Shikaze Miki
清風 美紀

Age: 57 (~16 human age, may change)
Gender: Female
Race: Kitsune

Personality: Miki is free-spirited and energetic, making it her mission to enjoy life to the fullest and aid others in doing so. She makes new friends easily, but only keeps a select few close to her. She does have a certain distaste for boring people, and often tries to shake them out of their routines.

Abilities:
Limited Shapeshifting
-Miki can hide her supernatural features, but that's about it.
Invisibility
-Miki can disappear from sight, and even fool cameras, but this only lasts a couple minutes per day.
Illusions
-With a bit of uninterrupted eye contact, Miki can fool someone's senses. Complex illusions are easier to see through, and suspicious people may not be fooled at all.

Skills:
Parkour/Agility
-Miki is an expert at moving through the urban landscape.
Skateboarding
-Where Miki's feet can't carry her, her favorite set of wheels usually can.
Lockpicking
-With the right tools, most mechanical locks are but a minor inconvenience to Miki. She's useless against electronics, though.

Equipment:
Running Outfit
-A set of clothes chosen for maximum maneuverability without standing out.
Skateboard
-A vintage California Free Former longboard, probably Miki's most prized possession.
Lockpicks
-A small set of picks, only carried while working.

Brief Backstory:
Miki was born in Miura City, and has been around for long enough to watch the rise of the digital era. She spent her first couple decades partying and generally running wild, both in Miura and on the road, but eventually felt the need to do something at least a little productive.

With that in mind, she realized that the people of the Imaginary District often found themselves in need of items from the outside, and that not everyone could mingle with the humans to get them. She decided to become a courier, running items of interest (and occasionally sensitive information) from the human city to the supernatural community... but why buy those things when one can just take what one wants?

Needless to say, her line of work has gotten her in trouble with both human authorities and the Imaginary District police, who don't appreciate the attention her activities gather. But she's not likely to stop anytime soon, as she knows some people have come to rely on her. And as for the law? Well, the thrill of the chase is just one more thing that makes it fun.

Name: Seth Hayate
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Appearance:

Personality: Due to being an outcast in this world for a majority of his life Seth is a somewhat more distant and cautious person not telling anyone more than they need to know about himself, especially the true secret behind his ability. However, when around someone Seth considers to be a friend the change in him is quiet significant as he drops his guard and becomes a much more open chatty almost too talkative person as if he was trying to make up for lost time.

Abilities: Due to a necklace Seth wears he can manipulate air around him to a certain extent. Since Seth only recently obtained this ability its power is still fairly weak but over the year Seth has had it he learnt how to detect changes in air currents within a certain range acting as a sort of sonar which can be expended upon depending on how hard he is concentrating at the time. He can also send blasts of wind outwards through punches and kicks though gets weaker the further is travels making it most effective at close range.

Skills:
- A proficiency in kickboxing from going to clubs when growing up but nothing close to a professional level
- Decent cooking skills since he had to cook meals for both himself and his Grandfather growing up.

Equipment:
- His necklace from his Grandfather which allows him to control wind
- A pair of goggles to keep wind out of his eyes which is useful due to his inexperience with his ability

Brief Backstory:
Born first into his family Seth was expected to have inherited his parents Wind magic traits but by the age of 3 no such trait showed itself and he was just normal, a normal human in a world surrounded by people who could do amazing things, where humans and non humans walked the streets. Needless to say he was shunned by a most of the world but not least of all by his family whose second son was born by the time Seth was 8 and possessed his parents traits and hence took up most of his mother's and farther's time.

Seth was sent away from his family's house once he hit 11 to go live with his Grandfather to keep him out of the way and attended school like normal person and even there performed average in grades, not terrible but not good enough to make anyone notice. At the age of 18 Seth finished school and was left with few options outside of getting a job to trying to live a normal life. None of his family came to celebrate his graduation apart from his Grandfather who gave him a gift a necklace and told him his secret, he too possessed no magical trait but had used this item instead to fool people and passed it onto Seth as a gift. A few weeks later his Grandfather past away and Seth lost contact with his real family as he had no desire to meet those who had thrown him out and joined the Miura Youth Organisation as a way to practice his new ability and prove himself.

