Luke is incredibly happy-go-lucky, carefree, and nonchalant, and he seems to be in a perpetual state of bliss, an optimist before anything else that tackles any task with glee. He’s naturally courageous and dauntless, fiery as a lit match, and is almost always zestful and exuberant. Backstory:
Luke was born the child of Asger Svenson and Anna Knudsen, both graduates of the School of Death and rather accomplished Reapers, though each with differing views on the School. Asger was an on-duty Reaper, working as part of a task force that hunted Behemoths that posed a threat to humans, and was passionately focused on hunting Demons. Anna, on the other hand, had retired from the line of fire and worked in a local clinic, believing that the Society was a danger to their family.

Anna was proven correct when an operation went sour and Asger, along with 12 other Reapers, were killed in a disastrous mission to slay a rampant Behemoth in Indochina. Her worst fears confirmed, Anna longed to shelter her remaining kin, her son Luke, from the dangers of the world.

This did not end up working out much for Anna. Luke took an immediate interest to sports, playing quite a few of them in his local leagues and such, but also took heed of his father’s life and career as a Demon hunter, and was quite interested in that as well. Training himself to throw punches and kicks, Luke became a talented, though unprofessional, fighter. He also took great steps to make sure he was in good physical shape. That being said, Luke did not devote all his time to training- he had a whole slew of friends and went to plenty of parties and engaged in plenty of social activities. Anna saw him enjoying his life, but feared his 16th birthday.

When that day came, and the letter did come in, Luke was a well-built, dedicated young man that desired to follow his father’s footsteps- and Anna saw she could not change that. So Luke packed his bags and left for the School of Death, ready to walk down the path to become a Reaper.

Concept time, woo. I actually need some time to rewrite this later, since, uh, I am quite busy this weekend, but this is the overall gist, if it doesn't work I can make someone new.

Strengths:
She is always somewhat prepared no matter the situation. Even if the enemy she is facing is entirely new and has no recorded weak points, Antikythera still helps with acts such as aiming and dodging.
Deborah herself is a clever and willful girl, very outgoing and self-assured, she has a strong presence.

Weaknesses:
She needs proper back-up, Antikythera is a great source of information, but sometimes that information will come out as inevitable defeat if what she needs to do is beyond the limits of her body, which is not physically enhanced by magic.
Deborah comes out as aloof and hard to approach, she has a hard time chit-chatting about the more casual topics and she does not take well to people who act irrational, though her interpretation of what counts as that is quite wide.

Fears:
The biggest one is, of course, the 0% chances and dead ends she can detect with her magic, especially when she isn’t sure it's just an issue with the way she is using the magic.
She fears regret a whole lot, not making the right decision and suffering for that.
She also fears boredom, a dangerous reality when her magic takes away the joy of a lot of things.

Personality:
Deborah is a confident and elegant sort of woman, looking a few years above her age, she is the type of person who always seems to have a smile on her face yet rarely seems warm to anyone. She might seem like a no-nonsense type, which she is for important topics, but in truth, she is actually quite likely to get completely fascinated by the simplest of things, especially if it's something the Antikythera ‘s analysis can’t ruin for her. She doesn’t care about house prestige, only personal distinction, after all, being the ancestor of a great fisherman won’t put a single fish in your plate, as such she is quite friendly to greenhorns (in her own distanced way) despite having the looks of someone who would despise them, provided they, of course, accept she knows what is best, as she doesn’t take criticism very lightly.

Backstory:
Despite being a Scion family, Deborah’s house is an ancient one, with ties all the way down to ancient Greece as a cadet branch of Strigiform. The branching happened over a desire to simplify and standardize the clairvoyance and precognition magic traditional to the house, culminating in the Antikythera machine. Her family has been historically very reserved, yet somewhat infamous, as in the past they were very keen on stopping magic from being used for political reasons, which mostly dealt with corrupted nobles, though could also include, say, a certain French national heroine and saint, as the perceived crime was not siding with demons, but using any sort of magic against normal humans.

All this was long past by the time Deborah was born, however, and she grew in a house of great wealth and isolation, her family was lenient towards behavior, always a bit indulgent, but very strict in their lessons and demands, nothing below exceptional was acceptable. Deborah didn’t mind that, from a young age she found joy in success and the act of exploring her magical powers to be quite interesting.

