@Master Bruce Hey, I knew it was a long shot, but had to try.
Although, I will disagree with the "Any intrigue would immediately pivot to them" as I said, the entire crux of the story is "Robots In Disguise" and I would argue that they would be no more intrusive than, say, Hulk (In terms of Government wanting to control their unstoppable power) or Rom The Space Knight (In terms of "We must control this amazing Alien technology!")
In any case, completely abide by your ruling, just disagreeing on one point. Right, onto hairbrained scheme #2.
Does anyone have feelings about who the mayor of New York City would be? I guess technically atm it'd be between me and Priouette to decide, but I figured I'd ask the community since NYC will probably be home to so many interactions.
In terms of suggestions I was hoping for Fisk or Osborn. A tyrannical mayor seems like a fit, but I also don't know if that kind lf threat would draw focus away from Lord's administration.
I was thinking of Osborn. The reason being that he seems like he’d play politician better in the current political climate. Then in the background, he is slipping his corporation stuff from the US government to enrich himself a little that he’d get because he is the mayor. Tech the metahuman control agency is using, and maybe a super human serum is somehow involved. Whether it be from his company that he’d posture to sell to the agency or something the agency has been working on.
Fisk, I had thought of him buying up small but brilliant tech companies namely to put the scientists to work on arms manufacturing. It is how Silk’s first villain in the IC, The Vulture, will appear. Bought out by Fisk and given a bit of Reach tech to make his invention of a flying suit finally possible but now he is in debt to Fisk.

Just a cheap imitation of Stark Industries PATENTED War Machine armour smh.

Superhuman Strength: Capable of lifting 10 tons over his head with minimal effort, Spidey has been shown to exceed this when in times of great peril or through sheer willpower.
Superhuman Durability: While his skin doesn't stop bullet, he is capable of surviving considerable amounts of blunt-force trauma. Hit by cars, trains, superhumans capable of ripping buildings apart, Spider-Man just keeps bouncing back.
Wall-Crawling: Due to hyperstrong-microfibers that have grown out of the pores of his body, he is capable of sticking to most surfaces and clinging on with just the palm of his hand or soles of his feet, even just by hooking on with his shoulders.
Hyper-Reflexes: Spidey's reflexes are that of an insect, during times of stress, he perceives the world around him at 40x the speed of others and reacts accordingly. Seeing the world in slow motion, but seeming to move normally.
Spider-Senses: Spidey's Senses are something of an oddity. Some form of Extra-Sensory Perception, he gets a strange tingle in the back of his neck whenever danger is nearby.
Superhuman Regeneration: While not exactly healing back broken bones in seconds or anything, Spidey's recovery rate is considerably elevated. Able to heal minor cuts and scrapes in hours with broken bones coming back in days rather than weeks.

Spider-Suit: The suit is just as much a part of Spider-Man as the cool powers, having advanced technologies built into it. Including:
Web-Slingers: A useful tool that allows him to (As his themesong says) spin a web of any size. He has multiple different formula's that he developed and packed into super-compressed capsules that he uses as ammo for his webslingers. Robes to wrap up people, grapples to hold and swing from, super-dense balls that are essentially for punching someone in the face from across the room, sticky-goop webs that hold his opponents in place, etc.
Spider-Tracers: While the Web-Slingers are built into the palm-side of his wrist, he also has a Spider-Tracer shooter built into the back of it, allowing him to fire a tracking device at fleeing foes, sometimes because they are flying, but mostly because someone is in danger and Spidey always chooses to help those in need above hurting his foes.
Spider-Visor: Although his spider-senses allow him to navigate pretty well, the visor in his suit has multiple display modes, including a Heads-Up Display for keeping track of his equipment and any damage to it, as well as night-vision, UV-sensors and other things that help him in his Spider-Maning tasks.