  • Name: Blanche
  • Age: ~1000; 11 when demons first came into being.
  • Gender: Female
  • Race: Demon
  • Personality: Age is supposed to bring wisdom. That is, at least, what common knowledge holds to be true; it doesn't apply to Blanche any more than it does most demons. She's good at executing her duties but fairly absent-minded when it comes to most things other than 'calm down an angry demon' and 'spot Saint's Tools before they stab you'. It takes real persistence for her to take any sort of conflict seriously, which makes it a good thing that she's friendly and tries to avoid arguments.
  • Abilities: Blanche is an old and powerful demon, not on the level of the demon princes but within the closest approximation when it comes to resilience. Without bringing to bear a weapon blessed by a saint, it's a good bet that she'll be getting up from whatever you try... and then flinging you through a wall for the inconvenience. She also has two more abilities, one from the whole reason she became a demon and the other from her method of dealing with trouble.
The first is that Blanche can effortlessly adopt a more adult form, which she's grown out of using except when it's necessary to look grown up. The second is rather more reflective of her personality: rapid but short-range teleportation. Whilst it's made things a lot easier for her, it has definitely forestalled any attempts at developing actual fighting skill.
  • Skills: After a thousand years, Blanche has become more or less the closest thing you can get to a perfect maid: she can cook, clean, repair things, help build, manage basic electronics and plumbing, garden, and handle animals. She's also a remarkably good singer and adept at working out when you're trying to overprice something.
  • Equipment: She has no equipment in particular of her own, except the second stuffed toy to be known as Mr. Bunny, but she does have access to a fancy house and funds on behalf of the Prince of Envy. Unnecessary spending is somewhat of a bad idea, given the owner.
  • Brief Backstory: When Archangel Lucifer fell, Blanche was simply a travelling pedlar's daughter, trailing her father through France. Something about her was enough to be affected by the drastic changes that swept the world and, much to her surprise, Blanche turned into a demon. The sudden alteration to her hair and eye colour was more than enough to, reasonably, alarm him. Being dragged before the church was rather unpleasant and, displaying un-childlike strength, she broke free of her restraints and ran.
It wasn't long before she met another demon in the area, one slightly younger than she was, and persisted in sticking around the generally grumpy girl. As persistent attempts to make friends go, it was a fairly good one: Blanche was stubbornly following someone who would later turn out to be one of the Princes of Hell. At the time, the girl simply seemed like an unusually strong demon and they had all reason to stick together against a very hostile world.
The Prince would later go on to acquire huge wealth and an enormous fancy house, so Blanche offered to help clean the place up--eventually growing into the role of nominal head maid whilst still having a close enough connection to the more powerful demon to not become just another employee. With such an avaricious friend, Blanche decided to be proactive when one of her residences became possibly at risk of sudden youth vandalism.
Besides, it's as good an excuse as any for looking to buy a present to celebrate a thousand years of friendship. They might even have suggestions the Prince hasn't yet realised exist.

  • Name: Yuina Fujioka
  • Age: 18
  • Gender: Female
  • Race: Futakuchi-onna
  • Appearance: Something like this.
  • Personality: A coquettish flirt who just loves to see people squirm, although don't let that fool you into thinking she's just some airheaded bimbo. Yuina's teasing is often focused in a way that makes people do what she wants, and she doesn't seem to have any moral problems with manipulating others. She's a bit conceited and arrogant too, really, and almost bursting with confidence. Despite all this, though, she sees herself as a fundamentally good person at heart, just... A bit more pragmatic than most, rationalizing that if you want to do good you sometimes have to learn to manipulate others.
  • Abilities: As a futakuchi-onna, Yuina's hair is prehensile and can be used to manipulate and grasp objects; it can also grow to twice its usual length whilst doing so, allowing her to utilize this ability in a roughly six foot radius. Most notable, however, is the main reason for why her hair can do this: to feed the large, fanged mouth that can open up from the back of her head. This mouth is almost eternally ravenous, and can seemingly eat and digest almost anything with no ill effects, although it shows a noted preference towards meat.
  • Skills: Other than her people skills, Yuina is fairly athletic (although hardly superhumanly so) and a rather good cook. Other than that, she's a pretty quick learner and can easily pick up new things if she really feels the need to.
  • Equipment: Nothing too fancy, she mostly just carries around a pretty up-to-date smartphone.
  • Brief Backstory: Despite being born in the Imaginary District, due to her youkai nature being easier to hide than most Yuina has spent a lot of time in the outside world as well. Aside from this, well... Her life's been relatively uneventful, really. A little boring even, which frustrates her a little. It got to the point that she ended up joining the Youth Organization almost solely to alleviate her boredom.

Yongzheng Huang

Age
23, 167, or 399, depending on frame of reference.

Gender
Male

Race/Species
Jiangshi

Profession
I.D.P.D, Detective

Appearance

The centuries have been kind to him, and he is gifted with the same body he had three days after his sudden death, unlike many other less-aware undead whose bodies and minds have rotten away. This is not to say, however, that he doesn't look dead. His face is masked by a deathly palor as is expected of the undead, and the blood pooled beneath his eyes makes him appear as though he hasn't slept in years (which he hasn't).

At 6'2", he is a fairly tall man of Han Chinese heritage, with the typical short and straight black hair. His irises are a deep chestnut, surrounded by scleras of red and yellow. Sunken cheeks highlight sharp and high cheekbones, and his chin appears so sharp that one might imagine they could impale a man upon it, were it not for the thin full beard standing in the way. He appears to be very thin for his height, and generally weighs approximately 165 pounds, though this fluctuates somewhat depending on his vitality at that moment.

He has only very rarely changed his outfits throughout the century and a half since his reanimation, as he has a significant attachment to the garments that he grew up with and died in. As a Ming police captain, he wears a dark grey yuanlingshan, trimmed in yellow and emblazoned with a Mandarin Square prominently featuring a bear upon a field of flowers. Sitting atop his head is a very, very old wushamao, with yellow lace bordering the very bottom of the hat.

One might note that his body doesn't move much, which he publicly blamed on severe early-onset arthritis before moving to the Imaginary District. One might also note that when in a hurry, his body still doesn't move much despite him bouncing from place to place like a man riding a rather uncooperative pogo stick. The truth of the matter is that he was merely unlucky enough to have stopped decomposing in the middle of the onset of rigor mortis.

His fingertips are tipped in short yet extremely sharp and clawlike nails.

Personality

Yongzheng is a relatively kind man with an unquenchable thirst for justice. His skills of observation and tracking have served him well throughout the years, and he can be counted on to remember any details that he has observed, smelled, or heard. He is an extremely reliable man, and very rarely forgets a promise - though he is realistic and avoids making promises that he cannot keep. He values his friends, family, and the government greatly, as he was raised in an era in which rulers were considered to have been placed there by the gods themselves. He is respectful toward those he believes to have a rightfully earned position above him, and does not actively seek to improve his own stature. He refuses to talk down to those he believes to be below himself, as they deserve his respect and support just as much as he deserves theirs.