Internal tournaments between members of the house were common, and Deborah quickly rose among the ranks with the clever use of the Antikythera magic, establishing herself quickly as one of the rising heirs to the family. Her house hadn’t gone to the School of Death for a few generations, preferring to keep training homegrown, so it was a bit of a shock when the girl announced her intention to apply to the school.

Magic: Ryanne’s magic will manifest in clear or light yellow colors, and manipulates the vibrations of objects and at higher intervals people and animals, as well as lets her hear vibrations that occurred in the past. In essence, she can hear back in time via the memory the objects have of vibrations they picked up. This does not give her sight, and she can only go back up to fifteen minutes. During the time that she is doing this she needs complete silence in the present, as any vibrations from footsteps or voices will disturb what she is trying to hear from the past.

Strengths: Although Ryanne is mostly blind, she has incredible hearing, sense of smell, and touch. Her father taught her basic hand to hand combat and how to sense what direction an opponent may be coming from by listening to the air and objects around her.

Weaknesses: Ryanne is mostly blind, so without voice indicators she cannot typically sense how a person is feeling or what they are thinking, and is unable to describe people outside of their voice or how heavy they sounded.

Fears: Water, hearing loss, people thinking she is a pity case and not worthy of going to the school.

Personality: Ryanne is aloof at first, but once she becomes comfortable around others she opens up. She is a sweet and caring girl, but her lack of sight means she is sometimes awkward in social situations. She is quick witted, having grown up in a boring area she listened to a lot of comedy albums and learned how to be funny to ease tension in a room. She hates when people think she needs help or that she cannot do certain things because of her lack of eyesight.

Likes: Soft and fuzzy textures, low volume music, sitting in a garden or on a balcony in silence so she can listen to nature. Flowery smells and the smells of good food cooking. She LOVES candy.

Dislikes: Burnt or rotting food smell, as it clogs up her nose and makes it harder to smell for a while. Loud noises and crowds. Overly-solicitous people trying to ‘help’ her.

Backstory: Born in Midland-Odessa to a wealthy oil investor, Ryanne grew up in a well to-do family. She never really cared about this much, as her sight was gone by the time she was twelve so things that money can buy don’t interest her. Her father always told her that somewhere way way back in their family line there was a magic user, but until she received an invitation to attend the school she had always thought it was just a story. Knowing that she would be blind at an early age, her father invested early in teaching her self-defense. He never wanted her to be taken advantage of because of her lack of sight.

Hobbies/Interests: Though she cannot see, she can feel, and using this Ryanne paints. Using the textures of thick splotches of paint to create what she thinks things look like based on memory and feel. She also likes to write, and has a special laptop for typing in brail.

Other: She has a specially trained dog that helps her get acclimated to new places. He is a black lab named George and wears a special halter with a handle and a vest marking him as a service animal. He is not especially needed for her to get around, but he does make it so that she can relax slightly in new places.

Magic: Though Vanessa arguably has no connection or skill in anything magical, were such a thing to manifest, it might just take the form of an ability to enhance her senses, specifically her vision. Such a thing might even let her see creatures through their supernatural disguises, in the dark, in a storm. But who knows? It's not like she can do any magic!

Strengths:
Vanessa has a sharp eye and is effectively skilled enough to take an inpromptu position as a close-range sniper or point girl. She's strong and capable, with an impressive physique even before her admission. What she lacks in extra-natural ability she makes up for with undying determination and hard-nosed competence. She is a survivor and will look for the solution rather than worry about what might happen.

Weaknesses:
She appears to have little or no connection to the magical arts whatsoever, owing, at the very least, to never having had any talent activated. As such, she is immediately at a disadvantage when the magics come out, and without her weapons or restrained, there isn't much she can do. People could also theoretically make her zone out by talking about her parents.

Fears:
Vanessa has seen her worst fear come to life. Now she fears that the demons will overrun the earth. Deep down, Vanessa is intensely scared of demons - the more inhuman-looking, the worse they are. And, without any apparent reason, cats.

