A p p e a r a n c e

Ava’s one of those girls that can look beautiful without actually trying. Be it wearing one of her many elegant dresses or simply dressing in casual, skater-esque gear, Ava Brie can work any outfit. This is due to her slender form and good genes - the genes of DiVale-Mossos. Tanned skin with a hint of olive shades and azure mixed in with hazel green, there is hardly any error of her creation. Ava is, quite simply, a remarkable young woman with features that set her apart from her siblings. This is thanks in part to being the only daughter and getting most of her looks from her mother. It also helps that her shade of brown, which seems to hold a lighter shade of brown along with her father’s near-black color, allows her an extra layer of beauty.

Ava is average of height for her age - weight too. Her body is slender and has small amounts of lean muscles. This comes from her keeping up with her diet(on her mother’s behest). She also keeps up with her exercise regime from a personal trainer that works exclusively with her family. He travels with them, so he’s always there whenever they need him. Through that, she keeps her body toned but prefers not to appear overtly muscular. It’s not only because she can’t commit to the “advanced” training, but she has seen women who go through that and simply doesn’t like it.

Her fashion sense is spread throughout. There have been times where Ava’s been known to wear elegant dresses that would make Fashion Week models jealous and also times where they would probably just scoff at how horribly she was dressed. Of course, that comes in the form of her more casual wear. Sometimes raggedy shirts paired with pants with holes in them and sometimes she would just look like another edgy teenager(yes even the Upper Class goes through those stages). Frankly, Ava is a unique girl with a fashion sense that’s just as. It’s definitely varied and explaining it in great detail would take too long. Just know that whatever you catch her in, she’ll doubtless kill it every time.

P e r s o n a l i t y

Prior to her “teenage rebellion”, Ava, like most girls at that age, displayed mannerisms of a well-mannered girl. She was prim, proper, and practically a perfectly-raised daughter, sister, and friend. Following the cliches, she was courteous and kind to those she cares for. She was polite and knew when and when not to speak. More or less the basics of what you’d expect from someone raised in high class. However, somewhere down the line, something happened to change her. No one knows exactly what it was, but one thing was for sure: Ava was never the same girl again.

Throughout the past couple of years, while she still does try to keep up certain aspects of her preteen self, Ava has been displaying certain mannerisms that give the impression that she cares less about public and private perception. Her snide remarks have been more frequent. Her sass is more direct than it was in the past. And her sarcasm - well, let’s just say that it’s unmatched.

Ava’s attitude towards everything tends to be followed by some form of attitude. One wouldn’t say it’s sass per-se, but it’s definitely a close relative to it. Witty a lot of the times and always having something to say, Ava is definitely someone you wouldn’t want to voice her opinion of you. Regardless how you might feel about her — whether you hate or love her — Ava’s opinions are brutally honest and often hurtful. Oh, and she does not have a filter. Obscene language is as if you’re dealing with someone from Jersey. Then again, she has spent plenty of time in Jersey, so who knows? Maybe that’s where she picked it up.

Underneath all of that wit and obscene mannerisms lies something quite genuine and pure; a girl with a heart of gold and all of the love to give. Her model of loyalty is dated back to how the Mafia treats family..just without the blood is thicker than water bit. To her, if she considers you family - regardless of blood - she will show undying loyalty and affection. Her heart will be yours and she will give you everything that she possibly can. When you really get beyond the tough layers, she is simply a girl trying to find love. She has been hurt before and maybe that’s why the outer layers are so thick, but through patience(which is very hard to have with Ava), you’ll get a friend to the end. Like the song goes…

You got a friend in me Ava.

They say looks can kill but did they also say the same about with? Dear Ava, the Crown Princess of the Greek-Italian joint Mob family, Mossos, is one who has both of these things. She’s as likely to slay you with one glance as she is to put you in your place with her unmeasurable wit. How could someone so innocent-looking be so dangerous? Well, let’s look at the facts, shall we? First off, she’s the twin sister of Columbia’s resident Womaniser. The Greek God, the Italian Stallion, the Mossos Man-Meat. These are all names that have been associated with Alexandros Mossos. And Ava? What about her? Well, there isn’t much to tell in that department. Apparently, unlike her family, Ava likes to remain under the radar. Still, nothing is out of my reach. It doesn’t matter which rock she hides under, no stone is left unturned when I’m on the case.