That said, when speaking to those he considers his equals, he tends to be much more gruff and rough around the edges, as he allows his real personality to shine through. He is somewhat grumpy because of his inability to move as well as others and the constant pain of death, but beyond that, he is very well adjusted.

As a walking corpse, he is effectively incapable of feeling fear, save for the fears of failure and of collateral damage in the line of duty. He is calm and collected most of the time, but is easily irritated and almost as quick to anger.

He utterly despises thieves, muggers, burglars, bankers, brigands, and all other manners of violent criminals. He dislikes delinquents, but feels that it is his duty to set them straight.

His favorite food is justice the Italian style calzone, with crab legs coming in a close second. It makes him feel full like it would were he still entirely human, but it doesn't satisfy his hunger for sustenance of a more ethereal variety.

He dislikes being asked about his past and his experiences as a Jiangshi, and works himself to the bone to try to make up for his own crimes as a leech and abomination.

Abilities

Immortality and Regeneration:
He's already died once. He's not about to do it again. What would be mortal wounds for those of lesser fortitudes are but mere annoyances for him, though it is very possible to cripple him for some time before his body returns to its unnatural (and whole) state.

That being said, he may be permanently returned to death by having a stake made of the wood of a peach tree driven to his heart, being forced to ingest the blood of a black dog, having his breath stolen by another, or being burnt to ashes.

Objects of Chinese superstitious significance make him extraordinarily uncomfortable, as do mirrors (which he attributes to the shock of seeing his own corpse). Direct sunlight halts his regeneration and permits him to decay.

Undead Strength:
His muscles might be degraded, but they are imbued with the energy of both an excess of life and unlife. Under ordinary circumstances, his strength is merely slightly elevated by his status as an undead being, but immediately after gorging himself upon a massive feast of life energy, his strength is such that he may rip light posts, telephone poles, and some less well grounded trees out of the ground.

When he fails to feed, his strength slowly dwindles. As he found during his wandering after his reanimation, he is almost weaker than a common housecat when outside the presence of living humans for too long.

Undead Speed:
He may have a lot of time on his hands (claws?), but that doesn't mean he doesn't have places to be, sights to see, and criminal scum to catch. While his muscles are slow to act and generally very stiff, he leaps from point to point with the ease provided by a century and a half's worth of practice. Each bounce sends his planklike body flying a few meters, and after heavy feeding, this increases dramatically.

Energy Leeching:
His own vitality has a baseline - that of undeath, which alone isn't terribly great. That said, he is hungry constantly, and when well nourished, he feels almost as good as he did in life.

He does not need to touch his victims to steal their energy, but it very much helps. Much of his nourishment that brings him to his usual daily levels comes from passively draining miniscule amounts of energy from every person in the area - which, in this case, is the entirety of the Imaginary District. He prides himself on being one of the many driving forces behind the town's thriving coffee industry because of this.

Touching a living humanlike victim permits him to very rapidly drain their life energy for his own needs, but there are some limits in place. It is much easier to actively drain energy from a willing participant, and only as much as they are willing to give. Likewise, unwilling victims cannot easily be actively drained without genuine malicious intent on his part.

He cannot leech energy from creatures that did not originate from the material plane, such as angels, demons, and the like, as their life energy is incompatible with his own - and, as it should go without saying, he cannot leech life from the undead.

Undead Senses:
His body is coarsely tuned to hunt down the living for the purposes of draining their energy.

He is drawn towards the heat of living creatures, and can smell the species, age, health, and characteristics of most creatures simply by being in their immediate vicinity, assuming they're breathing. Lingering breath in the air helps him track others, and scents upon clothing and skin may draw him in as well, but not quite as well as active breathing. His vision is much less keen than it was during life, however, largely thanks to three days of low grade decay having blurred his eyes. His hearing is average.

Skills:

Investigation: A police captain in the Ministry of Justice under the Ming Dynasty in life, and a police officer in many cities and countries in death, his investigative skills are polished to a fine sheen. Solving mysteries is one of the greatest pleasures he can experience as a dead man, eclipsed only by the satisfaction of bringing criminal scum to justice.

Paperwork: Oh god, the paperwork. Every day was a nightmare of fine penmanship and report filing in life, and as such, he can concisely fill out reports that are easily understood by almost any employer. The invention of the Personal Computer only made this easier, and these days, he carries a laptop with him for the sole purpose of efficiently filing police reports. His immortal (and thus untrimmable) fingernails make using a touchscreen tablet impossible, unfortunately.

Art: Though extremely slow from the muscular degradation, his hand is steady. Working as a sketch artist has refined his hand somewhat, and he draws portraits and landscapes with ease, provided he has seen them or heard their description. Sadly, he isn't creative enough to draw purely from imagination.

Laundry: He is the king of keeping his clothing clean. It is extremely difficult for him to change outfits, and as such, it is important for every outfit to be kept immaculate. Stains, wrinkles, and the like disappear from him every time he enters a bathroom, and his methods for doing this are a very closely kept secret - even more secret than his status as a walking corpse had been previously.

Steady Aim: One of the few positives of living with rigor mortis - his aim is incredibly stable, and provided enough time to draw his pistol, he cannot miss his target unless the weapon itself or the wind throws the shot off course. Combined with his strength as an undead abomination, recoil doesn't seem to have any effect on him whatsoever, so long as he wields a reasonable weapon (and not, say, a .500 revolver).

