Low-to-mid is generally easier to balance than higher tiers, but still leaves enough room for creativity. More grounded, with less additional factors to account for. Thusly it is so far my personal preference, especially when it comes to competition.

It depends on the person and character used, for me at least. I prefer to MOSTLY start off by just matching who I fight with the character I use and gradually, usually second (though that means USUALLY taking a beating) go up in the fight to continue matching. Theres no fun or sport in going all out unless like, in a scenario or 'Dis the boss fight' type ordeal.

I tend to prefer mid tier, right below what TZDL is, but I do thoroughly enjoy higher mid tier. TZDL isn't quite high tier as the scheduling system does ban things (at the very least S2 wouldn't be banned in high tier) but it grazes that level and creates a really cool fighting atmosphere.

@Vordak My defintion/understanding of the tiers is different from most, mainly because the community I hail from focused more on Character Types rather than an actual defined tier system.

For me, Low Tier is essentially the closest you'll get to realism;
-Humans ONLY.
-No Fantasy Elements of any kind.
-Tech can range from Medieval Era to Modern Day.

Meanwhile, Mid Tier encompassed the wide range of Fantasy and Sci-Fi Elements, though with certain restrictions in place;
-The use of WMDs is strictly forbidden.
-Cosmic/Reality/Dimensional Manipulation are not permissible. (Altering a planet's gravitational field, throwing worlds out of whack, collapsing a universe, hiding within pseudo space, etc.)
-God Type characters are NOT allowed. (Immortal, Omnipotent, All-Powerful, etc.)

High Tier stuff was reserved for either A) screwing around and going super crazy with your creativity and B) story related purposes that either didn't actually endanger the characters of unwilling players or in situations where players involved had given prior consent.

Cause I mean let's face it, the minute you open the door and allow stuff like "Magic" (Which in itself is a VERY broad category) or Sci-Fi aspects, you can't really cherry pick. That was essentially the mentality back then. We can't deny one thing while simultaneously permitting another cause then you enter the realm of potential bias. The job of the player is to take a concept and translate that into RP terms. And typically everything was acceptable so long as everyone recognized that just because you can do something doesn't mean your opponent can't resist.

No Power Gaming for us was essentially where one player can't assume/behave like their character is automatically superior to all other characters. So like in the event two "Strong" characters fight one another, you can't just assume that you are somehow stronger. You can't pull a DBZ and raise your power level to assert dominance. And because things like Speed and Strength are relative concepts, people can have different scales for said attributes. So the rule of thumb there is simply "No Power Gaming", do not assume everyone is using YOUR scale of power.

But like I said, that was just my community. We were very open minded about this sort of stuff and it was highly encouraged players explore their creativity.

Which is why I'm saying even though those might be your preferences, its always good to step outside your comfort zone in that sense. Because in doing so you expand your own horizon and that experience can and will make you a stronger player in the long run.

@Metal Tortoise Honestly, you might have just been better off using the movie version, if all you were wanting was a kickass machine type character. Cause I mean, Ultron in the movie wasn't THAT bad. He made a lot of mistakes but it was just a movie, the guy was fated to lose regardless.

To me again, it depends on the players and chars used. I'm in favor of the scaling method 'cus its just...you can go from simple melee to jumping football fields at each other to beyond and it can be fun.

Nah, I've played/Liked Ultron since even before the movie. I can respect what they did with him, I like most of it, even if I havent seen the movie BUT comic Ultron is best Ultron.

No point arguing it. If the GM has denied it, then it's denied. Doesn't fit into the role play. Either make a different character, or move on. GM has final say. Period.

Hey, all, so here's a thought. Just bear with me now. How about, if you're not the player of the character in question or involved in running the tournament, you butt the hell out and not get involved in other people's business? Cuz if ya do, you're just being a dick troll. And nobody likes a dick troll.

The Luchalliance frowns on this vociferous dick trollery. As a wise man in a shell was once known to say, such matters should be settled on the field of honor, not in the sewers of OOC argumentation.

To Metal Tortoise, I offer a bargain. Desist in this backbiting and stand by your words. La Maquina has been judged a fair and acceptable contender for this contest. As one android to another - prove your metal. Defeat La Maquina in a battle judged true and fairly fought by our fellows, thereby demonstrating both your skill in the ring and the restraint you profess to practice with your choice of character, and I will yield La Maquina's position to you. Fail to defeat her, or resort to uncouth methods in your quest to do so, and know the shame of the unmasked pretender.

Show us all Ultron's power and your ability to harness it in glorious competition. Prepare for #LUCHAGAMES

Or we could just end all this dickery and tomfoolery with one simple statement....

Asked* not Arsed*; Relatively sure that it was a typo not an actual insult...so calm your tits. Your disagreement is noted and will be dealt with by the Judges and Tournament Host in due time (Probably around 4-5'oclock EST). In the meantime, The ruling as follows was not an exclusion from the tournament but instead, the request that you submit an opposite character from what you had originally intended to submit. If this is not adequate, than I don't know what to tell you.

As for everyone else responding to the issue; Please be aware, there is a reason we have four judges - as such they should be the only ones responding to this issue (Although I do thank everyone who was trying to offer help versus insult). I'm neither of these things, I'm merely posting from the perspective of a Normal TZDL Competitor as to how I'm used to things being handled. This will be addressed as soon as it can be and of course I merely ask patience in this regard.

Thank you for your consideration of the Tournament @Metal Tortise

My characters.

They are high tier characters for a roleplay I have. I prefer to use high tier characters to test some things out.

Whooooaaaaaah there.

One character at a time, submitted in the "Characters" tab, not in here. As well, you may want to check out the tournament's rules and select the best-fitting character. We've sort of just gotten through one character argument already.

Skimming them over. Given their general power scaling what are the stipulations I might need to know? And or the chances of them being accepted.
