Will probably edit this a bunch of times, but I'm basically done.

After slipping into a pair of flats, Lilie hobbled out the door and hummed to herself, taking careful steps as she walked to the Sinnenodel dorm. The song from earlier was stuck in her head, pleasantly swimming in a fizzy warmth. It was so bouncy and energetic that it was impossible for her not to hum it. She hummed happily all the way to the Sinnenodel dorm, happily breathing in the night air. She knocked once and waited patiently, rocking on her heels for a few seconds before wincing. Hm, she shouldn't put too much weight on her cut foot. Maybe she could get Aaron to carry her around tomorrow, too. What a silly thought! No way she could ask that, it would be pretty embarrassing. He looked like he wanted to hide when the princess saw him, no doubt he'd probably feel the same if other people saw.

Apparently, all this thinking caused her to zone out, realizing that no one had responded. It was pretty late, maybe Aaron went to bed. After a few seconds of thinking, she decided that she should probably leave his jacket somewhere he would see it. The floor was her first instinct, but when she started folding his jacket in half, she was distracted by the feel of the material. It would be a shame if it got dirty, right? But where could she put it where it wouldn't get dirty and Aaron would see it?

As she spun around, she spotted the mailbox. Of course! He always got the mail! She patted herself on the back for this genius idea, though it didn't last long as she tripped and hit it. "You'll have to excuse me, I'm not at my best," She apologized to the mailbox, nearly bursting into a fit of giggles as she carefully stood straight. "I've been gone for a month, I've been drunk since I left!" She draped his jacket respectfully, making sure it wouldn't slide off before bounding back to the Eve dorm.

If they got the bad luck of the draw with the guard, then Her Highness was in serious need of pruning the numbers. Eris openly rolled his eyes in disdain, unhappy with everything. It made things worse that this was a known issue that had yet to be resolved; the incompetence was just offensive at this point. He let himself realx on the drive over, figuring playing at complacency would earn him more points than being difficult. No doubt once word got out this would be all over the news, and he wouldn't be surprised if people already knew. It would've been nice to put a lid on it now, but he couldn't guarantee keeping everything hush hush.

He found nothing of interest when the detective spoke to the princess with the sole exception of her sister being mentioned--he quirked an eyebrow in interest, even if he was sure he wouldn't get any more information on it. Last he heard, the two weren't exactly on buddy-buddy terms, so it wasn't surprising that Nox would want to use any excuse to swoop in onto Ryner's territory. He stayed quiet, taking one of the seats when invited and removing his mask out of respect. Alderman wasn't nearly as approving, doing poorly to disguise his distaste, but Eris had to make a mental note to see what he could do about his awareness.

"Better to wait in comfort than in a cell," He replied wearily, running a hand through his slicked back hair. "If word got out to the wrong people about a certain someone being involved, I'm sure someone would be swooping in to collect." He gave Salem a knowing glance, resting his chin on the palm of his hand before looking at the princess once more.

"There's going to be some buzzing around the Academy once people start asking questions, and I'll offer an apology now for any unwanted attention. Life in the limelight does have its cons," He wasn't exactly expecting to get arrested, but he'd at least make an attempt to stay on her good side. "If it would please Her Highness, I'd be happy to offer my assistance in hushing the outburst."

The Hyur wasn't looking too happy by the time J'torha stopped talking, fingers gently tapping the wood of the desk. Clearly, he thought that the Miqo'te was either delusional or stupid. Probably both. He shifted in his seat as he leaned back, eyeing him warily as he thought to himself. It looked like he didn't want to back down, or at least, needed more convincing, but when the doors opened, he sat up. The arrival of Kajin had him sinking down slightly, and he seemed to teeter between complying and telling them where to shove their demands.

Tillman gave the new arrival about two seconds of attention before deciding to address J'torha. "...I suppose there's no need to drag in any officials and bring about more attention," He muttered as he would stand.

"Most everything is in that cart outside," He stated, placing the stack of documents down in front of J'torha. It was an itemized list of everything that was put up for auction, including what was sold and what had yet to go up. Underneath was a parchment of a different material. "Take it all and get, I've had my share of embarrassments to last me a decade and the sooner you lot vacate, the sooner I can try to settle my reputation."

Lyveva watched as Kajin marched in, her earlier eagerness at its peak. "Think we should bust in, too?" She asked, eyes bright with glee more than concern. She was practically bouncing in place, ponytail swinging wildly.