Expert Gymnast: Although he actually was rather into gymnastics when he was quite young, he had mostly forgotten it until that heady day when he was 15 when that Radioactive Spider came down... Well, it turns out that his former training seemed to come in quite handy when he was able to bend and flex the way he could. Ever since he became Spider-Man, Peter has been actively training to get better and better.
Skilled Photographer: Oh for the days of living on the $100 a week that JJ used to pay him for his photo's of "The Webslinging Menace" He was never the best photographer and the job kinda sucked all of the joy he used to have in the medium out of him, but he's still nonetheless quite good with a camera.
"Way Of The Spider": In the beginning, Spidey used to rely heavily on his super-powers for combat. Ambushing and overpowering his foes in blitz-attacks. But as he grew, he began to develop his own style of combat. Partially inspired by old Kung-Fu movies, combined with a healthy dose of Karate from a local teacher, as well as a teeny-tiny bit of professional wrestling from back in the day when he was "the Amazing Human-Spider" This martial art proved to be rather effective.

Genius Level Intellect: Spider-Man is a powerful hero, but frankly, would be nothing without the genius levels of intellect that Peter Parker possesses. Creating gadgets, outthinking his opponents, mastering Robotics, Neogenics and even got the most prestigeous thing a scientist can ask for: Has a particle named after him. Peter's knowledge of the physical sciences are not the greatest in the universe (He'll be the first to admit that he's no Reed Richards) But there are few in the scientific community that would scoff at his prowess.
Indomitable Will: "Stay Down" is, almost literally, not in Pete's vocabulary. Life has been doing its absolute damnedest to keep him down since forever and he has never let it do so, no matter how many times he had to look in his wallet and say "Nope, too broke for 10c ramen packets" no matter how many loved ones have died in seemingly pointless ways, no matter how many times a Supervillain puts his head through a pane-glass window, no matter how many times alien goo monsters turn him into a raging dickhead and he has to constantly worry about them hunting him down like a Bunny-Boiling Ex, no matter how many times the papers smeer his name, no matter how many times he has to pick himself up off the ground, Peter lives by the code of "All i have to do is get back up exactly 1 more time than they can knock me down." and so far it's working.