Personality:
The perfect picture of a put-upon war survivor, Vanessa is generally quiet and frowning. She has issues relaxing, and can generally be found looking for the exits and the best places for an ambush whenever she enters a new place. She is often on guard and tense, and has issues with standing up for herself in other ways than getting physical.

Backstory:
Vanessa is the daughter of Lieutenant Reginald Knight, an army officer stationed in the Oceanic region. She moved around with him for most of her young life, adopting the style and knowledge of your regular nomadic military daughter.

Approximately two years ago, all contact was lost with the latest such of her homes, when the base on an island in the Pacific suddenly went silent. Investigation revealed a mass of blood and burnt buildings. Only a handful of survivors were found, two of which have since gone missing. Vanessa was found during day two of the investigation effort, locked in a basement with a whole arsenal of guns, covered in blood and clutching a knife in desperation. Few bodies were ever discovered in the area, but there can be - should be - no argument about what terrible events transpired to exterminate a whole base of soldiers.

On interrogation, Vanessa let slip that she fought back. Whatever transpired in the rest of the interview, it was enough to put her on the interest list, despite having no apparent lineage to speak of. Now she is at the school with nothing but trinkets from her past life.

Magic: Whilst he's completely unaware of what magic is truly capable of or how it takes hold in people - the day will eventually come where his own magical capabilities manifest to make him a daunting stalker of his prey - his footsteps and breathing, indeed all audible sounds that usually emanate from a living being seem to cease - even his hearth beat and pulse, his very presence seems to dissolve from reality, unless he made a sudden move or action you'd never think he was there - perfect for a hunter.

Strengths:

• Peerless Tracker: Years of experience hunting the local wildlife and the teachings from his father has granted Alex the capability to track both person and animal alike, it won't take much to translate this skill into the tracking of demons however.
• Artisan: Has a wide array of crafting skills in regards to wood work and is quite capable to jury-rig some sort of useful tool out of whatever materials are on hand.
• Relentless Hunter: Long nights of tracking and hunting that have spanned over years with his father has allowed Alex to go that bit further when supplies run out - he can keep a steady pace over excessively long distances with little need to rest.

Weaknesses:

• Shattered World View: Magic and demons were things of fantasy to Alex, anyone who actually believed in that nonsense was a lunatic in his mind, regardless of whatever strange or fantastical event happened in the world there was always a rational explanation for it.
  The impact of how wrong he was when the time came was stark- he's not entirely sure what's real anymore and has become increasingly cynical because of it.
• Solitary: Alex has never been one for socialising or making friends, he's comfortable with silence and enjoys being alone with his thoughts - of course he won't be rude, if someone starts talking to him then he will make friendly conversation, but in the end it's his alone time that he seeks.
  Needless to say, this can make him difficult in situations that require team work, especially if he's the one who has to lead, he was designed to follow orders or his own path - not lead it for others.
• Budding Sadist: Alex is fighting a losing fight within his own mind - he hunts because he has to, the meat and pelts provide for the family in terms of food and money, but he enjoys it - of course that could be said that there's nothing innately wrong with that, hunting after all is regarded as a sport for some people.
  Unfortunately, Alex doesn't relish the kill rather he's beginning to find that he enjoys spectating the beasts final moments in this world before he ends their suffering.
  He knows this is not right, he knows that this is not something he should enjoy - but there's something intoxicating about that feeling, Alex hopes that this new life he's about to lead won't lead to this feeling he gets to develop.

Fears:

• Enclosed spaces
• When the hunter becomes the hunted - ironically he can't stand being subject to another being stalking him for once, typically that means he's failed as a tracker and hunter.
• Land Locked - He likes his feet placed firmly on solid ground preferably at all times - tall buildings, bridges, flying, swimming, sailing etc.
• Failure - When he was growing up, failure carried a hefty price, especially when he was on the hunt - the fear of failing an incurring the wrath of a person that is no longer there to inflict still haunts him.
• Himself - Alex is afraid of what he may become.

