? It was just another way her fairy was really weird, in retrospect. With a sigh, Yuki continued onward, in time to see Vivi trip up and Mei rush to his aid. He didn't seem hurt, but there was no harm in making sure, right? Yuki walked up behind them and peered at the both of them.

"If Vivi-kun is hurt, Ruru can help out," she added. She might as well make the fairy do something useful, if it came to it. Hopefully, however, it wouldn't come to it.

"... And Yuki used to be Yukihiro, but now she's a magical girl!" Speaking of which, Yuki glanced over her shoulder and frowned slightly as she overheard Ruru apparently explaining more to the robot. Well... that would be awkward to explain if anyone had picked up on it. It's not like she minded anymore, but explaining it was still an awkward experience no matter how much she no longer cared. Hopefully no-one noticed Yukihiro was a male name.

In fact, maybe she should do something to distract from that awkward talking point.

"Oiii, Celestial, er... so you fight monsters and stuff?" Yuki asked, waving her hand to the older, armored girl. It might seem like a jarring subject change, but she'd already offered Ruru's help if Vivi was hurt.

It was pretty hard to ignore just who had stepped out. Sure, those movies were old, really old by now, but it wasn't as if she didn't regularly consume some pretty old media. If something was good, it was good! Good games, good movies, that kind of stuff! Why would she miss out on awesome stuff just because it was old? It didn't make any sense. But that, indeed, that was exactly why she almost instantly recognized the person who just stepped into view. That dark armor, that characteristic breathing. There was no mistaking that voice, either. For a few moments of his initial appearance, the young Korean girl was absolutely flabbergasted at the sight of this particular individual.

"Darth Vader?!" exclaimed D.Va, eyes wide. It was hard not to get caught up in the moment, really. "We're going to fight Darth Vader?! How awesome is that!?"

She looked towards her allies for a few moments. Sure this made Set feel a lot more dubious, but that could be dealt with after they fought DARTH VADER of all people.

"Hehehe, we're not going to be so insignificant compared to the power of the dark side!" D.Va declared, quite a bit more gleefully then one would expect from being about to charge into a fight with a powerful evil figure(though of course he gets redeemed in the end, and tosses the mastermind down into a shaft where he explodes!). "Do you find our lack of faith disturbing?!"

Konpaku Youmu

Hakurouken was swiftly drawn from the severed arm, both katana held at the ready as the girl with the silvery hair kept her gaze firmly fixed on the red demonic man. A blue-white smokey substance, seemingly some kind of gooey fluid, flowed off Hakurouken's blade and dissipated into nothing, though there was no actual hole where it had been drawn from. That second blow had certainly had a serious effect on the demon. And now, both Roukanken and Hakurouken gleamed in the sunlight as the small girl's blue-eyed gaze remained firmly fixed upon the 'red king'.

"If you're going to retreat, then do it," was all she said. Ryu was insane to just forgive him like nothing had happened, and Youmu seriously doubted him now. Certainly, forgiveness was vital in Gensokyo. Those who committed incidents were always easily forgiven. But that was because, even at their worst, they had never done anything too terribly bad. Even the Hell Raven who had sought nuclear destruction had done it as a result of momentary madness. But the demon had clearly been in control of his actions and attempted to kill everyone here.

He wouldn't be forgiven easily, but Youmu would not attack him if he was retreating.

@Lmpkio: I'm waiting until tomorrow to make a D.Va post because @Raineh Daze might edit something.

Youmu post will come when @MacDuffy posts.
@Lmpkio: Oh right I do need to post for her... I... need to decide on some things.
I'm going to wait for the other people involved in that scene to post first, so no Youmu post for now.
Speed is basically Youmu's biggest asset, and she's incredibly fast. That and Roukanken being absurdly sharp and Hakurouken being... weird.

It's not like nothing can hit her, but she is substantially difficult to hit and it kind of makes sense to me that no-one would expect how fast she is yet.
... I'd also like to clarify that I'm totally okay with my characters being hurt.

I don't want this stuff to make it sound like I'm not, but I don't like posts directly contradicting one another and I just felt like nothing so far would really have slowed Youmu down too much and she's super-fast so being able to dodge stuff only makes sense.
It's not like it was the worst thing ever but events did totally contradict each other across posts.

Regardless I'd rather move on and not have an OOC argument like this again for the rest of the RP.
.... That's not true at all.

My edit was to make some wording more ambiguous because I realized I made it sound like Youmu's attacks had already connected. I edited it so it didn't sound like that. I never changed anything about her dodging.
@Wraithblade6: Well, he was trying to grab her throat.

That's what I meant by "grabbing for her throat".

As fast as she is it's physically impossible for her to do what she did if she'd been grabbed. She stabbed with Hakurouken to stun him then went to follow up with Roukanken for an arm-severing attack.
