Karina Frost

It was obvious that Chres was wounded. Even if he said that he would somehow deal with it Karina still kept looking at him with a serious expression. Things would already get harder from now on. Taking care of wounds was something neither of them could have the luxury of doing right now.

As Chres started to make another heat construct though, he turned to Octavio, asking about familiars. It was then that Karina realized that the little annoying familiar that was with him wasn't there with them. By what Chres said, something had happened to her. But before Octavio could answer Chres, or even before Chres himself could end his sentence, a small movement on the corner of Karina's eyes caught her attention. Karina wasn't the only one that noticed, but Chres was faster in telling her that there was someone climbing the roof. But this time, Chres forgot to use her 'nickname', the one that Gin gave her, instead calling her by her name...

Karina's attention was divided between looking at her own group, watching their reactions after Chres said her name and looking at the dark skinned girl climbing the roof. Karina's rapier was unsheathed as she looked to both sides. Although she was paying a bit more attention at the dark skinned girl, whom she considered to be a bigger threat, she also had an eye on her group. Fortunately for Karina, or maybe unfortunately, she wasn't wrong in doubting her own group. Hark was quick to pull out his knife, pointing it at her throat.

Immediately pointing her rapier towards Hark, she simply smiled as she heard his words. Her expression didn't show surprise, fear or anger... It was a frighteningly calm and cold expression, her eyes focused on Hark with a piercing stare as the air around her started to get colder and colder. Her rapier's blade was so cold that a white mist could be seen getting out of her blade.

"Bigger problems?" Karina asked as Hark turned his back to her to speak with Chres. The second he did so, Hark would see two ice blades forming behind Chres, pointing towards Hark as the other two were nearby Karina, pointed towards the direction where the dark skinned woman was coming from.

"You shouldn't turn your back so easily to a person you just threatened." Karina said with the ice blades ominously pointing towards Hark.

"Do you think you can simply point your dagger to me and expect me to do nothing? You just made an enemy, Hark. Even though we are surrounded by enemies on all sides, you choose to make another one. Foolish choice. I can't keep working together with someone that might stab me in the back at any moment." Karina said.

Without taking her eyes from Hark, she pointed the two remaining ice blades towards the dark skinned woman.
"Someone, keep an eye on the dark skinned woman on the building behind us." Karina said. She could only hope someone would understand their situation and do that... Both Hark and the dark skinned woman were potential threats now and she could only trust Chres, who was currently wounded... She couldn't focus her attention at both of them at the same time.

Everyone on that group was a stranger to Karina. Ironically enough, the one she suspected the most was the closest thing to an 'ally' she had. Chres knew who she was and choose to stay quiet about it. Either he didn't care or he knew how to evaluate their situation at that moment and realized that it would be better for both of them to work together.

"I am Karina Frost. Cpt. Karina Frost. Military of the nation of Touch. I am here to gather more information about the cult. That is all that you need to know regarding me for now." Karina said, loud enough for everyone in the group to hear. She expected that they understood what her words meant. If her intentions were other, she would have brought an entire division to invade this town.

"We are- I am already surrounded by enemies in all sides. One more won't make a difference. I can either kill you right here, losing a potential ally, but also eliminating a threat or we can work together to get out of this mess alive." Karina said. Her words and her expression indicated that what she said wasn't an empty threat. She was giving a real choice to Hark.

"Look around you, Hark. The Cult already has its roots deep within your country... If it's still your country and not the Cult's country that is..." Karina said, still pointing her rapier and two of the four ice blades towards Hark.

"They are a far bigger threat than any of the sides of this war are to another... I am here in this mission to try and make my superiors realize this..." Karina completed. She hoped that the others on the group would hear her. They all needed to work together if they wanted to have better chances to get out of the town alive... Starting a fight amongst themselves was a quick way to drop their chances of survival to near zero.

