Emerald Felicia - Hallway Navigation -

Emerald had been on the verge of actually saying something to Luke when Cobalt suddenly took up her entire vision. She sort of wanted to talk to Luke, but she didn't want to be rude to Cobalt so...

"Thanks! I've practiced a lot with my weapons! And I suppose Diamond can be scary sometimes." She giggled. "I'm Emerald Felicia, it's nice to meet you!" She shook his hand. "I'm sure we'll have a lot of successful missions together and kill lots of Grimm and people who try to kill us!" Well, that was one way to introduce yourself. She was hoping to fight more Grimm and less people in all honesty, but she even she wasn't naive enough to believe they wouldn't come into contact with some bad people, like the White Fang, who in her mind did more harm than good to the better treatment of Faunus.

"Excuse me for a second..." She darted around Cobalt and approached Luke. Then she poked him to get his attention. "Hello I'm Emmy! Saw your fight with Shiro, it was pretty intense!"

"How are you so perky right now?" Ben asked his teammate wearily, nevertheless greeting her with a grin. The weight of her arm felt like a fifty pound weight strapped to his back, which probably meant he was a lot more tired than he thought. "Her expression was pretty great. Got the feeling that doesn't happen much, in her class. Not sure if 'that' is the tie or someone going Lizzie Borden on their foe, thought."

"Thanks, man." Bastille's leader said, turning his head a bit to address the other Hunter in training. "You fought Shiro, right?"

Luke Schwarz--Suddenly Popular?!

Catching the girl running up to him as he opened a dialogue with BL--

Heh.

--Luke, in spite of himself, still found his eyes slightly widening for a brief moment at the sudden pincer attack on his attention. But, like any good budding social person, the period of surprise vanished just as quickly as it had came, and he spun upon his heel to face the trio, now backpedaling and somehow managing to not trip over anything.

A skill borne of practice, since as it turns out, once it becomes known that you've opened up in senior year after spending all of high school an enigma, people had a way of getting curious about you and asking things in droves.

Seriously, I shouldn't have been that much of an oddity...

"Yeah, and it was pretty crazy." he said with a weary laugh, blissfully unaware of how myopic his self-assessment of one year ago was. "I still can't believe he blew us both up. Figured I could go to work from side control, but that shows what I know about trying to fight like a normal person against someone training to be a hunter, huh?"

He scratched the back of his head, where there may have still been a sneaky little flake of dried blood that he'd missed.

"To tell the truth, he ended up shutting me down pretty cleanly aside from that. I've a lot of work to do even after getting in here by the skin of my teeth..."

Cobalt liked her, she was pretty friendly and a great combatant as well. She didn't snap at him after he burst into the room last night and offered him cookies. Cobalt wanted to continue talking but it seemed as if Emerald had better things to do and cooler people to talk to. "Bye." he said halfheartedly to nobody, as Emerald was already pretty far away down the hallway. He looked around and coughed.

Cobalt continued his walk to Math class with a frown on his face. "I think I was right about my team not liking me." Cobalt muttered to himself as he sat down in his chair. It made sense too, he was a replacement after all. They probably resented him for replacing their old teammate, whoever that was. This was going to be a long year. Cobalt put his head down on his desk and waited for class to start.

A few minutes passed and he began reflecting on his battle with Gren earlier. "I really need some rockets like his. I'm slow as a turtle otherwise. Then again a lot of his speed also came from the lack of friction he had. Maybe I could get some sort of anti grav boots instead. That would be cool." Cobalt pondered out loud. "I should probably make some improvements on the 22 Smasher as well. Acid rounds. Acid rounds would be very useful in damage over time. I should probably be writing this down." Cobalt got out a pen and paper and began writing down some ideas to improve battle efficiency.

Kuhaku Shiro - Sh*t.

