Lex and Kwan

Not even a smirk? She's either being nice or she's seen worse than this. Lex loathed his power internally, but it was on a lesser degree than usual. Kwan's optimism was something Lex had not received when showing off his ability since he has received it. Not only did she give him a bit of hope for the future, but she displayed that she could be someone he could become close to by a fringe like a friend would. For Lex, turning into a pile of dust was easy, but changing back required a bit of concentration.

The first time Lex used his power, it took almost an hour to piece himself together. So far, he has cut the time down by quite a bit. He pretty much had to just fight his way out of the dust like someone trying to swim out of a deep body of water. Every grain was a piece of him and he needed to feel every grain mentally to pull himself up and back together. He always focused on the idea of him getting up from off the ground until he was on his two feet. In this case, he planned to remain hunched down. I really don't want to be the guy who makes the speedster think of me as the "Flash". Lex thought as he was sure he wouldn't be able to slip into his clothes in good time, and it was not like he could tell her that he would appear naked in a few seconds. Lex could never move while he 2as a pile except when he wanted to reform, which he thought was stupid.

Then it started. The first thing seen coming forth from the pile of dust was a bare back made from dust. Then two arms pushed the torso up to reveal Lex's head. His face was still forming and resembled a clay sculpture's.

"Come... on." Lex's form spoke in a muffled voice that ended with somewhat of a hiss. His body seemed to be stuck between his solid human form and a pile of dust. "What the?" Lex said in confusion as if this had never happened before and that is because it hadn't. "Kwan!" Lex shouted as he looked up and reached out to her, only to turn into a pile of unmoving dust. The pile was still for about three seconds before it started to shift to reveal a message.

KWAN THIS IS NOT RIGHT. DID YOU HEAR MY VOICE?! THAT NEVER HAPPENS! IF YOU CAN READ THIS... THIS NEVER HAPPENS. I CAN MOVE THE PILE! DID YOU DO THIS?!

The message was then cleared for Lex's next big of talking.

CAN YOU TURN AWAY? I'M GOING TO COME BACK OUT OF MY CLOTHES. I WARNED YOU... LOL THIS IS SO COOL. ALRIGHT I MEAN IT THIS TIME. TURN AROUND O_O

The pile then cleared the text before it started to build upon itself. From his feet up. It was different from when he had tried to originally reform, but that's because he was not fighting his way out of the pile of dust this time. Within a few seconds, Lex was reformed with a smile on his face, but not facing Kwan for obvious reasons as his clothes lay on the ground.

"If I wasn't buck naked, I would hug the shit out of you." Lex said before reaching for his boxer briefs to put on. "You sure you didn't inject me with something? Like... that was like learning to ride a bike for the first time and having a life changing epiphany in one big bang!" Lex said in excitement as he continued to quickly get dressed. "Like, I knew what I had to do, but it just wasn't working, but then something clicked and bam I could move and... you were right." Lex said this as he finally turned around to lazily slip his shoes on. "But what do you think it was?" Lex said as he approached Kwan's cart. It was about time they got this thing moving.

Lex and Kwan

“Always been fast?” Lex said lightly as he smiled, unsure if Kwan was serious or joking. He was leaning towards her joking, because who in the hell could be that fast? Lex raised an eyebrow as Kwan mentioned a friend of hers. The way Kwan mentioned this man in the past tense meant that he probably was not around anymore. “Hmm, he definitely seemed wise... Now I’m wishing life did suck.” Lex chuckled as the two continued to walk along.

When Kwan started to really talk about her power, he noticed how well she articulated it. She was not just simply stating that she was fast like most were. It seemed that Kwan had taken the time to understand her power and wishes to continue to understand her power. And she knows her stuff… Lex thought as he listened to her hummingbird comparison.

