Suddenly turning rapidly on her heel, Vashti stopped herself in place and hide behind the cashier's desk in the store, only chancing peeping around the side at the front door to see if whatever had been chasing her followed her in. Apparently not having been followed in by her flying nemesis, who had given away a bit more info than perhaps should have been, the half-Alv let out a sigh of relief before pulling her head back behind the desk again. Jeez, what day was it that she was followed by some military Automata, if her pursuer's words were to be taken literally in part with the altered machine seeming naivete. But at least the robot had seemingly avoided blowing the place up or crashing inside like an idiot. That was actually smart, though was also something the half-Alv had counted on.

"Miss, what in heavens are you doing" the cashier asked her, the woman giving her a steep frown as she put her hands on her hips.

Blinking in realization she was actually in another store, the adrenaline fading just a little as she was sitting, Vashti looked up at an frustrated looking human cashier woman and gave a sheepish smile.

"Eh, the guy in the shop down the street tried to touch my butt while i was looking at the trinkets he sold....so i slapped him and grabbed a few of his things as payment before running off," she said, her tone slightly guilty but with a notable mischievous tint to it that she could not help but have leak through, "Now i have some crazy military automata that is chasing me, aaand that about sums it up."

The cashier sighed aloud, running one of her hands down her face in exasperation at the story and moment, though having seen said "robot" fly by just after the half-Alv dipped in....it seemed believable. That and one of her customers had noted hearing a shout about a thief not too long ago....she did not get payed enough to deal with all of this, to be frank. Not payed enough at all. Still, she knew the guy this random girl with a Granadian accent was talking about. She hated that guy. And though this girl sounded Granadian, it wasn't enough in the cashier's eyes to

"Tell you what, kid, i'll give you some help in getting out of here and one or two trinkets were have to throw away anyways, but only if you drop the stuff you stole so we can bring it back to the guy, ok?" the employee said, letting out a deep and tired sigh before looking back up at the doorway and then back at the thief in her midst, "My manager won't notice, we get rid of some crap, that ass of a guy gets embarrassed, and you get out of here without getting my store or customers vaporized. Deal?"

The half-Alv went into a thoughtful look for a minute...before allowing a large grin to cross her face in the process. Hey, it was some help she hadn't expected, but it was more than welcome in her book. Besides, the fun of doing some improvisation to get out with broken items wouldn't be bad, right?

"Yeah, you have a deal!", Vashti said, giving a hearty nod to the employee as they nodded and went back to grab the items.

A few moments later they returned, a portable mirror in hand and a small toy rat, both of which she handed down to Vashti with a look of desperation to just get this over with, though perhaps in some small part rooting for the upbeat half-Alb in all of this. After all, it did kill the monotony of the day and added something to her list of stories to tell her family at home.

"A broken mirror that absorbs too much light and shines like a spotlight due to the enchantment having been made wrong, and a returned magitech mouse that is supposed to play with cats, but just makes a lot of smoke and noise while moving around erratically because the wiring is defunct.... Good luck."

With that, the cashier looked back up and returned to her job, leaving Vashti with little tools and...mmm, perhaps an idea forming. Actually, she had an idea after looking at the items. A rough and desperate one, but hey, it was worth a shot to get out of here.

After a minute the door to the shop would open, and after a second a small, mechanical mouse would zip out of the door in front of Rho and Phi. Perhaps some child had decided to play with it? Though after a minute, things got decidedly odd as the mechanical mouse began to produce smoke, more and more as it began to sputter, cough, and make screeching rat noises like it was about to go "pop" on the sidewalk right in front of the doorway.

At the same time, however, something or someone leapt through the smoke, dashing out of the front of the shop door with what seemed like a cracked mirror in their left hand. Actually, the person leaping through the smoke and making a run for it was the dog-like robots' target! Indeed, Vashti was bolting away, running back across the street, unintentionally in the direction of a certain princess and her entourage who seemed to be indulging a shop-keeper at the moment. But given that the automata had not blown the roof off of the place, despite talking of exploding her, the half-Alv decided to take the chance this automata would not fire any weapons around a group of people. Much less around nobility of all things. Or at least, that was what Vashti was guessing the princess-dressed girl she had waved to was.

