With the time for breakfast passing and the afternoon slowly breaking in, students began crawling out of their stupor to enjoy the morning sun, or at the very least do anything other than be cooped up in their dorms all day - well, some of them anyway. There were plenty enough students that reverted to experimenting in the relative privacy of their rooms. Such students generally never left their rooms at all.

In any case, with the pick up in activity, facilities across the campus threw their shutters open, ready for business. The campus was soon bustling with traffic as students came from everywhere to do business. They made their way across various modes of transportation - students blinking in and out of existence at different spots, others riding on a giant three headed gila monster; others made their way across the skies on magic brooms, carpets, and a flaming motorcycle that was promptly shot out of the sky by an irate student for being to loud for their sensibilities. Many things happened after that, but it's irrelevant for narrative purposes.

With that being said, the center of activity were the administrative buildings, which had begun posting the list of available classes for the next three months, as well as openings for field trips. As of yet, there were no posts for quests, which was to be expected given how early in the year it was.

William Ascot

William blinks at Zane and asked, "What did you do to Xinhua and why did you do it? Don't you know that angering her is not a wise or smart decision?" He then turned to the Chinese Mage and said, "Senior Xinhua, what exactly did this Blacksmith," he meant Zane, "Do that requires an apology? If so, I'll try my best to get it from him, if only so that the trip we're planning -"

Then an idea came to him. "We're planning a trip to the forest; it can be legal if you join me and Zane in requesting an official field trip. The trip to the forest is to gain materials for forging a duplicate of the Western Sword Excalibur, a duplicate which can be granted the powers of the original through my blood. If you would join us, it would be an honor, especially as it would all be within the rules of you come with our fellowship."

He smelled fried egg; his stomach rumbled, and William then said, "Oh! By the way, I haven't eaten."

The nineteen-year old turned to Zane, but did not point out that the young man also smelled of fried egg and cooking oil; he got an inking of what he did to Xinhua now and was tactful enough not to remind the latter of it by speaking of it. Nevertheless, Zane might see a knowing look in William's eyes, a look that said, 'Give me a bite to eat or I will make sure Xinhua bites you.'

Then turning to Mr. 'Would-be-handsome-without-makeup', William then asks, "So, what's your name? Mine is William Ascot; my power is Story Magic."

Zane was currently internally cursing in every language he knew. Considering his master was a slavedriver strict when it came to that, he had a large repetoire to pick from. Ancient Egyptian in particular had many, many, curses as any tomb robber archaeologist could tell you. Seriously, what sick bastard would come up with a curse to skin a person while forcing them to be awake for the entire process? What were we talking about? Oh right, this situation. Entirely Will's fault, the guy is so fun... especially when watching him get shot down. It's hilarious, especially when he leads with "Hey babe, you want to see my magic sword?". Priceless.

Turning back to Nulong, Zane would be the first to admit she was definitely attractive. Especially when she was potentially going to (attempt) to kill him. What can he say, he's attracted to violent vixens. Tis a shame Freya prefers lilies.
Giving his infuriating bastard smirk (coined by one Freya Royle), he replied in the only way he knew how. Shameless flirting.

"My apologies, fairest maiden of the east, but the little flower seems to wilt in the presence of many. It would be a crime to the world to let such beauty never reach maturity so I took matters into my own hands. {Might this humble peasent repay the Maiden of the Winds with dinner?}" The last phrase was spoken in passable Chinese.

Damien had gone through the rest of his juul pod during the time they were idly standing there and talking. He chided himself once again for going through his pods so quickly. Of course he had another one, mint flavored, in his pocket. He fished it out and resumed vaping once more. A trip to the store might be in order soon.

Back to the present, Damien had almost forgotten what he was doing out here in the first place. He would've left everyone to chat amongst themselves except for the fact that he couldn't think of anything better to do. That, and the uncomfortable realization that he would be alone, made him quickly push the thought of leaving out of his head. At least here he felt like he had company.

Then suddenly, Nulong, as he believed she briefly introduced herself as before being promptly plastered in the face with an egg, came up behind Zane. Now, Damien didn't know Nulong very well, but he could bet that she was probably here to exact some sort of vengeance for what happened earlier. She had an intimidating demeanor about her and Damien took a small step back - he wasn't getting entangled in this.

Turning his attention to the black haired guy, who introduced himself as William, Damien's eyebrows arched slightly, "Story magic?" A wry smile spread across his face, "I never knew being an author was a branch of magic. Let me guess, J.K Rowling goes here too."