"Now... How we will solve this predicament, Hark? I can't trust you anymore. We have little time until the cultists realize what happened and come after us." Karina asked, with a cold, emotionless voice.
Nina

@Hekazu

Nina simply smiled after she saw the waitress looking at her up and down, deciding if she should trust her story or not. Nina had already made business with other gangs before, so she was kind of accustomed with that. It was always somewhat a tense situation when an outsider was on a gang's hideout. She still remembered how nervous she was on the first times she made business with other gangs. With time though, Nina learned that keeping a smile on her face was the best tactic to disarm any possible hostile intentions and to simply made negotiations easier overall. Differently from the waitress though, the barkeeper was much more talkative, not only complimenting her saying she didn't look like a 'combat zone' girl but also trying to sell her a drink.

"Well... Appearances can be deceiving..." Nina replied to the barkeeper, giving him a mischievous wink. As she looked at him though, she realized that indeed she indeed didn't looked like someone who would have business on the combat zones, especially thanks to the pretty clothes she was wearing. Not even her biocybernetic legs could help her a bit to look more like a 'combat zone gal' as the barkeeper said.

"I thank you for your offer, but I'm afraid it wouldn't be a good idea to drink before making business." Nina said with a chuckle after he asked if she wanted to buy something.

After a few moments, a bare chested man with diving goggles came to take her to his bosses, whom one of them was probably Ribby, she supposed. Following the limping man, Nina was careful to make a mental map of the bar and where he was taking her. Not only that, but she also noticed that the handgun he was using was the same model the police used to give to their lower ranking officers.

Upon being introduced by the limping man, who promptly left her alone with Ribby and another man, Ribby went straight to the point, asking her about what she knew about Lt. Davison. Nodding towards the other man and sitting down on the chair he offered her, she simply listened as both men talked.

"Lt. Davison..." Nina repeated, sighing.

"It wasn't easy to get any information about that man, you know? It's almost like he completely vanished from the face of the earth... Nobody seems to know anything about him and if they know, they never say it wanting to monopolize the information for themselves... One thing made me curious about him though... It seems that a lot of things someway or another are connected to him... Especially regarding classified equipment... Not the kind that you would find laying around anywhere..." Nina said, carefully watching the men's reactions as she spoke. Albeit she was being delicate about all that, she knew very well that not only their, but the situation to all gangs was like a powder barrel... It would only take a small spark for things to turn into complete chaos. Ribby as well, probably knew that.

"Regarding the payment... Money is always welcome... A girl needs to have some spare money not only to buy some clothes, but some... 'accessories' as well, am I right?" Nina said, looking to both men with a cheerful smile and a small laugh as she analyzed their reactions.
Lila Moriarty

@Rai @13org

The servant's words left a bitter taste on Lila's mouth as he simply left, locking the door behind him. She knew it was unavoidable. If she wanted to have her own life, if she wanted to change how her life was until now, she would have to make enemies. But still... It was a difficult situation to deal with, since the servant was kind to her when they met.

"At least I'm not alone anymore..." Lila said with a sad tone, gently caressing Virais, who was on the bed nearby her.

Virais himself didn't know what was happening. He didn't know why Lila was on that dusty, dark room or why they were locked there, but he could feel the sadness within Lila's voice. Unfortunately, the only thing he could do for her was trying to comfort her with his presence.
Nudging Lila's hands with his snout, he walked closer to her, resting his head on Lila's lap as he laid down on the bed nearby her. But that calmness, that comfort Virais presence brought to Lila wouldn't last for much longer...

One hour later, the door opened once more. But this time, instead of the Nayu servant from before, the ones who came for her were Nero soldiers, with their blades drawn and with crossbows on their hands. After chaining Virais to one of the stone walls on that room, they turned to Lila, finally speaking with her. Their only word to Lila was for her to go with them. Lila herself didn't have much choice. Even though she wanted Virais to be with her, it was improbable that they would hear her, especially as they had their weapons drawn as they came closer to her.

