Battle of ideologies right now XD Difference between them is I've used a lot of traditional Paladin lore for James' magic, so everything he says is accurate.

James saw the opening in her attack and closed with her, bring his shield to bear and hitting her in the forehead with the bottom rim. "It is by the Lord's will that I hold this power, or do you not understand how paladins are empowered?" Staying within the water mage's guard, he slashed and thrust at her, feinting to provide openings for pommel strikes to her gut and arms. He would not kill her, but she wouldn't escape facing justice for her crimes. "The blood shed to give you this power taints it, makes it wrong no matter what element it bears." He ducks another attack and comes up, delivering a headbutt to her, glad he was wearing a helmet for it. He then remembered that Amelia's spirit had said her name and decided to use it. "Paladins are an extension of His power. If He wanted Slayers judged, Manami Fuyu, he would do so Himself. You are blinded by the preconceptions of someone who spent much of the life lying to you. And here you are, still believing that those lies he told you are true."

An attack forces the paladin to slide back a few feet and he resumes his ready stance. "I will do my duty as a paladin. Either you will be in the custody of the Rune Knights by the end of this day or you will join those who's blood gives you power in the afterlife. Remember that."

Oh yeah they did, she doesn't take too kindly to when people dig that up. She ain't proud of how she gained her magic, detests it even. However that is also what drives her, because she didn't want the sacrifices to have been made in vain.
And on the topic of the people running the church, she just gave them what they deserved XD

Battle of the battle themes

James moved expertly to reposition himself between Cody and Manami, his blade dancing with the golden light of his magic as he unleashed a Smite on Manami, before closing once more and bringing his blade down in a vertical arc. "I am a paladin, Dark Mage. My existence is to seek out evil and cleanse it." James steps expertly to the right in order to avoid any counter attack and attempts to disorient the woman with a shield to her face. "The blood used to give you your magic was shed wrongfully. Your magic is tainted for it, and I will see you brought to justice." The paladin's face was an implacable mask beneath his helm and his attacks were well timed, looking for weaknesses in her defense and offense alike.

@ZarkunWhose currently being shielded? I would think it's just Codt and Ferrin since they're the ones involved in the street fight and not those in the sewer since he can't really see them.

James reacted quickly, throwing a Cleansing Light down on the seal and dispersing the energy it was spewing forth and his shield, encased in holy magic, catching the energy that escaped the Light and dispersing it.. However, his momentum into his next attack was lost so he opted instead to throw down a barrier of protection around those he knew as friends and then brought his sword around in an arc towards Nidhogg, a Holy Slash projecting from the blade in the form of an arced golden energy wave moving through the air.

Mako remained silent as Alan answered the question and nodded in a small amount of understanding. He had some similar experience back in Isvan with his family, who were alienated because of their various roles in riot control and other violence required issues. "I guess in that regard, I don't really know much about guilds...perhaps you could fill me in a little, Mr Mako?" Mako was pulled from his reverie to the present and he nodded, taking another bite of food.

"Guilds, as I have been able to find out in my travels through Fiore, function like...a family of sorts or a military unit, if we're speaking about Frenzy Plant. In both cases, the only truly high authority is the Guild Master, and unless the guild's lively hood is at stake, you're left to your own devices." He took a drink of his tea before continuing. "I have not stayed in the halls of any of this years participants for the Grand Magic Games, but I have stayed in others, and typically they're good and a very solid support group. Who know, maybe one of the members knows something about your missing fragments."
