Current I think watching fight scenes can help in general terms with writing combat, since it can give you an idea of flow and choreography.

At least if you're writing something you know, with knights.

I mean, depends on what you're writing, and the tone and theme of what you're writing. Trained armored knights were legitimately monstrous on the battlefield, so looking up how they fought helps.

As much as there's a lot of reasons twitter sucks, I genuinely don't want to see it die for the sake of all the artists who now rely on it. Hoping the shithead stops trying to directly administrate.

Excellent, the kitsune had chosen to pursue the scrolls. Her nature and attitude had already made her considerably useful in regards to information, and her decision to immediately pursue the town's records when given permission was a welcome one. Nobunaga herself would pursue diplomatic interaction with the town's leader for the moment, gleaning what information she could from the conversation and fostering good relations as quickly as she could.

At least, that was her immediate plan, until Akando appeared, mentioning some difficulty with those creatures...

Enli did not appear to want them to assist, but ultimately Nobunaga found herself seeing this as a perfect opportunity, provided she played her cards right.

The black-haired girl bowed, curtain of black hair briefly covering her face before she straightened.

"Forgive me, but if you are facing some difficulties," she began, "I would be happy to repay the kindness you have offered by permitting us into your village by pledging my assistance."

  • Name: "Pyra Kaos"
  • Age: 16
  • Race: Human
  • Appearance: Very short for her age, with shiny black hair, pale skin, and bright red eyes. Her clothing is red, dark orange, and black.
  • Personality: "Pyra Kaos" is bombastic, extremely self-confident, and prone to making up elaborate fantasies about herself. If she can make what she is doing seem as impressive as possible in any way, she will do it, and she frequently brags of her magic being "hotter then the blazing fires from the depths of the netherworld" and "purging all wickedness with the light of vengeance from a heart of destruction". Seen as incredibly eccentric(and something of a nuisance in many circles), her extreme confidence in herself is almost entirely unshakeable as is her affinity for destructive magic. Her specialization is in fire, explosive spells, and over course beams of raw magical energy in the form of lasers, and she takes utter glee in deploying such destruction. Pyra insists there are few who are as capable in such magic as herself, and exhibits an incredibly smug air when she speaks of her capabilities with such spells. There is little that can shake her bombast and confidence. Being embarrassed, however, which is remarkably easy, will quickly undercut her usual attitude. She is prone to becoming depressed if treated as an annoyance(though at the same time she is remarkably adept at getting people to keep her around for at least a little while). Pyra is also quick to become depressed if she loses a challenge of any sort, sometimes to the point of self-castigation. She is also definitely named Pyra Kaos and there is no such person as "Phoebe Valance" for sure.
  • History: Pyra Kaos was born in the heart of the sun itself, to show the world the true power of destruction and purge all wickedness with her dark flames of blinding light and vengeance! ... Or so she's claimed at least once. Needless to say, "Pyra Kaos" is the assumed name of one Phoebe Valance, a prodigy mage and the daughter of the noble Valance family. A problem child from the beginning, prone to wild imaginative scenarios and making dramatic claims about herself, Phoebe was at odds with her family at nearly every turn. This came to a head when she took the name 'Pyra Kaos' and promptly set out trying to join adventurers and other such groups of people, having pursued magical knowledge and persuaded tutors to help her develop a high degree of power to go with her talent.
  • Abilities/Skills: While she may be an eccentric, Pyra's skill with destructive magic can not be understated. Possessing a wide range of spells, from fireballs to combustion to beams of magical destruction, Pyra is only limited by her own frailty. Her mana pool is quite robust, but her body is rather delicate and she easily becomes tired or strained. Still, her capabilities as a mage cannot be understated. Her preferences when it comes to offense are fireballs, small explosive spells, or raining laser blasts down on target. Her spell library is considerably large and almost entirely focused on pure offense, but she seeks even higher levels of explosive power. This just isn't enough for Pyra!
  • Other: Pyra uses an expensive catalyst for her spells, a gift from her older sister and her most prized possession
Saber - Arturia Pendragon

"... I see you have been summoned here as well," Arturia said, finally.

