Do you think the reason Jesus Christ doesn't rise again is because we keep putting up crosses and he gets flashbacks on how that went last time?

I will never show empathy for a bigot or a man who believed empathy is a made up term. Simple as that.

By all that was holy and right in the world, Zestasia was ready to throw it down with whatever man, woman, or whatever have you. His fists were armed, glowing radiantly thanks to the light from the sun above and his eyes were focused, narrowed with a stern seriousness that made him appear to be a totally different guy.

But that all changed almost instantaneously when a few things happened. First off was the obvious: the barge had come to a full stop, rocking those who were mobile forward (or backward depending on how far forward/back they were leaning). In Zestasia’s case, his body was hunched slightly forward, so as gravity took over, he took a few tumbling rolls. His body stopped with it hit something solid like a metal of some sort. Truth be told, Zestasia was more focused on trying to regain his footing and enjoying the fact that he now had a raging headache.

Once he was up and on his feet, Zestasia scanned around, his cerulean eyes first looking in front, then to every side possible, and then behind him. Though everything seemed to be relatively normal, it did take him just a moment longer than it would’ve taken the normal person to realize that he was no longer glowing. He didn’t think much of it at first. He did take a hard hit when he crashed into part of the barge, so his focus was off just a tad. “No problem, let me just do something about that,” Zestasia said, gathering his magic.

No good. Nothing came of it.

“Okay, let’s try again.”

And still, nothing came. Did he really use up all of his reserves when activated his Solaris Pallio? No, that wasn’t it. Something else must be wrong.

Zestasia ran a few scenarios through his mind. One of them was the sun being blocked out since his main source of power was the sun, but that didn’t make any sense. He hadn’t dipped into his reserves. Plus, when he looked up, the sun was still out, so that wasn’t the reason why he couldn’t activate any of his magical spells. So then, what could it be? The sudden lack of an answer brought frustration to Zestasia and he began to scratch his head out of said frustration, angrily grunting, though that would soon fade into a gasp as he saw shadows of what appeared to be some kind of avian-like creature.

He didn’t do anything at first. As they were fast-approaching the barge, Zestasia eyed them warily. It became apparent to Zestasia that they weren’t flying south for winter. First off, it wasn’t even cold outside. And secondly, they were centered at the barge and they took to a diving assault. Instinctively, Zestasia rolled forward, avoiding any direct confrontation with the angered birds. However, his jacket was caught and part of his pant leg had been snipped off like a knife does with softened butter.

Zestasia’s previous slight worry was now on the border of panic. These birds had human flesh on their mind. Whatever the reason, he had that much figured out. There was just something about the noises they made that made that much obvious to him. “So, what now? Fight or flee? For some reason, I can’t use my magic and these birds seem to be stronger than your average parrot.” He said, looking at the hot blonde and his brother. He would be down for either option, but the lack of access to his magic made the fleeing option preferable.

These Brits sure were feisty, huh? Though Lillian wasn’t nearly as accepting of Ava’s own, personal peanut gallery as Liz was, it still made her smile that, despite all the talk about them as a whole, this Brit didn’t write off Ava by simply walking away. That, if nothing else, was proving all them anti-American stereotypes wrong. Though, Ava wasn’t an American herself. But Lillian obviously didn’t know that. Oh god, Ava’s starting to play the same game her brother does. God-fucking-dammit! She had to do something about that.

Oh, but of course, before Ava could jump at the chance, someone who happened to be sitting at the table that she and Lillian were, decided to open up his mouth. Who was he? And why the hell didn’t she or Lillian spot him when they sat down? Based off of how stereotypically-withdrawn this guy appeared to be, Ava’s first impression of him was that didn’t want to speak up. He seemed like one of those guys that chose to sit in the front of the class because it meant not having to deal with the troublemakers in the classroom. Ava never had any problem with those kinds of people. Hell, she was friends with a couple of them. Nice people when they want to be, but there were types in that same group that did it because they were a self-loathing, purposely-hateful collection of introverts that wanted everyone to feel sorry for them.

Ava couldn’t deduce which side of that spectrum this guy was. “I’m being perfectly civil. Just tell him, Lillian,” Ava said, smiling, through her eyes, she teased Lillian. How’s that for listening? “But, if it’ll make you feel all that much better, Mister...whatever your name is, we could take this--”

As Ava attempted to finish that thought, someone interjected yet again. Seriously, these people budding in a conversation was getting old. “What the hell do you want?” Ava snapped, her head whipping back. Only then did she realize who it was. She couldn’t remember his name, but the face seemed familiar. Where she met him wasn’t clear, but that would soon change as his lips moved and words flowed out of them. Apparently, he was Harvey and she met him at that boring party. “Right, because I totally remember you.” She rolled her eyes, not really listening to what he said. She only caught the last bit about novels and reading. Again, it bored her, though she just nodded and pretended to understand what he was saying. As far as he knew, she had been listening to every word.

Taking just a moment to gather herself, Ava would lean back in her chair, trying not to be suffocated by the increasing amount of people at the table. She couldn’t vouch for the black guy, but she was getting a little antsy. Plus, she dared not bring the wrath from the librarian. “So tell me, do you lot always choose the libraries to find friends? Or is this just one of those chance encounters I’ve read so much about?” Ava asked, though she wasn’t sure if they caught on that she wasn’t seriously wanting to know the answer to that question. She asked it purely for the shits and giggles.

That is certainly one way to get people to notice you. Regardless, welcome to the site! I hope you find all that you are looking for (and good luck with the devouring of our females' rears )
