Blah, hate when I get back and see I've missed several pages of OCC. I'll get to reading all the new characters. Really liking most of them so far.

@Discontent Congratulations! You’re accepted! Your character get an Ocular Ability! Your Ability is Aura reading! Your character can see the aura of those around them, and determine their feelings from the color! It’s very weak without a familiar, perhaps he hasn’t even noticed these aura’s until now! However, with enough training, your character can learn to read auras much more precisely, and determine health, strength, magic type, mixed emotions, and even see the outline of auras through walls! How cool!

You can control metal, including changing its shape, launching it as a projectile, and even altering the kind of metal it is! Very cool! Currently, you can only use Summon, which summons nearby metal to you! With training, however, you can expand your number of spells and your skills, to allow you to shape metal or even transmute it! How lucky!

The second choice we had was Enhanced Reflexes, meaning your Ability would be to both perceive and react to things faster than others can. However, if something is moving faster than you can perceive, you can’t react to it and will be hit.

Oh snap you gave up enhanced healing? I'd so take that over super speed xD But too each their own I guess. Actually, it's a 50/50, but enhanced healing is good for a place where some could accidently burn/electrocute you, things like that.

Alright. In that case, you can perceive things faster and react to them, but if they're faster than you can perceive and react to, you will be hit. In addition, things that you cannot perceive, like sneak attacks or traps, will still get you.

I still don't think you understand the difference between a mage and familiar. There are people who are mages, and then there are people who are familiars. A familiar can't become a mage and vice versa. In that case, your character picking up his Mother's, who is a familiar, dream of becoming a mage doesn't really make sense.

Mages don't study to become mages. They study to control their powers. If your character's father dropped out of studying his magic, then he just wouldn't know how to use his magical element. He could have picked up magic tricks like we have (like pulling a bunny out of a hat) but that would not be true magic and that would not be related to him being a mage. Also, we're still not sure why this shattered your characters psyche to the point where he became a shut-in. Like what about finding out his dad wasn't the great and powerful mage he thought he was that lead to your character being a shut in because it sounds like there was more going on with him in that case.

I'm not sure what you're calling a great mage? Being a great mage is something anyone can do in this world if they work hard enough. It's not about having great power or saving the world. A great mage would be on par with our real world scientists and doctors. Yes, those things are hard but it's not like they're impossible.

Also, can we talk about how your character is paying for the school? What do you mean by "A half scholarship"? Scholarships don't work like that at all. You either have it or you don't. If you're trying to say he didn't get all the scholarship money required...that's not how it works either. If you got a scholarship, you're in. And even if that did work, did his parents pay for the rest? You made this sound like a bad thing but nothing ever came from it?

And one more thing about this, your character should have gotten in his first year of high school. His low proficiency wouldn't have mattered as magic and powers would only start to manifest around this time (so a low proficiency would be normal) and his physical capabilities also wouldn't have mattered. Your character has the highest intelligence score right now and characters with a lower score have gotten in with a scholarship. There would be no half scholarship with him. If he was as smart as you say he is, then he would have gotten a scholarship no problem.

Yes. Yes it will. In addition, your character will be unable to perceive things the normal eye can’t, like astral projections. In addition to this, what he can’t perceive, he can’t react to, so if he’s blinded or in a dark room, his reflexes are useless. If someone sneaks up on him or hits his blind spot, he can’t react. With time, you can increase your reaction speed, but not to the extent of someone with prescience or super speed.

Yes. The schooling from elementary to middle school is basic schooling. The closest student get to magic or abilities prior to high school is a brief over view of the types of magic and abilities in their last year of middle school.