Trilingual: He grew up speaking Mandarin Chinese in the early 17th century, and learned to fluently speak the English and Italian of the time during his regular encounters with foreigners. His accent is understandable, if unusual and clearly very old.

Equipment

One 8-inch Colt Python in blued steel - the weapon of choice for an undead detective.
One Blackjack - head of powdered lead coated in soft and durable leather, mounted on a spring.
One Extendable Baton.
Four pairs of Handcuffs.
Ziptie cuffs. Lots of them.
One police interceptor.
A badge.
A laptop.

Backstory

Yongzheng was born in Nanjing in 1617 to a relatively well-off merchant family. His parents were as wealthy as could be expected, and often traded what they considered worthless baubles to foreign visitors for hefty prices, garnering a reputation as shrewd salesmen in the process. Their wealth permitted them to hire a tutor for Yongzheng during much of his childhood, and though he wasn't the best student, he certainly wasn't the worst. He paid attention, unlike some other boys his age and status - particularly to philosophy, politics, and history, much to his parents' chagrin. Each successive year showed them more that he was not cut out to be a trader like they were, and they considered giving up on his education. His tutor, however, suggested to them that he might be cut out for a position as a public official, and they grumpily accepted that he would have a respectable future in that area.

Long lessons on mathematics, history, the known sciences, art, literature, and Confucius's Four Books and Five Classics filled his days until he turned seventeen, when he took the Imperial Exam, which he passed with flying colors. Dull flying colors, that is - his scores were good, but not good enough for a particularly high office, and he was put in the employ of the Ministry of Justice.

For six years, his work as a member of the police force gained him a reputation as a very good man to know, and as a very bad man to cross. Not because he was a particularly violent or angry person, but because he could be counted on to know everybody's business whether they had told him or not, which made it very, very easy for him to arrest most people in the community should he feel that he had been given just cause.

Sadly, he perished in the line of duty at the age of Twenty-Three in 1640, shortly before the fall of the Ming Dynasty. During an investigation of a series of murders, a great storm struck, and the serial murderer who had been regularly sending him death threats (which he ignored as a matter of policy) came to him as he walked his beat. His body was never found.

In 1849, his heart started beating again, and he found himself buried beneath several feet of mud and gravel beneath the Yangtze River. Thinking he had just been stabbed and buried alive, he panicked, and found himself miraculously able to swim through the dirt and water to the riverbanks - where he eventually learned of how much time had passed since his untimely death. He knew not why he had returned, but assumed it to have something to do with his unquenched thirst for justice. In reality, though, it was caused by an excess of good will toward him from his community in conjunction with a violent death and unfinished business - much more complicated and difficult to replicate.

After spending years as a hobo and traveler, he eventually learned the new order of the world and what had happened to his beloved country. Forging an identity permitted him to retake the Imperial Exam, which he passed with similar results to his first attempt over two hundred years prior, allowing him back into the police force to fight against the growing threat of the Opium trade.

Since his awakening, he has traveled throughout much of Europe, China, and the Americas, periodically moving from country to country every time his peers began to question his lack of aging. During his travels, he encountered others like himself, as well as a number of other abnormal creatures - and, indeed, he was misidentified as a vampire no fewer than three times, which resulted in him taking a wooden stake through the heart twice, and a bullet to the head once. Thankfully, the stakes were made of oak and birch respectively - and with each 'death', he arose once more several days later, albeit with a splitting headache and a maddening hunger that nearly drove him to kill the first person who came across him and tried to help.

More recently, he has moved to the Imaginary District, where he immediately joined the Police Department. His reasoning was that with a great number of supernatural beings in the city, the life energy present would be so great that he would never find himself hungry again - and, thus, he could continue his work without the greatest drawback of being a walking corpse - the tendency to go mad with hunger and lose control when deprived of energy.

  • Name: Aoyama Makiko
  • Age: 16
  • Gender: Female
  • Race: Human
  • Appearance: "There's no way you'll get away with this."(She wears a red scarf, as well).
  • Personality: A girl who takes herself seriously. Makiko founded the Miura Youth Organization because she truly believes that it's something that the children of the Imaginary District, human or otherwise, can do to help keep this peaceful. She is dedicated and serious about this purpose, but is not constantly stonefaced. She can, at times, loosen up. She's not unfriendly, but when she's trying to deal with something she can come off that way. For all her seriousness and attempts to keep herself focused, Makiko has a remarkably sharp temper that can come out in a fight. Hurting someone she cares about can make her fly into a murderous rage, even though she tries to restrain herself from killing unless it's absolutely necessary. Hurting innocent people will also deeply anger her. In the end, Makiko is simply very protective of the Imaginary District.
  • Abilities: Makiko is, technically, an onmyouji. However, her family does not focus on spellwork, instead incorporating the use of spells into swordplay. Makiko's affinity is for fire, and therefore she applies fire in a fight. Utilizing ofuda(including several built into her katana) she can produce different fiery effects, one an enormous serpentine coil cast up through an object, such as a sword, known as the Fire Dragon. Indeed, many of Makiko's spells take on a rather draconic theme. She has ofuda that buff her physically pinned on the inside of her clothing, including her school uniform. This allows her to run faster, use more strength, and take more dangerous hits.
  • Skills: Makiko is remarkably skilled in swordplay for someone of her age, due to her family's focus on the subject. She is a toxically bad cook, however. She's mildly athletic, but more agile then strong without the aid of her ofuda.
  • Equipment: Makiko wields Enryu, a sword of her family with ofuda used in its construction, placed inside the hilt. This hilt "bleeds" mana when active, typically colored red. The blade trails flames and can project fire and even expand itself with fire. At its highest output level, Enryu trails butterflies made of fire. This is a state she has not yet accessed. Makiko carries paper slips on her to make ofuda, and pins several inside her clothing to buff herself.
  • Brief Backstory: Makiko was born into an onmyouji family that has been dwelling in the Imaginary District ever since its inception. As a child, she was swiftly trained in both onmyodo and in swordplay, to hone her abilities as a child of the Aoyama family. Through it all, while her training was harsh, her family treated her warmly. At only eight years old, however, she watched her father die at the hands of a long-possessed man, inhabited by a formless youkai without thought or intent, simply with mindless violence and endless power. The possessed man was destroyed in the process, and in the years after recovering from the death of her father, Makiko chose to take a stance. She did not wish for the Imaginary District to suffer something like that again. She didn't want anyone else to lose their parents. Working with the police department, given that she was a member of a well-respected onmyouji family, she devised the Miura Youth Organization only a year ago, a place for those her age to meet one another, socialize, and help keep the Imaginary District safe.