The bell rung.
Its shrill sound froze Shiro's expression and body solid as cold realization washed over him.
"C-combat class is over?"
Body growing rigid, how many fights had he missed? How long had he been absent from class? How long had he been standing there talking to Sepia?
"My stuff is still at Combat Class!"
Not to mention...
"I still have my weapons with me!"
He'd have to check his weapons back into the Armory, backtrack to get his things from Combat Class, and make it to his next class on time?
"Damn! Damn! Damn! I'm so boned!"
Shiro absolutely detested being late.

Ears and tail standing erect from the shock, Shiro broke out in a slight cold sweat. "U-uh, Sepia? Excuse me for a second, I have to go check something." Turning, he re-entered his dorm room and left the door wide open as he stalked back to the bathroom. Snatching up Abel's clock, he looked at the time in horror as his emotional state quickly reached critical. Mouth hanging open, his face reddened as his trembling grip strained the time-telling device's structural tolerance against a feverish tiger faunus' strength. Hairline cracks appearing over Abel's clock in Shiro's hands. He only had minutes to spare. Shiro was fast, but he wasn't that fast. No way he could realistically run a marathon around campus to do what he needed to do and make it to the next period on time. Still staring at the crumpling clock in his hands, his mind rolled through his options.

"I have to take Kladenets and Perun with me to Math class and just risk looking like a fool. I'm gonna have to go on break or some other time back to Combat Class to get my things. I won't have anything to take math class with, so I'll have to just borrow supplies from someone else. Damn it all!" Chucking Abel's clock over his shoulder, he scooped up his weapons and slung them onto his back. As Shiro slammed the bathroom door shut behind him, the clock clattered in the bathroom sink. Right next to Shiro's forgotten and open bottle of medication.

As Shiro walked out of the room, Scoot jumped onto his friend's back and climbed up to the tiger faunus' shoulders. Though clairvoyant the ferret was not, he knew when Shiro was up to something already. Stepping through the threshold of his team's room, he put up his hands in an apologetic gesture towards Sepia. "Ah, sorry but I have to run. It was nice talking to you! Uh, I'll see you around!" Walking past her, he got down on all fours and immediately exploded into a mad sprint. Cutting his usual crazed path through the now crowded hallways to what he figured was the fastest route to math class. Clumsily leaving a trail of destruction as he tackled, tripped, speared, and bulldozed his way in his frantic attempt to not be tardy. A stream of protests from the accosted students followed him, a never ending river of apologies returned from Shiro in response. In the distance, one could see a small ferret clinging to Shiro's clothing in a feeble attempt to hang on for dear furry life.

Mokuren listened to Skyra's story, and for a moment, it seemed like she had penetrated the perpetual white noise that was Mokuren's brain. She looked at her sword, as if to say something, and then Skyra asked about Mokuren's reasons to be here. A few moments passed, with Mokuren's eyes looking haunted, then the reverted back to the absent, scatter-brained self.
"I don't know" She exclaimed, proudly, as if it was a great reason. "I just found myself here one day, and nobody said anything about it, so I continuted to find myself here every day. And then today happened." It was clearly a lie, but spoken with such conviction that she believed the words, despite their obvious falicy.

Mokuren let her eyes dwell on Skyra for quite some time, and then smiled, and spoke in a softer tone.
"I am sure I will find my raison d'ĂȘtre eventually. But, not right now, I don't think"

Amaranth Desire: Still in Search of a Uniform

Amy caught up with her team, backpack across her back, carrying the pack she'd thought had her weapons in it- but she left those in the ring, so that meant... This was someone else's backpack. Whoever it was had math judging by the books in it, she'd just have to figure out who it was once she got there and hope whoever it was wasn't too irritated.

She still had her athletic outfit on. Damn uniform. If they tried to give her another size too small or male version...

She shook her head, and sighed.

"Hi guys."

Lauren Negasi

"Hey, Desire! Cool fight, girl - the hand-to-hand girl in me was losing my mind with hype." Sparing a quick look at her uniquely-garbed teammate, her welcoming grin took on a sheepish glint. "Even if, uh. You know. The reasoning was pretty...serious...I'll change the topic now."

