Bio

Current GM of World of Light. When it comes to writing, there's nothing I love more than imagination, engagement, and commitment. I'm always open to talk, suggestion, criticism, and collaboration. While I try to be as obliging, helpful, and courteous as possible, I have very little sympathy for ghosts, and anyone who'd like to string me along. Straightforwardness is all I ask for.

Looking for more personal details? I'm just some dude from the American south; software development is my job but games, writing, and trying to help others enjoy life are my passions. Been RPing for over a decade, starting waaaay back with humble beginnings on the Spore forum, so I know a thing or two, though I won't pretend to be an expert. If you're down for some fun, let's make something spectacular together.

Word of God literally says that "Only those of sound moral character and integrity may lift Mjolnir." Sometimes you have to kill people, especially so in worlds with super-powers.

Batman disagrees.
Well yeah, but still they way Ozpin portrayed it. I expected something more... earth shattering, shall we say. But I'll nod at the experience argument. And she could have been holding back, good characters tend to do that for some reason instead of going for the kill.

Might the some reason be that good characters don't kill people outright?
Element of surprise aside, I think Amber handled herself quite well. She just had an unfortunate case of dramatic tension when she was about to take out Emerald (Not that it would have stopped Cinder if Emerald was offed then and there, probably) with an arrow to the back. Plus Qrow literally came in at the last minute, when everyone was turkered out from the fighting. Heck I'm certain even Cinder would have a hard time taking a more-or-less fresh Qrow, Maiden powers notwithstanding.

Though it really does make me start to question just how aura works. Assuming that Amber wasn't totally pooped out, you'd figure her aura would have protected her from getting shot in the back, or at least not leave her in such a weakened state. Could be explained by Cinder's arrows being funky, but I dunno. Maybe it's one of those active passives where if you aren't trying to protect yourself your aura isn't going to save you, so people can still be assassinated in their sleep or whatever.

Also who wants to get their limbs chopped off? I think Gren should start selling cybernetic parts.

If you watch closely the part where Cinder uses a devastating fire attack against Amber, you can see her aura break just like Mercury's did in his fight.
@Lugubrious

Not entirely true. He did state that the alien war god was corrupting their leaders to attack the humans. There was also that one place where the humans and aliens were forced into a ceasefire, during which the leading alien of that area questioned why thir commanders ordered the attacks in the first place.

And the ones who thought about disobeying their corrupted leaders' orders, down on the planet, are the ones who lived.

Perhaps if one of the less powerful, more human gods had got to the spaceship first, they'd arrive in time to try and convince the aliens to stop attacking only to find out that they're corrupted, and witness a few more millions dead. Though Aforgomon didn't have the best interests of anyone really in mind, its solution alongside Thalios most likely results in the least continued loss of life out of any solutions.

I had been meaning to ask, and please be assured in a mostly joking manner: Perseus, is your chief intent as a GM is to screw us over in creative ways? So far you seem to have taken a great joy in presenting us with catastrophic situations.
@Zelosse Well... that's horrific. Just mass murder thousands, many of whom are only confused and half heartedly following orders, all to save the humans, which I don't think either God particularly likes. What about Amgarrack @Lugubrious? :o You pledged eternal friendship and now you're going to kill thousands of his loyal worshippers! Interfering in a mortal war, blasphemy!

On a more important note, destroying the ship throws a wrench in the plans... But not a big enough one! Muahahaha! This disaster will have... consequences. :D

In the meantime, I meant to go to bed hours ago, yet here I am... Gonna change that. Post tomorrow! Night!

Aforgomon told them to not murder millions of humans, but they went and did it anyway. If hey really thought what they were doing was wrong, and you seriously didn't make that clear, they haven't done anything except continue doing it. Most Nazis weren't fanatical believers in Hitler, but whether they heartfully followed orders or not, they still committed atrocities under his dictatorship, and were held responsible. It was these aliens that were interfering in a divine war: Aforgomon versus the being that took Amgarrack. Gods messing with mortals is never blasphemy. And, Aforgomon said how it regretted depriving its kin of subjects. Also, it didn't say 'friendship', as such a notion is not known to Aforgomon. It pledged a covenant, and the covenant is still in effect. Aforgomon is for Amgarrack; just not his bloodthirsty people.