As more of an afterthought, Damien decided to introduce himself as well, "Oh yeah, my name's Damien. It's a pleasure meeting you, William, but is there any way we can speed this whole process up?" He waved his hand around, "I thought we'd be at the forest by now."

Xinhua at first stared. Whoever this Zane was, she had to admit, he was both perplexing, and had audacity to match even the most outrageous of hermits. She was used to others supplicating themselves to her, she was used to others attempting to woo her, but never had she encountered someone with the temerity to try both in the same breath - much less after doing her what might have been a great insult to many!

Even more audaciously, he claimed to have done so for the sake of their other roommate, the shy one who's name she had already forgotten. Apparently he found Xinhua's intimidation of her a crime, and so took matters into his own hands, though it appeared they were clumsy hands indeed.

The dragon priestess actually laughed. How interesting!

"Very well," she said after she had gotten in control of her mirth, "Seven PM tonight, in wherever you see fit. I am rather interested in seeing your attempts in earning my affection. I must warn you though," she added, her smile going slightly predatory for good measure, "that I hate being disappointed. The consequences for earning my wrath twice over are terrible indeed."

Her piece being said, she turned to his other companions. "I wish you the best of luck, however I have business to attend to at the moment, not to mention," a sly glance at Zane, "a date to prepare for. Good day, friends."

Turning back, Xinhua made for their room once again, without waiting for Zane's reply.

William sighed, "Well, it all depends on Xinhua's opinion now as well as how much I can tolerate hunger. As for Story Magic, it's more than that; it's also about making sure that Real Life ends up like stories - The happier ones. And Damien is a nice name, by the way."

Then Xinhua accepted Zane's attempt at wooing, and William turned to Zane and said, "Oh, it seems that we're going to have to survive the forest trip, then! Also, I'm happy for you, my dear blacksmith! Now let's go; I can tolerate Hunger for at least a day or so, as long as the rewards are worth it. Plus, we can always pack lunch or eat the non-poisonous berries, right?"

And with that, he waited for Zane to answer, then lead the way out of the tunnels.

"Nya haha... if you were hungry my dear chronicler, you should have spoken up earlier." Out of his utility pocket, he pulled a ring with a flame shaped ruby and a ring with a feather shaped diamond. The wand was useful when controlling multiple objects, but for what he was planning the rings would do. Out of his bag he pulled some more frankfurters, a pan, and a baguette he threw at the storyteller's head. He had more for making hot dogs, but that would keep him quiet until he had finished cooking.

He led the rag tag group of adventurers into the caves, a relatively comical sight as he was cooking with one hand whilst carrying a shovel in the other. The upside was the flame created functioned as a torch and kept people guessing what kind of mage he actually was. Admittedly the smell of cooking food would attract the creatures living below the school but eh, his victims allies could take care of themselves.

When he left she turned the music down, no need for that now. then he came back with the gum why would anybody need to specify that the gum is clean? "sure" and she took the gum he offered.

"I'm Carmen." then a thought came to her head "do you know when do classes officially start?" the schedule had made almost no sense to her.

It took a few hours but everyone who was everyone all gathered together for the great fairy hu.....contracting. La’Tavia and her motley crew of dummy mages we’re heading to the forest to do some adventuring. Little did she know the new people wh would join. One thick Fine Lil thing names Rhea joined up. The team was set and the adventure was ready. All that was left was to get in.

Standing in front of the entrance, the old trees were all waiting for La’Tavia to pull her same antics. That is walk in, magic blazing and force her way through. Not this time though. No, she learned her lesson.”Listen here you reject Trees!! Let us in cause we have stuff to do!!”

To say Viola had expected this outcome, was correct. To also say she was going to make Tavi clean her whole room from top to bottom if her dress had even one spec of dirt on her dress, was also correct. Being neck deep in the ground, was not what Viola would have said was a good time. Good thing she at least, had her parasol with her so she was shaded from the sunlight.

"Really Tavi," Viola mused. "You've tried this before, it seems? I would have to agree that your futile persistence is amusing, if nothing else, fufu." That said, she was not here to be thwarted so easily herself. Craning her neck up to the Treant, Viola would have given it a friendly wave if her hands had been free.