But enough of that, let’s talk about how it was like for Princess Ava to grow up in her twin’s shadow. The great Alexandros Mossos always being talked about left and right and then you have Ava who, by all rights, was someone who just slid by. Where Alex succeeded, she also did - just not as much as her brother. Keeping a pristine reputation kept eyes off of her. Alex always made trouble left and right. She needed to make sure she was the good one. Especially since Eli loved to make things troublesome for everyone. Alexandros did too, but Eli had a way of undoing all of the proper things that Alexandros set in place. So you could imagine that Ava just tried to keep the peace.

But what was she to do when things got really bad? This isn’t just speaking about a night out and causing trouble; this is the real deal, possibly incriminating bad. Oh, poor little rich girl, what she did there..is a story for another time.

To make up for lost time, around her fifteenth birthday, Daddy’s Little Girl decided to adopt a persona of wit and sarcasm. One could say it was because she wanted to get some attention. Perhaps that was her original motivation, but this ended up proving to be Ava’s defining trait. Everyone in her family was all prim and proper in some capacity. It’s more or less like the opening to Powerpuff Girls: Sugar, spice, and everything nice. Everything you need to be perfect, but if you throw in something extra, and it really gets the buzz going. Ava is this something extra. Unlike her brothers, Ava has just a dabble of unexpected shade to throw into conversations.

Like that? Well, let’s then get into how she’s avoided getting into trouble. Yup, that’s right! Ava Brie is a good girl. Her grades reflect as much. Not only that, but even when she’s going out, she’s always in by when her parents tell her to. Though, perhaps she’s a bit too good? She might not know it yet, but my spies are onto her. We know your secrets, Ava Brie. We know about your rendezvous with your brothers’ best friends. We know about your pattern with bad boys. It’s just a matter of time before everyone at Columbia finds out too.

First glances are always that kind of thing that can never be taken back - like the first smell of spring’s breeze. Much like that, Alexandros’ first impression on a lot of people(mostly those of the female variety) tend to be starstruck by the field of cornflower that has taken residence in both of his eyes. Ask anybody who has had the pleasure of meeting him, or might know his family; they’ll say that the Mossos men are known for their brilliant, cerulean pearls. Some say it’s like looking into a field of endless blue skies. Some also say it’s like watching sapphire stones being polished until they are at max shine. Whatever the case, it is undoubtedly the most prominent feature on this young man.

Like most of the men that come from the Mossos line, Alexandros has a full head of dark auburn hair. Some will vouch that it’s just a dark brown, but let’s face it! His mane is more reminiscent to firebrick than it is chocolate; though, that doesn’t mean it can’t be the best of both worlds. Especially not when they say that dark red goes perfectly with blue. Adding to that, his skin is nearly-always flawless. His pores perfectly taken care of and always kept up with. No facial hair either. Alexandros might have that wavy top, but he firmly believes - as well as his father and grandfather - that a young, rising phoenix should be as bare on the face as humanly possible.

In all that is holy, there is a certain amount of expectations that comes with being the heir to the Mossos fortune. As a result, keeping a fit body is one of the requirements that was set in stone for Alexandros. Having been kept in sports for the majority of his life, Alexandros has always been in shape. Ever since he came into puberty, he was put through various diets to see what worked and what didn’t. In those trial and error stages, Alexandros’ body was put through various phases of weight training, cardio, and core training. The result? A body not as scrawny as someone who hadn’t worked out a single day in their life, but not as beefed up as someone who worked out every single day of their life. Somewhere in that sweet spot is where you’ll find Alexandros’ above-average frame with a height not too tall but not too short; a physique that doesn’t show off too much nor does it too little, and most importantly, the silhouette of a young man with a lot to prove and even more to offer.

As much it is expected to have the body of a winner, Alexandros is also expected to dress the part. In that, Alexandros’ entire wardrobe is something straight out of a mafia film. Completely fitting since his family has ties to the Greek mafia. So, one would expect that his entire line of clothing is filled with various suits and elegant wear. Of course there are items for casual instances, but that’s only for when he goes on vacation(non party occasions mind you) and when he goes to the beach. All that aside, Alexandros undoubtedly will be wearing some kind of suit or of-equal-quality outfit whenever he’s in public. Do not expect him to be out of it for any given reason. If he’s going to school, it’ll most likely be an expensive non-suit-looking suit. If he’s going to an elegant restaurant like Ramon’s Bistro, he’ll pick his most expensive Armani. Or if even more special than that, his family’s personal tailor will do one specific for that event. Truth be told.