Name: Kaminari Hotaru
Nicknames: The Firefly Maiden, firefly, Lady Hotaru (by her familiars)
Age: 16
Gender: female
Race: onmyoji
Appearance: "I'm not much..."
Personality: Hotaru is a quiet person. She isn't a fan of social interaction, because she has poor conversational skills and is afraid of scaring people away. She is a real softy, but due to her antisocial demeanor people mark her as cold and mean without attempting to meet her. Hotaru hates to see people upset or hurt, and always helps those who need it. However, she still avoids any form of relationship out of fear of getting attached.
Abilities:

Skills: Hotaru has incredible magical abilities, being able to control blessed fire rather than just the usual Wu Xing element. She plays the flute beautifully, and has the ability to sense evil.
Weaknesses: She is not physically strong and often comes down with fevers because her magic is too much for her weak physical body to contain. She cannot fight in close combat and can only summon two familiars at a time. Though she can sense evil, it suffocates her and can make her faint if she's surrounded by it for too long.
Equipment:
Heaven's Note her blessed flute. It increases her spell potency, range, and accuracy. Only the owner can play it, and anyone who hears the notes will be under the spell. The flute will become unbearably hot if anyone else tries to play it but Hotaru.
  • Song of Healing: can slowly heal allies in the area
  • Song of Protection: creates a barrier against evil around allies in immediate area. Makes people inside feel safe.
  • Song of Purity Wards off evil and purifies area around her. Used mostly to clear large miasma.
  • Song of Spirits: summons Will O' the Wisps to do errands such as search for a missing person.
  • Song of Fire: summons golden flames that are blessed to attack with.

Brief Backstory: Her father was an onmyoji who fell in love with her mother, a priestess. He died saving the mother, pregnant with Hotaru, from a wild yokai. Her mother raised her but soon left after her fifteenth birthday, telling Hotaru that she must learn to take care of herself. She left Hotaru with the shrine and it's guardian, Inugami, as well as a shikigami egg that Hotaru raised to later hatch Juju. Inugami caught Nure trying to attack Hotaru in her sleep, and the snake demon asked to become her familiar. Hotaru agreed, much to Inugami's dismay, and now the two constantly argue over their Lady.

✨Harumi Shizuka✨

✨Name: Harumi Shizuka.
✨Age: 16 years.
✨Gender: Female.
✨Race: Human.

✨Appearance: Harumi is around 156 centimeters tall, with an average silhouette for a girl of her age with nothing in either excess or lack. Her long dark hair and blue eyes that seem to sparkle with an inner light are the Harumi's most eye catching features. Harumi's own personal mark is the hair bow that she wears on pretty much any occasion, and cherishes like an invaluable treasure. It's almost impossible to see her wearing anything other than her school uniform however, they seem to take a rather whimsical form when she's using her powers. One could say that it's almost like a magical girl's transformation, but that would be stupid... right?

✨Personality: Current Harumi is a simple, some would say... happy go lucky, or even daydreamer girl, a stark contrast to her old brooding self. Above all, Harumi likes to meet new people and know new places, taking like as a ride on a bullet train. Everyday is a new adventure, every person a potential source of amusement. Harumi is like a ten gigawatts light bulb, you either like her, or you turn away because she's too bright.

The one thing that can make Harumi stop are aliens, not any made up stories coming from random youkai, demons and other supernatural but still mundane beings. The girl would actually do pretty much anything to meet and befriend a bonafide visitor from beyond the stars.

✨Abilities: Affinity: Space.

Harumi's magic is called "Starlight Manipulation", she can use it to produce starlight that can be shot as beams, magical binds and other creative uses. To cast it, Harumi has to recite a short verse describing whatever celestial object she's drawing power upon, like "Shining in the sky, twin sparkles companions of one another, Spica!" She can do this for entire constellations, but the more powerful the spell, the longer she needs to do it (Zodiacs are particularly nasty to do, but totally worth it if she does). Harumi tends to improvise said incantations, so it's unlikely that she'll do the same one more than once for the bigger constellations.

Aside from her magic, Harumi was also born with a Magic Trait called Boundary Layer, a derivative of her affinity for the otherworldly, it allows Harumi to interact with all kinds of boundaries, real or imaginary. She can at the very least "touch" and see any kind of boundary. Currently her uses for such power limit to perceiving invisible things and interacting with usually intangible and formless object. Effectively this makes Harumi a decent medium and exorcist without the need to rely on religious based magic, like Onmyoudo and Church rituals.