Personality: Alex is quite reclusive, he enjoys his own personal space and time and spends far too much of that time lost in his own thoughts, by nature he is inquisitive but rarely actual asks out-loud about the thought going on in his head.
That being said it's not impossible, or indeed difficult for him to form a connection with someone, but it's frail and requires a lot of work from the both parties for it to stay strong - it would not mean a lot if he started making friends with someone and then just stopped talking to them, and vice versa - if it breaks down on the other side, then chances are Alex will not make the attempt to try and fix it on his side.
He's quiet, Alex always speaks softly and only in extreme circumstances would he raise his voice, it's reasonable to assume that Alex is unable to be angry or loud after getting to know him, it simply doesn't seem to fit with his nature or his way of talking.
On rare occasions however, there are people who catch Alex's interest, and these standards are subverted. Alex acts completely different to people he's personally taken a shine to - the difference is so stark that one would think that it's a completely different person, admittedly this happens rarely but of the few friends Alex has accumulated throughout his life they've all been people that Alex has been interested in, in a sense it's quite an honour to see this side of him, because you can guarantee one thing if you ever see that side of him; he will always be there for you.

Backstory: Alex has lived a difficult life so far, his home town is located within the Lake district of England a large expanse of hills, lakes, forests and farmland, it's a prime place to hunt wildlife and of course, to poach. And that is exactly what Alex's father did, whilst his mother was a GP at the local doctors.
Between the pair of them they made a enough money to live very comfortably in what was really a isolated town that took a few hours drive to the nearest city.
Alexander spent most of his youth traipsing around the countryside with his father, a task that was laborious at first but quickly grew on him, it wasn't long before he spent most of his time outdoors just exploring the local countryside and getting familiar with landmarks so he always knew where he was, and if needs be created his own markers to help guide himself.
Alex's father was a strong influence on him, but their relationship was more of an apprentice/master relationship than it was a father/son one, it was frosty at the best of times as well, Alex barely kept up with the expectations his father had of him, this relationship forged Alex into the person he is today.

Unfortunately Alex's mother was rarely around to break into the life that he was going through, she was engrossed in her work, and rarely had time for... trivial matters.
School had become a break for Alex, which was the opposite for everyone else - to him it was a break from what he went through every day, and as a result he excelled at practically every aspect of academia, which in turn resulted in his admission to the School of Death, his skills as a hunter on top of his academic achievements made him a prime candidate, but of course this came with it many problems on his home front.
As of now, Alex is disowned and in a way, this new school acted as a completely new life and a fresh start for him, despite being thrust into a mysterious and dangerous world he was eager to try and change some aspects of himself that he had grown to hate.

Good character idea! A few points of note that I'd like clarified-

• Her being physically weak somewhat contradicts her intensive training. While not all people are born with the same level of physical fitness, it would seem that Alexandria would be somewhat physically competent, what with 15 years of rigorous training by her family.
• Personality could be more fleshed out, seems a bit short, even though House Lionheart is a rather straightforward one, personality wise.
• Backstory could use a hair more info, I'd like some details about her family and school life, if possible. Doesn't need to be a novel, but a solid two paragraphs give a good idea about where characters come from also, mind-reading demons need to mind read

Being a descendent of the House of Lepidos, Mei's magic manifests as control over the natural world. In essence, she can manipulate non-human biological life, specifically plants and animals. However, her control over each differs greatly; she can manipulate vegetation to a much greater extent than sentient life. For instance, she can force plants to grow or shrink at will and exaggerate their physical traits. Animals, however, can only have their consciousness manipulated, rather than their physical bodies. Mei could calm a rampaging bear, but she could not force it to grow bigger paws or fangs. She also cannot heal plants or animals under her control, or give them unnatural traits; Mei can only change what is already present. For example, she can change the size of a rose's thorns, but she cannot force a blade of grass to grow thorns. In addition, dead matter cannot be reanimated; she could not bring an animal back to life or revive a dead tree.

Mei is very fond of both plants and animals-especially given her brand of magic-and has some self-taught botanical and zoological knowledge. Despite the pride she takes in her family, she often feels a great deal of pressure to meet the expectations placed on her. She is hyper-aware of her own shortcomings, and while she does her best, she often pushes herself too far to perform. Mei isn't always aware of this, and can sometimes become self-destructive when she becomes overly stressed.

