Lord Ithobal Julius Einther Gully

@Harley Q@Pundii

Ithobal heard his father's words loud and clear. All his life he had been a disappointment to his father and the rest of his family, but now he could finally be a productive member. This could be the moment where the Gully family becomes the strongest in the kingdom outside of the Ainsworth. They would build a thousand year dynasty out of this moment and Ithobal would be the foundation for the strengthening of his family. Ithobal made an acknowledging head nod to his father to show that he understood and they made their way over to the King and Princess Madeline.

Ithobal did a quick bow before the King and allowed his father to introduce Ithobal. Arthur has been a close ally to the King for many years. This would probably help establish the relationship that Ithobal hoped to build.

Ithobal saw his brother by the King's side. It was good to see his brother, but unfortunately this was not the time for informal greetings. He just made a quick nod of acknowledgement to his brother, hoping that he would be able to talk to him later in the evening.

"Your Grace, Princess Madeline. It is truly an honor to be back at Corevial Castle. Out of all the places I have traveled to it is truly the most beautiful. I am sure you have been receiving many beautiful and wonderful gifts princess. Unfortunately, I could not exactly fit my gift into this castle. As being Gully's we are expert ship makers, so I have commissioned a slope for you. Though you may not have been outside of the castle before, you will one day. When that day comes when you tour your kingdom, no other ship will allow you to do it as quickly. For now I only bring a model of what will be yours." One of Ithobal's men pulled a bottle with a ship inside of it out of his bag and handed it to Ithobal. Ithobal then proceeded to give it to the Princess hoping that she would enjoy the gift.

With that, Ithobal and his father made their way away from the head table. Ithobal found a table that was relatively open and sat down with his men. He needed to get away from his father and the stress of actually living up to expectations. He poured himself some wine that he brought himself. It's not that he didn't trust the host, he just wanted to drink what he was use to. If he was going to put himself out of his comfort zone then he wants to keep some comforts. That is when he noticed a kitten that was in the room. And more importantly the raven haired woman who was holding the kitten.

She was dressed as a proper lady would be dressed, with jewelry to match. When she smiled, she had a carefree look to her. This might be the last night Ithobal has to be a free man, so he decided to just go for it.

You know, it's usually rude to bring an animal to a ceremony without giving it as a gift," Ithobal said trying to sound like a mix between funny and confident.

Lord Balian Hyland

Interacting with @Harley Q the Hyland family and Royal family and watching from a table @Tmitche23

Balian turned to his little brother. "Ha. I do clean my armor but if you haven't realized it yet. It was smith ed to be that color. Plus I use my armor on a almost daily basis unlike yours." Balian said. Balian's mother had suggested that they should go visit with the Royal family and have introductions. 'I hate this political game. Having to brown nose with everyone.' Balian thought. He wasn't a big fan of politics preferring to to use his mind for the battlefield. His mind wandered to his troops. The men loyal to him. His face scrunched up as he was in deep thought.

He was brought back to reality by his sister who grabbed his arm. "Truly I don't know if he'll be holding a grudge but I don't want to risk it. Better safe than sorry." Balian gave a soft smile. "A man's pride is a odd thing. Especially for one as him. He's just a nephew of Lord Gully. Pride is really all he has. Unless something very drastic happens he has no claims to the family. So it's all he has." Balian said pausing for a moment. Lowering his voice, " I don't believe he would take this out on Trystan. At least not here. If he were to take it out it would cause a war between our two houses and thats not something that can be taken lightly. I think he was eyeing him with contempt because he's an older knight and Trystan is such a young lad." Balian walked with his sister on his arm up to the royal family. Their mother introduced them. Balian did a quick bow and scrape. Quietly clearing his throat. "Princess I hope you enjoy this day. Its perhaps one of the most important days in a girls life." He said very awkwardly.

He noticed that his sister had already left after saying a quick word. He gave on last bow and left to return back to the tables where his family was seated. Seeing his sister had already picked up the kitten that she had found earlier. Balian made his way to the tables and took a seat. Grabbing a glass he poured himself some wine and slowly sipped at it. He noticed that a man had approached his sister and was appearing to trying swoon her. He kept a eye on him just in case he tried anything.'Probably some lesser noble trying to get a quick fuck' Balian thought.

Myriam Gully

Location: The Feast ===> The Castle Steps
Interacting With: Arthur @Pundii, Ithobal @Tmitche23, Amara (and Amelia) @smarty0114, Catarina @Buddha

◾◾◾

Myriam looked over the book Ithobal had given her. A smile crossed her face, as she lifted the cover and quickly flipped through it. She was touched by the gesture, thinking, he must have put great care into finding the gift. She grew lost in her thoughts, for the moment, as Ithobal continued handing out his gifts, and as Catarina drilled her family with her usual excited questions. Only when her father spoke up did she come out of her trance, closing the book shut quickly in surprise, thinking he was about to scold her for having her head in the clouds.

"Of course, Father," Myriam began. To her right stood one of the Gully's servants, a dark haired, younger looking woman, who she handed the book off to. "Thank you so much for the gift, Ithobal, it's lovely. I'll be back with mother shortly." With that, Myriam picked up her skirt, turned from the group, and made her way back towards the entrance, in search of her mother.

Myriam's shoes clicked against the stone pavement as she went, the courtyard having been emptied of most people by now. The quiet put her at ease; she was, after all, often most happy when she was alone. She entertained the thought of taking her sweet time in rejoining her family. Yet she shrugged the notion off, thinking it'd do her more harm than good to show up late to the feast. At last, she caught sight of Amara, standing before the ivory steps of the castle.

"There you are. We were wondering where you'd gone. Ithobal's just arrived, he's with Father and the others at the banquet." Myriam said aloud, stepping down towards Amara. She stopped before her, taking note of her red eyes and sullen expression. "Mother? Is everything alright?" she asked her, taking her mother's hand in her own.