✨Skills: Outside the skills that any mage or school student of her age would have, Harumi has no special training whatsoever. Like she would have time for that... Well, actually she know a bit of self defense and is a pretty good swimmer, but nothing of this would help her against supernatural threats. Aside from that, Harumi is also very knowledgeable about Astronomy and the Physics required to understand it in first place, to the point that she's able to name all the most important stars of the sky from memory alone.

✨Equipment: Likewise, Harumi has nothing that a student shouldn't have, her most prized possessions being a brand new smartphone with a few star charms attached to it and a telescope that she got on her last birthday. Harumi has actually being working on ways of magically enhancing this last one, to help on her search for extraterrestrial life.

✨Brief Backstory: Little is known about Harumi's past from the previous four years. It's presumed that she had quite a terrible life and was completely unaware of the existence of magic and supernatural stuff. It all changed when she was saved from an attack by an enraged youkai that had lost its sanity, by a reclusive mage that saw Harumi's hidden potential and took the girl under her wing. Now, after being properly trained and developing her own style of doing things, Harumi is working her proxy for her master, paying up for the lessons she receives by serving as the main agent of their supernatural detective agency.

There's just one thing out of order, or better huge quirk with Harumi. Somehow, she developed a fixation with aliens (the real deal, not fakes) and, no matter what people tell her about it, Harumi swears that not only they exist, but that she'll find them and become their friend. Once could say that she literally has her head on the stars. However, not all of this obsession is bad as ushered Harumi to join the Astronomy club of her school and become quite knowledgeable about the subject. She has been scouted to join the MYO, because youthful spirit is pretty much the best way to describe Harumi as a person.

Nao Hirasawa

Age
17

Gender
Female

Race
Oni

Height
160 cm 5.2 ft

Abilities

Increased strength- Nao's strength is far superior than most humans since she is an oni making it useful for her to fight with brutal weapons rather than slicing weapons.
Increased endurance- She can go on for longer.
Increased durability- Nao is less affected by any kind of blows making it able to make her go on for longer.
Increased agility- Her speed and whole body in general is faster.
Rage- When Nao uses her powers her horn will be shown on her head indicating that she uses the power of her horn. Her behaviour turns more beast like, her pupils get smaller and her breath gets warmer making it able to see her breathing around her mouth as her heart rate rises. When she goes into rage her strength and speed increases immensely. Furthermore her pain will be suppressed by a large amount during her rage mode. When she gets too into it and doesn't concentrate enough she can lose herself in combat and go rampant without being able to get herself back out of it. A good knock on her horn would get her back to herself again.

Skills

Nao is familiar with householding chores and knows how to do them but she is more focused on the cooking aspect of it. She enjoys gardening and making things with flowers. She grows some vegetables but not a whole ton since they require a huge amount of her time. Qua combat she is more orientated on blunt heavy weapons that come with a lot of impact but she doesn't mind using dual sword either. Her general weapon handling knowledge is the hammer and the morningstar.

Equipment

-Handkerchief
-Combat knife around her upper leg
-Morningstar she always tries to have them close by just like her dual blades
-Dual blades

Personality

She is a girl that is decently shy around new people, she rather minds her own business than getting involved in some mess she doesn't want to be, that is why it takes some time to get her to really befriend someone. When you are past that barrier she opens up a bunch and shows love and care towards the ones she loves. She helps them as much as she can even if it would cost her something. Nao is always careful with speaking and tries to be as polite as possible not to offend anyone. In combat she can get really focused on her goals but sometimes it all disappears in a flash making her go rampant giving her a complete different personality. She can't see the difference between friends and foes making it dangerous to be near her at that point in time. It is easy to flutter her but she tries to brush it off like it didn't happen to not make herself as embarrassed.

Background

Nao was born and raised as an Oni, she was born as an twin, with twin oni's the horn get split up so each oni has a horn. The horn of the oni gives them their extra powers so they aren't like ordinary humans. During birth 2 times the energy is passed down to both the twins making them as strong as any normal oni. Normally it would be shared fair and square but not with Nao, about three quarters of her true power went to her sister at birth making the girl have a lot less power than any normal oni would have. She is still enormously strong but is no competition in an oni to oni fight. Oni's are still strong however so seen in human eyes she is pretty strong but seen in the eyes of an oni she might be seen as really weak. At an old enough age she left the village together with her sister. Her sister had settled down somewhere with a proper job and a fair income while Nao joined the Miura Youth Organization where she could happily do her own thing while searching for happiness with perhaps someone that loved her just as dear as she did to that person. She is seen wearing a maid costume a lot since she doesn't want to get her own clothes dirty by doing work and the likes around the club

Name: Akio Haritama
Age: 16
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Appearance:

Personality: Akio doesn’t care for school, but absolutely loves learning. In his free time, he’s either watching T.V, reading, or running. He reads a lot of classical fiction, and is one of those weirdos who actually likes documentaries. He enjoys thinking about the nature of the world, and is planning on moving on to study philosophy in college.
Abilities:
Magical Trait -Creation: He can create items from nothing, be it a block of stone to a blade. Things can only materialize right in from of him, within an arm’s length, and the more complex the item, the harder and longer it takes to synthesize it. In order to make something, he needs to have an idea of it's layout and design. For instance, it'd be easy for him to create a hunk of rock, and could probably make it in a span of around five seconds, but it'd be near impossible for him to make a gun, as he doesn't understand the component parts and how it works.
Affinity- Electricity: He has an affinity for electricity based magic, such as lightning summoning, or channeling electricity through his weapon.
Magic potential: Being a mage, he can potentially cast any spell, but those have to be learned and studied as opposed to his affinity, which is much more inborn.
Skills: He’s good at logical thought and puzzle solving, and is in decent shape. Outside of that, he doesn’t anything particularly special about him.
Equipment: He normally has a book on him, along with his phone.
Brief Backstory: He was adopted by an upper class family at the age of two, so he doesn’t remember much of any kind of life outside his adoptive parents. Akio started off attending a private school, but soon his parents realized that he didn’t care for the formality that that entailed, and after the first grade was sent into the public school system. He found that to be much more relaxed, even if it still wasn’t something he enjoyed.