T H E S T O R Y S O F A R... T H E S T O R Y S O F A R...
Orphaned at a young age, Peter was raised by his Uncle Ben and Aunt May. Growing up, he had his best friend group including Mary Jane Watson (The Girl Next Door) and Harry Osborn (the son of a friend of May's) They would spend a lot of time together, playing in the back garden, being the 3 Musketeers (Well, 2 musketeers, Harry had to be the Queen of Spain) As life went on, Mary Jane went to live with her Aunt. Peter and Harry wouldn't learn until later in life that it's because her alcoholic father had beaten her mother until she committed suicide and authorities had awarded custody to the closest mentally competent family member. They met back up when they all went to Highschool together. The 3 Musketeers reunited.
So, this is the part of the story where the Spider shows up, let's NOT do this one last time, spider-bite, weird powers, Professional Wrestling, Uncle Ben killed by guy Peter could have stopped from robbing his boss, but didn't want to get involved yada-yada-yada, you know the drill. So, now, he is The Amazing Spider-Man at the age of only 16. A few years go by, simple robberies he's stopping, alleyway muggings, becomes something of a local legend, although he's annoyed that most people seem to think he's just horning in on Batman's gig. He graduates from High-School, super-villains begin to show up. His first is Doctor Curtis Connors, a brilliant Neogenecist who's working on Lizard DNA. He ends up turning himself into a giant lizard monster and becomes obsessed with unlocking the secrets of Spider-Man's powers, Curt actually befriended Peter and then betrayed him, giving Pete some severe Trust issues for a while.
Other villains came along, Mac Gargan, Adrien Tombes, Dmitri Smerdyakov, Max Dillon, he had an unfortunate run-in with a nasty pile of Alien goop, but that's a LONG story, heard it's running with some gun-crazed maniac now... Several of his villains turned out to be... Well, not villains. His sort-of rival from his days at Empire State, Michael Morbius, he may have turned himself into a mutant-vampire-like creature, but all-in-all, he only does what he does in an attempt to cure his unfortunate mistake. Otto Octavius is a genius and was his and Michaels professor at Empire State. Unfortunately, he went a little... Well, i believe the medical term is "Coo-coo-kachoo-pants-on-head-banana's" But i'm not entirely sure, i'm not a doctor... Well, i am, but not that kind of doctor. Point is, he welded 4 mechanical arms to his spine and got it in his head that he could save the entire human race from itself by stealing vast quantities of cash and building giant mechanical octopus-bots and spider-smashers. A little confused, but he had the right spirit. Alasdair Smythe... Ok, he was a brilliant scientist who ALSO went a little "blibble-blibble-blibble" (Again, i believe that's the correct pronunciation) when The Kingpin framed Spider-Man for killing his father, Spencer. He mutated himself into a giant mountain of muscle and cybornetic enhancements with giant spikes that shoot laserbeams and stuff in order to get his revenge (As one naturally does), but as soon as he found out it was Kingpin just trying to make enemies for Spider-Man... Well, turns out he's not such a bad guy.
So, you may be wondering about his old friends, Harry and MJ? Well, some good, some bad. Harry's Dad tested a new Super-Soldier syrum on himself in a desperate attempt to win a military contract. The positive is that it did turn him into a superhuman badass, the bad news is that it turned him into a superhuman badass with severe Schizophrenia and now has "The Goblin" who tells him to burn things. Namely, things called Spider-Man. Well, eventually, Gobby decided to get his son in on the game and recruited him as a Sidekick by the name of Hobgoblin. There was a number of fights, Spider-Man won some, Gobby almost won others. Eventually, Norman managed to band together 4 other Villains into a team he called The Sinister Six, but in the end, most of them were defeated and jailed. To make matters worse for Gobby, the truth came out that, yes, Peter Parker was Spider-Man. Luckily, there was enough of Harry left in there to allow him to break out of his fathers control. Harry eloped with his girlfriend and Peter didn't hear from him again...
As for MJ? Well, in her words "Face facts, Tiger, you won the jackpot" Their whirlwind romance had a LOT of ups and downs, threats to leave him because she didn't know he was Spider-Man and kept missing appointments because "Sorry, babe, gotta save New York from a runaway man in a giant rhino-costume" wasn't exactly an easy pill to swallow. But after Aunt May's passing, Peter was forced to come clean with her... Luckily, the best romances are built on trust and affection... And after she finished beating 7 bells out of him for lying to her for all these years, she forgave him. They married just before The Reach arrived.
Spider-Man didn't have much interaction with The Reach. They never really had any villains that bothered Queens, so he didn't really give them much thought. He suspected that they may have had something to do with that weird alien goo-monster he had trouble with previously, but again, never managed to prove anything. That also had the knock-on effect of Peter never really wanting to mess with Alien technology, because of said last time... That was until the attack... Spider-Man had his work cut out for him keeping New York under control as panicing filled the streets, but with MJ there to be his emotional center, he was able to persevere. Then, 5 years ago, up in the sky, it wasn't a bird, it wasn't a plane, it was a big blue Angel who came and saved them. Spider-Man didn't go to Washington to help, as he vowed to protect New York and his then Pregnant wife... Oh, i didn't mention, MJ was preggers at this time. She gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, May-Day Parker, on the day the Bomb went off (There's definitely no way that could possibly come back to bite us ever)
