"Your employer just made a very big mistake, a mistake I cannot explain to you just yet. But let's wait for him to regain control of the situation, shall we?" Priscilla was arch in her anger, waiting for David to pull out some weird power from his ass to solve this entire fracas. If he didn't in a few minutes, she was going to storm off after Lucas herself; she may not be able to use Magic openly, but she still had twin pistols holstered at her belt...

If I remember right, Freeside is where The Kings and Followers make their HQ, right?

Well, let's just say that The King and his people are more powerful, while the Followers' relations with the NCR are more tense because of The Cabal. This has bound them closer together than in Canon, and Freeside, though still dangerous, is a nicer place to live.

You could even investigate the Courier's death...

Two NCR Soldiers, part of Commander Boone's command, would briefly search and question Jessica, before letting her inside the town, which seemed to be free from the unnatural storm. It was how she would remember it, with a giant dinosaur statue close to the front and a motel building nearby, the lower levels which had been comandeered by Commander Boone as the local HQ of the NCR forces there. She would then hear rumors of unusual weather phenomena, storms and cyclones and heavy rains, all across the region, as the NCR soldiers babbled about what they heard on the radio...

Nipton

Nipton was leveled, although most of the opopulation survived in cellars and storm shelters. This left Tatsuya and Obadiah with a complication; should they pursue the Legion convoy carrying the Nipton prisoners?

Paradise 'Par' Rapids

The plan was going well; Par had promised to pay good caps and purified water, after all...