Leading her through a dark, narrow hall, Lila knew that there was something wrong... Why would they escort her like that, with weapons drawn, like a prisoner? Her thoughts would only be confirmed after she arrived on her destination. Behind big doors, Lila was led by the soldiers inside a big hall, where many Nayu elders sat on rows of chairs, one higher than another, all of them looking straight towards Lila, watching every movement she made. Amongst them, Lila could see Anui, sitting besides his mother, who had a wicked smirk on her face.

After a few moments of silence, the elders spoke to Lila.
"You are under trial for the accused murder of dozens of Nero royals whilst under the banner of the Aion. You are also accused of manipulating a royal with intent to extort. How will you plead?" they said, making Lila look around with a confused expression for a moment before her blood started to boil.

Why were they doing that to her? She was with Anui the entire time, she didn't lift a finger on that night that the Aion came... She wasn't even notified that something like that would happen...

If that wasn't enough, she heard Dextra's voice, under a wicked smirk, saying her blood would flow that night.

With her emotions going wild on her mind, she could only look at Anui, who was simply sitting there besides his mother, in silence, without saying anything. Why wasn't he saying anything? He knew what happened... He saw everything, he was with her...

"Anui... Tell them what happened. I was with you the entire night..." Lila said, with a mix of confusion and anger on her eyes.

"I... I didn't lift a finger that night... Why...?" Lila said, looking down for a brief moment, before looking to Anui once more. This time, her eyes were hard and cold. Was she wrong in believing him? Why... Was she really not allowed to be happy? Was her only allowed to be a weapon, a tool her entire life? Why was all that happening to her.

"SAY SOMETHING!" Lila shouted, looking to Anui.

"Please... Say something..." She said once more as tears rolled down her face. Her vision was blurred due to the tears, her skin, red and hot with anger... Her tears felt like they were made of flames as they rolled down her face, a painful reminder of how foolish she was, of how naïve she was... Everything that would happen that moment onwards was only her fault... Her fault for believing she could be happy... Her fault for believing she would be accepted by others... Her own fault for trusting others...

Dark thoughts flooded her mind, almost like there was a small voice on the back of her head, mocking her for being such an idiot. While what was happening, the situation that moment was as clear as ice, Lila still didn't want to believe... She still had hopes Anui would say something... He loved her... right? He said he loved her... He promised he would stay with her...

"You... promised... me..." Lila mumbled to herself, biting her lower lip making a drop of blood roll down her chin.

Sophia

@Rai @13org

Even though Sophia didn't have much time to sate her curiosity regarding some of the kings and queens at the meeting, or even get to know better the group who would be responsible for fetching the godsmith's hammer, things went in a satisfactory way. They now had a plan to fight back the threat that approached them and for the first time in many years, the kings and queens were joining forces.

But as Sophia's mind went back to the Temple and how things went while she was away, unexpectedly, Vrondi interrupted her. His figure floating in front of her with his arms crossed, blocking her path as he apologized for not being able to give her the respect she deserved, while saying he needed to speak with her in private.

"Difficult and trying times approach us, there is no need to apologize." Sophia said, looking at Vrondi with a curious expression, uncertain what he had to speak with her.

His next words were honestly... Surprising. Even if it was Vrondi, Sophia wasn't expecting he would say something like that... He wanted to test her, to see if she was able to defend herself or he would keep her there to protect her.

Without more words, Vrondi erupted in light as he hurled a massive orb of energy towards her, glowing like a second sun. Letting out a fearsome breath attack, a beam of concentrated plasma got out of her mouth, clashing against Vrondi's attack. After some time, her chaotic magical energy clashing against Vrondi's pure light energy, fighting against multiple clones, Vrondi slowed down, apologizing for his actions. Sophia knew Vrondi was holding himself back, as Sophia herself was. Both of them were incredibly powerful, Sophia herself didn't know who would win if they fought seriously, but both sides would be incredibly wounded and the land would suffer if they indeed clashed seriously.

