I've just realized that in all the 9 years I've been part of this site, I've never had to change my name, make an alt account or anything like that!

"Humanity takes great pride in three things. Their willpower, their greed and their mortality.

Their will and endless greed allows them to grow and ascend past other creatures
But their mortality denies them divinity

It's a delightful purgatory between being Fallen and being Divine"

Ashkevron Residence in Askavi

Mikhail had no idea if that level of tension was 'common' on that household, but he wasn't able to ignore it like Fatima and Artemis were doing. Due to his line of job and how he lived for years and years, he was incredibly sensitive to things like those and knew how to 'read the air' very well. His eyes were still the same of a minute ago, jumping from person to person.

Surprisingly enough, when Lucivar was finished with the venomous words he turned to Mikhail himself, mentioning that seeing a Dea Al Mon in those parts were rare and asking what brought him there.

"I heard rumors about a Black Widow with unparalleled abilities..." Mikhail replied, carefully observing Lucivar's reactions and movements as he approached him.

"She seems to be the only one capable of treating my... condition." Mikhail finished, still incredibly alert. Despite his apparent calm and even though he was still sitting down at the table, if an experienced warrior took a closer look at his muscles, especially his legs, they would see that they were coiled like a snake, ready to move at the smallest sign of danger.

In that alert state, Mikhail couldn't help but to hear how the Eyrien brothers were describing Faeril... Only one more reason to not leave his guard down... But not even Mikhail was prepared to what would come next...

Without raising her voice not even once, Fatima, who also seemed to be tired of all that, proved that she was more than capable of dealing with the other males when she started using her power. Despite her soft and gentle voice, it was clear not only by the forced smile on her face that she was giving him a command. Both the way she talked and her presence made clear that she wouldn't admit anything but compliance to the order she had just gave. It was indeed surprising to someone as sweet as Fatima to take such a posture.

But maybe what surprised Mikhail the most was when she walked towards Mikhail. Almost if realizing how on edge he was despite his silence, without saying a word, she slipped on his lap, wrapping her arms around his neck and looking to his face for a moment. It wasn't necessary to use any type of power or even say anything. Mikhail almost immediately became completely stiff. He didn't knew how to react on that situation. How was he, who only touched others to kill, was supposed to react when she simply embraced him like that, looking at his face with such a calm and sweet expression?

Still sitting in his lap, Fatima proceeded to reprimand the other males. When she finally stood up and left his lap to speak with Lucivar was when Mikhail realized how much power and influence that woman already had over him... And he didn't like that not even one bit. She was by no means a bad person, she was actually one of the kindest woman he had ever met, even when she was mad. But still, old habits die hard and trusting others was a very difficult thing for Mikhail.

Freyr

Freyr didn't seem to be the only one that was disappointed with Bartholomew's attitude. Even though he was already a room away, he could still hear Titanica's angry voice as Bartholomew walked away, clearly stating she should have killed him. Freyr couldn't really blame Titanica for those harsh words, in fact, he did understand why she was like that... Freyr himself was incredibly disappointed with him, but not to the point of saying such words.

But a familiar voice called him from behind, interrupting his thoughts. As he turned around he was surprised to see that the owner was no one else than Haley, the siren, asking where he was going. Even though she had been treated so badly by Bart, she still kept a smile on her face as she tried to make a joke out of the situation, clearly trying to forget about all that while at the same time, completely oblivious of Freyr's true intentions.

"I... misjudged him. I might have misjudged humans as a whole race..." Freyr said with a long sigh after she finished talking. She had a point, he indeed felt like he did the right thing by saving those people, especially already knowing how cruel and ruthless the Varjans really were, but nothing justified how Bartholomew acted. He didn't care about what was the right thing to do. He didn't care about the prisoners. He only cared about his safety and his own objectives... After all... He never asked if everyone was safe after they returned.

"Selfish... Greedy... Self destructive... They lack respect for their own... The don't value anything but their own desires. Not even life." Freyr said, after a long sigh.

"Maybe the elders were right... A Viera belong to the woods." Freyr finished, looking down.

A few steps away from him, just as he finished speaking, Titanica seemed to being having a reunion with an old friend. After a few words, they hugged each other, happy to see one another. He happened to hear a bit about their conversation, about how they were Kaijus, a race that was supposed to be extinct a long time ago. Unlike others who were really surprised by that, Freyr wasn't that much affected. After all, the Vieran Woods were filled to the brim with ancient magic, ruins and powers. The Viera were a really old race, but their knowledge far outdated their own race's age as a whole due to their unique link to the nature.