Lady Juliana Hyland

Location: Inside the Castle
Interacting with: Ithobal @Tmitche23, Balian @RangingWolf

Juliana was still mulling over her brothers words, whispered before meeting the royal family. The thought of anything happening to Tystan or Edwin in the tournament made her stomach twist and throat tighten, her eyes darting the room as if she would be able to find the Lord Gully then and there. But no, that wasn’t wise. Hunting down a man, a lord and nephew of an important man, was not a reasonable solution. Besides, even if she managed to find him, what man double her age would listen to the foolish words of a woman before a fight? Juliana could not even recall if the man would actually be participating. Her worry and concern would do her little good, and Juliana did her best to push them out of her mind, while keeping her composer in the large hall.

The thoughts raced in her head as she scooped up the cat, stopping as she heard a voice address her. The creature looked up at her with its gleaming yellowing eyes, and her own eye darted to the sound of the voice with a twinge of curiosity. For a moment the teasing in the words made her wonder if it had been her eldest brother, but the voice did not match his and she knew he was still entertaining the royals with mother. Her eyes instead fell on a young man only a few years older than she was. He had a plain face and was well dressed, his voice holding the humor of his words despite the tentativeness of his features.

She dropped into a half curtsey, as any lady of her standing would present to a lord. Although she was unable to place his family, she felt it was safe the man was at least a minor lord, if not higher, given his armor and the way he held himself. As she raised herself back up, she gave him a sweet smile that still held the edge of mischief. A feature she had difficultly hiding. “Forgive me, my lord, I would hate for you to think me rude." Her eyes darted to Balian, he had managed to pass her and retuned to their families table, drinking and his eyes on her and the young man. “In truth, I was trying to spare myself the glares of the King and Queen. Can you image their distaste if I presented the animal to the princess and it scratched her? I would never be able to outlive the shame of harming her majesty. And I doubt her future husband would be pleased.”

The words were true enough, the humor of her slight teasing subtle in the innocent words. Her wit was something her siblings could easily have noticed but was often lost on those who only took her words at face value. A trait she disliked in most people if truth be told. “I hope you can forgive my rude behavior, and not find me too foolish.” She gave a light laugh and looked away for a moment, her eyes downcast before returning to him, the picture of a lady. She had perfected the look over the years, confident in its effect. “My name is the Lady Juliana Hyland, of Mount Promonon. Are you here to participate in the tournament, my lord?”

Lord Emerin Hyland

Interacting with Balin: @RangingWolf

Emerin saw Tiras, Grey and Maria running off after the kings ludicrous comment and Emerin felt a pang of guilt for not speaking out but Emerin rather valued his head, he hoped his guests had the foresight to keep quiet lest they lose their tongues. The gully family seemed to be having a mini family reunion, and Arthur did not seem best pleased nor did the knight Tybalt, Emerin was reminded of the last time they met for talks about his nieces betrothal to Lucan who seemed to be near the young princes, Emerin smirked after thinking of Amara's possible reaction to her precious son serving the family she hated.

Emerin noticed Balin sat at the table watching his sister with a cat, heavens knows where she picked that thing up. Emerin knew how much Balin hated the political side of the family so he probably needed cheering up, Emerin moved slowly observing all the minor lords and Ladies desperate for power, he stood infront of his Nephew "Does your mother know you're drinking that?, and what is your brother wearing? it's an affirmation to the eyes! Emerin spoke playfully scolding him. "Well aren't you going to offer you're favorite Uncle a glass?" Emerin raised his eyebrows a smile still on his face.

Lord Ithobal Julius Einther Gully

@Harley Q@Rangingwolf

"And I am Lord Ithobal Gully, heir to Serpent's Roost and the Quell Sea, my lady," as he kissed her hand as is custom. Ithobal could hear the teasing in her voice with here words, and her mischievous smile that she tried to hide behind her lady like behavior. Her smile betrayed her, but it only drew Ithobal more into conversation.

"I understand where you're coming from. If a lady is scarred in any way I would have to believe she is unfit to marry," Ithobal responded with all of the wit he could muster. Unfortunately, she is from House Hyland. They are one of the larger houses along with House Gully. His cynicism wanted to overwhelm him and told him to not trust a single word she said. There was just something about her that drew him into conversation. He just need to remind himself to not let any important information slip to her. For all he knew she was the enemy and would try to get information from him.

"I think I can find it somewhere in my heart to forgive you, but we both know that you aren't so foolish," with that Ithobal gave her a look that told her that he knew she was smarter than she let on. He could not believe how well she blended into the role of a perfect lady.

He just noticed what appeared to be one of her kinsman looking over at the two of them. Ithobal was pretty confident that if he tried anything too drastic it would lead to a confrontation. That would probably look pretty bad in the eyes of the King and all the other nobles in attendance. Though it would be nice to practice his fighting skills before the tournament. He had only been sparring with his crew for this entire time. Ithobal would have to get use to true swordplay though and he would have to hope that a trident would throw people off.

"Why yes I am entering the tournament to win the hand of Princess Madeline. It is my duty to my family to ensure a thousand year dynasty. Or at least that's what my father keeps telling me. I've been a pretty bad son these past couple of years, so I'm trying to make up for it. But enough about my family, who is that man who keeps looking over at us? Is he going to be mad that I'm talking to you, should I take my leave and return in the night at your window?"

Lady Juliana Hyland

Location: The Feast
Interacting with: Ithobal @Tmitche23, Balian @RangingWolf, Emerin @MrMonsoon

Gods help me, another Gully. Juliana felt the wave of surprise at his title and family, the man nothing like the Lord Tybalt she had met earlier. The man had been a nephew, making his cousin to her new speaking companion, and curiosity in the age difference filled her. Ithobal was missing the same cold manners of his relative, the strict look and stiffness. From what she had heard of the family she had imaged they were a serious bunch. Juliana’s assumption had been proven wrong by his comment about a scarred lady. Her eyebrows rose slightly as she let out a small noise that sounded like she had held in a laugh, speaking in the same light manner, “Indeed, even the faintest of marks would make her untouchable. The whole land would be in turmoil simply from a deranged cat.”

The cat glared up at her new mistress and the lord as though it understood their words, but did not squirm. The kitten was unusually calm for an animal its age. “How very kind of you.” Juliana took his forgiveness of his gracefully, although she noticed the look he gave her as he finished, the word foolish punctuated with a look of disbelief. The look held an intelligence she welcomed, despite some discomfort knowing he had so easily seen past her. That she didn’t like, and the feeling was unfamiliar given how rarely it happened. She was slightly relieved when his eyes left hers and caught sight of brother.