Backstory:

Mei Lepidos grew up in a luxury high-rise condo overlooking San Francisco. Her parents, both wealthy and renowned Reapers, had high expectations for her the moment she was born. From a young age, she was given every opportunity to succeed due to the wealth and power of her family. At the same time, however, a lot was taken away from her; while her parents loved her deeply, they steered her every move toward becoming a Reaper in their stead. As a result, much of Mei's free time was dedicated to training and preparation for her future occupation. Athleticism was greatly emphasized in her childhood; gymnastics and martial arts took up most of her life. Her more passive interests, such as piano and singing, were sidelined in favor of more "practical" activities.

Despite this, Mei understands the selflessness and importance of being a Reaper. She never had the naivety that most other children have of the world, as her parents educated her on the existence of Demons at a very young age. She knows all too well about the cruelty and inhumanity of their kind, as well as the significant role that Reapers play in keeping them at bay. As she matured, she stopped complaining about the brutal sparring sessions and academic pressure her parents put her through; by the age of 13, she almost began to enjoy it. At that point, she no longer needed prompting to study or exercise, instead taking it upon herself to improve. When this earned much approval from her parents, she intensified her training, as well as her proficiency with magic. She spent as much time hunched over a book or computer as she did on a sparring mat, studying botany and animal behaviors to enhance her control over both.

Despite being prepared, Mei still felt uneasy the day of her 16th birthday. Now that she was old enough to attend the School of Death, her parents were ready to ship her off to the academy to begin her "formal" training. The existence of other Legacy students-like herself-almost intimidated her. Whatever pressure was on her before was now even more extensive, given the rigor that the School of Death was known for. Still, her parents were confident in her ability, sending her across the ocean without a second thought. Mei could only swallow her fear and brace herself for whatever challenges awaited her.

The world, you have to admit, is a pretty nasty place to live in.

Violence and murder surround us and engulf us no matter where we hide, whether in the dangerous jungle of concrete in urban areas or in the desolate plains of suburbia. They follow us, creeping through every facet of our lives, and then leaping out and taking the ones we love the most, or just flat-out taking your life. Evil's everywhere, and it ain't hard to find.

But things aren't all that bad as they used to be, thanks to us. You see, they changed the history books a lot, made sure not to write about us or what we did, but back in the day, people used to get killed by all sorts of demonic creatures. Devils, witches, the undead, restless spirits, and other evil entities all roamed free, leaving the world in bleak chaos as they ruthlessly tore up the fledgling human species.

That's where our founder, Charon, the Ferryman, comes in. He was born from the Darkness itself, but unlike the other wicked beasts that came from the Darkness, Charon wanted to make the world a safer place, even if he couldn't prevent death. So he grabbed his scythe, set sail on his magical ferry, and traveled across the world, slaying demons and devils as he went and allowing some of the early civilizations to sprout up and prosper. Charon was really doing a number on all those hellish fiends, but he met his match with the mighty Behemoth demon and was fatally injured. Realizing that he would never be able to fight another demon, Charon spent his last days passing on his knowledge and skills to a group of 13 men. These 13 men and their descendants would later form the 13 Great Families, and they would pass down their talents, knowledge, and legacies through the generations.

The coalition of 13 men would form the Society of Death, centered on Charon's ideal of killing demons and assorted hellish beasts. In order to train the descendants of the original 13, along with any other students that developed an aptitude for magic, the Society founded the School of Death, an elite academy that teaches, along with traditional academics, the art of murder and the craft of combat.

The School of Death is located on an island to the southeast of the Japanese archipelago, with ancient magic imbued into the waters surrounding it to prevent unwanted foreigners from entering. The School of Death is heavily influenced by oriental themes, and is located in the center of a small but vibrant town that is built around the Academy. The School of Death is a highly secretive schools that invites only descendants of the 13 Great Families, direct relatives of Society members, and other select individuals that the school’s admissions staff notes potential in.

The School of Death is well-maintained and illustrious, with beautiful grounds and inner design, and provides a luxurious experience for staff and students alike, with dazzling dorm rooms and quality of life that very few schools in the world can boast. However, the School’s goal is to train Reapers to join the Society of Death, and it engages students with vigorous and cutthroat activities in order to whip them into shape. The Society is currently headed by Headmaster Yasue Hiroji, a Japanese swordsman and mercenary for the Society of Death that is known for his tough moral code and tougher standards of teaching.