P e r s o n a l i t y

If Alexandros’ livelihood has given him anything it’s a sense of entitlement. Born into fame and not feeling like he had to work hard to maintain it, Alexandros is naturally arrogant. He expects people to do what he wants them to, not at all thinking that they might not see it his way. This haughtiness he grew up having has produced an overtly-arrogant dominance that would shows a completely disdainful personality - particularly towards those of a lower class. The help(as he calls them) will either come to [him] when they need money. And of course, being the good samaritan that he is, Alexandros would gladly give to charity. As long as they know their place, Alexandros has no problem giving them a handout.

His sense of entitlement doesn’t just stop at the first impressions or demanding people do what he want because of his wealth and fortune. Alexandros is by far one of the most conceited people you’ll ever meet - and he’ll be one to constantly remind you of that. This is especially true when he seeks out female companionship. If he sees someone he likes, be it the way they present themselves or whatever, Alexandros will go after them. And the entitlement he was practically born with will automatically assume that they would want to be in his presence. This, of course, will be cemented into his mind. If he gets rejected, he thinks of it as a game. He loves to play games. He finds the chase to be exhilarating. Being able to claim his prize when he finally wins gives him more satisfaction than seeing the help beg for a handout.

Chasing down some girls isn’t the only fun games that ALexandros likes to play. He also finds enjoyment in other activities that may or may not wind him in jail or somewhere unpleasant. This is because he’s a guy that likes to play fast and loose with the law, never wanting to stop. He’s someone that finds himself always “in the moment”. Most of the time, he doesn’t even think about what he might be doing could be hazardous to his health. This could either be due to his inability to think that Alexandros Mossos could possible get caught, or that he has too much fun, so that he doesn’t really pay attention to what could happen if he slips up. Whatever the case, one thing that his obvious to anyone: Alexandros is a dangerous man..

Especially to those who are around him.

While Alexandros appears a certain way, sometimes appearances are just that. Sometimes there is more that lays beneath the superficial surface. Sometimes it’s more than meets the eye. Don’t get this wrong, Alexandros is very much an arrogant, conceited, entitled douche, but every so often, when that facade wears off, there is another side that could be seen. Not everyone sees this side, for not everyone gets close enough. But push past the walls and maybe Alexandros could appear almost nice. To the few that he might hold a soft spot for, gestures of romance might be one of the new additions. But this is only after certain things happen, but specifically when he gives up the facade of appearances and is really close with someone.

It’s not an impossible feat, but prove to be interesting enough and the games might end.

Move over, Richard Davis, there’s a new bad boy in the Upper East Side - and he’s not only Greek, but also Italian. No amount of money can ever surpass that level of sex appeal. Not to mention he’s a dangerous bad boy. His family may or may not have ties to the Athen’s Mafia. How juicy. And to make matters even more mysterious, his family big money. If they could outbuy HartCorp in a secret hostile takeover, then what does that say about this fine, not-so-gentle man? I would love to find out.

But let’s dig into the life of this new outsider.

His name is Alexandros Stafano Mossos. He comes from money. His father, Baltazar Hektor Mossos is a third-generation businessman. He’s got an elegant mother, Adriana Isabelle Divale who is 100% Italian. Rumor has it she comes from a mafia familia as well. The great DiVale family of Roma. Together, these two spawned three children: Alexandros Stefano, Ava Brie, and Elias Damian. Though they are happily married(I hear the Mossos libito is genetic. Oh lalala~), they have individual business practices. Baltazar owns a chain of nightclubs throughout Europe and the coasts of North America, while Adriana owns a Pharmaceutical Company called “DiVale Pharm.” According to Forbes , the two together tally in approx 30 billion in the last fiscal year.

Talk about loaded.

Given that, the children must be well-endowed and set for life. There is no doubt in my mind, pretties, that the children only go to the finest of school. I mean come on, Upper East-Siders, Elias and Alexandros both were able to get fully-paid tuitions to both Greek High Schools and the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Though, due to the move that the Mossos family made from Athens, the latter two would end up transferring to Columbia. Though, Elias mysteriously dropped out, and hasn’t been seen in six months. Oh well, at least his brother isn’t disappointing the family. Of course, that can all change.

Last tidbits, my loyal followers: Alexandros spells bad news for the Upper East Side. My little spies say that he’s quite the womanizer. If he has his eye on you, I would be on the lookout. They say he’s an ass man and just loves the hispanic hotties. Just ask the trail of women he leaves in his wake..