As he spoke of the tournament she smiled at the mention of his father, the only Gully she had truly heard a great deal of gossip surrounding. Her own father seemed suspicious of the man, and Juliana made note of the relationship between the two before smiling again, lowering her voice so only he could hear. “Ah, a pity. I should have given the princess the cat after all it would seem. Then you would have lost the tournament to avoid marrying an unfit lady.” Her tongue had taken on a mind of its own, and the comment came across as flirtatious as well as teasing. What was said was done and she moved on without missing a beat. “Yes, you will find that if you come across one Hyland, another is always nearby. He is one of my brothers. A loyal man, with a temper to shake the mountains.”

Juliana looked up at him then, her face passive as she described her brother, accidently forgetting to mention how kind Bailan also was. She regarded his comment about the window, wondering how serious the man was and regarded him with her sly look. “You may visit my window all you like, but I dare say my sister would not be pleased.” Juliana glanced at her brother, keeping her voice low and a half smile, “Besides, I had a mind to explore the lovely gardens this evening. There is a peace under the stars, don’t you find Lord Ithobal?”

She fashioned him with an almost competitive smile, knowing she had given him the power to show up or leave her in the gardens that evening. The power lay with him, but she felt far from defenseless. She had no intention of being easy prey for any lord, regardless of their family, but curiosity and the intelligence in his eyes had won him another chance to speak with her.

Tiras Sky

Tiras looked up at the sky momentarily before looking at his sister. "Nothing...I am fine" he walked to her. "We should go inside...lest they start eating without us" he gave a light gesture and kit wiggled out of the grip he was in to the ground. The fox shook out his coat before trotting to Tiras. Tiras knew his sister would know that he was not fine...not in the least, but he chose to hardly ever talk about his emotions.

Tiras motioned for his sister to follow before he went back inside. His demeanor changed as his walls went back up. His dual swords on his hips showing his skill while his face showed no emotions. He picked a spot to sit. A spot that positioned him somewhat away from his half siblings and their mother. His father always had him around, but yet he still felt distanced from them.

Lord Jeyco Swan & Lady Melinda Swan

Location: Standing before the Princess --> A corner of the hall

Interacting with: Princess Madeleine @MissCapnCrunch Mentioned: Lord Ithobal @Tmitche23

Nula, The Sirens of the Sea

There was an apparent line for those nobles and ladies who wished to pay their respects to the Princess Madeleine. Lord and Lady Swan were patiently waiting in line, taking a step every few minutes that brought them closer to the young lady.

“She’s so young,” Lady Melinda whispered in surprise.

“She is,” Lord Jeyco agreed.

“I would never put my child up for marriage in such a manner. What if some old maester competed for her hand and won? Do you think I’d want some wrinkly old prune in bed with her? I’d kill him.”

“He would have to go through her father first.”

“Aren’t you competing?”

“I am.”

Lady Melinda’s hand harshly slapped her lord’s arm. The sudden reaction made him jump in startle and his eye widened at her as though she had lost her mind. He glanced over his shoulder at the noble couple giving them odd stares, and he quickly accused, “She’s a terrible lady. She beats me all the time.”

She whacked him again before she turned her head over her shoulder to address the couple, “I am not!”

Lord Jeyco whispered to his wife when her attention returned, “I’m not competing for her hand. There’s enough abusive women in my life. If a thirteen-years-old ever started beating on me, I might as well hang myself from the mast by my ****.”

“And if you survived?”

“Then I’d jump into a swarm of sharks than continue on this earth as a ****less man.”

He then arched a brow in curiosity. “Would you or the other girls leave me if I was ****less?”

Lady Melinda just smiled brightly as her olive-eyes gazed ahead at the young princess. “We’re next.”

Lord Jeyco’s head snapped in the princess’s direction and he immediately dove into character.

“Aaah…” Lord Jeyco began, spreading his arms before he brought his right arm across his waist and bent low into a bow. To his right, his wife spread her golden gown and bowed her own head as she curtsied.

“My king and queen…” he raised his head to smile at the princess, fancily holding his hand out, palm up in her direction. “My princess…we are honored to be here and standing within your presence on such a momentous occasion.”

Lord Jeyco straightened and brought a hand to his chest to introduce himself. “I am Lord Jeyco Swan, son of Lord Ibrahim and Lady Derga of the same. This is my lovely wife, Lady Melinda. We have come a far distance from our home in the Diovire, and we bring gifts for the princess.”

The kingsguardsmen were already holding their gifts, having inspected them beforehand. The first guard walked what appeared to be a dagger up to the princess and set it before her.

“I present to you, the Serpent’s Knife. Children of the Diovire learn at an early age how to defend themselves. Both the boys and the girls grow up to be experienced warriors and it is because of this early-learned training that the people have survived for several centuries. I hope that you won’t ever have to use this weapon, but if you do, it will not betray you; and if it bites you, our custom is that you take your blood and glide it along the flat side of the blade. It will never bite you again.”

Lady Melinda glanced to the guard who had her gift. It was wrapped in thin, brown leather.

“I present to you princess, what we call The Winking Stone. It is a crystal born naturally in the desert, but rare to find. The crystal, you see, captures light very easily, and it matters not if it were day or night as long as there is light. The crystal can be used to signal others if ever you are lost or need help. It comes with a chain, and if you spin the crystal, it will make a ring of light. The people of the Diovire know this ring, and we tend to hurry to the person’s aid. May your people know this ring too.”

The Swans bowed once more and Lord Jeyco mentioned before he would forget: “Ah, one more thing. I do intend to compete in your tournament, and if I am to win…well…”

Lord Jeyco glanced over at his wife with an amused smile before he glanced back at Princess Madeleine. “Well I suppose there won’t be much to meditate over.”

Lady Melinda narrowed her eyes at him before she grabbed her skirts and said to the Ainsworth family: “Pardon me, Your Grace.”

She then strode off briskly and full of temper.