Lauren, one arm already slung over Ben's shoulder, went on an under approach to Amaranth, so as to not irritate her collar or risk resting her forearm on a feather and pulling it or something awkward. Her arm looped around the half-Faunus' waist and pulled her into the chain of Bastille students currently walking to math class.

That's it!

"Sooooo, like, what's math class here tend to cover?" Her question was directed not just towards her two teammates, but Luke Schwarz as well, who looked like he had a good enough head on his shoulders to stay awake through math class. "Never been too good with equations to begin with, and after that conk on the head, I doubt I'm going to be doing much more than turning the quadratic formula into a drawing of a log cabin for the next hour or two."

Diamond was left staring at the leaving faunus, completely baffled. "What'd I do?" she shrugged, scratching her head in wonder. Can't she get one good fight in this class? Seriously, she's had better luck with her free-time spars. Walking out of the arena with a pout, she figured this wasn't the highlight of her social skills. From the way Amy walked out on her, this friendship looked like a total loss. Maybe it was for the best. And maybe she had it coming. She wanted to distance herself from everything in her past, well there she had it.

Feeling a bit down, the thief shuffled into the math class. Not in the mood to talk, study or in general even being looked at for too long, she hogged one of the far side corner seats, silently brooding in her misery. Right, that's it! I've had it, I'm getting hammered! she thought up a solution. She didn't do that often, but now seemed like a proper occasion.

Sapphire Rode - Combat Class

Sapphire watched the rest of the fights stony faced. She was angry, with Napoli, with Beacon's combat system but mostly with herself. That match had been a joke. Her opponent had done almost nothing the entire time then one scratch and the win was his. It was ridiculous. It had seemed to Sapphire he'd been more interested in getting a proper introduction than he had in his grade and yet despite that fact that he'd shown no signs of actually trying at all and he'd still come out on top. Not literally Sapphire thought, a small smile of satisfaction alighting the corner of her lips at the memory of the painful gasp that had escaped Napoli's lips when she'd driven her knee into his chest.

Still she could do so much better than that. If she was lucky and kept her grades up there was a chance she could have that particular match scrubbed from her record. It wasn't something she wanted to remember. As the bell rang and students hurriedly picked up their things and shuffled off to the next class Sapphire's mind wandered to the armory. She'd had an idea for a device over the weekend. It wasn't a weapon but it would aid in combat.

Dissatisfied with her performance and thinking of what she would do in armoury class Sapphire was nearly run over by Shiro as he tore down the hall towards the same classroom as the rest of the students. "Blundering idiot." Sapphire muttered to herself her train of thought broken. If she'd had them on her Sapphire no doubt would have practiced assembling and disassembling Morpheus and Phobator. They were of such an intricate design that when she was younger she'd performed this action once a day to ensure that she would know how to repair them if they were ever damaged. Now it served as stress relief, it was something familiar to her and completely within her control. However because of Shiro she didn't even have that anymore.

"Bad news, Lauren, I'm pretty sure this class is supposed to be calculus." Ben commented, peering at the board through a slightly swollen eye as he found his way to a seat. Plenty of seats for his team around him, and one he offered to Luke with a gesture. "Welcome back, Amy. Good to see you. Guess you still don't have a uniform."

"Lauren, how were you luckier than her that way?"

Luke Schwarz -- FUCKING KRAYZIKK MAKING ME NEED TO EDIT MY POST REEEEEEEEEE

"Looks like mostly Calculus." Luke answered in even time with Ben, stumbling as one of the students knocked off balance by Shiro's mad dash back to the combat classroom was (understandably) knocked into his path. That was a good sign of it being enough of the whole "walk backwards" thing. Turning forward as they approached the final stretch to the classroom, he was no free to frown apprehensively.

I've always had a decent enough handle on math, but I did hear horror stories about Calc.

What if I'm one of those types that hits a brick wall with it?