With the Aliens defeated, Peter was positive things were looking up... That was until it turned out that a force from within rather than without came to infect America. Maxwell Lord decided that "Anything even slightly inhuman has gotta go." He didn't seem to care too much about the Cyborgs and other mechanical monstrosities, but Spider-Man's already smeared public image got raked through the mud EVEN WORSE this time. Things then went from bad to worse. Harry came back into the picture in the Goblin Armour, the brand new Green Goblin. And... Well... Harry purposely lost the fight... Not only that, he purposely got himself killed on the big screen in front of the whole city. Turns out, the Goblin had began to take over again. It was running riot through Harry's brain and he couldn't take it. Harry was a good person, he didn't want to hurt people, and with his wife having died of Cancer, he just couldn't take the risk he would do anything to their son.
Whilst dying, Harry threw off the mask in front of the camera's to prove once-and-for all that the Green Goblin was an ALWAYS had been Harry Osborn, that the rumours surrounding his father were entirely his doing. His last sacrifice in an attempt to buy his fathers soul back from The Goblin. But Harry had set his affairs in order. He had signed everything over to his son, Norman "Normie" . and the executors of his sons estate until he came of age... MJ and Peter. The next day, Peter met with Norman... Norman... Didn't take it well... There were some cross words had, threats of legal action, threats of violence, but ultimately, for the sake of Harry's memory and the sake of Normie. See, Harry had actually been a fairly sensible investor and actually managed to gain a small controlling stake in Oscorp over the years. A stake that he left to Normie. And with Oscorp being one of the premier weapons-contractors, business had been BOOMING. Meaning that that stock was now worth quite a lot. As the executor of the estate, Peter could do anything he wanted with those shares and there was nothing Norman could do to stop him, but to honour Harry's memory, he sold the controlling stake to Norman, securing Normans place as the one-and-only Immortal-God-Emperor of Oscorp with pretty much nobody able to tell him what to do.
With that money, Peter invested in a new company, Parker Industries. A new tech start-up that developed new hardware, software, pharmaceuticals, the very controversial Neogenics division and other non-military projects designed to help the people of the world and to save lives. And the cherry atop the sundae? With a bit of political clout as gained for him by being the Spokesperson of Spider-Man back during the Reach invasion, he was able to leverage it to Parole some of his old enemies out of the clink, on the proviso that they serve their time developing for Parker Industries.
P L O T ( S ) & G O A L ( S ) P L O T ( S ) & G O A L ( S )
I want to explore the next phase of Spider-Man's story if his story was actually allowed to progress. Marvel has this idea in their minds that Spider-Man is only allowed to suffer and be an ignorant teenager. I want to show how he actually handles being a man with his own responisbilities and with a happy family, but obviously, Pete isn't done being life's whipping boy just yet. His suffering has just evolved and he has evolved with it. I kinda want to work in some of the Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy stuff, but i realize that's super popular and borderline it's own thing at this point, so i'm going go forego any use of them. I also plan to work with the other New York/Spider-themed players to make sure that i'm gonna give them all of the space they need in order to make sure that their stories take priority, hence why Venom is left somewhat ambiguous in this.
So, some of the plots i plan to explore in this include:
The Metahuman Question
Normie and May-Day are both Metahumans. Although May-Day was always expected to have some Mutant powers, due to Peter's Radioactive Spider-Blood, she develops a few... Less than intended mutations along with it due to The Reach's DNA-diddling fiasco. Normie's metahuman ability on the otherhand is a severely increased intellect. He is almost as smart as Peter despite being only 8 years old. Problem is that as soon as The Agency figures this out, the defecation is going to hit the osculation.
Spider-Girl and American Son
As a follow on from the previous point, Normie and May-Day are best of friends and have both know about Peter being Spider-Man... Well, they want to do Crime Fighting as well. May-Day already has her Spider powers coming in nicely, but Normie... Normie idolizes Captain America... But the problem is that Normie was born with a brilliant mind, but a lame body. He has always been rather physically weak... He plans to fix that using Neogenics and some stolen Oscorp files.
Clone Saga
Ah yes, that old chestnut. So, this is going to be The Agencies big plan to deal with Spider-Man. Clone Him. And with the help of some Reach science, they may have just the means to make some Enhanced Spider-Powered Boot-Boys with which to round up and murder as many Meta's as they can find.
Norman's Revenge
Norman got away with being the Green Goblin scott free... And if he puts the suit back on, he invalidates every sacrifice his beloved son made... Even Norman's not that selfish and petty (Close, but no cigar) With an agency out there looking to take down every mutant, including Spider-Man, he may be looking for some partners within The Agency to take his revenge for him and deliver his beloved grandson back into his arms.
Superior Six
With Octavius, Smythe, Tombes, Dillon and Morbius working at Parker Industries, Peter is eager to maybe put together a team that can show the world that not all Mutants are bad, that they can absolutely do good for the world. Unforutnately, these 5 may be willing to help Peter and work off their debt to Society, most of them actually REALLY dislike each other, especially after the Sinister Six debacle. So, making them into an Avengers team may not be the easiest thing in the universe...