"I wonder if the woods will welcome back with open arms again." Freyr mentioned after seeing that scene, with a distant stare.

But before Haley could reply, a second voice called his name. It was Ditzy, who came walking towards Freyr with a smile on his face, waving his hands as he asked how Freyr's job was. Noticing the way Freyr was heading, he asked with a curious expression where he was heading and if he could follow.

Ditzy was a good boy. He was innocent and pure, he truly didn't have an ounce of malice on him and always saw the good side of everything, ignoring the bad. Maybe that was for the best... His heart would surely shatter if he knew how cruel humans could be.

"It was... gratifying. At least for me." Freyr replied with a distant smile, gently patting Ditzy's head. When he asked where he was going though, his smile disappeared.

"I... You should go rest, Ditzy. It was probably a really long day for you too, just as it was for me, wasn't it?" Freyr said, with a smile.

If Ditzy heard what Freyr was talking to Haley, he probably could figure out what was happening.

Karina Frost

With a curious expression, Karina listened as Týfurkh told her to stay where she was after her questions about his plan. Without understanding very well what he was trying to do, she simply watched as he walked away till he was a bit further from her position than he was before. Strangely enough, he simply started talking, asking if she was able to hear him clearly.

Nodding, as per his request without actually saying a word, she heard him calling Chres and asking for him to raise his hand if he was hearing her. Initially she didn't understand what he was trying, but the second that she realized that Chres didn't even react to Týfurkh calling him as he continued talking with Octavio, her curious expression immediately changed to a surprised one.

When he finally explained in further details what Karina already started to hypothesize about, she couldn't help but let out a satisfied smirk. That would indeed solve every single problem they had regarding communicating themselves with the Forward Base.

"This solves most of the problems we had regarding contacting the Military of Touch's forward base." Karina said, with a clearly satisfied tone in her voice.

Coincidentally, DB also seemed to be paying attention to what her and Týfurkh were talking about, as it became evident when he offered himself to help them as soon as Týfurkh had finished explaining his skills and plan.

"More help is always welcome." Karina said, with a nod towards DB.

"The only question now is when to put your plan in action, Týfurkh. Maybe it should be best to rest for a while first." Karina said, looking to them.

"Since there's no difference between day or night anymore and especially given our current situation, it would be rather easy for us to ignore our bodies' limits and get too exhausted. The time we have to rest isn't much and it's precious." Karina finished, looking to both DB and Týfurkh, waiting to hear what they were thinking about that.

Nina

@Hekazu

Nina couldn't help but to agree with Croaks' words despite feeling a bit guilty about them. People from the upper levels didn't respect how tough the life was down there... And she was once guilty of the same thing. She remembered how tough it was for her when... well... When her entire life was turned upside down. When Croaks mentioned her collecting people who cared about her, she couldn't help but to laugh.

"Oh, but having 'friends' is an important part of my job, isn't it? It helps a lot that most people see me as a cheerful, happy and even naïve girl and tend to forget that I'm not just an Info Broker..." Nina replied with a chuckle and a mischievous wink.

It was fun on how Croaks, who did not only have that tough appearance of a gang leader but acted like one was slowly acting more friendly towards Nina. She had met him just a few hours ago and now he was following her to a place he didn't know and she did, which was a clear sign that he trusted her. Despite how dumb or suicidal he thought she was, it was undeniable that her way of doing things worked extremely well... Croaks thoughts weren't completely wrong though... While Nina had many people who called themselves her 'friends' the truth was that said 'friendship' was just for her own convenience for at least half of them. But she wasn't going to tell Croaks that, of course...

Nina was honestly curious when Croaks said that disliked bar brawls though. Much to her own surprise, as Croaks continued to explain about why he disliked it, about his gang, his people, it became quite evident that Croaks was more trustworthy than she had previously thought he was. That type of loyalty, trust and how he cared about people who were close to him was something hard to find nowadays...

"Interesting... The way you talk about your crew, how you care about them and trust them... That's not something you can find easily even if you're on higher levels..." Nina said with a discreet smile towards him. Unlike others who worked only for themselves or just wanted money, Croaks was someone she could respect.

When they finally got in front of the storehouse, Croaks turned to her, asking what would be their plans after doing what they needed to do here.

"I did say that they deal with a lot of... 'hard to find' things here at the storehouse didn't I?" Nina asked in a lower tone than before as she continued to walk towards the front door, trying her best to not draw too much attention.

"Alcohol just happens to be one of the least dangerous things they sell." she continued.

"I just need to get some special nanites I ordered and a good bottle of wine and then we can stop somewhere to grab something to enjoy with this wine." she finished, finally getting inside the storehouse together with Croaks.