The Highlander was surprised to see Theodore approach them, nudging his partner to quiet his laughter. The two listened to the inquiry patiently, the name mentioned putting the Highlander into thought for a moment. He mumbled something to himself before looking at his partner, who wasn't entirely sure what he was talking about at first.

"Not entirely sure about the name, but someone fitting that description was reported to have gotten into some kind of fight over in Vesper Bay, shortly after departing from the docks here," He recalled. "The man with the scars wielded a sword and shield--reckon he's a gladiator, which isn't too uncommon, but what really got folks talking about the fight was him holding his own against a fighter from the Far East."

"Right, right! Harold told me about that!" The other finally realized what he was talking about. "He was strong, but he couldn't catch the slippery fighter. Throwing daggers, jumping about...it was quite the show! Eventually, the bloke decided to just run away and the rogue followed suit, but I don't know what happened next."

"I don't think it was an ordinary rogue," The Highlander corrected him. Not by the moves that I heard were used."

Suki looked up from the children, taking a second to adjust the young kit on her hip. "I don't have anything like that on my person, but Eji is a young Xaela--younger than Suki'a," She decided to try to describe him. "He has well-kept blue hair, fair skin, and golden eyes with light blue limbal rings. He's extremely antsy around strangers and very skittish, if you aren't careful while approaching him, he'll run away."

Nikulas sighed, turning towards the house he had been standing on. "I think he's likely to have run back to the pool," He said. "That's where we were supposed to stay while Suki was trying to get back to the house."

Suki'a huffed, shaking his head. "But if he was scared, then he's probably hiding!" He pointed out.

Kiku's jaw dropped when his teammate revealed that they had met before. Have they? His face did look a little familiar, but it didn't ring any bells right away. Well, it wasn't like they were complete strangers, but Kiku didn't think they had ever interacted outside of the classroom. Maybe they did and he didn't remember? It wouldn't be the first or last time that someone had revealed that they had met before; he supposed this was a (repetitive) heads up from life telling him that he needed to be more attentive to the people around him.

And then it turns out they were a little more than just acquaintances--they were brothers! Well, brother-in-laws? Stepbrothers? Either way, Kiku heard the word 'brother' and perked up immediately. He had been surrounded by women (and his father) his whole life, and he was getting a brother his age? It seemed too good to be true, honestly. He'd be lying if he said he didn't like the idea.

"I...probably should have known that," Kiku admitted sheepishly, lowering his gaze for a second before bringing himself back up. "Sorry! Guess I should pay better attention!" He laughed, mostly at himself.

As to what to do now that they were brothers, there really was one thing to do. "We'll have the upper hand over the other squads since our bond is going to be tighter than theirs!" He was pumped as he spoke. "You'll see, Ria's already warming up to you, so we're getting a head-start the other teams wish they had." Better that they had that than rivalries.

Imbecile was a lot nicer than what Eris would've called him. After tearing his death glare away from the guy and a not-too shocking swarm of much more competent guards, the blonde's gut felt a little twisted as he looked at the body once more. Something about it gave him bad vibes, a sinking feeling in his chest. Maybe he just felt guilty for not doing more, but that seemed irrational. It was too late by the time Alderman had found her, and far too late for anyone to do anything now. He clearly didn't know what to do with himself and was all too glad for the frumpy vampire to start running her mouth.

Except for when she mentioned having to take them in.

They had gotten more attention than even he wanted, especially in this type of situation, but there wasn't any time to even try to talk his way out of this. Throwing Alderman under the bus was probably a poor idea, so there really wasn't much he could do in the moment. "What--Hey, now, easy on the merchandise, this suit is vicuña!" The protest came as he was pushed in, begrudgingly moving quicker to avoid getting smushed together with the other two mages and ruining his outfit. The huia feather cape alone was worth more than the car!

"The only question I have is how something like this could happen on royal grounds and right outside of a party that was bustling with people," Eris replied, pinching the bridge of his nose. "I was under the impression that the prestigious Noila Academy was at least a safe place for mages, how could someone get away with taking a life? Is every guard as incompetent as Mr. I'm-Going-to-Assume-Murdered-Means-Drunk-Humans?"

I think @Altered Tundra put one of my writing samples through this and I think it was Stephen King.