Lord Jeyco, in a worried fluster, watched her go. “W-wait, I only said if I won! Melinda!”

He then quickly bowed to the Ainsworth family and comically scurried after her. He followed her over to a corner of the banquet room, and she stopped to turn to face him with her back to the wall.

“Well that went well,” Lord Jeyco said calmly, dropping his character.

“I almost thought that you were being serious,” said Lady Melinda, crossing her arms beneath her bosom.

Lord Jeyco stepped close to her, peeking over his shoulder to check if anyone were looking, before he posted his hand upon the wall next to her head.

“You must think me a fool. I would never give up such a fine woman,” he said lowly, brushing a finger down a silky lock of her hair.

“Not here,” Lady Melinda said, turning her cheek dismissively and trying to hide the coy smile on her face.

“Why not?”

“Because it’s unbecoming of a gentleman to have a bulge in his pants.”

Lord Jeyco sighed deeply and stepped away from her, his eye rolling up to the ceiling as he silently mouthed a curse. This was why he hated going to formal parties. Nobles didn’t know how to have fun.

“Why did you choose to enter the tournament?”

Lord Jeyco brought his sight down to his gorgeous wife. “Because I’m curious…I want to see how my brother fights.”

“Are you going to kill him?”

“No; of course not. We’re blood.”

“What if he tries to kill you?”

Try is right. I am fine with that.”

“There may be matches before that one.”

“No one will get in my way.”

“I hope you find the answer you’re looking for. I will alert the others of your decision.”

“I hope that I’m not disappointed.”

@Belle

He smiled, listening to Lyra's responses seriously before replying. "Hm. Nothing of note, huh... I think I know who I can ask as to the origin of that injury. In any case, the man responsible will be hearing from me. Thats that. As to the fact that you will be joining me at our table... Hm. I suppose mother would be mad. However..." His voice grew softer as he spoke the next few words to her. The hustle and bustle of the festive room made it almost impossible even for Lyra to hear what he was saying, but he knew full well what he was saying and had a pretty good idea as to how Lyra would respond. "What if I go and tell her that I have feelings for you and that since you're a Sky, I would legitimize you through marriage?"

The tournament is just ahead of them now, as it should be starting soon. Trystan is planning on entering and winning said tournament. However, the King as decreed that whoever was to win the tournament will have the Princess's hand to hold. How was he going to refuse such a thing if he won... Now, as he stood next to Lyra and saying the things he said, he is wondering how he can back out of the tournament. Or perhaps he will still participate, but lose it so he does not have to have a child bride... A thousand thoughts flew through his head, most of them filled with interactions between himself and Lyra back at their home. Some of them included things he wanted to do to her, and others were of him plotting his way out of the tournament. In any case, he waited silently next to Lyra with a small grin on his face.

Lady Grey Coulbourne

Interacting with Tybalt Gully
@Buddha

Grey made her way to the table, her eyes unfocused as she thought of the Sky twins and her future family. Being bastards would be a constant influence on her girls' lives, it seemed. But Grey wasn't giving up hope. She could still petition the Lord Hyland to bring her daughters to Mount Promonon.

But her thoughts were interrupted when a man built like a mountain and armored for war approached her. In his hand he held the delicate crystal of a wine glass. The sight was so at odds with itself, she couldn’t help but stare.

”My lady,” he said in a deep voice, offering her the glass. Grey, still unsure of how to react, could only take the offering as she looked up at him. The man then proceeded to… well, ramble was the only appropriate word for it.

”Before you know it, people might come and try to talk to you,” he finished, before muttering under his breath.

Grey blinked up at him. And then her eyes lit up and she gave a stunned laugh. Oh, how charming.

”Yes, my lord, it seems you’re right,” she said, mischief in her smile. ”I haven’t been alone for thirty seconds, and already a stranger has come to me, drink in hand.” She took a sip of said drink, looking up at him from under long, dark eyelashes. Lowering the glass, she offered a polite nod. ”Grey Coulbourne,” she said, before adding in a teasing mimic of his own introduction, ”of Vaernin Forest.” She took another sip of her wine, sweet, burning liquid warming her throat and chest. She glanced to the side before looking back up at Lord Tybalt and leaned in a bit, her voice lowering to a conspiratorial whisper. ”Truthfully, I’m alone because I’m hiding from my guard. He’s a good, honorable man, but terribly stuffy. He’d have me sitting like an ornamental doll under the family banners all day, rather than enjoying the festival, meeting such lovely people.” She dipped her head to Lord Tybalt at the last statement. Then her smile grew sly. "I think he worries I’ll only get up to mischief if I’m without supervision.” She raised her glass to her lips again. ”And how do you find yourself alone, Lord Tybalt?”

Interacting With; | Myriam @Ferris | Ithobal @Tmitche23 | Juliana @Harley Q |
Location; The Castle Steps -> Inside The Castle

Amara was pulled from her thoughts of vengeance by the sound of her eldest daughters voice. Her expression grew softer as she turned to face her. "Yes dear. Everything is...fine," she said, sparing one last look at the steps of the castle before hooking her arm around her daughter's and strolling into the castle, forcing a smile on her face. For everyone else, this was meant to be an exciting day. She would not ruin that with somber tales of people long dead.

"Ithobal's arrived you say? What a pleasant surprise," she said as they walked, her heart leaping at the thought of seeing her youngest son, the one who'd ran off years ago. It had been much too long. A mother should never have to be separated from her children for that long.

As Amara and Myriam entered the area of the most activity, Amara's eyes scanned the room, searching for her second son. Instead, she found her first, standing next to that demon spawn of a princess. Did she know what her father had done? Or did she run all over the place where he'd killed them? Had she soiled the place where their souls had left their bodies? And did he let her? Did that traitorous excuse for a son let her do so?

She was forced to turn her head from Lucan, to keep from flying into a blind rage, and her eyes came to rest on Ithobal, talking to a young, raven haired woman. She turned to her eldest daughter, a smile returned to her face. "It seems your brother has found himself a young lady. We'd best go make sure she's good enough for him. Come, you may one day have to do this for your own sons," she said, before gliding across to Ithobal and his lady friend, Myriam on her arm.