With a surprising resurgence of Demons in recent years, the Society is in greater demand for Reapers than ever before, and it’s up to a new year of students at the School of Death to fill those shoes.

School of Death Further Details

The School of Death’s student population is informally divided into 3 groups-

Legacy students are directly related to one of the 13 Great Families. They are known for being very experienced in the whole Reaping department and are typically well-respected among their peers.

Scion students are related to another family member that was a Reaper and attended the School of Death. They usually have some knowledge in Reaping and make up a large percentage of the school’s population.

Greenhorn students are selected by the Admissions department from the world population as extraordinary cases of talent and are invited to attend the School. They have 0 experience in Reaping or Magic and are forced, in essence, to perform “trial by fire.”

The School attempts to make all students feel welcome, but natural differences in knowledge prevail once attending the school, a rigorous 3-year program that students begin at the age of 16.

At the School, students take an Academics class (usually taught by some poor bloke they make stay at the School) that covers all the key points they need, but also take classes in Magic Manipulation, Close Combat, Demonology, Physical Education, and Sparring. Each of these classes are taught by actual Reapers and are usually highly intense.

At the end of the first school year, students participate in a final exam called the Death Challenge. The Challenge is a rigorous field exercise involving real Demons in a real place on Earth. Required to escort a training robot through a dangerous location, the Death Challenge is known for a significant rate of injury (usually several severe injuries every year), and even higher rate of failure. It is well-known as a difficult task of Reaping knowledge, but also a great hurdle for first-year students to leap over and land upon even greater tasks.

Society of Death

The Society of Death is a cabal, one that remains as secretive as possible, remaining underground and using discreet tactics to fight Demons and other evil creatures. An organization both quiet in notoriety but massive in scope, the Society of Death has secret lairs all across the world where trained Reapers can meet, rest, and then embark on expeditions to kill Demons.

Reapers are, for the most part, graduates of the School of Death, and usually work full-time as agents for the Society of Death. The Society of Death, in turn, uses its vast accumulation of funds to pay for Reaper bills along with life insurance (one that is rather significant, considering the danger level of the job.) Typically, these bills pay for a middle-class upbringing, and the Society provides fake employment details for the Reaper to present to anybody but immediate family. (An exception to this is those in Great Families, who have greater access to Society funds along with their own personal fortunes that allow them to live cushiony, upper-class lives).

The Society is a dangerous place to work in, but is also a position that few can attest to- protecting the human race for a living. That’s got to count for something.

Magic

We all have a touch of magic in us.

Magic is a power naturally present in many of the magical creatures that reside on Earth, but among humans, it is often not discovered. Humans are a very cynical creature, often rejecting the concept of magic as either sacrilegious or unreal, part of a nonexistent fantasy world. The School of Death, however, teaches students to unlock the magic inside them, and use it to fight back against Demons and other evil creatures.

Magic requires dedication and focus to unlock, but most importantly, must be unlocked by another person with magic. Charon’s gift to the 13 Great Families was this power, and they have since spread it on through the School of Death to continue the practice of magic.

Magic among humans typically manifests as a single power- for example, fire manipulation or mind-reading- that can be expanded and perfected through practice and concentration. Typically, early Magic users will have difficulty effectively using Magic, especially in high-stress situations, but with due practice and determination Magic can be integrated into their careers.

Typically, Legacy students will have some experience with magic when entering the School of Death, while Greenhorn students will walk in with approximately zero. Magic tends to have similar characteristics in families, so Legacy students should expect to have similar (though not always identical and occasionally entirely different) magical abilities as their parents and siblings.

13 Great Families

The 13 Great Families are ancient clans, descendants from the 13 original apostles of Charon. They have maintained their position as leaders of the Society of Death and families of Reapers. The Great Families typically have large numbers of children due to the high mortality rates of fighting demons, and are all immensely wealthy, unlike other Reaping clans.

Lionheart

Nullus homo sine fortitudo
The House of Lionheart is perhaps one of the most famous and renowned of the Great Families. Typically wielding powers related to fire or heat, the House Lionheart is remembered for their combat bravery and fearlessness in combat.