Inside, the storehouse was just as big as the name implied. Just as they got in, they were greeted by three armed men standing guard nearby a counter protected by steel bars, where a rough looking middle aged man with a synthetic eye quietly stood, waiting for costumers. While at first glance the security wasn't that good further inside the storehouse where products where, if one paid just a bit of attention they would realize that there was literally not a single corner where cameras wouldn't be present and there were armed guards in strategic points. As they walked through one of the long corridors, surrounded by tall shelves replete with pretty much anything one could imagine, ranging from bullets and firearms to cyberware and implants, Nina finally stopped in front of a shelf that was replete with wines, whiskeys and others alcoholic beverages.

"Hm... This one should be fine... It's taste is as good as it's appearance." she said, grabbing a rather fancy looking wine bottle after analyzing a few others.

"By the way, you most certainly wouldn't want to get into trouble here." Nina said as they walked towards the beginning of the storehouse, where the cashier was.

"The security might not look that much, but this place is considered 'neutral grounds' for quite a few gangs, solos & etc. If you try anything funny here, doing anything without being hunted would be basically impossible. Because of that, nobody never tries anything... Everyone knows it's not worth the trouble... That doesn't mean it's safe though..." Nina continued.

"It's a neutral area, sure. Nobody in it's right mind would even take out a knife around here, but still there are a lot of eyes around the Storehouse. You want to get in quickly, get what you want and get out, drawing as little attention as you can. Nothing good comes out of letting others know too much about you..." Nina concluded as they finally got back to the entrance where the same middle aged man was still waiting.

As they approached the cashier, his synthetic eye immediately started moving, scanning both of them before he finally asked what did they wanted.

"These and I ordered a certain canister of nanites." Nina said with a serious tone in her voice.

"Nanites huh... Let me see here..." the middle aged man said, typing in a computer for a few seconds before he turned to one of the guards, obviously saying to keep his eyes on them.

"Order 48F. It's here." The man said, without looking to Croaks or Nina as he walked further behind the counter going to a reinforced door that they didn't even realize that was there previously. A few minutes later, he came back with a steel cannister on his hands, showing it to Nina and putting it inside a small black briefcase and the wine bottles in a regular shopping bag.

"Do you need something?" Nina asked, turning to Croaks as she grabbed the briefcase and the shopping bag with the wine bottles before heading towards the exit.

Ashkevron Residence in Askavi

Mikhail couldn't help but to chuckle as he saw Fatima's reaction after hearing what Gen had said to her. It was interesting to see that despite how tense the atmosphere was just a few seconds ago, Fatima had an undeniable talent in lightening the mood and placating the moods. It wasn't that unexpected though, seeing how she was living together with a bunch of males that seemed to always make everything that was in their power to create trouble. As both Fatima and Artemis helped each other, happily cutting and crushing herbs, Mikhail simply watched with a discreet smile on his face. Both women were so cheerful and acting so innocently that it was almost amusing for him to watch.

But that calmness wasn't going to last for long. After a few seconds, two more residents of the mansion arrived at the kitchen. A female and a male, Lucivar and Andressa as they were called by Fatima who seemed to be particularly happy in seeing Andressa. Unlike the woman though, Lucivar's first words as he arrived were incredibly venomous, directed to Artemis' escort, who had just mentioned something about an attack on Grayhaven and the death of a possible Queen Karlianne. Belor and Gen were also really quick to spew their own venom. Belor with a commentary about Artemis' escort being a Dhemlan, not even trying to hide his irritation and Gen finally saying that Neither Artemis nor her escort would leave until they allowed them to, in what was an obvious threat.

Despite Fatima's attempts to lighten up the mood and make everyone calmer, things didn't seem to go as smoothly as they went before. The tension in the room kept rising, especially now after Lucivar appeared and Gen's threat. Even though Mikhail had nothing to do with Artemis or her escort, he knew very well that Gen's words weren't only for them... Despite Mikhail's silence and apparent calm, if one paid enough attention at his eyes, they would realize that they were much sharper and colder than they were a moment ago and both his posture and muscles were ready for anything. The discreet smile on his face had completely disappeared as his sharp eyes jumped around those present in the kitchen with a predatory stare, reacting at the smallest movement. Other than Fatima and Artemis, who obviously didn't want anyone to fight, every single person present on that kitchen could be considered as enemies by Mikhail. That wasn't a situation that could be controlled anymore. He wasn't going to make anything if it wasn't unnecessary, but if things got worse, he would try to leave peacefully. If someone tried to stop him though, things wouldn't go that nicely.
