Bio

Just here to share my multitude of ideas and meet people who do the same nerdy things I do. Been RPing off and on for way too long. I'm into fantasy and sci-fi RPs mostly.

I’m also Artifex, for those who knew my other account.

Yes, I’ve done this a few times, actually…and unfortunately, it’s lost steam each time because people have life stuff come up and the posts slow down. But I’m gonna retry til it sticks because I love this idea so much.
Yes, there are several historical events that differ from our version of reality simply because of the existence of Variants. Essentially, things like technology evolved and changed at roughly the same rate (perhaps a bit faster, actually), but in a slightly different way. It’s basically America if different companies and organizations existed and locations had different names.

Hope that’s not too vague of an answer.

Thanks all for your interest! I hope you’ll all be able to join.

I edited the first post with a CS to ponder over while I clean things up. Any questions, just ask!

Some call us superhumans, some call us enhanced, some even call us freaks of nature.

Over time, the ‘politically correct’ term has become Variant -- as in, a variation of the normal human genome. We’re said to have an anomaly in our genetic code that allows us to manifest certain powers or abilities.

No explanation as to how or why or where this came from...either way, it’s a major source of conflict in our world.

While the world struggles to figure out what to do with Variants, the Variants struggle to find their place in the world.

There are those who want to try and maintain ordinary lives just like everyone else...perhaps use their abilities to help a few people or get ahead in life.

Some prefer to play the hero, believing that their abilities were somehow bestowed upon them for upholding some grand responsibility.

And, yet, there are those who would rather watch the world burn just to see if anything will rise from the ashes...

Apparently, a normal life isn’t an option for someone who can turn into ice or has armored skin or can read minds...too much to ask, it seems.

But with every struggle, there’s a story...and this is ours.

General Info

Notes
  • We’re focusing more on outcasts and vigilantes in this RP
  • Chimera, The Syndicate, and The Glorious Alliance are non-playable, however some loose ties or past associations are acceptable (just ask me if you need clarification)
  • N.O.V.A. / M.A.D. agents are non-playable; strictly for NPCs and background (suggestions for agents are welcome, though)
  • Non-Variant characters are welcome
  • Class 5 Variants are not allowed
  • Be careful when using Distortionist-type abilities so that they are not too overpowered
  • This is taking place in the year 2130 in an alternate version of America
  • Have fun!!!

Still solidifying a plot and hammering out a few other details...just laying the groundwork here. Enjoy!

I felt really sad for Talia reading that background...makes sense for a vigilante. Also, vigilantes are 100% welcome, so her 'mode of operations' is perfectly fine. I wouldn't put her in the villain category even though she kills people...it would just put her on several people's radar. Everything else is good as far as abilities and all that, so she is approved!

There's definitely room for more, so thanks for the interest!

So, this is something that's varied slightly in the different iterations of this RP...and until you just mentioned it, I hadn't realized I didn't refine it for this version when I added the Nobles. So, honestly, other than to become a Noble, a variant giving his/her information to NOVA would be more or less a courtesy. It's not illegal for a variant to use his/her abilities in a non-threatening way -- like if a doctor has healing abilities, for example. Abilities have been banned from several sports, however, because they can provide an unfair advantage.

So, now that I think about it, I can really adjust my system just a tad, since it doesn't make much since for a variant to register with NOVA for literally no reason.

Ok, cool. Sounds good...kinda what I figured in my head, but I just wanted to make sure I had the right idea about it. Approved, my friend!

Jason looks good. The memory control is just enough to where it shouldn't be abused too heavily, so that works well. He's all the way approved!

@jetipster
Welcome back, my friend! Let's try this again, shall we? Felix is good to go!

@PrankFox
I like this dude. Question, though...does he have to have any other knowledge about animals he turns into other than sightings or pictures? And how detailed do the pictures have to be? If it's an animal that he had no prior knowledge of, could he just automatically take its form and know how it properly use it?

@Roughdragon1
Very cool concept so far. Seems like quite the trickster. I'm interested in seeing how this power will be used.

@Ymbrine
Can I just say I really love the marking ability? It's like creating a personal spawn point! I can already picture some cool stuff going on with that in my head. She's approved!
