@Themerlinhawk If you want to work on your character with the amount of world info available, yes.

@DeadBeatWalkingDid you want re PM's of the originally accepted characters?

Originally I was going to wait until the OOC was complete to ask for short sample posts, though PMs are good for now if you'd like a headstart on your character and getting accepted. It would also help me with the current worldbuilding!
Interested. Wouldn't mind having a non-human character, either, if that is preferable..

It definitely is! Glad to see more interest.
If anyone wants to discuss in-depth Poxx relations, PM ya boi. Otherwise, I figure crewmembers generally see Poxx as the Data/Spock of the bridge; Socially distant, overly professional, and kind of a stick in the mud.
Interested

Quick Question: Where in the dramedy scale will this lie?

Fluctuating. I'd like to keep it somewhat serious for the most part, interspersed with occasional 80's tongue in cheek zaniness. Not the best description, though we'll hopefully figure out the right tone with the first few posts.

Interested. I think the town might be too small to support a sizable vampire population who hunt for their prey, so my idea is for a relatively normal "blood donor" who makes their money with providing for a vampire and has maybe picked up a few vampire-like traits from repeated exposure.

I assume by exposure you mean letting the vampire feed off of them, so that sounds good with me, though I imagine they'd probably start to turn. Unsure on the vampiric rules for this universe, though I'm considering having a lot of different categories (Some vampires will be Dracula-y, some will be Nosferatu-y, etc.), so that's an idea to play with.

Hmm...interested. I will draw something up and send you a PM to discuss an idea.

I eagerly await it.

Working on the OOC as we speak! Should have it up by tomorrow. If anyone has questions, comments, or concerns, feel free to post 'em here or PM me.
This oddness creates a distinct advantage in combat operations: few living Starfleet captains show Vashara's resourcefulness, and none may match her ability to think outside the box in a fight.

Vashara: The Dominion thinks they have us beat just because our shield systems are offline, eh? Well, lets show them we our greatest defense is our offense."

Poxx: Captain I strongly advise y-

Vashara: transfer all auxiliary power to the covariant phaser pulse.

Poxx: captain

Vashara: PREPARE FOR EVASIVE ACTION

Poxx: captain pls

Tagging everybody who expressed interest in the original Nightcall thread, as I have since taken over (with some changes). If you're no longer interested due to the changes or time since you expressed interest, feel free to ignore this post.

Welcome to Pine Hollow, Oregon!

Pine Hollow is in many ways a quintessential small town. Everyone knows everyone, they're usually in each other's business a little too much, and no one ever really leaves. It's the kind of town where you're born, you're grow up, and you die. The town itself is beautiful, if not a little remote. There's only one road leading out to the highway, and the town is surrounded on all sides by dense forests. Fortunately, this gives the town a buffer between itself and the rest of the world.

In this universe, monsters, paranormal entities, supernatural beings, and cryptids are uncommon, but still very real. Big cities are havens for vampires and the occasional ghost or gremlin, but are usually mostly human-populated. Supernatural beings that have more trouble blending in than the usual werewolf and mothman tend to live on the fringes of society, though there are few exceptions -- four towns, in total -- of communities that are at least half-supernatural. Pine Hollow is one.

So, let's get right down to it! Characters will be members of Pine Hollow Supernatural Investigation, a run-of-the-mill paranormal investigations team that does everything from exorcisms to trapping chupacabras. As the requirement for a position with the company is a six-month training course and a high school degree, characters will (hopefully!) come from many different backgrounds.

I'll have more information tomorrow! Sorry about the bare-bones Interest Check, trying to roll this out as quickly as possible so that the OP of the original interest check doesn't get flooded with notifications for a RP he's not really feeling anymore.

Here's the OOC

Name
Xiril Poxx
(seer-uhl pocks)

Age
44

Rank/Position
First Officer

Race
Cephanian
The Cephanians are an aquatic humanoid species from the planet Cepha. Hailing from a completely submerged planet, Cephanians have mucous-producing skin, gills, webbed fingers, and other fish-like characteristics. They are a quiet, private people known for their humorlessness and brevity.

Appearance
Most say Cephanians all look alike. As the only differentiation between male and female Cephanians are that one is blueish green and the other is greenish blue, this is not entirely without merit. Though Commander Poxx has dark blue stripes lining most of his body, this is hidden by his uniform, leaving the rank-denoting stripes on his sleeve the only face-value distinction between himself and any other Cephanian. Though not especially short or tall, Commander Poxx's Cephanian biology leaves him with very little fat, giving him a somewhat muscular physique.

Personality
Commander Poxx's mannerisms and personality are fairly standard for a Cephanian. He keeps most interactions as brief as possible, spends most of his time off alone in his quarters, and has little patience for galas and ceremonies. Other than his work, Commander Poxx has three hobbies; swimming, underwater horticulture, and martial arts.

History
Xiril Poxx was hatched on Cepha, spending his youth absorbing the culture and knowledge of his people. His father, Luril Poxx, was the Chief Medical Officer for the USS Tyson, which fostered Xiril's interest in joining Starfleet from a young age. Xiril went on to join Starfleet Academy when he became old enough and was put onto an expedited path to becoming an ensign aboard the USS Highlander, after graduating second in his class. Though originally eager to become a medical officer like his father, Xiril switched divisons after his second year, and has proudly worn Command Yellow ever since. After serving aboard the USS Highlander for several years, Commander Poxx was recently transferred to the USS Orion, where he now serves as First Officer.

Skills
Though he comes off as cold, Commander Poxx's ability to distance himself from emotion and remain calm under pressure is a major asset. As a Cephanian, Commander Poxx can use sonar to maneuver in complete darkness, and stun most humanoids. His youth spent underwater has given him a heightened perception of his position in three-dimensional space, making him an excellent helmsman should the need ever arise.