"I wish i had time to wire these things......could've been fun......stupid robot.....," Vashti said to herself quietly, pouting for a moment like a child with puffed cheeks before returning to her usual self again as she ran forwards at all the speed her legs could carry her, mirror ready in case she heard her pursuer behind her again. Because if that happened...maybe she was ready this time? Really, she hadn't the time to think this through much, much less think of how she was going to escape this entourage of people after getting over to them and trying to once again ditch the military automata of all things that was chasing her.

But hey, the times were tough, and she had to get going.

"Everybody move, there's a crazy military automata chasing me!" the half-Alv shouted as she continued her fleeing right towards where the merchant, princess, and as she could now see some silver-haired guy as well. Odd.

As it were, the shopkeeper had not pursued her. This princess-looking girl nor anyone around her had seemed to pursue her. No random, ordinary citizens had decided to pursue her. No other shopkeeper had even tried for the moment to trip her up or such. So she was all good at this point when it came to her getaway, right? Right?

...Nope.

As she glanced over her shoulder as she reached the other side of the street whilst running, she noted someone, or some Automata or something, flying after her through the air like some kind of missile aimed at her. On top of that, this pursuer was threatening to...wait explode her?! As in, literally "explode" her like scatter her body all over the place in tiny pieces? Not exactly a threat that would ring well in the half-Alv's ears as she hastened her pace and was about to make her next move since the alley now seemed not as good as it had before. After all, in a straight, moving chase she wasn't going to outrun this...person, thing, whoever they were. But...

"You really gonna explode someone, in a public place no less? Who raised you like that?" Vashti said aloud back towards the naive, pursuing Automata, a grin on her face as she spoke and was nearly tempted to chuckle aloud.

As she finished speaking, Vashti darted to the side into one of the still-open stores lining the sides of the street. Really, it was still just on the other side of the street from where the princess was. Though while not seemingly her wisest choice, as the half-Alv ran and half-stumbled through the store and the few customers there, she dropped a few of her trinkets and grabbed a couple more that fell in front of her as she blitzed towards the back door of the establishment. Sounds of surprise from the customers and store owner came out as Vashti made her break for the back door, which would likely lead to another alley.

Not that she was going through the door yet or at all, but if her pursuer believed she was and went around to try to "cut her off", then it might help her situation a bit more~

"Go to visit your cousin living on the Grandian border", her parents had said, "It'll be an educating experience for you while we work back home on a...special task" they had added.

So the teenage Alv/Cat Beastkin hybrid had gone towards the appointed spot on the border, even as far as seeing the town her cousin lived in from a distance at that. However, things had not been so good looking even from there. Granadian military Greatarmor and tanks and troops could be seen even from a distance in the town and around it assembling and such, a thing that screamed to her mind to "get the hell out of here" as it were. Not that she was running from the military, but walking into a militarily-occupied zone on the border was also not a good idea. Not even she was curious enough to enter that place in such a state.

So she had proceeded to go past that town, sneaking and stalking through the woods and wilderness to move on over the border into Felbar without so much as trying to meet her cousin. As it were, she was more curious about what was going on in the neighboring nations right now, even as her parents likely were helping in some military production endeavor if she had to place a guess on it. Then again, a few miles past the border and BAM....things had changed. New memories of another life. Another self coming into the picture with who she was...if that guess was even remotely correct. Was "she" the one who she now remembered, or was "this" her some sort of falsification that had been put into her mind along with "that other her".

Argh, it was all confusing, but all the same she felt just like normal in either respect, just with a lot more to her now than before. Whether "that" her or "this" her was the original or something else, they seemed rather compatible in her eyes and in her mind.

After taking a day or two to adjust to the surge of these memories and such into her mind, Vashti had made it a point to get deeper into Felbar territory to get away from the danger zone. That, at least, would be a good idea...and give her a chance to sate her curiosity on how things were in this country. She only had ever known life in Grandia, which had not been the best nor the worst, but now being in a new nation she had become intrigued by their ways and such. And, potentially, could find some discarded Altered Machines or such to tinker with from here as well! Was the tech here any different? Was it the same? Did they have different sorts of things they made here in terms of machinery and such? At least, if anyone did that like back in Grandia where she had lived in one of the big, developed cities, she could take a look at things.