Also, I find it funny that you'd tell us how horrific it is that the gods would kill thousands just after the aliens wiped out all the humans in every major population center on Earth. New York, San Fransisco, Tokyo, Beijing, Hong Kong, London, and many more, all vaporized. Is that not more horrific?

You be awesome!

That is such an incredibly adorable creature. Is it a Shiba?
Yeah, I'm not the GM, take my ideas very un-seriously...I forget the word for it.

Flippantly? Loosely? With a grain of salt?
General Sanders – With Frenzy Plant

@raijinslayer@liferusher@oblivion666@hatakekuro@Caits

Among other things, it had been an exciting day of matches. Though his heart was old, Sanders could still feel the hype of combat. The soldier might leave the battlefield, but the battlefield never left the soldier. Even as time wore on, Sanders’ memories of the horror that war, especially with magic, could bring never faded away, but it gladdened him to see sportsmanship and talent in a controlled setting. What worried him, however, were the instances where those qualities were sorely lacking. Sanders recalled some of the brutality passed out by select members of the guilds over the three days of Games, the vast majority of them squarely on the shoulders of Phoenix Wing, though in response other guilds were no longer pulling their punches either. More dire than the fact that Phoenix Wing’s wizards seemed content to carelessly unleash their power, however, was the fact that they flaunted it so. Admittedly, the one called Angelo appeared to sincerely regret the deadly wounds inflicted on Jackie, and Nolan had made up with Indigo despite attempting to break her spirit with a ruthless psychological attack, but Damian and more tellingly, Jamie Beltras appeared convinced that they did nothing wrong. As the soldiers of Frenzy Plant piled out of the Doma Flau, with Sanders smack dab in the middle, he hoped that his faith that Phoenix Wing wouldn’t step any farther out of line was not misplaced.

Thirty minutes later, the Frenzy Camp had come alive. People bustled between the tents, though rather than mending things as an army usually did when standing still, they brought enjoyment and entertainment. People need only reach out to find whatever food or drink they wanted, and Edith Riggs kept up a stirring sequence of melodies. Virgil and Jillian danced, and a bashful Ni consented to waltz with Kilo, despite their ridiculously disparate heights. Even Cecilia, solemn and boring, laughed and cut a clumsy but merry jig with an enthusiastic Kumbha. Nandy Rewman, the young Book Mage, approached a reserved Arivaderci and timidly asked the naga if she might like to dance as well, and got a rare smile for his efforts. Nevertheless, he was immensely put off…until an equally-shy Ange requested the dance instead. Even the higher-ranked soldiers joined in; Jane knew jolly jigs and ditties from her pirating days, Xyster showed in full the disturbing flexibility of her joints, and Owen brought along some catchy Southern tunes. Spirits were high, drowning out the residual negative energy left behind by Ike and Argus. After all Frenzy Plant had triumphed for two days in a row and was on track to be a top scorer; this party was dedicated to the competitors, especially the wounded Demetri, who chuckled from a relaxed position on the sidelines.

All the while, however, Sanders could not partake of the merriment. He listened to the stories of Owen, Hyun, Indigo, Ike, Joakim, and even Argus. In a lull in the party, he climbed slowly on top of an overturned crate. Everyone grew quiet instantly. “Good evening, soldiers. At ease, please. I do not want to keep you from your celebrations for long. Now is a time of rare respite and happiness for our guild. However, I do have a few notices to be aware of. Firstly, we welcome two new members today. This afternoon, Riona Ymir-“ he held out an upturned hand to lift the young woman onto the crate so all could see her. On the back of her neck, her new guild insignia glowed softly, red and green. “Passed the entrance exam. Hers is a style of fire, creative and colorful. I trust you will all welcome her, so that when we fight, it is as one. We also welcome Rune.”

After Riona stepped down, a man was ushered onto the makeshift stage by Hyun, who continued to support him by the shoulder. Rune appeared dazed, staring into the distant with a strange look on his face. ”Yesterday, Rune attacked one of our newer members, Magni. Thanks to the efforts of Hyun and Mercury, we were able to capture him. Today, our two lovely lady Majors convinced him to give up his ways and join the side of righteousness. Let us applaud Rune for his heroic choice!”