"Ithobal, how good it is to see you," she said, giving him a motherly peck on the cheek, before turning to look at the young lady. "Won't you introduce me and your sister to your friend here?" she asked, her eyes scanning the woman like a snake watches it's prey, although her smile gave off no such feeling.

Interacting With; Each Other and Amara(@smarty0114) | Trystan( @KillBox ) | Juliana( @Harley Q )
Location; At the feast → Empty room → Back at the feast

Edwin bowed before the royal family as his mother introduced the Hylands, smiling at the princess but keeping any words he had to himself. His mind was elsewhere currently, debating with himself about the merits of Lord Dunkirks plan, a plan that could very well give House Hyland the influence it needed to get more power.

But then again, if this was all a trick, or if the plan went wrong, how quickly would his house fall from grace. The Hylands would be slandered as liars and cheats, and that would do nothing good for his family. But sometime's this game required a few risks. Truly, he'd have to discuss it with his mother first. He wasn't the head of House Hyland yet.

Once all of her children had bowed before the royal family of the Corevial Castle, she dismissed them and bowed herself while walking a slight distance behind them. Her eyes cut towards Emerin as her cold, piercing stare told the story. She'd need to talk to him later for sure but for right now, she was going to enjoy this feast since she was indeed hungry from the trip.

Julia ate like any other lady should as something crossed her mind from earlier. Edwin needed to talk to her and what a perfect time than now. She took another bite of the food then stood up, walking over towards Edwin as she smiled towards him. "If you still wish to talk, now would be the time." She muttered only loud enough for him to hear as she waited for his reaction before going any further.

Edwin heard his mother's words, though he was sure no one else did. He gave a slight nod, and finished chewing his food before standing up and excusing himself from the feast table, though most of those sitting there were far too drunk to notice. All the better for him. He walked across the hall, over to the entry way, where he took a right, into an empty room.

There he waited patientl for his mother, who arrived shortly thereafter. Making sure the door was shut tight and no one was hiding in the room to hear their conversation, he began speaking, though his words were still hushed. "I spoke to Lord Dunkirk today. He made me an offer. He said he could get many of the lesser lords out of the tournament, and give whoever we entered a better chance of winning. I told him I'd have to speak with you before making any decisions, but we need to make one soon. The tournament will begin shortly, and if he needs time to set up, we'd best give it to him," he said, biting his lip nervously.

Julia looked at Juliana, who was interacting with a Gully as her eyes went to Balian, basically giving him a stare that said to watch over her. She walked a brief distance behind Edwin as he stood up and walked over towards the entry way. She followed his same path into an empty room and stood before him now, raising a brow out of curiosity. She wondered to herself what this whole matter was about as she continued to look at him while he made sure no one was around before he started to speak.

She listened very closely to Edwin's words as she was ready to react when he was finished. She didn't like the idea, honestly but if it was to get the lesser lords out of the way then why would that be a problem exactly. Julia waited until Edwin was done speaking before parting her lips and speaking as well. Her words was just as hushed as his were. "Edwin, I honestly don't know. I mean, it sounds like a good idea but what does this Lord Dunkirk want in return? And I thought I told you to stay away from there."

She was furious enough to hear that Edwin was still hanging around there as she placed that at the back of her mind and continued on speaking. "Let me just state this, dear Edwin, you're next in line to the Hyland throne after your father. I'll be Queen Regent then. And have you ever known for a King to rule a Kingdom without a Queen?" Her response would've gave him his answer as she was very direct with her responses. She hated the idea but she really wanted one of her boys to win the tournament and gain the hand of Princess Madeline.

Edwin sighed as he thought about his mother's questions. "I don't know what he wants, my best guess is he'll want some sort of favor. I'm sure he'd become an issue farther down the line, if one of us did win the tournament, but he could always be silenced," Edwin said.

Edwin thought harder about his mother's talk concerning a king and a queen. He looked her in the eye before making his next statement, which very much sounded like treason. Funny, he'd heard a lot of things that sounded treasonous today. "If Trystan wins that tournament, we'll have someone on the inside. You and I both know Mother, us Hylands were not meant to sit on Mount Promonon. We were destined to sit on the throne and rule over Lhivoria," he said, his face intense.

Julia looked at Edwin as he said that Dunkirk could always be silenced. She gave a reassuring nod as she continued to listen to him now. His words were very enticing towards her as she reached up and cupped his intense face into her hand. It was treason for him to think that way and she wondered to herself if he exactly knew that or not. "Oh, your father blood runs through your veins, Edwin. You really are your father's son."

She'd butter him up with those words before going in for the kill with her next. Julia was like that with almost everyone but she wanted Edwin to understand what he was exactly planning to do. "Edwin, this is treason and if caught, you and I are both done for. Look, understand this, you're old enough to make your own decisions and whatever you choose, you know that I'll support you. I do want to rule over Lhivoria but I can just feel that someone else is cooking up something, as well. You know I am never wrong." She spoke those words while holding onto Edwin's shoulders, her gaze locked with his.

His scheming didn't end there though. "With Trystan on the inside, he can act as a snake in the grass, hiding, gathering secrets and information about everything the Ainsworth's have. Their armies, their ships, any secret weapons that they may keep. And then, when the time is right, he could take the princess and we could strike. With Tiras marrying the Coulbourne girl, we could have the people of the forest behind us, supporting our fight. Everyone knows they've never supported the Ainsworths or their divine right," he said. Edwin made it clear that Trystan was to enter the tourney, if anyone. The eldest Hyland had no desire to be married to a girl who was practically still a child. He'd marry who he pleased, once the throne was his.

She knew that Edwin was sort of headstrong just like his father and herself as she eyed him as he brought up many reasons as to why Trystan should win. Julia dropped her hands back by her side now while nodding her head at all of Edwin's words, taking them in. "You're right but are you really willing to sacrifice your own brother for such a thing? Think, Edwin. We can get certain things in all due time but sacrificing your brother is not the way to do it. But as I said before, you're old enough to make your own decisions. I can only tell you what not to do but at the end of the day, it's up to you."