Her previous memories of Rider were less then friendly, but at the same time... she was under a new Master. Both of them were. Rider no longer had a single reason to consider herself Arturia's opponent, and Arturia had no reason to consider herself Rider's opponent. They were, quite simply, no longer in anything like the same situation.

Still, her hands were clenched. She couldn't help it, it was a reaction that came instinctively.

At the same time, however...

Her glance drifted towards the hooded figure again. Why? Why did her mere presence feel so incredibly familiar?

She could no longer help herself.

"... Who are you?" she began, "You feel so familiar, yet you are neither a Servant nor someone I have met before."

Interest.
Been dealing with real life stuff, hopefully done by the end of the week.
Okay, do to some drop-outs and shuffling, Arturia's new Master is going to be @Rune_Alchemist's Charlotte! We'll be doing some retcons to account for this.
Yes, sorry, I'll get things fixed up today.
Nobunaga straightened, flicking the blood from her katana and smoothly sheathing her weapon. The fight with the beast had played out largely as she expected, and now the corpse was left in the snow, exposed guts steaming as the hunters set upon the body to clean it and prepare it for consumption, presumably.

"I merely utilized my skills as best I could," she responded, to the leader of the hunters, a friendly smile on her lips, "To do any less would be poor conduct in a dangerous situation, would it not?"

Indeed, it would be. But more then that, the simple idea of her needing no thanks... not only was it likely to ingratiate herself to these people, but would begin the path she sought.

'This is someone we can rely on to help.'

But that would take more then a single incident.

Taking time to meet the village's chief was undoubtedly important as well.

As she entered the building, the thing Nobunaga took note of immediately was the embroidery on that outfit. The same as the tattoo on Lazhira's arm...

Asking about a connection, however, could wait until they formed closer ties.

"Thank you," she began, recalling how the hunter had stated that the chief preferred not to be called as such, "I must say, I'm happy to have been guided to civilization. We were in quite a predicament."

Deeper and deeper, the new recruits her lead into the facility. Past different wings of the facility, never pausing long enough to really take in the sights. Not that there was very much to see, aside from a simply sign there was little to suggest what was contained beyond. Occasionally, they passed researchers, or soldiers in uniform.

Aside from a momentary glance, there was very little in the way of interaction.

Commander Nishimura only paused briefly, when they reached a considerably deep part of the facility, before a pair of on-duty guards. They nodded when he appeared and stepped to the side, beckoning him and the new recruits onward.

Beyond was another long, blue steel cylindrical hallway angled downwards.

The commander took another brief glance back towards the recruits, before proceeding down.

It seemed like a significant amount of time before they reached their destination, a set of blast doors that slid open at the presence of the commander.

As opposed to the someone tight, stifling interiors up until this point, the next room was rather expansive, a large hexagonal chamber. On the opposite end there was a wide observation window, near the ceiling.

Lining the chamber were containment units, ovular chambers hooked to the metallic walls. There was one for each of the new recruits, each labeled with their name.

"Ohhhh?!"

A youthful girl's voice from above, playing over the intercom, echoed over the chamber.

"Are these the new recruits?!"

Pressing herself to the observation window far above them was a blonde girl, her lithe frame clad in a labcoat. From here, it looked like all she wore beneath was a dress, or perhaps and oversized shirt, and she wasn't wearing anything on her feet.

"How cuuuute! Hehehe~ This batch is really cute, Commander!" she declared, gleefully, "So they're who all the prepwork was for..."

The commander simply sighed heavily.

"Your Crimson Arm will be labeled with your name," he said, turning to the recruits, "Open the containment unit and equip yourself. These aren't the training units or standard issue equipment, so be prepared for a bit of a rush when you pick it up for the first time."

Indeed, it had already been explained to the recruits that the first time picking up one of the more powerful Crimson Arms could be a bit... shocking. Flashes of sudden memories, lightheadedness, out of body experiences, nausea, any one of these symptoms or more could occur simply from holding one it a person's hands. However, those with the aptitude to wield such weapons would acclimate after a few minutes at most and the effects would fade away entirely.

Some got over it in seconds.

Okay sorry for the delay, I'm realizing I actually have a bit harder of a time getting posts planned out when I don't have my own player character but I'm going to work through that regardless.

Not going to update any later then today, sorry again for how long it's taken.