“You’re right about the beats per minute. I was majoring in bio before you know… this.” Lex said as he looked at the darkening sky. “And I could probably help with your hypothesis… when you trust me.” Lex said with a smile that would slowly faded as he knew he had to now speak on his opinion on his own power. “Perspective is not going to help with what I can do.” Lex said with a shake of his head. “You ever see how they disintegrate people in the movies? Don’t get too excited, because I don’t have the power to disintegrate people. Trust me, I tried.” Lex said in jest. “Brace yourself for this one.” The sarcasm was just flowing now. Lex stopped in place and took a step back from Kwan. He faced her with a smile before his body instantly turned into dust that immediately hit the ground along with his clothes. Lex was nothing, but a pile of gray dust and clothing in front of Kwan. Not a grain moved except for those that were shifted by the breeze, and not a sound came from the dust pile.

From Lex’s perspective, he could see and hear Kwan, but from the ground where he lay. He thought about changing back, but that took effort, especially getting into his clothes without exposing himself. My second time today of not thinking before I go and do something stupid! I wonder what Kwan is going to say about this. I’m just waiting for her to laugh. Lex thought while being a pile of dust.

No worries Guy, you know me, I can go with the flow

Shall I adjust my post or should we assume Lex accidentally thought out loud

I'd love to lean towards the later than the former because it adds to his curious nature which in the end is engaging Kwan's attention

She likes people who don't hide the harmless strange habits everyone has, she doesn't hide her's......well actually she does at least in the beginning. She knows she's not normal and unlike most of the survivors she's known that since she was a young girl as her trainers taught her to do gymnastic acts combined with choreographed fighting styles while flying on wires over dangerous drops and view them as a normal day.

The nice thing is you remind her of master Houzi (Monkey) one of her teachers and a grandfather figure to her. Oh and she speaks with an Hong Kong English Accent so she won’t be calling Lex; Rex anytime soon.

Oh and as a suggestion I use bold with { } as end caps

You might be right but it's difficult to tell considering it is in the same color as the speech
I guess I'll wait for Guy to clear it up because if it is it reduces my most to nearly a complete edit top to bottom and I may as well erase the whole thing

Yeah those are thoughts. Hey I'll make it easier to distinguish next time. Maybe do without the color and stick with good old fashioned quotations for dialogue and italics for thoughts. Sorry.

Lex and Kwan

Lex attempt at an adventure seemed to be going fine and dandy until he realized something critical. There were many reasons why the man should not just go off journeying unprepared, but the most important happened to be the fact that the sun was beginning to set. Lex stopped in his tracks and mentally facepalmed himself while shutting his eyes tightly. Idiot!

“At least I didn’t…” Lex paused as his eyes widened from Kwan’s sudden arrival beside him. He slowly turned to Kwan and just listened to what she had to say while trying to keep his composure from how awesome she was. Plus, she now gave Lex a better excuse of turning back than forgetting to bring some sort of light source. Lex smiled at Kwan before speaking. “Alright that works I guess.” Lex tried to sound content, but he was relieved by Kwan’s offer. With one last look at the far reaches of wilds, he turned back toward the direction of the bunker. “I see you got yourself a pretty nice power. Super speed… I’d do almost anything to get that. You like it?” Lex asked as his eyes appeared to examine Kwan. He wanted to observe her body language as she answered his question. For some reason he liked to truly understand how people felt about these new capabilities given to them. Until a few hours ago, he thought super strength would be amazing to have. Maybe each power has a drawback. The better the power, the worse the drawback? That’s too simple though. My power tires me out after several uses and it honestly isn’t that amazing. I’m sure it uses a lot of energy, but god damn does this shit suck!

Lex’s eyes seemed to narrow as he thought negatively about his powers, but luckily he had his eyes forward and not aimed at his company. It was one thing to blurt out words at someone, and another to give looks that could kill a minute afterwards. When he noticed his demeanor, he blinked it away and looked back to Kwan with a smile to show that he was in good spirits.