He waited for the clapping to die before continuing. ”Next, we have more serious matters. Today Ike returned to us from his painted world, but he has come back changed. Give him your sympathy, and if he does not want sympathy, give to him your respect. Our final matter concerns Argus. As many of you know, Argus has been running amuck since his match yesterday with Private Beardo. Today we have learned that he is a man possessed. One of the demon books of Zeref has gotten into him, cursing with dark powers he no longer wants. We are going to attempt to help him. To prevent him from boiling over, we are freeing him to go throughout the camp, but I ask each of you to be on guard and help ensure that he stays here.” He stretched out a hand, pointed toward Argus, who stood, free as a bird, at the back of the crowd. ”We did not know what we were getting into when we accepted this man into our guild, but now that we have him, he is our responsibility. We will eliminate this demon. That is certain.” A pause settled over the clearing. Then Sanders’ wrinkled face broke into a dignified smile. ”Dismissed. Party on.”

Sanders left, and the festivities resumed. A huge game of cards broke out, and another round of dancing began quickly. Kumbha hopped circles around a confused and slightly worried Ange, while Kilo, finding that Ni had slunk off in a fit of pretend harshness, danced with Jane. Cecilia and Nandy took a turn, and some of the bystanders received requests as well.

Chester stood abreast with Ike. ”Hullo. You feeling the celebrations?”

Meanwhile, a certain someone had happened to wander too close to the dance area. Jillian Suede spotted a mop of blue hair and bounced over, her wide hips swaying and her belly sloshing like a bag of water balloons beneath her spotless white dress. ”Looks like someone ain’t havin’ a good time. C’mon and dance with me, hon. Song’s jus’ startin’.” She smiled pleasantly and offered the boy a hand.
@Lugubriouserm, your character looks good, but could you remove the team and teammates? If we don't have enough players to fill out the team your characters been assigned to, then you can work with them to fill in the spot(s), but that doesn't come until later.

That'd be fine, I suppose. I had assumed that the teams would be comprised of characters from the same place, like all the Beacon students who were their team at school would be their team during the tournament. I can't imagine any of these 17-year-olds would appreciate getting paired with a giant from the sticks with no formal training. But no problem, I'll change it for now.
((Here you are. I decided to go for something a little different as well. Should be some stiff competition for all you young hotshots.))

“A quote...? Miss, do I look like the poetic type to you?”
-Adamah Fulgurate

Name: Adamah Fulgurate

Team:
AASH 'Ash'

Birth Date: January 31st

Age: 34

Race: White

Gender: Male

Designation: Vale Border Guardian

-=-=-

In Depth Appearance: Many have described Adam, upon meeting him for the first time, as a giant among men, and they cannot be blamed. Adam is just shy of seven feet tall and three hundred pounds. His stature is stocky, muscular but not at all without fat. He has coarse, red-tinged brown hair, murky blue eyes, and a prodigious mustache. Two moles appear on his forehead, right above his left eyebrow, very close together. His eyebrows are thick and dark, his nose slightly upturned, and his chin cleft. Adam's combat attire is baggy, dark blue pants crisscrossed with black, black steel-toed shoes with similarly colored socks, a burnt orange double-rope belt with an aluminum clasp, a nut-brown cloth fauld, and a black, loose-fitting martial arts gi with the sleeves rolled up.

Equipment:
Adam's prized weapon is the Pillar of Earth. It is a colossal club more like a giant, rectangular bat. Its four outward surfaces are coated with broad pyramid-shaped spikes, no more than an inch long. The steel handle can be unlatched from the huge club part head and withdrawn to be used like a hollow metal pipe, able to be swing much faster and more precisely than the full weapon. Not being made at a Hunter academy, this weapon has no fancy alternate modes or hidden guns. It does, however, have a cylindrical compartment inside the head, and when a switch is flipped on the handle the top part of the club will swing open and dispense coconut-sized bombs made with dust and rocks. A remote on Adam's person can set off the bombs' detonators individually or all at once; the trigger mechanisms' location inside the rock bombs make it very difficult for an opponent to explode the bombs prematurely.

Semblance:
Adam's semblance, called Gravity, derives from his ability to drawn friends and family close to him, thanks to his heart. Adam can power up his own personal gravitational field, drawing things gradually toward him. With focus, he can condense this gravity into a much stronger cone. Aside from pulling things in, he can also use it to mess with projectiles and other things that fly through the air. Lastly, a focused gravity cone can be 'held' to keep pulled-in objects in place, and then 'burst' to send them flying back in a desired direction. This power enables Adam to defend against enemies with lots of projectiles and dust, who he would otherwise really struggle against.

