That moment you've got too many rp ideas floating in your head, but you don't want to overwhelm yourself? Yeah... I'm right there, suffering in silence.

RP hunting is like finding the rare toy in the cereal box. Doable, but the time and effort is nearly more than I can bare!

That amazing high when you realized how far you've come in improving your writing. It's impossible to describe, but drowns you in a positive glow.

I love being a terrible person by making my PCs' lives miserable, it's art form that never gets old or boring.

Alright, cheers. I've read from 27-31 so far, so I'm mostly caught up. It has dawned on me that Silence is going to be outmatched everywhere he goes, but as I joined to get away from fighting for the most part that won't be too big an issue.

This rp has a lot more depth than battles really. If you think about, most of the humans that are villians are actually out matched power wise as well and cover their weaknesses with resources. Jacqueline, an NPC of mine and owner of Gene Co, is complete human with no super powers whatso ever. So she allies herself with others that are heavy influences in Lost Haven an also has too high of a public profile to be killed off by the heroes.

I suggest having your origin arc consists of building ties similiar to what she has done. This would allow some interesting story development and ties to some powerful villians in their own right already. While Ded mentioned the origin arc is usually to prevent people from hopping in and vanishing, you aren't expected to make it solo. I did mine with Tearstone's and Enter The Hero's pcs which despite the months it took to get done (4 collab parts of about 7 gdoc pages each or so!) it was fun and created a strong start for our little trio. <3

Or you could go down the Animorphs route, as Fallen mentioned. I wouldn't mind seeing that, either.

Sep does some decent twists to established stuff, which why I suggested it. It's also a lot easier to balance and less issue risky as there's so much to account for within this rp, like what limits and why and how to account for those oddballs. XD

Oh, Animorphs. There was actually an Animorphs roleplay on this site that I was part of a few years ago. I remember watching some of the television series, but not all of it.

I spotted it and briefly considered joining but it looked dead. And the tv show didn't last long if I recall correctly and it sort of crashed and burned when they started to pull too far from the original plotline in the books.

Also, PSA time. From Wednesday to Saturday night, I will be busy, which means I probably will not be able to make any posts in that time and i might not be able to monitor the game thread. Therefore, unless @nitemare shape gets better before Wednesday, it looks like you will be in charge, @Hound55.

We’re DOOMED!!!! DOOMED, I said! The thread might not be alive or in existence after you leave him in charge… Or VAT might be let loose to dirty the place up.
@Fallenreaper I remember Animorphs. Not well mind you, but I do. I even had, or probably still do somewhere a few toys of them. I don't know what happened to them but they're probably still in the house.

If it's anything like my house, I suspect you will never see it again. I've literally put something in my house robe/coat and it's vanished. Recalled that I've turned every single pocket inside out then shook, just to make sure there wasn't anything in it. Next day... it pops right up the in that same pocket I'd turned inside out about 3-4 times (even shook it repeatedly when it was inside out!) yesterday. Freaked me out rather well really. XD

I suppose anything that's likely to affect the present day, which is when (if accepted) my character will be introduced.

That does lead me to something I've been meaning to ask, the OP says you have to start with an Origin Arc, what exactly does that entail?

From my understanding, though don't quote me as I'm not a GM, but I assumed it was how your character came into their powers and/or into a position of power they find themselves. From what I skimmed over your PC CS, it seems like your PC has already began using his powers and has a decent idea of them which in this case, your Origin Arc can likely be how he makes himself known in the world itself and what alliances he strives to gain.

For Rach, mine, it was when she became host to a murderous virus and gained her abilities. Now she's going to struggle to control and adapt to the things attached to said virus (including threats, abilities, and changes) and decide if she wants to live out a normal life or to use her abilities for something more. Most of this is affected, for my arc anyways, by the people she interacts with. Bad people who use her, capture or aim to destroy her will most likely lead her down the path of a villain. In the opposite ballpark, those who stick by her, support, and accept her as she is will lead her down the path of an anti-hero. Depending on which type of people get closest to her, this will affect what she becomes in the end.

Can anyone recommend a good place in the IC to read from to get a gist of the current story arc/arcs?

Well, do you want recent events as in on the current day or since Ded's arc (the only world one btw) started? There's actually several story arcs, independent of each other, going on right now. From early starts as heroes to taking on local thugs, investigating a massacre at a local stadium and even fighting the current threat.

The start of Ded's current world event is here but for recent developments in the arcs I suggest 3 pages back actually.

@Fallenreaper Well I will wait to see what @nitemare shape and @Dedonus say on the whole idea of Mimics first

Alright, though I think NMS is sick currently so it might be a bit before you hear from him.

Yeehaw~ looking forward to it.

Anyway, how is everyone else doing?
@Fallenreaper Best of luck to future Trickster dealing with all the shit I'm putting off until then.

It's all future Trickster's problem now.

Currently, due to Echo going out yesterday, We're hoping to get the collab done tonight with any luck!

Guess if I ever look to join a DC RP as Beast Boy I know who to come to.

Or if I ever have a DC RP that needs one.

I actually researched a lot about animals which is why I enjoy characters like him, though comic wise I'm useless when it comes to playing BB accurately and I don't think I do silly PCs well either.

Roan, in relics, has traits that are actually based off real wolves though his eyesight was altered due to adding human aspects. Thankfully it wasn't a hawk or bird, who have odd eye structure for protection against wind current, glare, and have about 20/5 vision compared to human's 20/20. Seriously keen eyes that it can be rather scary thinking about it. Their range of vision is also wider as well, though unless they are owl, they can't see almost 360 degrees all the way around.
@Fallenreaper I have never seen you nerd over something so much.

As I said, I am undecided.

You've never hit a topic I actually know fairly well, when you find that then you will see me nerd and nerd it hard!

Kinda tempted to go the opposite route and go he can take more than one, then later he limits it to one... as that adds new problems. I'll decide later, obviously animals will be easier than supers abilities as animals he can pick and choose what he wants.

He's limited to abilities that don't require an actual physical change. I.E. He can get strong off someone, but if someones ability is to turn into an animal that's pretty much useless to him. Magic as well, can't be copied. So long as the magic hasn't actually altered the persons DNA in any way. This is just a possible, I'm also interested to maybe do something along the lines of Beast Boy but I'd need to think on how I'd make that work. I'm definitely going to do one of the two ideas.

IF you go the beast boy route, there's actually at least two ways that can be done:

One- He has to have seen the animal in order to acquire it's shape, abilities, etc. Including using those set abilities or skills.
Two- Doing it similar to the animorphs, which was acquire the animal through touch and being able to access the animal by focusing on them at any time.

Despite how corny 2 sounds, the books and even the show did it fairly well. Even had a weakness that if they stuck in the morph for up to two hours, they risk being stuck in it and unable to morph out. (though I would suggest in this story it might be better to adjust it that the longer he stays in the animal's shape, the more he becomes like that creature and so might be something of a character struggle or conflict with the power) The morphing also wasn't instant but took seconds or minutes depending on how complicate and radically different the creature was. In the books, morphing humans was complicated (save for Tobias who become trapped in the hawk's body and later regained the ability to morph later in the series) and so was heavily avoided. In addition, just because they had a wide range of animals didn't mean they used them all and some were even re-acquired due to how long ago they gained them... Gods, my inner nerd is seeping. XD