"This is actually the first time I've seen a Treant in person." Viola spoke with a smile. "I don't suppose you could let me out of this little prison, hm? I don't know about little Tavi, but I merely came to talk." She doubted if they were this overprotective of the forest they would be able to so easily fool or get past them, but it certainly didn't hurt to try a little friendliness.

You see, Rhea didn't really mind dirt, she basically grew up with it her entire life, but she was never completely surrounded by it, let alone it getting in her clothes uncomfortably. That was another thing. Her outfit. She had meticulously planned this outfit the day beforehand, but she didn't plan for it to get covered in dirt, thanks La'Tavia, and she knew she couldn't do anything about it.

Sighing and shifting uncomfortably, or at least trying to move, she frowned in La'Tavia's direction for a hot second before replacing it with a polite smile, turning her gaze towards the treants, who were busy talking to her friend. Rhea was usually fine with getting into dangerous situations, but she hated being in a place of inescapable vulnerability, especially when she had better things to do.

"Ah, greetings wise treants, pardon my friends', er, brashness, I see you already know her, yes? Rhea glanced at La'Tavia again, giving her a "you weren't supposed to do that" look.

"Excuse us for disturbing your peace, but we peacefully ask for you to grant us permission to enter your realm, there are important matters we must undertake that are of utmost urgency that requires only us few, the passionate and courageous students, daring enough to even embrace your wrath. Wonderful beings such as yourself must realize that we bear no ill intent toward the majestic creatures of your forest. Our quest may only proceed through your word, as this journey is one of "finding an answer" that may benefit to this generation or the many after, so hopefully you great ones will hear my plead, and grant us access to seek this answer," Rhea said, basically trying to bullshit her way out of this. Mostly everything was true, it was just stated in a different way that made their cause look more appealing.

"I knew this was a bad idea," Liors sighed to no one in particular. She was gloriously dirt-free, thanks to a trick called 'no one is talking to me and I'm not talking to them so I guess that I'll stay back here and vaguely follow'. From where she was, she saw some familiar faces, some not, being pulled under by the treants. Picking up the pace, she walked briskly up to where they were struggling. Was it even possible to get out of that by yourself, she wondered. Most likely not, unless you had some kind of dirt-magic.

But she was getting sidetracked. She knelt down beside Rhea, digging at some of the soil around her, grimacing at her hands as the dirt began to build up on them. It didn't really help, so she stopped. Even with others, it could take a fair while to get out. Not to mention, it must be pretty uncomfortable down there,
"Could you, um, let them go? Just a little bit is fine," she said, voice trembling before the treants. They were trees, but they were strong trees. "Or not. If you don't want to. It would be nice if you did, and if we could go in the forest but- um."

Liors went quiet suddenly, mortified. That was too many words, and to the treants of all things! She wished the ground could swallow her up, which could actually happen here. Face still red, she picked up again, speaking shakier than before, if that were possible.
"Sorry. I'm, um, sorry. Nevermind."

"Nya haha... this is comedy gold." Zane laughed, currently standing a fair distance away from the others. He had finished cooking some food for the idiots who skipped breakfast when the trees reacted. Of course flamebrain would get them buried, the idiot had no sense of tact. He ignored the voice of gods saying 'Pot, Kettle, Black'. Strolling over to the others, he pulled out a watering can from his satchel and began pouring it over Via.

"Good thing this area has such good nutrients." Zane said, conversationally to the treants, "This dumbass tree you planted will grow up in no time flat. Not sure about that runt though..." He added, gesturing towards Viola, confident in the knowledge they'd be doing the exact same thing in his situation. It was especially amusing to see little Liors try and dig out Rhea by hand. He could give her one of his spare shovels, but that wasn't as amusing.

William went over to Zane and said, "I don't think you should do that." The young man still maintained a sense of what was right and proper, but his protest was weak, especially as the young man was still eating the frankfurters and other foodstuffs Zane had cooked up. He then turned towards the Treants, then to Rhea and Liors, saying, "I don't think sweet-talking the trees is going to help much; the Headmaster gave their orders himself."

He then looked at Zane once more, and said, "That said, I don't think we should start a fight with the talking trees; they're too much even for us to tackle. That said..." He paused for effect, "A distraction isn't a fight."

He then touched his palm to the ground, willing his Reader of Existence spell to show a visual record of an event important to the lives of the Treants; something memorable even in their long history. That ought to distract them long enough for him to begin the next phase of his plan, which was to run back to tell Liors and say, "Summon a Shovel using your Creation Magic and give it to me; I'll dig them out and we can go to the woods together!"

