@shagranoz A bit short, but accepted. Poke would like an image, though.

I plan on whipping up a character for this if that's okay.

Ay. That's okay.

As you struck the metal, it resounded and echoed within the wall. Whatever it was, it appeared to be hollow. As you attempted to turn on the phone, it turned on normally. However, the texting app seemed to be removed. Whatever was behind the phone turning off seemed to be a bit upset at how many questions you asked them. The light given off by the screen of the phone was barely enough to see anything, but it was still enough. Upon sifting through the trash, nothing of interest was found. Mostly just discarded cans and water bottles, with a few bits of cardboard mixed in, alongside a few plastic bags. What little bits of food you found inside of the trash were absurdly small. They were also rotting, so it would probably be a bad idea to eat it.

I think that the only person who I can respond to and give information to is drewccapp, unless I missed something important. If so, I'll edit it in.
A Rude Awakening

It was a normal day in Megatropolis. The sun was shining, birds were chirping, and for the first time in the history of the city, they would have gone one month without a major disaster. Such an event was surprising; the city had portions of it torn into shreds, then rebuilt. It was truly a time to celebrate. Some (note: very few) news writers said that super-crime will continue to decline. Some even called for the dismantlement of all hero-based security forces (in just one month).

Though, everything was fairly nice. Life for all citizens was good in the past 29 days. In A-District, business was booming. Trade within the city was up 47%. In B-District, it was surprising, since only 10% of the city had been damaged. In C-District, nothing really happened. Nothing really ever happens in C-District. In D-District, tourism had been steadily going up. People from other countries and cities began to come over to Megatropolis, something that almost never happens.

E-District, however, was still E-District. Petty crime was everywhere. It wasn't too good, but it was better than having half of it destroyed by a power-mad super-crazy super-villain.

As the final day of the month began, there was a rather rude awakening for every single person in the city. The earth began to shake. Luckily, due to the great skill of the Super Construction Rangers, most buildings stood solemn and near-indestructible. Well, that was until the earth split at the seams of E-District, D-District and B-District while a giant serpent rose from the hole.

Wait, what?

Well, that serpent, although large and intimidating, turned out to be but a construct of magic. The poisonous body of the snake faded, leaving behind a mountain of bones, along with a castle of quickly cooled molten rock.

As the dust settled, the government was quickly called into accord. Ideas were flown around on how to handle the situation, however, the mayor, the strongest person in the city, vetoed every single idea except his own. From there, two specific heroes were called. Powerlevel Man and MC Radio.

After ten minutes of organizing and the mayor signing bills, a loud broadcast was sent out to every single TV, radio, or speaker in the city.

"Attention all civilians. Please go to the nearest shelter. Attention all heroes. Please head to the border of D, B, and E-Districts and head towards the, uh, giant mound of bones. The threat level is: Big-Big City Threat. Man, we really need to actually name them."

Well. That's the end of the idea of having a peaceful month in the city.

@Write and I were discussing this. We think the symbols might relate to the high arcana of tarot cards. This is just an observation but something I thought @SilverDawn is really clever about.

Tim, the one not in a bedroom with the bauble of a zero, referencing the zeroth card: The Fool

Irina, with the icon of the queen: The Empress

Rhiannon and Austin with the two separate hearts and the goal of finding each other: The Lovers
Cleo who’s bauble is of a sad man with no other goal thus far: The Hanged Man

Justin, left with curious drugs of various goals and the bauble of the skull: Death

Gray, with a cup of water that’s usually referenced in the hands of angel in the card’s art: Temperance

And Aedin, with the red star bauble and “a spiritual sense of a way home”: The Stars

So yeah, just an observation.

Shit. Someone got it already.
Just found this thread. Mind if I sign up?

Not at all.
@Sodium So his stealth is more of a didn't notice kind-of-thing.

Seems good to me. Accepted.

I'll be back in 2 hours-ish to recheck the thread if there's anything new.

I think you thought my character took more steps away than he actually did, but I'm cool with it. I can roll with the story nice and easy.

@SilverDawn

Yea, I took a bit of liberties with that. I just assumed that you stepped down the path and weren't stopping until you found something new.

As you left the body behind, you could barely make out the paths that you could take. There was one ahead and one to the left. On the crossroads of these paths seemed to be a decently sized rectangle, as if cut out of the concrete wall. A sheet of metal was inserted on the inside of the wall, blocking access to it. It seemed to be important.

There was a large pile of trash underneath the opening. However, it was too dark to see anything specific inside.

@RedXCross, @KahleenCuthald, @Darkwolfsoul010 & @tatszico - 7...12 Hallway

As each of you spoke, a chime sounded. The same one from earlier, when you got the first message. However, it was a single chime. The only phone that lit up was the one with the plastic skull dangling from it.

dingdingding, we have a winner~ (*^-‘) 乃 knew you could do it! swing by a dropoff to pickup your treat! nice job making friends, too~ i thought you would just make 1, but 3? !Σ( ̄口 ̄;; really shocked me~

@Write - Outside Room 13
As you rushed the unknown, you found nobody else. You simply found a wall on the other side. However, to the East of you was a giant pile of debris that was large enough to block the large hallway that seemed as if it was a road. The hallway that you were in had the occasional light turned on. Luckily, it was enough for you to see everything in the hallway.

Very little trash remained on the sides. Most of it was dust. A few footprints could be seen in the dust, but most of them had been covered by more dust. To the end of the hallway was a wall, along with a path North and a path South. While you could not see anything, you could barely hear murmurs coming from the North.

@Jinxer & @Teaistasty - The Washroom

As the two of you spoke, an extremely noticeable creak sounded from inside of the washroom. Everything was silent; then, as if in rhythmic succession, another creak. More silence. Creak. Silence. Crea- silenc- cre. It was getting faster. Then, the silence was removed all together. Crack, crack, crack. It sounded like something was breaking. Then, bang. Finally, flowing.

Upon investigating the sound, it became apparent that one of rusted old pipes leading into one of the urinals had burst. What seemed so terrifying was actually just a way of making sure that private business was done properly. Water flowed out of the pipe, filling the room with even more of a salty smell. It seemed like any smell that the corpse nearby had had had vanished.

>tfw you're sleeping and 2500th post happens.

Well. Now there's 3000th to look forwards too.