Ten years ago, Leonard Snart and Mick Rory were nothing but juvenile delinquents. The arrival of The Reach did nothing to stay their young anger and budding criminal activities. If anything, the sudden upheaval in society made it easier for the pair to get away with their petty antics.
Five years ago, recent high school graduate Leonard picked up his best friend from a detention center where Mick had spent the last month. Tagging along was Leonard's younger sister, Lisa, who excitedly pointed out the brilliant light show in the sky above to the two hoodlums. They watched in stunned silence as the heavens exploded with The Reach's final 'gift' to humanity, bathing all three in cosmic warmth.
One year ago, with dangerous rhetoric on the rise and hate crimes against metahumans becoming all-too-common, the trio made a decision: they would not be victims.
Five months ago, three metahumans struck an Agency detainment facility in Central City where they stole classified military intel and freed an illegally imprisoned mutant, Roscoe Hynes.
One month ago, Colonel Wade Eiling, commander of The Agency's Central City division, gave a press conference about the metahuman threat within the city and announced an increased military presence to combat this. Four unknown individuals, reported to be highly dangerous terrorists, were named as public enemy number one. Colonel Eiling swore that, one way or another, he would put an end to these metahuman Rogues.

This RP has a unique premise and setting, and so I wanted to design a concept that doesn't merely exist within but exists because of the world. It wouldn't be fun to merely run a superhero that does general superhero things all while the country falls to fascism. In a world where the president is essentially enacting martial law and declaring war on metahumans, it would only be natural for certain metahuman elements to react. Realistically, it would be the roguish elements that would lash out first. Who better than to resist than the honorable Rogues themselves?
The Rogues in this world never formed as villains because, simply, the heroes didn't exist in any meaningful form. Not until after the world was already changed, twice. Instead, their criminal behavior lies in their adolescences and as current enemies of the state.
I intend to fully explore this premise of a United States falling to fascism, a purely fantastical concept never seen before in reality, and what resistance might actually look like in such a world. I have a general plot line for this team that can carry them through solo posts as well as collaborative ones, though Central City will be the primary backdrop for some time.

Shape shifting! She can change the proportions and color of her body at will. New outfits and a new face on the spot, shrink down small or grow up big. Extra limbs! Long limbs! Density manipulation, for intangibility (at the cost of no power) or super durability (at the cost of no speed.) Almost anything she can think of. Hint: telekinesis + shape shifting wing cape + lower density = flying!
To top it all off, a hefty, healthy dose of super strength, durability, and super duper telekinesis.
Martians can shapeshift, but they have three key internal organs that must remain consistent in shape and general location. Mind, Heart, and Key. The Heart is the sustaining organ that provides life and sustenance to M'gann's body via a blood-like liquid that absorbs throughout her entire form. It generates life energy via an efficient process similar to photosynthesis. This was easier on Mars, so she needs to supplement herself with more complex sugars...Choco cookies are pretty good, huh?
The Mind is the center of her psychic powers and allows her to experience the world. This one needs to be near her senses, so its usually behind the eyes. It requires a connection of some kind to the Heart so it can be sustained by it. While her natural biology makes this a lot harder to occur, if the Mind is somehow physically rattled she can still suffer concussive like effects.
The Key is how Martian's can regenerate some physical wounds and also responsible for how they reproduce. It creates new life. If necessary, it can be used to reproduce asexually, though the process is extremely demanding.
Each Vital Organ is about the size of an apple. If M'gann loses one, she might be able to recuperate alright in some way or another. Two is big long coma territory if she's lucky. Three is obviously game over. They're called vital organs for a reason! -

