If you're roleplaying with your only friends, you're roleplaying with your best friends.

I think to sell someone on an interest check, it's really important to seem enthusiastic about your own idea. That means writing more than a single sentence to attract potential players.

Did you know that Dante's inferno is called a divine comedy because things work out for the protagonist? Back in the day, the only two genres were comedy and drama. The only difference was that in a comedy, the protagonist is better off at the end, and a drama is the opposite. So that's why a story about going through hell can still be considered a comedy, even if it's not funny.

Name:
Broken Promise, BP, Boss

Age:
Old enough to know better, too young to care. (that is to say 30's)

Preferred RPs:
I Prefer to make my own, but will occasionally join something if it looks interesting. I'll join just about anything so long as it isn’t overly edgy/sweet, though it's rare for me to do. I don't do 1x1s too often either.

Preferred Roles:
I tend to play adorable characters everyone wants to befriend or proper assholes everyone wants to stay away from. I try not to play moral paragons or prime evils.

RP Conquests:
I've completed quite a few RP's off site, but most of them are on private forums or have simply been lost to the ravages of server crashes. As for stuff here, I'm sure everyone who sees me post in the off topic sections has seen me find an excuse to talk about Danganronpa: Tower of Carnage. It's a project that took over 4 years to complete and I feel pride not only for myself but all the wonderful people who helped make it enjoyable during its run. Re: Zero: The High Council Is technically my first, but it was just something I kind of took over and ended up ending the story after just six months. It finished, but eh...

Last RP I finished was Symphony of Espers which turned out pretty good.

RP's in progress:
For some reason I can't seem to stay away from Ari's magical girl RP, even if I'm not sure why I'm still in it.

As for my own projects, I'm doing Symphony on High to continue the gigachad adventures of the espers in Pax Septimus.

RP Graveyard:
I've been pretty fortunate on this forum. I think I joined one when I first came on the site that didn't really do anything, and there are a few 1x1 things that didn't go anywhere. It's disappointing when an RP ends before it can be finished, but I've come to look at them as learning experiences.

And then there's that london magical girl RP, and that dark magical girl RP. I think I'm done joining magical girl RPs for a while.

Other interests:
Videos
I watch a lot of educational videos on youtube. Usually as research for something I’m writing or purely because a topic interests me. I like channels like Tier Zoo and Daryl Talks Games, and I’ll also watch things like Critical Drinker or Literature Devil to deepen my understanding of story telling. Though I also like memes and jokes, to which I’ll find myself watching stuff like Sseth, but usually find myself surfing through meme videos. I gotta work on that.

Games
I have a rather long history of playing virtually every platformer to come into existence during the indie boom, as well as quite a few other indie games. I’ve played Meatboy, Binding of Issac, Gunvolt, Cuphead, Princess Remedy in a World of Hurt, Classic Metroid, Warcraft 3, Final Fantasy 7,8, and 14, Left 4 Dead, Shantae, Celeste, Danganronpa, God Eater, the list goes on. What I’ve played is kind of all over the place. I don’t play many games these days, I tend to pick things that look interesting and go on a decent steam sale.

Painting Minis
I do this in moderation. Otherwise, it's a pretty expensive hobby to start...

Music
I listen to everything, save most country/rap songs. I have too many favorites to name.

Personality:
Not one to take life or the internet too seriously. Is only serious about writing well and having a good time.

People to Insult:
Dalton is a Dingus.

...No, I did not type that. I typed "He was not a bad writer by any means." And "He spoke and wrote it better than most native speakers." As well as "He didn't need to blatantly copy things to write good." That's the exact opposite of "He needed to plagiarize, every time he roleplayed and to increasing extremes, to barely reach an English comprehension of his peers."

Anyway, another thing that ticks me off: Time zones!

Seriously, trying to remember the schedule of everyone in my RP so that everything proceeds smoothly urks me. It's not that I mind acting like a secretary. It can just be troublesome to remember all these important times AND when they start.

"Let's work on that collab!"

"Sorry, gunna play D&D with the guys."

"B-but it's not even six-o'clock yet!"