Julia needed to be a bit harsh with Edwin in this moment as she didn't want to lose one of her children yet. Her eyes looked at Edwin as she felt a little bad about being so direct and harsh towards him and saw his intentions were good but there were fatal consequences behind them. Those consequences surrounding herself, Edwin and Trystan. She let out a sigh and looked at Edwin again, waiting for him to respond.

Edwin sighed, put off by his mother's words. She was right, of course she was. This plan held risks for them all, but Trystan would be taking the most risks. Was he willing to put his brother in such danger, all for a chance at the throne? He paced across the room. Was this what being the head of the house would be like? If so, he wasn't surprised his father had fallen so ill.

His mind was waging a war with itself as he struggled to make the right choice. His ambition urged him to make this move, to take the risk. But his heart, his love for his family urged him to wait it out, to wait for the next opportunity. But another opportunity may never come along he thought, chewing his lip.

He shook his head, finally settling on a decision. "Trystan can survive this vipers nest. He's strong, stronger than we may think. If he wins, I'll inform him of what he's to do, but only then. No use in scaring him now. I'll let Lord Dunkirk know to go ahead with the plan," he said, looking at his mother. He hoped to every higher being that there was that this was the right choice. If he was the cause of his family's ruin, he wouldn't survive the shame.

There was really no point of Julia talking any sense into her son. She had pleaded and pleaded but knew she made a mistake when she gave him the choice to decide on his own. She looked at Edwin then walked closer to him, wrapping her hand softly around his arm. "Well, it seems that you have made your decision. I hope you feel terrible inside knowing that you are putting everyone in danger."

That was all Julia said as she dropped her hand from his arm and back to her side while walking towards the door and stood there for a moment. She turned to look at Edwin one more time. "What would your father think? What would he say? I want you to think about that." Julia asked but didn't really want hear his answers to her questions.

Her heart was indeed broken at Edwin's actions as she couldn't save him now but she could still save Trystan. With a sigh, she opened up the door and entered back into the hall was the feast was being held as she saw her darling daughter surrounded by three Gully's, one of them being Amara, Queen of the Sea. She walked over towards Trystan and Lyra now, smiling upon her entrance.

"We must talk soon. Come find me when you are done with Lyra." That was all she had said before walking away from them. She spoke so that only Trystan could hear her as she walked over towards the table and leaned down, muttering into Emmaline's ear that she might need back up. Without a second thought, Emmaline stood up and followed her mother over there towards her sister as the three ladies of Mount Promonon stood before the Gully's now.

"Dear Amara, how long has it been?" She said with a smile as Emmaline bowed towards Amara. "Your majesty." Was all she said while walking over towards her sister, Juliana and wrapped her arm around hers, giving Ithobal and smiled. She didn't trust the Gully's for some reason but that was to come forth at a later date. Julia eyed Juliana for a moment before taking her gaze back up towards Amara. "I hope my dear, Juliana, didn't get herself into trouble." She spoke with a light chuckle afterwards.

Lord Balian Hyland

Interacting with @Harley Q@MrMonsoon and mentioning @Tmitche23 and @smarty0114

Balian watched his sister talk to the little lord. 'Probably another gully. They seem to be crawling all over this place. He thought. Balian saw his uncle. By the time his uncle had finished playfully scolding him he had already poured a glass and had it raised up toward him. "Grabbed the biggest cup I could find. Surprising I don't see any women on ya." Balian said with a smirk. "What mother doesn't know won't hurt her." Balian stopped to finish his glass. Grabbing the pitcher her poured another cup. " Lifting his glass, he raised it eye level. " This is about the only thing interesting going on. Too much brown nosing for my taste. Ya know?" Balian said taking another drink. "Trystan is wearing that fancy armor cause he's gonna be fighting for the princesses hand in marriage. Silly boy hasn't even had a actual fight in his life." He took another sip and pointed at the man Juliana was talking to. "How much you want to bet that's a Gully, Uncle?" He asked.

Out of the corner of his eye he saw his mother staring at him then looking at his sister. He nodded his head letting her know that he'll keep a eye on her. Looking back he noticed that two more people had joined Juliana's group. "Shit Uncle those are Gully's. That old crone there is Amara Gully. Should we step in Uncle?" Balian said lowering his voice so that it was only loud enough for his Uncle to hear. Balian looked back to his sister and noticed that his Mother and sister were going to were Juliana was. "Hmm looks like we might not have to."

Lyra

The girl gasped, backing away from Trystan. Her hand flew to her mouth, her eyes wide in shock. They had lived under the same roof for several years and he had never spoken this way to her! Was he bored or truly trying to get her to his bed?

"You may be my lord and master's son," Lyra said. "But I never expected such cruelty from you. Is it an entertaining pasttime to toy with the mind of a servant? There are plenty of noble ladies here who would no doubt vie for such attentions from you. Please, go occupy yourself with them and leave me be."Shaking violently, Lyra ran away as Lady Julia approached and spoke into Trystan's ear, no doubt telling him to stop conversing with the lower class.
Turning a corner, she hid behind the wall and wiped at her face where tears threatened to fall. Her heart pounded as she struggled to breathe again. Was God tormenting her also?

It had to be a game. Lord Trystan Hyland was to enter the tournament and vie for the hand of the princess. There was no way he would marry a servant over a princess. Was he trying to secure a mistress before his marriage? Well she would not be the one to warm his bed in his wife's abscence. She would not have bastard children to suffer as she had.

A rough hand grabbed her shoulders, shaking her. "Are you ill?" the voice of another servant demanded.
"No... no..." Lyra stammered.
A jug was shoved into her hands. "Then get out there girl! Cups are beginning to empty!"

Stumbling back into the feast, Lyra tried to keep her feet steady as she walked among the nobles, filling cups with the rich wine she carried. It smelled strong. It made Lyra feel sick. The smell of any alcohol made her feel sick. There was a reason for that. One that plagued her nightmares to this day...

Her hands still shook as she poured, sometimes a few drops of wine would spill out but no one noticed the servant girl's distress. Why should they?
Her eyes still glistened with tears as she approached other members of the Hyland family.
"Wine for your cups?" she asked, cursing her shaking voice and hands. If she spilled wine on her master's family...