Oh, as a Martian, she also has more senses.
She has the usual; sight, hearing, smell, touch and taste. On the whole, most of them are equal to or even worse than the average humans. The exceptions being her sense of touch, which is extremely refined; and her hearing, which is pretty bad. Her most said word is probably ‘What?’
But she does have three more: a sixth sense, that allows her to detect spirits and the rhythm of the other side.
A seventh sense, connected to gravity and the stars that allows her to navigate even in the depths of blackest space without a map.
An eighth sense, that allows her to detect and see the psionic ‘auras’ of other lifeforms. The one that defines her as a ‘Pale’ Martian as opposed to a ‘Green’ Martian.
And a ninth sense, that allows her to ba tu’anthrmag’iag with ba ta onron’y’aban po helvek’maelans. Uhh, that one’s a bit hard to translate into English. Regardless, this is the one the Reach hijacked to make her feel sick, weak, and faint whenever she gets too close to fire. It’s also the same sense the philosophers of her people tapped into to begin to discover the Life Equation. It also allows her to sense where the exact ‘physical location’ of state borders are. Like, you know that place in America with the Four Corners? Look, it’s hard to explain, okay? It’s the ninth sense! -
T H E S T O R Y S O F A R... T H E S T O R Y S O F A R...
M’gann M’orzz is a Pale Martian, growing up in a time of racial tension on her homeworld of Mars. She grew up ostracized from her peers, growing up in dominant Green communities. As a result she has low self-esteem, and even the smallest words of encouragement will get the lonely girl excited. Her life on Mars was unremarkable in many ways. She grew up in an alien culture. Lies were impossible. Connections between people happened fast. Art, music, and philosophy were thriving. In faraway places, Greens and Pales threw parties of reconciliation and peace with each other, but where M’gann grew up she had no such luck. The Life Equation philosophy began to spread, promising to prove that free will and spiritual freedom could be demonstrated as a mathematical proof. M’gann managed to find a pamphlet with some of the equation written down on it. Can you imagine seeing something like that? It was astonishing. But perhaps it was too late. Before Martian society could repair itself, an unforeseen threat emerged and decided its best option was to fan the flames.
It was this time of tension that the Reach exploited, turning different sides against each other so they could do their research on the martians psionic and shape-shifting abilities in the chaos. During this time of secret abductions, one M’gann M’orzz numbered among the victims. They came for her in the night and snatched her from her home, often targeting Pale Martian communities due to the lack of security and attention.
They enhanced her abilities, giving her telekinesis and enhancing her other powers, but the same psychic strength they increased made them unable to control her. The closest they could do was program into her with a psionic weakness to fire and heat so they wouldn’t phase-shift away from their experiments. Satisfied with their results and having no more use for her, they put M’gann into cryogenic storage. At least they weren’t wasteful.
When the Reach came to Earth, they brought M’gann with them, deep in their vaults of experiments. During the battle, the ship was destroyed by Superman. He later recovered some of the wreckage and experiments within, and brought them to his fortress for safe keeping. M’gann’s damaged pod was among them. The kryptonian technology within sustained and slowly began to repair her pod to bring her out of cryogenesis without physical or mental damage. Years passed, and eventually, M’gann would wake up on a new world.
But not just any new world. Tens of thousands of years had passed! Her homeworld, Mars, is now desolate and abandoned, the fate of the Martian people a mystery. Were they wiped out by the Reach? Made extinct later by an unlivable environment? Or did they pack up and move, for one reason or another? It’s impossible to know.
Stranded on an Earth divided, she knows from her past that division and rejection only leads to a weaker society, one that could be exploited by the Reach should they ever return. Earth and its people must be united if they are to survive. And there’s no better way to do that than to become a superhero, just like Superman! An emissary of the Martian people, Miss Martian will take to the skies and do what she can to bring some light into the world.
When she describes herself as a White, or Pale Martian, astute observers might point out that she is, in fact, very green. Martians actually have “nine” general senses as opposed to humans “six.” Yes, six. M’gann can tell with her “eighth” sense that some humans have latent psionic potential. And that same eighth sense is what gives her away as ‘Pale’ as opposed to ‘Green’. It’s as obvious to her and other Martians as skin color is to humans, but to humans, well, she just looks green. And it’s something innate about her she can’t just shape shift away from.