High school’s going fine for Akio, but it’s also boring. Not much goes on for him, and even though he’s by no means a perfect student, he’s in the top ten percent of his class. He study’s what he wants, and learns about things that interest him. He hasn't made many friends in High School, and he doesn't feel particularly close to anybody, but he's hardly feels lonely.

Stands at 5'10", moderately built. Has a gaping hole that roughly encompasses half of his heart and his left lung.

Name: Styx (Ken Sato)

Age: Nineteen (Seventeen upon death)

Gender: Male

Race: Ankou

Personality: A man of many words destined to be heard, albeit he isn't the one who is doing the talking per se, that still doesn't let the undead's mind run amok. With a threshold for insanity and hardship, Styx never fails to provide a rational voice, especially in disputes. Though he can lose himself to his temper, escorting soul after soul kind of whittle's at ones mind over time. Let it be known that he is by no means an altruist. Though you may have joined the organization, he's the one to bring down judgement based upon the facts alone. One apparent inhibition is his tie, or rather lack thereof to his past. He doesn't feel incomplete without knowing his origins, but it still gnaws at his neck to no end. When it comes to helping spirits beyond, he shows an uncharacteristically compassionate side, his way of honoring those who are, in a sense, free.

Abilities:

  • 21 Grams - Styx is able to tell the moral alignment of a soul, good and devilish intentions entailed. It's not a lie-detector to be precise, but he can get a fair grasp on whether somebody is going to go down a grim path.
  • Deathbound - Since the components comprising Styx's soul are no longer here, the only remaining thing on the physical plane is a body with a perfectly pristine conscience. Essentially Styx cannot die, but that's not to say he's invincible. He still experiences pain like every normal individual- (normal being a term painfully misconstrued and all-encompassing at this juncture), but say if his body was to be eviscerated into millions of little shreds, they would gather sluggishly over an extended period of time.
  • Salvation - This ties directly with his purpose as an Ankou. Styx is able to escort consciousnesses with... expired vessels to the world beyond through incantations, and should the issue arise, brute force. Only applicable when a being's hourglass has run out of sand.
  • Fiend Friend - Styx can call upon residual life essence and fuse them into a temporary familiar. Since the summon is an amalgamation of multiple beings, its appearance is random and usually grotesque. However the familiar itself doesn't share any of the abilities of its long-passed donors, it can still give somebody a hard time and serve as a viable meat puppet.
  • Shadow Haze = Variation - Styx can distort his shape and move as a cloud of dark mist. He can't attack or scale any buildings in this state, but is quite stealthy and can move through shadow practically unnoticed.

Skills:

  • Scythe Wielding - What henchman of Big Daddy Death himself would be complete without a complimentary scythe? The weapon is more iconic than it is useful, since it is only utilized as a last resort when verbal chants fall short. Still, since Styx is a relatively veteran Ankou, he's had enough encounters to learn how to defend himself.
  • Straight Man - In a district chock full of insanity this actually is a legitimate skill, despite how painfully true it may be. Hell, the playwright didn't even make this stock character crucial enough. Commonly as the sole voice of reason, Styx is constantly tempted to let his temper take over, but retains an aplomb demeanor as best as he can.
  • Tolerance - Sending souls to the world beyond isn't as all cut out as it is made to be. Sometimes, people still have lingering ties or wishes, but Styx has to maintain a threshold and leave them unfulfilled regardless. When morale is in low reserves, Styx is the unsung hero when it comes to bringing it back up.
  • Sans Sustenance - Styx isn't bound by the necessity for self-sustaining resources. He doesn't need to eat, but he can still do so and promptly expel waste.

Equipment:

  • Scythe - Swish, swish, slice. Can be summoned from any part of his body.
  • Mizar and Alcor - His two faithful companions. Mizar and Alcor are orbs of light pigmented blue and red respectively who serve as his assistants. Additionally, Styx also speaks vicariously through one of the two, since his tongue is reserved solely for his job. It's believed that the two companions are souls relegated to serving Styx, but since they too have no prior memories, they hold no qualms with their positions. The two are stupendously upbeat and have the same level of speech as children

Backstory:
Ken Sato died holding his girlfriend's hand... Wait, no, that wasn't it. He died clutching the iron bar sticking through his chest- crap, that doesn't sound right either. Oh yeah, he spent his final moments digging his fingers into the blood-stained January snow! That was i- wait, damn, not that one either.

If it isn't already apparent, Styx has absolutely no recollection of his life before he became an Ankou. Ken Sato died a youth who had accomplished absolutely nothing in life and thus didn't leave a single niche in the world's history. But that's not uncommon or anything, right? The phenomenon known as Ankou occurs primarily during New Year's Day. People are celebrating, spending time with loved ones, rejoicing in yet another 365 days of being human. Jubilation is at an all-time high. And we all know with jubilation comes irrational choices, like setting out on the road whilst under the influence of alcohol, leaving your job early without going through all of the wrap-up procedures, taking our other half to a construction site littered with KEEP OUT signs. Y'know, stupid stuff like that made by stupid people. And sometimes people kick the can.