Over the years, Columbia has gone through several names. Back when it was formed in 1754, it went under the name of King’s
College, said to only be fit for sons of Kings and Queens. One could say that Columbia still adheres to that philosophy. While it
is true that it’s an open-enrollment school, it’s pricey to get in. Should a student want to attend it by paying cash, they would find
that it’ll leave their wallets feeling very empty. However, if you are one of the upper middle class - one that frequents high class fun-
ctions and have formed such bonds - then you might find it easier to get in. After all, New York thrives on connections.

Columbia University is one of eight Ivy League schools that offer the most prestigious and elite education to any that are able. It also houses some of the most elegant balls and charity functions. To those who take their education serious, advance placement in their major will be offered. However, the catch is that only the top five of each subject that Columbia offers may get this placement. And they are the School of Professional Studies, School of the Arts and Sciences, School of Business, School of International and Public Affairs, School of Engineering and Applied Sciences.

One of two dance studios owned by the Huntsberg Family, Chasing Lights is a very high-end studio that caters to various styles of dance, for there are various clientele out there seeking high quality mentoring. If you have the cash to pay for your classes, odds are you’ll be treated to nothing but the best. But be warned. Elisabetta is, if nothing else, strict. Just ask her daughter Audrey, the star pupil of Chasing Lights. As good as she is, she went through hell. There was no leniency for her own daughter, so if you come into this dance studio expecting a walk in the park, probably best to turn back. Only those dedicated and that have the drive to become more than perfection are welcome here.

It towers five stories high with a special tinted windows that hide all light for when it’s daylight out. . Most of the floors are with a color scheme of red and black, and blue and dark violet to further emphasize the gothic atmosphere. Due to said atmosphere, it has luminescent lighting that gives it full lighting and those to be able to see in front of them and most around the club itself, but not too much where it takes away from the overall Gothic feel that the Mossos’ have worked so hard to establish. Each floor is equipped with these kind of bulbs that hang from chandeliers. The furniture are maroon-colored chairs that are placed around a black, round table.there are several of these around the club. Though they face each other at perpendicular, diagonal directions, those that choose to sit in these are not obscured by the stage in the front(or back depending on your perspective).

The stage is often decorated to fall in line with whatever the special theme of that day or week will be. More often than not, there will be some kind of erotic dance number be done or a performance by local artists, as to showcase the spirit of the Upper East Side. Some nights, however, do feature more adult-oriented entertainment such as burlesque dancers. These are the most requested kinds of dancers and are personally the favorite of the owner of Club Delirium, Balthazar Mossos.

Club Delirium took over in the place of a formerly popular joint known as Cerberus Underground. It was bought out by the Mossos Family during their spree of acquisitions along the east coast in the past year. Delirium is simply one that might be their more famous of owned properties.

On the outside, it doesn't look like much. Granted, it's just around the corner of Columbia university. Unless you know about, you probably wouldn't know that Spinkles' Cafe and Bakery is, by all accounts, a quaint little hotspot to those who attend Columbia University. It's known for its innovative baked goods as well as a variety of its take on cafe classics. Freshly baked donuts and bread at sunrise and the most dedicate coffee that you'd swear you were in Cuba having a cup of its finest.

Compared to most cafes, Sprinkles might just be the next big cafe to get its own chain. The owner sure as hell thinks so.

As upscale as upscale gets, Ramon's Bistro, owned by Ramon Mariano, a five-star chef that hails from Rome, Italy. He studied under the great Italian Chef himself, Mario Batali. After working as his sous chef for ten years and traveling across Italy, Greece, and Spain, as well as studying with the French, he made his return to America where he opened up his own restaurant. His bistro serves as the local hangout for those wanting an authentic, Italian experience. Only the finest of ingredients are used and the highest of quality wine is served. It goes as far to emulate popular bistros in Italy as far as the interior is concerned.

For about ten years now, Gossip Girl has been around, reporting on the lives of Manhattan’s Elite. No one knows who Gossip Girl is. SOme rumors claim that the person behind the identity of Gossip Girl was probably a scorned member of Manhattan’s Elite, while others claim it's just someone bored with their own life, so they decided to cause trouble for the Elite. Whoever it is behind that screen, be it a tablet, a phone, or some laptop at a cafe nearby, one thing is clear to everyone who is the topic of one of Gossip Girl’s News Blasts…

No one is safe.