Will I even be able to count on my previous facility?

I did just barely get in here!

"So, I guess I'll have to see what it's like." he finished to himself as they'd entered the classroom, using his well-traveled "more neutral than I feel" tone of voice. Nodding gratefully as Bastille's leader offered him a seat, he briefly scanned the room for any fellow members of his team.

None yet. Turning back to the three, he raised an eyebrow at Ben's last statement and didn't feel his trademark ahoge morph back into that question mark shape for a brief moment.

"No uniform?"

...

"How does that happen?"

"C-Calculus!?" Emmy ears went up in complete alarm, looking like a frantic animal that was trapped in a cage. "But that's so boring!" She groaned. Before looking at one Amaranth Desire, what caught her attention were the feathers. She moved closer to inspect them.

"Wow, those feathers look a lot like the ones my Dad has!" She exclaimed, "Even the same color!" She reached out to paw at a feather, her tail swaying with curiosity. She made it no secret that her dad was a Hawk Faunus, what were the odds that a Hawk Faunus would be at Beacon too?

Luke Schwarz -- Hold up

Wait.

"...Your dad was an Avian faunus?"

Luke's mind grasped at any straw it could to figure this one out. And since they were just about to attend a math class, it looked something like this.

Hawk

+

???

=

Cat?

It found none, and only got itself further lost. Did Faunus really work like that? Was it a 50/50 deal on traits expressed? Was it, dare he say it, like Pokemon, where the Mother was the deciding factor? Was she maybe adopted?

...Should he be this confused on these things? There were a few faunus at his high school, but, granted, he was also the rare hermit-type person for three out of four years.

"Either the universe is playing a cruel joke on me or some laundry boy is desperate to see me try to wear a male uniform," she said, shaking her head. "Honestly, at this point... Like to attract a little less attention. Past my quota. So for now... Stuck with normal clothes."

Her attention turned to the Cat faunus, a learned reflex causing her to hop away from Emmy instinctively. "S-sorry..." She tried to regain composure."Just not used to people touching them."

"I think they pulled out most of the stops for me. Didn't want me walking around in a jacket and tank top. 'Specially after the admissions people learned I left my bag with all my tank tops with my brother at Signal."

Lauren shrugged and prepared herself for a big old nap through the first half of Calculus. Hopefully Amy or Ben wouldn't think to snap her out of it...unless she was somehow concussed, and they needed to snap her out of it. What if she became a vegetable? Not only would she never become a Huntress, not only would Desire raid her chocolate stash, not only would no one ever coax Sangue out of her shell, but Ben would blame himself! He'd be depressed for years! He'd grow emo bangs!

She couldn't let that happen. Not while she was the very last letter in Team BASL.

Hey. Concussion. Dick off.

Emmy was surprised when the Hawk had hopped away from her. "Oh sorry! I didn't mean to startle you! You really have feathers like my dad though!" She grinned, before look at Luke, who had asked her about her Dad. She nodded at him.

"Yep! My mom is a cat Faunus and my dad is a hawk, can you guess which one I take after?" She giggled, the dread of calculus forgotten for the moment. It was easy to forget when she had all these wonderful people surrounding her! They were so interesting!

"Don't go to sleep, Lauren." BASL's leader commented, shaking her shoulder lightly. He gave Amy a half smile that managed to be both sympathetic, and if he were perfectly honest, really amused at her predicament. "I'll see if I can get something requested. It's ridiculous that you've gone so long without a proper uniform."

After glancing at the assorted reactions to the idea of calculus, ranging from dismayed to apathetic, he gave a wider grin. "Anyone here done Calculus before?"

"Ermph." Lauren huffed and crossed her arms over her midriff. "Yeah, yeah. I'm awake. Hope you're happy."

And he clearly was happy. Just looking at the dumb grin on her team leader's face as the reactions to calculus sank in around them was...grrrrrr.

"If you start charging us for answers, I'll kill you and make her leader in your place, IsweartahGod."