"Not for you maybe."
This topic is for all sorts of nit pics, and I was simply mentioning one I haven't seen in here before. He had a great personality, and was very cooperative. You don't stay friends with someone without occasionally get irritated with them.
@SleepingSilence I was perhaps being a bit dramatic when I said 50% of his writing. But 50% of his posts most certainly had dialog ripped from his favorite anime, edgy movie, tv drama, or song he was listening to at the time. The copied IC post was a real shocker for me, and a new low for him. He actually tried to get into said RP and they wouldn't let him because character didn't fit the setting.

He was not a bad writer by any means. Admittedly, I am sure I haven't caught every time he decided to plagiarize. So it is difficult for me to say with complete certainty. But English was not his first language, and he spoke and wrote it better than most native speakers. He is still in my top five, maybe even top three. I suppose this is what urks me so much about his behavior in particular. He didn't need to blatantly copy things to write good.

I am not surprised to hear he's not the only person who does this sort of thing. One thing about my dear friend is he never had a lot of confidence in himself. He would always accept my criticisms and deflect my praise. I suppose for him and others like him, plagiarizing was his way of meeting the writing level of everyone else. He didn't create it, so it was good. And so his writing looked better to him if he included things like that in there. That is the only thing that makes sense to me.

Legitimate bitch: People who plagiarize.

For years I RPed with the same guy, and at least 50% of the words he "wrote" came from somewhere else. Songs, dialog from movies, sometimes entire scenes were pulled and injected into the roleplay. He actually had the gall to rip the opening IC post from an RP on THIS FORUM and posted it in his own RP. Word. For. Word. He just changed a few names was all. Obviously the rp went in an entirely different direction, but still! And don't get me wrong, copying a single line phrase or a meme can be funny every once in a while, but using rips like that for dramatic effect is just... cheesy. He even had the nerve to ask me "how was that?" every time he did this. Did he think I didn't know how to google?

Some of you are horrible rollplayers. But at least your words are your own.

Motive post will be up over the weekend. Deadly life will start not long after.

I'll be PMing everyone a truth bullet or two for their character(s) to uncover once deadly life starts. I would prefer it if everyone could uncover their clue asap. If you can't get to it in a week's time, I'll just discover it for you, so no worries.

I still haven't decided exactly how I want to handle the court of carnage itself. I think I am going to allow some light discussion about the clues outside of IC, but I would like everything IC wise to make sense. That is to say if a character correctly points out a contradiction or makes a connection, I would like them to explain how they came to that conclusion logically. Even another character can do this for them, so long as anyone reading the IC only isn't totally lost. And yes, you can throw wild accusations and be genuinely entertaining without contributing to the case IC, that works too.

So if everything goes smoothly, we should be on our way to solving a murderer in about two weeks. So excited!
Junko's eyes darted between Clem and Jane, But she spoke to the feline. "Well, we need to get him down quickly, or take off. Because as amusing as a fight would be, I'd prefer not to chip my nails firing an automatic machine gun." the fashionista flicked the safety on the machine gun off and prepared to pull it out of her makeshift holster.

@Blueflame

OOC: This is kind of a casual thing where people are going to drop in and out at random. I wouldn't spend a ton of time waiting for people if you have something to post. It is nice to wait for people, but they can find their own way across. Otherwise, they can just retcon into the scene again.

I was not being serious, @Meta. Hence why my followup was "on a more serious note." But that sounds like an amusing extension, even if I personally hate reading comic sans.
well, now i'm almost leaning towards the necros coming out on top. Though in the zenos defense, they have proven to be ferociously intelligent. I can see them very quickly discovering ways to deal with the virus spreading among their own kind.

Maybe we should take a closer look at their abilities? The xenos are fast and intelligent, while the necros are durable and can fight with psychological warfare. I wonder if xenos can get hallucinations?

@BrokenPromise

I think you meant to say "unironically the best font."

As soon as we get the ability to flag posts, I'm going to flag this one for flame baiting.

On a more serious note, where are we with that? Only 2 of the 5 mods aren't hidden, and Rilla doesn't really like to do stuff outside the arena section. I feel kind of bad pinging N&B exclusively with my problems.