Patience. A quality that Lex rarely possessed. The thought of waiting to arm wrestle perhaps the strongest woman in the bunker seemed worth it for the first five minutes. After that, he figured he would see her some other time. I’ll run into her eventually… but at how quickly we’ve been dropping like flies… Shit, reality just had to dawn on me again. Lex thought to himself as he walked from the very outside of the bunker. AWAY from the bunker. Now Lex was not a suicidal man, at least not purposely. He just needed a thrill from time to time. He could remain negative and groan about his shit power or he could find adventure in a brand-new world. New creatures to be discovered, new locations, new hobbies to create, and maybe even new people to meet. He could not accomplish this alone however, but he believed he could. It’s not like there’s any accountability here. I could leave and no one would notice. Really. Like right now. I’m just walking along and watching out for those giant gators everyone talks about. Minding my own business. Ready to start a new adventure. I might even be the founder of something. I’ll call it the Alexander! No, Jackson! Jax! Oh…

“Ajax!” Lex said out loud right in front of a girl he knew of. Her name was Kwan. He only knew her by her appearance and that speed of hers. He stopped in place as he noticed her hauling something, but more so worried that she just heard him scream out the name of cleaning product brand. He looked at her with embarrassment written across his face. His mouth partially opened with a hint of a smile of his face. It was like he wanted to smile, but was still caught off guard. “Hi, nice to meet you. I don’t shout random shit like that normally. Oh, and I’m Lex, seeya around!” Lex said so quickly it was nearly incomprehensible. He smiled by just flashing his teeth before walking off deeper into the wilds. A fake smile was better than none to Lex. I hope she wasn’t thinking I was saying she needed Ajax... She’ll live… and that’s saying something in this world.

Lex continued forward, ready to start his so called adventure to find something new and name it after a cleaning product brand. What could go wrong?

A heavy sigh escaped through the lips of a young man as he adjusted his blue short sleeved shirt. His eyes narrowed with annoyance as he thought to himself. Third time doing this shit and… He heard a guy laughing as he passed him through the corridor of the bunker. It was bad enough that the world he once knew was gone, but to have half of who survived it die from a sickness that gave him the power to turn into a pile of kitty litter was just WRONG. Meeting the guy’s eyes, Lex spoke.

“What’s so funny?” Lex laughed along as he then looked around at a few people in his surroundings. “I think this guy finally got a good look in the mirror!” Lex said to his mock audience. The stranger was initially confused before realizing what Lex was implying. Lex’s victory grin was exchanged with beautifully displayed middle finger, and that is when he felt his work done. He walked away while tucking his hands in his pocket, only to frown. I probably shouldn’t have done that to him. Lex thought to himself as he just walked in no particular direction. He often found himself walking to no apparent destination while pretending the world is what it used to be. Countless people passing by, trying to get the day started or over with. The screeching brakes of driver who did not react fast enough, and the horn of another who is trying their best to safeguard their life and property. The breeze that blows through that can either be your friend or your enemy depending on the season. Lastly, the sky, the beautiful sky filled with pearly white clouds. Lex thought as he found himself right outside of the bunker looking up at how gray and ominous the sky now looked. “My power is to break apart into ash… or dust… Stupidest thing life ever gave me.” Lex said to himself as he decided to hang out where he was to get some “fresh air” or some good conversation.

He had wasted the day trying to accomplish something with his power and get a decent meal in. Like the commander had said before, resources were becoming scarce. He watched people come and go, trying to attain resources. Some left and came back empty handed, while others had not made it back at all. One individual had stuck out more than the rest. It was rare for him to spot a female leaving the bunker and going into the wilds alone. He thought about possibly tagging along until he heard someone make a comment about her to another while she was far away enough not to hear.

“That girl is strong.” He emphasized on the word strong. “You know she can’t even sleep on a cot because she’s so heavy?” The two men were passing, so Lex did not have enough time to hear the entire conversation. He looked out and watched her go off on her own until she was out of sight.

That kind of sucks… But still better than what I can do. Lex thought with a slight grin. Perhaps she’d be his good conversation. If she came back soon enough, he would say something like, “Hey you! Arm wrestling match! Now!”