This Miss Martian is going to be kind of a combination between Miss Martian and Martian Manhunter. Originally, the Manhunter himself was brought into this space and time by a science experiment of some random human guy that died of a heart attack right after. So such an origin is still technically possible, but basically, I’m playing an amalgam of both characters. I’ve also toyed around with Martian society and lore a little bit.
I wanted a heroine that can exist in any space of a superhero world. Street level, cosmic level, magical level. Someone that can fly around and meet all the other player characters in an attempt to learn more about the world and herself. And obviously she already has a connection to Superman. In terms of overall plot, I’m kind of planning on free wheeling it and seeing how the world evolves. Though I do have some ideas based on an old comic run about VULTURE. I might combine that with AIM or something, to give M’gann an evil org to go up against on her worldly adventures. Evil science organizations are always fun.
I’m nerfing her powers somewhat, to make her more interesting. The whole “Martians are as strong as Kryptonians” thing always struck me as untrue, in practice. Like is it really true? I'm not so sure. Besides, the flying brick powerset is the least interesting thing about the Martian!
I also wanted to play a silly billy. I like it when the Martians do things like learn the true meaning of Christmas. I'd like her to be an implacable bright spot in any room. She has her own problems to sort out but she's a good person and an optimist at her core, because she has to be! And wants to be. While obviously she does have a certain sadness about her, being isolated from her origins, she does hold onto hope that the Martian people live on, somewhere, in some capacity. Or at the very least, weren’t all wiped out by the Reach. So that brightens up her spirits. That, and remembering that snippet of the Life Equation she managed to find.
Due to a sense of Martian pride and being perhaps the last Martian, and in the hope of helping human society unite, M'gann only disguises herself as a human if she really needs to go undercover. For example, to solve a crime or find missing people. Otherwise, she prefers to be herself.
Hello. it has been a little bit since i joined "one of these" as it were. but i am here again to try my hand at it.
i ran the Superman connection past AndyC first and got a yes, incase anyone was worried about that.
edit: added 'alter memories' to her powerset because i forgot it.

Barbara Morse was recruited by the Central Intelligence Agency while she was a student at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Looking for mercurial problem solvers, they saw Bobbi as one of the brightest recruits they had found in quite some time. A PhD in biology, unfortunately, didn’t really have much use in the intelligence gathering business, but what was useful was how quick Bobbi was in her feet as well as in the head.
She was 22.
Over the next twelve years she became one of the elite spies in the agency, traveling across the world in the best interests of the United States government and generally getting the job done–with efficiency and deadly accuracy. Considering herself a patriot and in the cause, when the cynicism resulting from experience turned its head she tried to keep her feet planted in the ground. The world was changing, and not for the better. She lived through the housing crisis, the recession that resulted from it, the rise of even more terrorist cabals, and reactionary cultural sentiments that seemed to go global.
With the CIA depowered and run through by President Lord and a new agency erected above it, Morse is starting to wonder where Lord’s administration is taking America. Still nursing the effects of The Reach Invasion, she’s in a tough spot.

The appeal of Mockingbird in a comic-oriented jab at contemporary politics escalating to a boiling point of chaos and paranoia, largely, is to play from a perspective from the inside.
The decision to keep her in the CIA/Agency route instead of moving her to SHIELD is largely to keep her still relatively in line with supporting the government in spite of the early lunacies of the Lord Administration. I hope to interact and collaborate with both ex-government types as well as figures like Captain America. I do better role-playing, anyway, which I’m sure you agree with as an assessment.