While Sophia could, in part, understand his desire to 'test' her power, she couldn't hide her disappointment. It seemed that even Vrondi, after all, respected only power. Sophia wouldn't back down after he challenged her like that, but she strongly disagreed with his actions. They should be conserving strength for the oncoming conflicts they would have to face... not fighting against each other...

As Vrondi started talking, Sophia said nothing, simply looking at him with hard and cold eyes, clear indications that she was disappointed and strongly disagreed with what had just happened.
Sophia heard as he continued talking, while she knew that there were cold places on both ends of the world, she always thought they were empty, desolate places. So Vrondi's next words surprised her. He claimed that on one of them, there were crystal structures of unknown origin or design. While he said he couldn't feel life as he stood far from it, he said that once he approached them, he saw that inside those crystal structures, laid dormant an unknown being, likely summoned ages ago... and on the very core of this unknown being, he could still feel signals of life... Almost like if it was simply in slumber, waiting for it to be awakened once more.

Sophia looked at Vrondi with her eyes wide open, as he said to her that that 'thing' tried to communicate itself with him, speaking in a chaotic, unknown tongue. Even though he moved it to the moon, the thoughts of merely trying to communicate with it once more filled Vrondi with dark, twisted memories. While Nuxta, despite his dark, twisted ideals, was still a divine, that thing Vrondi found wasn't divine. It was simply chaos. Chaos Enigma, as Vrondi called. Disappearing as suddenly as he came, Vrondi left Sophia with her own thoughts.

While in part, she was extremely curious about that... Chaos Enigma, she felt inside her a weird feeling... Something inside her was saying that this Chaos Enigma was completely different from the confrontation with Nuxta... If somehow that thing freed itself, not even Nuxta would be safe...

"This... needs to remain a secret... Nor Nuxta nor anyone should know about it..." Sophia mumbled to herself. It was almost like the very Grimorium Verum knew that the Chaos Enigma should remain forever asleep, lest they wanted to face complete, unavoidable chaos.

I'm still here...

Nina

@Hekazu

As Nina got out from the shower, she calmly walked towards the bed, stopping in front of the locked chest in front of her bed, where she kept her crossbow and the armored suit, she took a brief moment looking at it. On top of the chest were a tight, long sleeved turtleneck sweater with white and black horizontal stripes and black jeans, carefully folded. Wearing only her underwear, she grabbed the black jeans, putting it in front of her legs while standing in front of the mirror, admiring her figure for a brief while. Her athletic body with perfect dimensions, her firm muscles and even her bio-cybernetic legs, displaying an exotic, unique beauty drew a fair bit of stares.

"Maybe tomorrow..." Nina said to herself in a disappointed tone, remembering about the reservation on the La Croix restaurant she would miss, but as she looked to the sweater and the jeans again, she hesitated for a bit before finally taking them. If she was going on a gang's place, going with casual clothes would be much better than going with a freaking armored suit... It would be much more... respectable and fitting with the code of conduct an outsider should have when going inside a gang's hideout and it would attract less attention... Well... it would attract a lot of attention, but not the wrong type...

"And I deserve wearing something pretty every now and then, right?" Nina thought to herself with a giggle as she finished wearing the clothes she had separated, standing in front of the mirror admiring her figure with a satisfied smile.

She had planned to commemorate her birthday that day before receiving a call from a man called Ribby, from the Colonel's Corner Amphibians about a possible job. She even had a reservation for the La Croix restaurant on the City Center, which she could afford thanks to a job she completed earlier in that week that gave her a bit of spare money but she couldn't afford to pass up a good opportunity to obtain some valuable intel.

While her financial situation was honestly... far from perfect, spending a little bit once per year to have a fun, relaxing day was something she could do. Wearing beautiful clothes instead of armor and forgetting about any job was good not only to relieve her stress, but to her self esteem as well, after all... Not being able to talk with anyone about her old life and having to keep that a secret was pretty stressful sometimes.

