Spider-Man's history is so convoluted that you might aswell throw in the towel right now. I'd probably outright skip the 80's and 90's.

Superman's is pretty zigzagged too, given all the various retcons and Electric Supermen and the entirety of the Silver Age being batshit insane and such.

This is why I pretty much ignore canon altogether and treat the A-list superheroes (Superman, Spider-Man, Batman, and maybe one or two others) like a buffet. Comics, movies, cartoons, etc, I just pick up the things I like, leave the things I don't, and whatever ends up on my plate by the time I sit at the table is 'canon' to me. That's more or less what you have to do to avoid going insane.
I want Andy to write a scene where Clark needs to fly through rings and chase tanks for ten hours non-stop. All while somehow intoxicated so that his flying is erratic and misses all the rings. Dosed with a kryptonite cocktail or something.

Just give away my season finale, why don't ya?
Except for Superman, who seems continually the most shit on in terms of video gaming. There are multiple X-Men games and at least one Wolverine game better than every single Superman game.

What kills me is that making a good Superman game really shouldn't be that hard. Games like Crackdown, Just Cause, the later Saints Row games, all show that playing an absurdly overpowered main character can be a hoot. And that's not even going into games like Asura's Wrath which go completely insane with feats of strength or Megaton Rainfall where you can fly around the entire universe.

Just take the flying mechanics of any given DBZ game (let's say Tenkaichi or one of the other over-the-shoulder ones), the charge-up melee combat of Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, give him a 'spirit meter' from the old THQ/AKI wrestling games instead of a traditional health bar, and from there the rest is just spit-and-polish. You've already got George Newburn in the Injustice games, go get Clancy Brown and Dana Delaney (and some other voice actors who aren't Nolan North or Steve Blum playing everything). Have some challenge levels where you gave against the Flash around the city. Do some side missions where you uncover Luthor's master plan by snooping around as Lois Lane. Make the main villain Brainiac and have him bottle up Metropolis as an excuse to keep the player from flying off to the moon or whatever. And Bob's your uncle, a good Superman game (or at least a passable one)

Any time I say anything nice about it, I'm met with the same insipid memes, deliberate oversimplification, and name-calling.

You're gonna need to write at least five sex scenes to get the taste of people legitimately liking a film with Jessie Eisenberg's Jim Carrey's Lex Luthor and a plot that makes about as much sense as eating frozen pizza straight from the box out of my mouth.

Well that certainly didn't take long.
Honestly, the more I think about it, the more I realize I'm kinda tired of superhero movies in general.

I've spent practically every goddamn day for the past two years on the defensive about liking BvS (five years, once you include MoS), and have made zero headway. Any time I say anything nice about it, I'm met with the same insipid memes, deliberate oversimplification, and name-calling. Really stains your ability to enjoy something when you open up a giant can of worms every time you mention it.

And I'm bored to death with the Marvel movies. Yeah, this is partly resentment since every time Marvel does well, it's taken as another excuse to drag everyone's proverbial balls across my face, but I've watched every one of their movies and have never had any desire to watch any of them a second time. I find most of the characters to be basically interchangeable, I think stylistically they're samey and uninteresting, and I think they lean way too heavily on "fun" (which is mostly just Whedonesque mumble-speaking and lampshade-hanging) in place of anything of substance. At this point I only watch them to keep up with the Joneses.

So really, my only two options are to keep being hounded for liking I'm not supposed to, or going along with the crowd and pretending to like something I don't. Neither of which really feels like a winning choice.

I actually am exaggerating my distaste for Dawn of Justice. I like it enough that I own a copy, so take that as you will.

For what it's worth, I own a shitload of GL comics from around the time of the Sinestro Corps War. So it's not like I don't have any appreciation for Hal, either.
Ink, if it makes you feel any better-- or helps take some of the heat off of ya-- I unapologetically love BvS. So when it comes to being the guy who enjoys the thing everyone else hates, you're not alone.

I don't think that's actually accurate.

In all fairness, there is every possibility that I'm a moron.

I fully agree to this. But that Barbara seems to be long gone from DC's line up sadly.

Note, I am way behind on both Rebirth Nightwing and Batgirl's titles but I'm like 99.9% certain that Babs has not been confined to a wheelchair again haha.

Blame Gail Simone. She was so indignant over how 'harmful' The Killing Joke was to Barbara that she decided to undo it and remove years of character development, turning her back into just another Bat-kid and ultimately damaging the character far more severely than any amount of bullets through the spine.