Lord Tybalt Gully and Lady Grey Coulbourne have small talk and then discuss the Hyland family, detailing both Tybalt's experience with them as well as Grey's reasons for asking about them - they are interrupted by Grey's escort, whom promptly recognizes Tybalt from a former tournament, before taking Grey with him again back to the stands of the Coulbourne family, leaving Tybalt behind.

Lord Ithobal Julius Einther Gully

@Harley Q@Ferris@smarty0114

Ithobal breathed a sigh of relief when she quickly retorted with her line about a scar ruining a beautiful bride. She was probably the sharpest Lady in the room, and it made Ithobal wonder if all of the Hyland's were like this. They were known as great warriors, ones who Ithobal's father always held a mistrust. They were both the most powerful military forces in the Kingdom. The Quell Sea was always known for their naval fleet, and the Hyland's for their armies. Arthur Gully changed that, he was a great military leader, and Arthur assumed it would cause ire in the Hylands. With Ithobal's cynicism being mixed with his father's implanted opinions, it would make sense to get out of this conversation, but Juliana's words kept drawing him in. Like Sirens drawing lost sailors to their death on sharp rocks, but Ithobal knew he would have to be alert.

Then a line hit Ithobal, Julian mentioned that she should have given the cat to the princess in hopes of it scarring her. Ithobal might have been mistaken, but he was pretty confident that she was flirting with him. Ithobal didn't know what to do, he didn't really think he would get this far. He thought she was just going to reject him and he would at least have some fun. He has a princess to win tomorrow, and tonight he has met a woman who made him rethink his actions. Could he give up such chances just for his family? He would be disappointing them again, but what else was new?

"Then you best be careful with the kitten, if you get a scratch from it you might never find a man worthy of you," Ithobal responded with a twinge in his voice to respond to her flirtatious advances. Of course her family would always be near by. It would be nice to have some time to get to know her, at least not in a crowded dining hall. Then she made the move and invited him to the gardens to walk and look at the stars. Before he could respond with a real answer, his sister, Myriam, and his mother came to interrupt the conversation.

"Mother it is so good to see you. I hope the trip was safe, and it has been too long since I've seen you," Ithobal returned the peck on his mother's cheek. He quickly transitioned into his introduction, "Mother, Myriam, I would like to introduce you to Lady Juliana Hyland, of Mount Promonon. We have been having a lovely conversation about the tournament, this adorable kitten, and the stars. And Lady Juliana, I always find time to look at the stars, I feel they bring out the beauty of the world." He said that response rather plainly to try and keep his mother's prying ears from their true conversation. If there was one thing Ithobal didn't need in his life right now, it was his mother meddling in his love life. Knowing his mother, he does not have the power to end the conversation and he can only hope that his mother is not too interested in Juliana.

@Belle@HushedWhispers

Seeing her reaction, he truly realized that she took what he said as a cruel joke. It seems his genuine words fell deaf on one who has been trained to do nothing but obey orders, instead of fight for what one wants. In any case, Trystan would make sure she understands that he truly wants her at his side, as his Lady of Mount Promonon.

Just as he was about to chase after Lyra, his mother whispered some words to him before departing from where he stood. His face became stern. His mother did not usually speak this way to her baby boy. This kind of tone was reserved mostly for his older brother, with whom more are expect, or when he has broken a rule and was in trouble. Sigh, peering off in Lyra's direction with saddened eyes, he turned and approached his mother, fully ready to explain to her his desires.

As he approached, he lowered his voice so his mother and sisters can understand him. "Mother, I...I want Lyra to be my wedded. I don't care if I win the tournament, the Princesses is better off marrying someone like Edwin or Balian anyways... They lay more claim to the Hyland name than I do and thus would be a better match. Please, grant me this wish..." Trystan offered a small courtly bow, just as he was taught, when the group approached Lady Amara Gully, but otherwise remained silent, standing next to his sisters.

Lady Juliana Hyland

Location: The Feast
Interacting with: Ithobal @Tmitche23, Lady Amara @smarty0114, Myriam @Ferris, Lady Julia and Emmaline @HushedWhispers

Juliana was forced to contain a wicked smirk as he commented about a worthy marriage failing due to scarring or injury; If only it was that easy. She was loyal to her family and their ascent to power in the Kingdom, but on the topic of her own martial bed she had also fought back venomously. The idea of an old man, whose power her father coveted, having her hand was enough to make her skin crawl and teeth on edge, regardless of the influence he could give her with such an alliance. Even in her contempt, Juliana had heard his wording, noting he had suggested a worthy man rather than marriage, and this perk her interest more than she cared to admit. At times she felt her father cared so much for family he forgot the individual that made up his family and children.

Two women approached and interrupted their conversation as he considered her words about the garden, and she soon understood why. The affection between the three and their similar looks made it apparent before Ithobal even spoke that the women were Gullys. The older woman was fierce looking, although her demeanor was one of any true lady of a powerful family. The younger appeared the same age as Emmaline, although a bit more naïve, as though the world had been kind to her. Juliana made quick and graceful work of the situation, falling into a deep curtsey with an incline of her head to first his mother, “Majesty,” then his sister, “My Lady.”

She had seen woman address her own lady mother and older sister in a similar fashion through the years, and rose again with a gentle smile painted on her lips, “It is a pleasure to meet you both. I seemed to have forgotten myself, and was caught up speaking to your son for too long. It is rare I find someone so interested in the stars and constellations as I am.” Juliana’s eyes turned back to Ithobal, the mischievous smile playing the corner of her lips for only a moment regarding his comment about the stars; it appeared she had her answer about him meeting her. She let out a light laugh as though at her own foolishness, “Although, it should have been apparent that a man of the Quell Sea would share such interests.” The full, sweet smile had returned as she looked back at the two Gully ladies.

Juliana had a moment for her mind to wander to the day ahead of her; a day she would loath regardless, but now with the promise of a conversation with an interesting stranger it seemed to loom longer. Not to mention the tournament, a serious matter between the simple flirtations. He was competing against her own blood, and a small sense of tension filled her. Her face hid the feeling well, taking in the Lady Gully, her eyes regarding Juliana. Although she could sense no sign of hostility, she hardly trusted it. She had seen her own lady mother regard people she secretly detested with a similar look.