The apartment she was renting was located in a pretty discreet part of the town. Cheap due to the proximity to dangerous districts, it's residents were mostly families or old people who didn't have enough money to go to a safer part of town. It was the perfect place for Nina to hide due to the fact that most gangs had an unspoken honor rule to not mess with the people of that building. The old gatekeeper, who coincidentally was also the landlord, was a man that most inhabitants liked due to always having a smile on it's face. While his job as a 'guard' was merely symbolic, seeing as due to his age he wouldn't be able to fight even against a lowly thief, people knew that whoever messed with him would attract a lot of attention. In that city replete with violence, the 'Old Albert' as he was known, was a proof that there were still kind people alive on that city.

"Hey missy! Getting out again? Ye looking mighty fine lass!" Nina heard the familiar voice from the old gatekeeper and a hearty laugh as she got down the stairs, approaching the lobby.

"Thanks Albert!" Nina said with a kind smile and a chuckle to the old man. As she stopped on the lobby to greet him.

After looking to her and seeing she wasn't wearing her armor, Nina could see the worried expression on his face, partially hidden behind his thick mustache.
"Just... be safe, ya hear? Honest, carefree smiles such as yours are rare to find nowadays... Oh, and happy birthday!" Old Albert said looking at her with a worried expression, as he handed her a silver necklace with a small, cute silver fox pendant.

"It's not much but I hope you like it." the old man said, with a kind smile looking at her.

"Thank you... A lot." Nina said, going over the counter and hugging the old man tightly for a moment before wearing the necklace and heading out.

Getting on the bar that Ribby indicated wasn't that difficult for Nina. Few were the people that could keep up with her as she moved through the Night City's combat zones, thanks to her speed and how silently she moved herself while avoiding unnecessary conflicts. Being an information broker/runner meant that Nina was mostly regarded as 'neutral' in the gang's eyes, doing business with all of them. That didn't mean she was trusted or seen as an ally, but differently from the others on that same line of work, Nina had an advantage regarding those matters... Her cheerful behavior, smile and innocent appearance made others quickly dismiss her as not posing a real threat, thus, trusting her a bit more.

While the Colonel Corner's Amphibians weren't an overly aggressive gang, Nina was still careful walking through their territory. She had already made business with other gangs before and she knew how... tense things could get regarding the more... aggressive gangs. Since she didn't knew that well if the Amphibians were one of those, when she arrived on the bar, she was sure to show them that she wasn't armed... Not that she would able to hide something using those clothes but the intention was more important.

"Hey, would you know where I could find Ribby? He was the one that invited me. Said he wanted to talk about some things." Nina said, waiting for the waitress' answer.
Bast Ragoczy

Most of the warriors Bast was fighting were easy to deal with. None posed much of a threat as Bast played with them without even unsheathing his sword. It simply wasn't needed... Their movements lacked grace and elegance... They moved just like if they were acting on instinct alone... In the other hand, as Bast looked to his companions, it seemed like their opponents were in a different level than the rest...

The one Titanica was fighting, according to George, was a ronin. Bast had already heard about those... Warriors from the eastern lands. They lived by the blade... and died by it. While lacking in brute strength, their speed and technique were unparalleled... So much that myths and stories about their blades moving like lightning were common to hear from other warrior's mouths. Titanica, who apparently had a lot of brute strength was obviously having a bit of trouble in dealing with that opponent. His quick movements and reflexes could easily parry Titanica's powerful blows, while counterattacking at the same time.

The one Eilidh was fighting was a Gladiator. They were famous for being very aggressive, quick and brutal. Artists with a weapon, their fights were almost like performances. Every drop of blood, sweat, every wound inflicted, every movement was made thinking about their audience.
Unfortunately for Eilidh, the gladiator was already expecting her charging at him, dodging her attack with a swift movement and piercing her equine body with his trident. The wound, albeit superficial, was bleeding profusely. Bast knew Eilidh was a proud warrior and he knew that interfering could possibly hurt her pride, but he wasn't going to stay still watching her bleed.

