@POOHEAD189 It's not just a bias rhetoric. Not only have these shows plainly lied about their hosts political opponents but the very design of the segments themselves is highly manipulative on a psychological level. Whether its by choice of the hosts, the producers, or the broadcasters can be debated but frankly it doesn't matter. Shows like John Oliver's are attempts at social engineering, a practice that has almost six decades of experience by now. I'm not particularly qualified for explaining the psychological aspects of the shows, but you can read up on the subject by searching something along the lines of "media literacy" or you can read some of the works by Noam Chomsky.

I did read the rest of your post and looked at the link, but this was my query. So you have seen John Oliver give straight lies and false information?

Ok so I have listened to your links. The first youtube video wasn't factually correct. Nigel Farrage was completely onboard with that false claim and I believe he did quote it, and even if he didn't, he did not correct it and was a head this movement.

The 2nd one is much more informative, and much more correct. Though he's saying what I was asking you, which is he presents info that gives a bias, but that doesn't necessarily mean he gives false information. My question was that. I know he gives information that is leftist, I wasn't arguing that. And if I hear him make a claim based on his opinions or an analogy I don't agree with, I don't blindly follow it. He does do a form of manipulation. But for someone not totally ingrained into it, it's easy to see and you can still learn from a few things he gives out.

I was always baffled by the fact people would willingly subject themselves to what appears to be overt conditioning as a form of "entertainment". It is not even subtle that these shows have paid agendas they are trying to front. Admittedly their style is not to my taste, neither is their content or rhetoric, but their intent is not even hidden; it is blatantly dishonest. Worse yet, the part that scares me, is that people reference them as some sort of authority, especially on the same level of the already compromised media outlets.

I like John Oliver as a comedian, personally, but I don’t disagree with what you and Digi are inferring here. That 4chan post was actually a little interesting from my perspective. I’ll still watch Oliver’s show and will likely still find it entertaining, but it does allow to look at it from a different angle. But I don’t get my news from comedians nor do I give comedians authority as pundits unlike some of my peers.

It seems rather unlikely that comedy is a hollywood conspiracy to keep Americans from voting Republican. John Oliver isn't a puppet of the Jewish oligarchy and Bilderburgers and Area 51 and Beverly Hills 90210, he's a dude selling a product. Left-wing political comedy has been hot since Jon Stewart took over the Daily Show. That shit sells. Modern Punditry and political comedy is driven by the market, not so much by the man. Because people want to watch shit that meshes with their world view, the market sells our own world view back to us. So that it isn't the man behind the curtain brainwashing us, it's us brainwashing us.

Also we were talking about sapiosexuality, its the new thing that I think is stupid (not quite as stupid as libertarian-ism).

I tried to discuss it before but due to someone in this thread having a crush on someone else, all criticism of the term was labelled as trolling. So maybe you can offer a less offensive milquetoast perspective.