The Ankou is- or rather, are of a rather elusive variety, both in spirit and history. The phenomenon itself revolves around the first death of the year, which is why New Year's Day is essentially the prime time for harvesting. Some believe that the original Ankou was the first child of Adam and Eve, others believe that he was a prince who challenged death himself, and as a consequence of losing was cursed to roam the earth as a ghoul forever. But in all actuality, the predominant policy is the one pertaining to deaths, except that it is on a regional basis, so there are actually multiple Ankou collecting consciousnesses. Gotta maximize productivity, right? The Ankou have unanimously agreed that it was Death who gave them the purpose of assisting those to whatever lies beyond the veil. Yet they do not know for sure who presides over them, or if a sole entity even exists to boot. The only truth the Ankou know is the integrated drive to help consciousnesses pass on.

One is an Ankou for exactly a year's time, afterwards they are granted the privilege of finally passing on themselves. But there's a little addendum that isn't public knowledge. It's voluntary. Though this choice only resonates with the minority, if an Ankou still wishes to continue operations as self-appointed henchman of Death then it may do so until the next year, where it will be presented with the same offer.

Styx is of the minority, and a two term Ankou at that. Though the Ankou serve as the middle ground between people and death, they haven't the slightest clue where they dismiss souls to. And the prospect of potentially winding up in eternal purgatory didn't sound to alluring to him. Even though he lacked a soul he felt plenty alive in his current state, so why ruin a perfectly content life?

And then came the Imaginary District. Holee sheet. Ever tried to put a Tengu to rest? Ever tried to put a Tengu to rest without its consciousness still beating the daylights out of you? No? Well, good. It's not exactly a fulfilling experience. Styx was the lucky Ankou to be transferred to the Imaginary District, and with his new surroundings came a myriad of even newer variables. So not only does he have to pacify multi-faceted human souls, but also those of the many diversified yokai dwelling within the region. You know Burabura's? Those things actually expire at some point! Ever tried listening to the last wishes of a lantern? No? Well, good.

Recently Styx has joined the scant numbers of the Miura Youth Organization, and with his entrance came a whole slew of additional duties. He isn't exactly a part time worker, but he is known to prioritize the purpose of his existence. Juggling the two professions has honed his foresight, so the Ankou sets out his agenda in advance. Which... is kinda hard when it comes to collecting souls.

[Real Name]

[Fake Name]

• Age: 348 [22-29 Human Age, visual estimate]
• Gender: Female
• Race: Kitsune
• Appearance: [{X}] [Three-tailed]

• Personality:
Most would not even get close to Setsura before discerning her personality. As a fox spirit, she used to be very mischievous and could sometimes even be malicious albeit rarely. She mostly seeks to tease other people and have fun with the misfortune of others, but not to the extent of where it might hurt them more than needed.
As an old spirit these days, she has outgrown most of the mischievous habits of her youth. But every now and then she might prank someone or play tricks on them, just for the sake of doing so.
However she is still somewhat hard to read, nor is it any easier just to get to know her. She shrugs off most intrusive or prying questions away by somehow changing either the topic, or replying in a way that is very difficult to decipher/understand. She even uses a fake name to live around different places, rather than using her actual name. While she's not afraid of anyone actually knowing her given name, she'd rather keep it to herself if at all possible.

• Abilities:

Foxfire
- The main and single direct offensive ability that Setsura ever uses. She spends mana to spawn light blue balls of fire, either from the tip of her tails or her mouth, which she can then direct and move in whatever way she pleases. Sometimes she’s even managed to go so far as to cover all her tails in foxfire. Multiple tails covered in blue spirit fire is a lot more dangerous than you’d think when swung mercilessly at their enemy/opponent.
They also tend to burn and hurt a lot more than the average mana-spawned fire. But otherwise they don’t have any particularly deviating properties when compared to each other.

Illusionist
- If the situation calls for it, Setsura can focus all her mana to spawn a very realistic “illusion”. While this can be almost anything, depending on the amount of mana spent, she renders herself immobile and/or very vulnerable when using it. So it is normally best used while in cover or hidden out of plain sight. However, the illusion itself is very real, and so is its power. It should never be underestimated. This can range between a battle-oriented humanoid illusion, which can fight back, or maybe even a room-wide illusion, meant to confuse and disorient the opponent.

• Skills:

Fleet of Foot
- Versed in the act of maneuvering through multitudes of terrain and landscapes, Setsura can almost effortlessly travel through a multitude of landscapes. This doesn’t have as much of an efficient use in combat, but it helps in dire situations as well.

Deceiver
- A sly tongue and years upon years of living have made Setsura quite capable of hiding her true intentions from prying eyes and ears, whether they’re bad or good.

Ancient
- Agility and a quick tongue aren’t all she’s evolved over the years. Even her own magic power has grown large over the tremendous span of time. She is very capable of using said power for a variety of purposes, but tends to frequent a lot of certain ones.

• Equipment: While Setsura doesn’t carry any real equipment on her, she frequently prefers to wear either a kimono, a cheongsam, or otherwise fancy wear for upper class women. Much like the old times.

• Brief Backstory: A fox spirit born in the wilds, Setsura found herself into the human community some years after having wandered solely on instinct, not too soon after her inception. The memories of any kind of family of hers are far behind her, as she seems to either have trouble recalling any memories or is actively staying quiet about it. Now she simply wanders around the Imaginary District, a new place she’s begun to call home after wandering for so long.