Calmly walking towards the gladiator, who was too busy focused solely on Eilidh, Bast gave a quick stab with his cane on the gladiator's knee, jumping to the side with a fluid, graceful movement shortly after in case he tried to counterattack. Albeit it wouldn't pierce his skin, seeing how his cane sword was sheathed, it would deliver a sharp wave of pain and make him kneel for a brief second, giving Eilidh enough time to recover herself.

"Would you accept some help, mein liebling?" Bast asked, with a smile towards Eilidh.

"Dodging an attack like that, so full of fighting spirit and not facing it head on... Don't you think it was extremely rude of your part?" Bast said to the gladiator, looking at him with a mischievous smile as he snapped his fingers.

The second he did so, small rectangles around the gladiator were made with light, flipping themselves revealing an arcane card, appearing out of thin air. These cards weren't moving, instead, they were forming a thin wall nearby his shoulders, the size and width of the gladiator made of only a few cards reinforced with magic, following him as he walked. While those cards wouldn't hurt him, whenever he tried to dodge Eilidh's attacks, they would restrict his movements, forcing him to either take her attacks head on or block them.

"My dear Eilidh, be careful. He is an experienced warrior." Bast said, nodding to Eilidh with a serious stare. Bast didn't want to hurt Eilidh's pride as a warrior so he only gave her a little help, but the second things started looking too dangerous, he would interfere. It was an delicate situation... He wanted to protect Eilidh, but she wasn't a defenseless princess. Eilidh was a warrior. She had her own pride. Stepping in and fighting for her would most definitely hurt her pride.

"Regarding you, Ronin..." Bast said, walking a few steps, standing right between where the two fights were happening.

"I am sincerely impressed with your movements... But I think they lack a certain... grace..." Bast said with a smirk, raising his cane and hitting the ground with it, lifting dust. The cloud of dust moved to where the Ronin was, solidifying themselves and turning into arcane cards. These, unlike the ones around the gladiator, they were floating in the air motionlessly, almost like they were frozen. If the Ronin tried to move himself in bursts of speed around Titanica like he was doing, he would have to dodge not only her blows, but the cards as well, lest he wanted to suffer dozens of small cuts from the cards' edges.

"Now... Can you dance to the music or your own agility will be turn itself into your worse enemy?" Bast said, tapping his cane on the ground and giving Titanica a silent nod. It wasn't like he was trying to stay there without doing anything, but he was assuming Titanica was a warrior herself, even though he didn't know her that well... The situation both Titanica and Eilidh were facing was a duel. Duels had an unspoken set of rules and honor behind them that every warrior, every gentleman knew and respected. Interfering in a duel, even if you had good intentions, was something that could be considered a serious offense to the warriors involved.

"Now... I haven't forgotten about the rest of you..." Bast said turning to the remaining warriors, unsheathing his cane sword.

"Lets hope you learned anything from your previous attempts at attacking me... This time, your mistakes will have consequences." he said, getting ready to fight them. There were only a few opponents remaining, but Bast had to be careful to keep an eye at Eilidh and Titanica. If things got too dangerous to either one of them, he would dash in.

Freyr

The situation was confusing and it could be accurately described as 'bizarre'... But a request was a request, and that specific request didn't seem to be that hard. Despite the couple's... weird tastes and fixation for nobles... Especially for their trash... They simply asked for arrows from the Zipanguese archers that would take part in the competition.

Looking at Ditzy as he talked, Freyr could help but let out a discreet chuckle when he advised the couple they should wash their hands. Ditzy was very honest. Despite being a bit naïve, he was a good person.

Looking to the rest of the group, Freyr, after thinking a bit about what the couple had asked, he got an idea.