Abilities: from an early age, Adam was tough and powerful. These traits only magnified as he grew up, and nowadays Adam sports incredible physical strength. This being something that he's never dedicated too much time to, he spent a lot of his training as a kingdom guardian trying to improve his flexibility and mobility, and as such he's not a slouch in the running, rolling, jumping, and even flipping departments. There might be more physically capable individuals out there, not counting those with strength-related semblances, but Adam has yet to meet them.

-=-=-

Personality: In many ways, Adam is larger than life. He is confident and proud, with a substantial presence and voice, but not egotistical. Though capable of terrifying seriousness at times, he prefers to be a jolly, good-hearted goofball, the very definition of gregarious. Games (particularly sports), novelties, and trivialities thrill him. Not many full-grown men spout puns, but Adam is one of them, particularly since he became a dad. He cares deeply for his family and for his friends, extending his remarkable protective instincts to them. Despite this, classifying Adam as some sort of hero would be a mistake. What Adam believes in gives him the courage to fight like a man and a soldier, but not necessarily like a Hunter. Adam hates to be upset, but if something provokes him, he tends to heat up quickly. He's given to finding a routine and sticking with it, not being the most flexible. People who disagree with him or have problems with him will be tolerated, but not accepted. At his worst, Adam can be poorly-mannered, temperamental, and brutish. Those who know him, however, can attest to the great size of Adam's heart, both literally and figuratively.

Place of Origin: Palisade Town, Vale

History: Grandfather, grandmother, father, mother, son, daughter. The Fulgurate family line, though without a drop of noble blood, grand estate, legendary heirloom, or other such prestige, boasts a certain pride. For generations the entire clan has served, manning the distant northeastern wall of Vale as guardians of the realm. This heritage, unceremonious as it might be, has held true across the decades, and with it a glowing and beloved statistic: no Fulgurate ever died on the job. Into this bloodline Adamah was born in the sprawling but well-defended border town of Palisade, a settlement out in the sticks by any Vale citydweller's measure. Bearing the typical impressive height of the Fulgurate family, as well as its typical lack of wanderlust that might otherwise send an adventurous spirit away from the walls and into the bustling heart of the kingdom, Adam nevertheless proved to be an oddity, exhibiting a quality that none of his kin could match: joy.

Adam was possessed of a contagious spirit, but one entirely jovial and gregarious. He met his fair share of challenges on the road of life, but never despaired to find himself alone, for his friends were many. Palisade natives, veterans of the wars, cityfolk, faunus—none were deprived of the offer of his comradeship. Growing naturally into the role of a guardian, he became especially close with three friends, and worked alongside them tirelessly to keep their portion of the kingdom free from invasion. However, he grew closer still to Evangeline Orinj, an immigrant to Palisade from Vale's city, having recently been kicked out of Beacon. The two discovered that they were inseparable, and after a little more than a year of dating, they were married on a grassy hill. They had two sons, and lived happily, if a little on the edge.

A decade passed, and much happened. The family was struck with tragedy; the wonderful record of the Fulgurates ended. But the family slowly recovered, and moved on as best it could. When the announcement of the Vytal Festival reached them, Adamah rediscovered excitement. Convincing his three warrior friends to tag along, they enlisted in the tournament as representatives of Vale, and perhaps the fighters most representative of their people of them all.

Relations with other characters: His fellow guardians, Adva, Serafine, and Hevel. All are good friends, used to cooperation, though not to the degree of a team of hunters. He has numerous other friends, and can make them easily. Most dear to his heart is his wife, Evangeline, a fellow kingdom guardian, and his seven-year-old son.

Extra:
Like Jaune, Adam has a lot of aura.
'Adamah' is Hebrew for earth, which calls to mind the color brown. Adva, a teammate, is water-related. 'Serafine' is Hebrew for fire, with its bright orange. 'Hevel' means a breath of air.
Adam did not, of course, receive his training from a Hunter academy, and will rely on his potent natural abilities, experience, and his powerful weapon to compensate against younger, better-trained opponents.