"Hey, somebody stop that thief!!!" an angry and vehement voice cried aloud into the street, the voice coming from a shop only a few stores down from where Vivienna and her very sizable entourage were. In fact, the princess and her entourage would see clearly the shop from where the noise came....and from where the accused "thief" emerged from to boot.

"That and the slap are what you get for trying to grab my butt, jerk!" another voice cried back into the store aloud as a teenage, blue haired girl who looked like a normal Alv, but with twin cat-tails swishing slightly behind her like a cat beastkin, swiftly emerged onto the street from one of the stores owned by those magitech trinket purveyors. Further, in the girl's arms were several magitech trinkets in particular, random ones she had nabbed from the shelves on her way out.

To Vashti, it was fair that she take a little recompense from this guy who had tried to touch her butt in the store as she had looked about with a fascination for some of the Felbar-specific mechanical and magic trinkets that had dotted the store. What a way to treat a customer, much less someone who had taken the real risks to get over here and try to be safe before things got any worse on the border! Hmph! But that bit of agility she had inherited from her father's side was helpful in running out of the store, at least.

Looking side to side quickly immediately after leaving and finish shouting back at the store manager, the half-Alv's face turned into slight shock as she saw the large and varied entourage not far off, especially in regards to noting the visage of the cute teenage princess standing there with some silver-haired butler. Tilting her head slightly, Vashti smiled and waved at the princess for a moment before bolting once more. Though not a professional runner or such, she has at least a small bit going for her as she tried to reach the other side of the large street and aim for an alleyway. After all, if she wanted to break these down and tinker or such, she needed to get out of here and escape the cops and soldiers. Which, hopefully, would not be the hardest thing to do.

violet = speaking

Throughout the rental home that the magus had acquired as a base for this venture, the sound of crispy, sizzling bacon cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. It was to signal that it indeed was the morning...and that "mother" was indeed making breakfast for herself and Assassin, quite a nice yet simple one at that. A white apron tied about her that she had bought at a local store, she was turning over pieces of bacon, checking the provided waffle maker that had come with the home to make sure the sweet (but not overly sweet) chocolate-chip laden waffles were cooking just fine and not burning. As she finished each bit of the simple American breakfast fare, she placed them on a large waiting plate to the side, where it could sit until she would dish them out for her and her little girl. Nearby, and importantly, sat a hot bottle of maple syrup, ready to pour on the sweet and indulgent goodness that was this trademark breakfast condiment of choice.

And at least she could cook simpler things like this without any issue, doing very well at cooking this fare in fact where she lacked the motherly skills for cooking more complex things. Still, a part of her wished that she could make some fried chicken to go with these waffles, just like a dish or two she had eaten in the past. Ah. But still, she was doing nothing but her best for the little adorable murderer that was her servant. She had noted she would reward Jack for stopping that Saber from attacking her and such last night, and if Jack wanted that last amount of burger she had not finished last night was safely wrapped up in the fridge.

Yet in part....well, doing all of this with a happy face covered up the horrors she had seen last night in her dreams. Actually...to call it her dreams was a lie, more like she was seeing Jack's memories of the past in vivid, first-person detail. The grey murk and mire of the smog and cold mists of London, how the very landscape itself and the people seemed warped into demons and giant, featureless monsters and the suffocating sensation of living in this mess. And then, well, the magus understood that normal humans had a convention of sorts to celebrate Jack the Ripper. Yet to see and experience her work firsthand, to feel that knife and see the blood, and feel the desperation and compulsion to return to that space where it was warm and safe.....it both struck a chord of empathy towards the child serial killer and sent a severe cold chill up her back like none other sensation ever had in her life before. Perhaps it was something she needed to expect to have seen if Jack's life if anything, and yet at the same time it was a shock that no human of this current time would perhaps understand without having perceived it for themselves as she had.

Even so...

@Rune_Alchemist No...noooo! Not the legs again! Anything but the sexual harassment of her legs again! XD

@VitaVitaAR This is the one i sent to you via PM, now put here for second opinions! :D