-
T H E S T O R Y S O F A R...
A couple of things.
Firstly, the game takes place in a world where the first superhero was Superman, who appeared five years ago to end the war with The Reach. The intention being that his intervention is what inspired others to put on a costume and help people. Peter being Spider-Man for as long as you've said jives with that quite a bit. I could see a version where he was around for awhile as a hidden presence in New York until the last few years post-Reach war, but that also doesn't really work with the idea you're going for of Peter having a full career and outed public persona as Spider-Man with noted clashes against his supervillains.
Secondly, The Reach is treated as a bigger deal than your version of Peter would be letting on. I don't know if that's an intentional character choice, but I can't buy a version of Peter Parker that would be apathetic to global-scale human suffering even if it didn't affect New York directly - though Doc's app for The Punisher already confirms that it did. There's an inconsistency there.
Your concept has potential overall, but it kind of messes with the idea of the game. Metahumans and mutants being a targeted fixture of President Lord's Reach-fuelled ire would be harder to believe if New York had a public superhero for years who had been slinging it out with super-terrorists that threatened the city every week.

"I will not fail again dear Husband. This blade hungers sinners and I am vengence incarnate" - Katana, talking to Soultaker.
The new world is cruel to those who are gifted and seek justice. The aftermath of the Reach leaves a huge power vacuum among the crime syndicates across America. Ever since the decree of the anti-metahuman law, those who operate in the shadows are free to function without the fear of the government monitoring them.
Multiple factions that are skilled with the Blade, Espionage, and Stealth have been taking over the streets. (The Sword Clan, The Dagger Clan, The League. etc.)
The land of the brave has regressed into a feudal Japanese setting, where in every city there's a swordmaster/ninja/mercenary operating as a henchman/clan lord in a minor/major crime syndicate.
Some of which came from Japan, Villians that specialize in the art of the blade and deceit; Serving as bodyguards to high-profile crime lords and Politicians around Lord's Circle as a safety protocol ever since the resistance has been growing in numbers.
Katana, who was presumably killed by Lady Shiva returns to America.
She now works as a masterless samurai: A ronin. A shadow that hunts down those who are on the wrong side of history.

Daggers, swords, shuriken, nunchucks, and other pointy things!
I would like to introduce some glorious steel-on-steel clashing of swords, street-level action in this setting while putting some respect in one of DC's silent and deadly fighters: Katana. Separating her apart from the suicide squad.
My intention and goals are simple, a loose retelling of Miyamoto Musashi in the shape of Katana which involves Fighting numerous duels, meddling in turf disputes, some Clan vs Clan scruffle, collaborating with some resistance fellas and running a gauntlet on how far she can go battling some sword-wielding baddies in this oppressive setting.
Plot:
Ever since the ruthless Amanda Waller became VP, Task force X has gone through a shake-up. Those who she deems unworthy lose their head as she makes room for other more useful metahumans in Belle Reve Prison to do their bidding for her.
Katana, being a part-timer in this band of dangerous misfits draws the line and made a choice on where she stands. Tatsu Toro is playing a dangerous game between her temporary faction and her morals.
Katana is involved in killing a corrupt public official and is being hunted by Lady Shiva for her bounty.
After being presumably killed by the deadliest assassin on the planet, Tatsu Toro barely survives and returns to Japan to recuperate. Only to realize that her job of mowing down criminals is not finished. Soultaker's hunger has never been satiated ever since she left America.
With her identity erased Katana returns to the USA and now works as an independent mercenary and is a part of the resistance. Disrupting the government on a smaller scale as a vigilante.
It's a samurai showdown somewhere at the land of the free, and Katana takes center stage! Claiming the lives of the swordmasters who oppose the resistance one soul at a time.
I'll raise an issue with it as well. I'd have to redraw Silk from the ground-up and doesn't work with all my intended plans for a lot of those named villains.
Not saying I have a monopoly on the ideas! And I'll work with whoever wants to do build up NYC! However, that would interrupt a lot of ideas I had.