Smiling, Rhea was glad that Liors had come and tried rescuing her, but she also felt guilty that she was trying to use her bare hands to dig up the dirt around her, obviously grimacing as she did so. Shaking her head, Rhea looked at Liors and said, "No no, don't do that, I don't want you to get covered in dirt as well, but thank you for coming to my aid though, I appreciate it," giving a small but sad laugh.

Resting her chin on the ground, Rhea wished she could have comforted Liors as she could tell she was growing increasingly red and seemingly nervous. She was also frustrated that her speech was basically dragged through the mud as the others doubted her charisma skills, though as she was thinking about this, William had darted over to Liors and told her to summon a shovel to he could start digging them out or somethin' like that.

"Wait what? What's happening? Liors you can summon things? That's cool, I can sorta do the same thing, but not really, it's more of a puppeteer kinda thing, but now I'm getting side tracked, what's the plan?" Rhea spoke quickly, turning her head from side to side.

So they were going to the forest, finally. Everyone was amiably talking and making conversation when La'Tavia came up and abruptly announced that they should all go out to the forest now. Damien fell in the back, tagging along, but not in too much of a hurry. He was excited sure, but not that excited.

There were these trees in front of the forest. Damien was going to stroll right past them without another glance, but La'Tavia decided to talk to them. He paused and sure enough, as he continued to look at them, he realized that these were no ordinary trees. They had eyes. As one could expect, the trees didn't like La'Tavia's brashness and most everyone in the group was pulled to their necks in dirt. They didn't seem to take notice of Damien, at least not that he could tell. He had hung back far enough from La'Tavia to escape being rooted to the spot. He stifled a laugh as the students were helplessly stuck there. This school was certainly interesting.

Damien put a finger to his chin, trying to think of what to do now. The talking trees didn't sound like they were open to negotiations, as evidenced by Rhea and Viola's failed pleas. As he sat back, thinking about what to do, another student, separate from the group, came to the clearing and showed what looked to be a permit. The trees seemed to accept this and they opened the gate for her and she ran through. He thought he could see a chance opening up before himself and he was half-tempted to make a bolt for it and speed through the gate behind the girl, but he shook the thought away. No, I can't possibly make a break for it without the trees catching me. I don't have the materials on me to make a fake permit either, hmmm. He pulled out his vape and took a drag. He thought about just leaving them behind, but then he remembered Rhea. I can't leave her here. He sat down, stumped. Maybe Liors can come up with something.

”Oh Duh!!” La’Tavia smacked her lips and rolled her eyes as she knew she forgot to do something. Guess she needed to get permission from ole St. Nick to go on. The little Goldie was right, we needed a pass. The problem was that La’Tavia did not want to go back and get one.

”Geeeez. Are you guys really going to make me go get Another forest pass?” Her face sunk in disappointment. She knew those old guys were too seasoned to be tricked by the likes of them. She would know, clerver people had tried and failed. Especially Long-bark himself. He was the most shrewd of them all. She had to think of something, so she went on to speak.

”Long-guy, Mosss-y poo, I love you guys. We have great mementoes together. Can’t you let me ya through this one time? Haven’t I always gotten my butt kicked and gone to get the pass? I’ll do anything just don’t make me go see Dumbledor!!! He’a Way over there!”. She said pointing in the direction of the main administrative building with a completely controlled flame she made from the top of her head, shaped like a human hand. If the treants decided to deny them further entry, she would have to turn around and go get a pass because there was no fighting these guys, not at her level of power.

"Right?" Viola said in reply to Meruin's statement. Well, she didn't entirely mind. The ground was actually pleasantly cool, but if it got her dress dirty she might be mildly irritable. "And I'm not a runt you uncouth simpleton. I happen to be the epitome of beauty and adorableness." She replied, somehow still seeming smug despite her situation. That said, she turned back to the tress, having just listened to Tavi saying more silly things. She was awfully quick to give up.

"Treants," Viola began, slowing her voice in an effort to match their ponderous, rumbling voices. If one wanted to commune with nature, one had to become one with it, after all. Not fight it. In fact she was rather pleased to be in this situation, if only because it let her speak with them more candidly. "Please forgive that ones rashness. I myself have come, only to...converse. Potentially learn, if you would allow it." She really could sympathize with the Treants. She wasn't one to really speed through things herself.