"I don't want to brag or anything... But I quite literally was raised with a bow in my hand... If you agree, and if we find a way to, I could get in this competition... Maybe I would be able to get one of those arrows...?" Freyr asked, waiting for their answer.

@PaulHaynek @Restalaan
Ehri Khan

@Athol@Arthanus@Sync@Lyla

Ehri was honestly surprised when Hafrbjǫrn started talking. His words were firm and serious, but he spoke no half truths. Their enemies were dangerous, but also so were them. Albeit he was serious about that warning, his words were also encouraging, strong. Ehri could feel that he wasn't talking all that vainly. His words carried his honor, his pride, his heart.
Even though Ehri had only met that man, she somehow knew she could trust that man even in life threatening situations. Yui Ren, one of the other members that was in the same group as Ehri, also seemed to think the same way as she did.

When they arrived at the western residential district, they quickly realized that the situation wasn't good. The fire was already spreading and even though there were a few adventurers and guards fighting against the orcs, things were obviously not going as they planned. Yui was the first one to move, asking Hafrbjǫrn to help her to climb on a balcony and dropping an orc with a shot of her weapon and making him throw his torch on a second one, sending him running. Although too loud for Ehri's tastes, that gun she was wielding was definitely effective.

Since it was the first time Ehri was working with a group like that, instead of hunting like she usually did with Isa and Misha, she instead decided to hold back a bit. She knew she had to adapt to the fighting style the group had, otherwise things would get confusing for both sides. Besides... They weren't in a forest... Ehri was out of her element inside a city.

With agile and silent movements, Isa went to the sides of the street they were, disappearing under the shadows made by the burning buildings, walls and alleys, stalking the orc group, maintaining a safe distance while watching them and moving in a way she would attack them by surprise. Misha on the other hand was already flying over the orc group, hidden in the dark sky, waiting Ehri's orders.

"I will move when you do." Ehri said, nodding towards Hafrbjǫrn and the rest of the group, going to the opposite side Isa went.

Her movements, even though Isa was a wolf and she was a human, were strangely alike. The way she moved and even her controlled breath as she slowly moved always maintaining her aim on them and a safe distance as she watched every movement the orcs made. The orcs would most probably be focused on the group in front of them and wouldn't notice Ehri positioning herself to ambush them together with Isa. Once in position, Ehri stood motionless in an alley as the orcs approached Hafrbjǫrn and the others, passing by Ehri and Isa without noticing them.
Karina Frost

It took a few moments for Karina to regain her breath as she waited for Chres to come back. Holding the flames like what she did back in the inn, surrounded by flames was really taxing on her body, but once she got out, the temperature drop helped her quite a bit.

The moment Chres came back, jumping out of the fading heat construct, Karina was already waiting for him. She didn't knew why it took him so long, but his heavy breathing, expression and the fact that he was limping told her that something almost went wrong. Luckily, the risk Chres took coming back there wasn't for nothing. He managed to get eleven jade candles. Together with the two Karina got from her own room, they could probably manage to do something to help them hide from the cultists for a bit longer. It all depended on luck but still... It was better than nothing.

"Thirteen with the ones I got from my room." Karina replied to Chres, correcting him.

Karina simply watched as Chres hastily built another heat construct. This time, it was more fragile than the previous one. They didn't have much time.

"Can you still run, Chres?" Karina asked, carefully looking down to see if the cultists had any idea of where they went.

"Try to preserve your strength... Things will only get harder from now on..." Karina said, looking to Chres as she waited for the innkeeper and his family to cross the bridge. The second they did, Karina crossed it with agile and swift movements.

"They will soon find out what happened... We may need to fight..." she said again, with a worried expression as she rested her hand over the rapier's ornamented hilt. Now that she wasn't literally surrounded by flames, she would be able to use her magic more freely... But still... What she said to Chres was true... She also had to save her strength as much as possible...