If you are spotted by one of Gossip Girl’s many, many devout followers, be on the lookout. You might be the topic of her next news blast.

The Upper East Side is not for everyone. She’s tough and often unforgiving to outsiders. Should you be lucky enough to be included in a tight-knit group of Manhattan’s Elite, know if you show weakness, you will parrish, for here only the strong survive. The beauties and beasts of the concrete jungle will not show tolerance for frail bodies. If they smell blood, like the Great White, they will seek it out, and destroy without a care in the world.

Like the jungle, the Upper East Side could be thought of as a concrete variety. There is a pyramid that one must remember. The top of the food chain are those who call themselves “Manhattan’s Elite”. While they have different generations that span several decade, one thing has remained the same: power and wealth are what make you a true elite, not whatever half-baked passion or “heart” one might have. Sure, you can aspire to join those who might just be across the hudson river, but unless you can withstand what is to come your way because of your ambitions, you shall simply fall in line.

It’s survival of the fittest, for only the strongest will survive. Do you think you have what it takes? Guess we’ll see about that.

Hello and welcome to Minutes in Manhattan, a Gossip Girl-themed Roleplay. As you have already guessed, this is going to be AU to the original timeline of both the book series and television adaptation it got. In this roleplay, you will be able to get a glimpse into the lives of seven to fourteen members of families that rule the Upper East Side - or at least have ties to them. In this roleplay, mature content may be had. Though, not so mature to be rule-breaking, but shocking things may and will happen on a dime’s notice. So, if that is not your cup of tea, then turn back now.

This roleplay will be mostly located in a combination of the campus of Columbia University and various locations that have to deal with the characters. This may include but isn’t limited to: their dorms, where they live, local hotspots they may visit such as cafes or upscale restaurants, and many more. This will be a roleplay that is going to be handheavy with NPCs as to enrich the story of either the longrun or simply from scene to scene. These NPCs may be staff of Columbia, the siblings and parents of the main characters, or just general NPCs that will be created for the scene.

Minutes in Manhattan is a roleplay that will abide by High Casual posting standards. While novels aren’t going to be expected, at least decent quality of both content and length will be.

The new kids on the block, the Mossos Family, while holding a dominating presence among the mediterranean countries(Greece, Italy, Romania, Spain), they are new to the states. Only for about five years have they been present in the states. Though, that’s mostly on the west coast. Up until the third quarter of 2015, they remained in Los Angeles. However, after acquiring HartCorp - one of the Upper East Side’s leading conglomerate in the import/export business - they took their place along the Manhattan Skyline. Right where HartCorp’s building used to be, it now reads “Mossos”. And leading the charge is fifty-years old Baltazar Mossos, son of Hektor Mossos, who was rumored to be in the running for the Athen’s Hydra Mafia. Those are just rumors, of course.

In the year that they have been in New York City, they’ve been creating waves. SLowly Baltazar Mossos worked his way into the good graces of some of New York’s elite families . Because of their dealings and the areas of business that they mostly dealt in, Mossos has forged business ties with the Cross Foundation, Banks Industries, and DFG Incorporated. By doing so, Mossos has more or less cemented itself among the leading families of the Upper East Side. One can just assume that, wherever HartCorp had its hands and feet in, Mossos would take reigns. The business relationships forged wasn’t a bad starting point at all.

With their various business dealings, Mossos also owns a string of nightclubs throughout the Island of Manhattan. Their most famous one, however, is Club Delirium, which took over a popular nightclub by the name of Cerberus Underground - the club that most in the UES frequented.

Rules

• Follow Guild Rules.
• If it exceeds PG-13, fade to black please.
• Your posts must be 2 paragraphs at least.
• There isn't a posting frequency rule, but if it requires a collab, take it to etherpad or Google Docs.
• The general sense of this RP is to create interactive stories, so don't just stick to 1-2 people. Expand your interactions.
• This will be semi-sandbox with general setups of scenes. This means you have free reign in most areas. Create at your own risk.
  
  • Though, there will be scenes created by the GM team to present a more non-linear arc.
• It shouldn't have to be said, but keep all OOC drama out of public view. Come to me if you have any real issues with anyone, which I sincerely doubt you will. Refusal to do so will result in a warning. Second offense will be a ban from this roleplay.
• And lastly, have fun. I made this RP in an attempt to recreate the fun most of us had in other Slice of Life RPs. This is as much my pet project as it is yours.