The Lady Julia appeared to have sensed the thoughts of her youngest daughter, and Juliana’s ears perked as her mother’s voice surrounded her and appeared to blanket the situation. She had a gift of knowing when her children were in or causing trouble, and Juliana was well aware of her own history of often being the one causing trouble. It appeared the Lady Julia was also remembering Juliana’s tongue and persistence, and Juliana felt her mother’s eyes regarding her carefully before speaking to the Lady Amara. She felt a sharp remark on her lips, her own willful personality screaming that she had not been the instigator, and had hardly embarrassed the family. As the feeling welled she felt an arm slide around her shoulders in a comforting embrace, Emmaline holding her affectionately. The fight left Juliana and she smiled and looked away as a simple lady and dutiful daughter was expected, giving over the conversation to her mother.

She stroked the kitten gently as her gaze shifted from the Lady Amara and Julia to Myriam once again, who appeared quiet and truly dutiful. She examined the dress and style of the lady, making note to find her at a later time and perhaps get a better understanding of the family and the man who had drawn her in. Her eyes glanced at Ithobal again, the humor back in her smile. It was a look similar to those she had given her siblings when they had been caught in mischief together, a bemused look for a fellow conspirator. The difference was the curiosity she felt, and the lack of any desire to desert him to his fate while she escaped the careful eyes of their family. That feeling would need to be stamped out if possible; her loyalty to Hyland was too important.

Lucan Gully

Location: The Feast
Interacting With: Me, Myself and I

Lucan watched closely as his family approached the royals, his brother and his father anyway. He wasn't surprised that his mother wasn't with them, she had always hated Samson, and every one of the Ainsworths by association. To a degree, that did make Lucan feel guilty, he understood his mothers ill feelings toward him as one of those sworn to protect her greatest enemies, how could he not? His thoughts were interrupted by another families approach, the Hylands. Much to the opposite of his own family, he noticed that their Lord was missing, Lucan had met the man before a few times, he was an individual to be respected.

Lucan's views on the Hylands were rather varied to those of most of his family, the Gully and the Hyland families didn't exactly trust each other, and Lucan knew that was partly, if not entirely his own fault. As the thought crossed his mind he awkwardly shifted where he stood, the scale mail of his armour rattling slightly as his palm rested idly on the pommel of his blade. A few of the Hylands moved off, and as Lucan watched them leave he caught the eye of his mother, staring at him. He could almost feel the disdain from there, a deep pit opening in his stomach as a wretched feeling filled him. It was getting harder to breathe, everything at once was building up, stifling the man.

"Pardon me a moment, your grace - i'm going to get a report on the perimeter." A lie, but a much-needed one. Taking a step away from the royals, he trusted the few guards around and in the alcoves above to keep watch over them as he took a few steps off toward the entrance. Although it had been crowded with people moments before, many had moved inside to the feast proper, and Lucan was able to get some fresh air. Lucan began to sympathize with his father's own disdain for gatherings such as these, but he figured the two held different reasons for such.

He turned finally to head back into the feast, when a door to his left opened, the Lady Julia and her son Edwin stepping out a few moments after each other. He watched as they moved back into the hall, before peering into the empty room. He could not for a moment guess what they had been discussing, but for once Lucan considered perhaps there was some merit to distrusting the Hylands. Shifting his gaze back over to Julia as she moved over to his own family, he saw the growing collection of the two families - a collection he had no desire to join just yet. Wandering back in, he sighed as he moved about the rim of the feast, staying quiet as he settled somewhere away from the crowds, eyes shifting between his family, conversing with the Hylands, and the royals he was sworn to guard.

Arthur Gully

Location: The Feast
Interacting With: Amara, @smarty0114 Myriam, @Ferris Ithobal, @Tmitche23 Julia, Emmaline, @HushedWhispers Juliana @Harley Q

Following his brief conversation with the royals, Arthur watched as his two sons moved away to wherever, wandering away himself to return to his own observations. He stood near the center of the hall, and even without his guards most of the nobility kept a reasonable distance between them and himself. His eyes flashed over those present from both families. Catarina and Amelia sat together conversing, there were times Arthur pitied Catarina - she was still young, still innocent, far unlike the viper her older sister had become. Amelia knew how to play the game well, and she'd earned her position as his adviser.

He turned his gaze to his eldest son, standing near the entrance with his armour and sword. Lucan may have given up his position as heir, a position he was fit for, in Arthur's eyes - but he was still an expert swordsman, a master with a blade and the Lord-Commander of the kingsguard. Arthur could not scoff at such a position, it was well-earned, and a high one indeed. Ithobal caught his eye next, chatting with Juliana. For a long time, Ithobal had been purely a disappointment to his father, and Arthur still often treated it as such, but he had to admit - the boy tried. Ithobal was making an effort to take on his role as heir, and it did show, just as well, he was an excellent sailor, and leader of men.

His own wife, and his eldest daughter Myriam soon came into view as well as they joined Ithobal. Arthur had a complicated relationship with Myriam, on one hand, she was less ladylike than her sisters, more boyish, her interests lying elsewhere than they should have. She barely understood the game and how to play it, and she could often appear awkward. On the other hand, she was kind, compassionate, perhaps the most genuine of all the Gully's. As these thoughts crossed his mind, a smile never came to Arthur's face, he never showed such compassion - and few knew it. In fact, only his wife, Amara, knew the truth behind Arthur. He was incredibly proud of his children, all of them.

Sucking in a deep breath, Arthur clasped his hands behind his back once more and began to move toward the group which was forming, coming up behind his wife as he gently shifted a hand to rest it on the small of her back, bowing his head somewhat to the Hyland ladies across from them. "Lady Julia, Lady Emmaline - it has been too long." His gaze shifted toward Juliana then, offering a similar nod. "If i'm not mistaken - you must be the Lady Juliana? Lord Arthur Gully, a pleasure." He introduced himself, watching the three ladies with a plain and neutral expression, as to be expected.