Truehorn

The House of Truehorn are perhaps the Lionheart’s greatest rivals, emphasizing valor and magnanimity before anything else. Truehorns typically wield self-enhancing magic, like strength or speed “buffs,” so to speak.

Heavenwing

Volare Altius et Exaltus
The House of Heavenwing is a much more passive clan than the previous two, with those born under its banner taught respect, humility, and being protective. Heavenwings normally receive powers related to either wind or healing magic.

Oceanfin

Ne malorum obruent
The House of Oceanfin is known for hunting Leviathans- a dangerous beast on water that can only be matched by talented Reapers. As such, the House of Oceanfin brings bravery to the table, along with creativity, cunning, and caring. They usually wield powers related to water or the sea.

Strigiform

Quod sapiens facit mirabilia
The House of Strigiform is reputed for their wisdom and cunning, being known as strategists and tacticians before fighters (but being talented in the latter as well.) Typically Strigiforms have powers related to psychic abilities, such as clairvoyance, telekinesis, et cetera.

Nightburden

In tenebris non mentior
Those in the House of Nightburden get a bad reputation for their House because of a famous Reaper that betrayed the Society and joined the demons, later killing nearly a hundred mortals before being stopped. This reflection is untrue- Nightburdens can be valiant warriors, typically utilizing powers of darkness and night to stop their foes.

Felidae

The House of Felidae is known for focusing on assassination and thievery, emphasizing stealth and elusiveness while moving about their careers. Those in the House of Felidae typically possess some type of invisibility power, though a few have been known to possess luck manipulation.

Winterfang

The House of Winterfang is known for being loyal guardians and fierce protectors, those who are willing to fight injustice- but the House of Winterfang never earned fame as being prolific Demon slayers due to their emphasis on teamwork and cooperation to slay their foes. Winterfangs regularly have some sort of ice-related power.

Serpentine

The House of Serpentine are sneaky and dangerous, certainly deviating from the Truehorn ideal of a courageous fight by using underhanded tactics and devious moves to defeat their foes (to be fair, demons are no less devious themselves). Serpentines have a bad rep for being assholes, which may have some foundation, but they are also just as devoted to slaying demons. They usually use powers related to poison or venom, though a few have developed hypnosis powers.

Lepidos

The House of Lepidos are known for their deep connection to nature. Kind and caring people for the most part, the House of Lepidos are known for trying to forge a powerful bond with the world around them. They typically wield powers related to life and nature.

Ivory

Formicarum sub pedibus nostris
The House of Ivory is known for being unrelenting in strength and perseverance, and believe in offense through defense more than the other Houses. They typically wield some type of power related to the earth, rocks, and minerals.

Arachna

Et araneo vitae
The House of Arachna sheds the traditional meaning of a spider, instead focusing on the creature’s fibers and its abilities to craft webs much stronger than the creature itself. The House of Arachnea normally wields powers related to spawning creatures and creating minions, or something to do with thread and webbing.

Lacerta
The House of Lacerta was believed to have been ended two years ago in a tragic accident involving a deadly Demon. No known individuals with Lacerta blood remain.

The Book of Demons

Demons are everywhere. You may not know it, but you’ve probably met a Ghoul before, shaking your hand and selling you your house, or maybe teaching you everything you know about calculus, or perhaps driving your god damn Uber. Demons are constantly infiltrating the world, taking many different forms to do so, all waiting for their great leader to return so they can plunge the world into chaos once more.

For purposes of helping Reapers know what they’re up against, Saxon Felidae composed a book called “The Book of Demons” to help Reapers be informed about their opponents. The book is a staple of Reaper culture just like the thesaurus is a staple for English teachers and RPGuild roleplay creators. Several of the entries in the book will be listed here.

D-Class
D-Class Demons are low-level demons, and should be killed by a Reaper with ease, a Reaper apprentice with moderate ease, and an everyday human with a struggle.

Hellspawn- Hellspawn are the remains of actual, powerful demons that were reincarnated as magic. Hellspawn take the shape of small, knee-height fleshy slugs of red material with teeth. A simple stomp from a Reaper, or even your everyday average joe, will end a Hellspawn without any difficulty, but their strength, like many Demons, are in numbers. 6,000 of these little creatures biting you to death surely won’t be a pleasure to deal with.

C-Class
C-Class Demons are rather low-level Demons, but are to be taken seriously as per Society protocol. While naturally inferior to Reapers, they can put up a good fight against a lesser-trained or distracted one, along with an everyday human.

Ghoul- Ghouls are the backbone of the Demon army, the most popular Demon, and hence the most common one that any reaper will encounter. A small, black-red creature the size of Gollum from Lord of the Rings, a Ghoul has sharp teeth and fangs and will use them to try and tear you apart. Their true strength comes from after they do so- after killing you, they proceed to eat you and take your shape. The main goal of Ghouls are to lie in wait for their master, Lucifer, to return to Earth, and to assist other higher-ranked Demons.

Amalgams- Amalgams are groups of Hellspawn stitched together by magic into an animal-sized mass of flesh and heads. They are disturbing creatures, but not strong at all.

B-Class
B-Class Demons are moderate-level Demons, and can fight capably against a Reaper.

Incubi and Succubi- Demons that prey on the desire of lust, Incubi and Succubi appear as violet-colored Ghouls until they find their target, at which point they transform into beautiful sculpted humans with incredible attractivity. They are no stronger than the average Ghoul, but their allure can capture the hearts of even the most trained Reapers.

Moloch- The Moloch is a large minotaur of bronze, animated by demonic powers. Molochs have a stomach flap that they can throw their victims into and burn them, which gives them vastly increased strength if completed. They are only below A-Class because of their absolute stupidity, allowing them to be led into traps very easily.

Telemechus- Telemechus are bird-like humans with hag-like bodies and tropical, colorful, angel wings. They are known for being torturous, sadistic creatures that gang up on humans in groups of 3 and burn them to death with blasts of fire.

Legion- Bigger, better Amalgams, standing at around 9 or 10 feet tall, just above that of a Moloch, and made of many Hellspawn stitched into a strong, scary as all hell Demon. They are strong but, like the Moloch, rather stupid.

Kappa- Kappas are turtle-like creatures that dwell in water. They specialize in water combat and dragging their foes to an untimely, drowning death, but they are defeated by simply knocking them off balance and spilling the bowls of water on their heads.

Witch- A very common Demon, Witches, or Hags, take the form of old women, and typically use household items, such as broomsticks, to fly through the air and rain magic spells on their foes.

Furies- Dead spirits of typically women, though the restless souls of the dead don't judge by gender. Furies attack on droves and fight with psychological taunting. The only way to defeat the Furies are to shut out the sense of vengeance within oneself.

Belphegor- Creatures that are weak in stature but powerful in magic, Belphegor use a sort of persuasion magic to convince Reapers to lay down arms and take a nap. Beware, though, for once a Belphegor convinces you to sleep, you will never awaken again.

Pythius- Pythia are female demons with pink skin and blindfolds that can see without seeing, and can view into the immediate future, able to block attacks before they happen. Though hard to hit because of this, they go down easy once you get them once.

A-Class
A-Class Demons are high-level Demons, and may require multiple Reapers to kill.

Mammon- Mammon are kings of greed and treasure hunters, and are naturally attracted to ancient magic relics scattered around the world. Mammon are human-sized, with sickly green skin and long noses, much like goblins, but are incredibly quick and can chop down a Reaper before they realize what’s happening to them.

Beelzebub- Flying, black beasts with massive, bat-like wings and red-eyes, Beelzebubs are incredibly strong, fast, and deadly to humans.

Abaddon- Abaddons are like human men, but with great insect wings and faces, and are surrounded by locusts that they can direct to attack a Reaper and rip their skin to shreds.

S-Class
S-Class Demons are very high-level Demons. They must have multiple Reapers to take down and are immensely dangerous, even alone.

Leviathan- A massive, serpentine sea beast that is known for destroying ships with its massive body. Incredibly resilient and difficult to kill.

Behemoth- A gargantuan stone giant that stands at around 50+ feet tall and are immensely strong and durable. Loners, but that doesn’t increase your chances against one.
