Very well, where do I begin? 

My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a fifteen year old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet. 

My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. 

My childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When I was insolent I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard, really. At the age of twelve, I received my first scribe. At the age of fourteen a Zoroastrian named Vilma ritualistically shaved my testicles. 

There really is nothing like a shorn scrotum... it's breathtaking. I highly suggest you try it.

Aella was eventually murdered, leaving her 'sister' Renata to flee with Yara to America.

ARTEMIS OF BANA-MIGHDALL - Champion of the Amazons of Bana-Mighdall, Artemis has previously challenged both Diana and Donna for the title of Wonder Woman and even temporarily held it before having it stripped away from her.
DIANA OF THEMYSCRIA - The original Wonder Woman. Born of clay molded into the shape of a young girl. It was blessed by the six members of the Greek Pantheon who then bonded a soul to the clay, giving it life. Each of the six also granted Diana a gift: Demeter, great strength; Athena, wisdom and courage; Artemis, a hunter's heart and a communion with animals; Aphrodite, beauty and a loving heart; Hestia, sisterhood with fire; Hermes, speed and the power of flight. Diana later served as Queen after being succeeded by Donna Troy, only to abdicate the throne to Nubia following the mysterious death of Queen Mother Hippolyta. Diana has been missing ever since.

JERRY THE PEGASUS - A winged horse from Mount Olympus and Cassandra Sandsmark's sweet sixteen gift from her father, Zeus. Jerry tends to have a mind of his own but always comes through in the end for Cassandra and Yara.
NUBIA, QUEEN OF THEMYSCRIA - The current Queen of the Amazons of Themyscria.
TROY, DONNA - The second Amazon to bear the title Wonder Woman, currently the hero Troia. Originally thought to be a child rescued by Diana, Donna was actually a mirror image created by an evil sorceress to defeat Diana. The sorceress' plot was uncovered, the late Queen Hippolyta intervened and Donna was given false memories to shield her, going on to become Diana's apprentice and later successor.
SANDSMARK, CASSANDRA - The current Wonder Woman, a daughter of Zeus and a mortal woman. Cassandra is notably the first Wonder Woman who was not raised on Themyscira.

During the height of the first World War, the Allied Forces gained the upper hand from an unlikely source; an Amazonian Princess hailing from the island of Themyscria. To outsiders, Themyscria was the mythical 'Paradise Island', home to only beautiful Amazon women, or so the story went. It was only when Captain Steve Trevor was shot down and crashed on the shores of Paradise Island, that Themyscria went from legend to reality. With the aid of Princess Diana of Themyscria, the Allied Forces gained the upper hand and ultimately triumphed in the first World War.

Princess Diana, dubbed 'Wonder Woman' by the media of the time, returned home after the war, having seen enough of 'Man's World'. It was at this time other Amazonians began to wonder about the world beyond the island's shores and so as Wonder Woman and her successors came and went from the island for their adventures, so too did others.

Desiring to see the world outside of Themyscria; the Amazonian, Aella, ventured beyond the shores of Paradise Island and sought out their sister tribe in Brazil. It was here that Aella was seduced by a local deity and would give birth to the child later named Yara Flor. Unfortunately for Yara, her mother was taken from her when she was young, leaving her in the care of her 'Aunt' Renata. Relocating to the United States, Yara would grow up without knowing of her true heritage. To the outside world and even herself, Yara Flor was just an ordinary farm girl living in the small community of Boise, Idaho. As she began to mature, her gifts manifested resulting in speed, strength and other abilities that Renata had not been prepared to deal with. Keeping these things a secret from the world, Yara never revealed them to anyone else until one fateful night, a night when a blonde warrior woman crashed into the fields of Renata's farm. 

Five years ago, the world was introduced to a new Wonder Woman when Cassandra Sandsmark took up her mentor's mantle and helped defend the Earth alongside the other heroes who would go on to become the Justice League. This is the same Wonder Woman who would eventually appear above Renata's farm in Idaho. Flying upon a winged steed, Cassandra crashed into the potato fields before being introduced to Yara, asking for the younger Amazonian's help before passing into a state of unconsciousness.

Back in 2018, Master Bruce hosted a little roleplay known as Ultimate One Universe. It had a similar concept to this one and in it, I played a reimagined version of Thor. Aside from making me known for writing sex scenes, it was one of my most successful runs in these style of games and I genuinely had a lot of fun doing it. Now, Sep is doing a fantastic job as Thor in this game, so much so that I find myself with the itch to dive back into the mythological side of things. Enter Yara Flor. A relatively new character, Yara has a lot of unexplored stories and a relative amount of freedom to go with her. 

While I will continue to portray Slade, I want to alternate between writing arcs for the two characters. Where Slade I see as a more slow-burn character, given the intention of his stories, Yara has the potential for quicker story beats and more interaction. A big portion of the drive to play her is to interact with Thor and some of the other heavy hitters Slade wouldn't likely be in contact with. 

The pushing idea behind Yara is that she has her destiny thrust upon her in the form of the latest Wonder Woman, Cassandra Sandsmark, crashing into her farm field. With Cassie as a mentor and guiding figure, Yara will slowly become Wonder Woman all while battling her way through whatever mythological and legendary fun I can throw at her. I'm excited to dive into her South American roots and explore a side of mythology less trodden. Everyone has seen Norse, Greek and Egyptian done many times over. But South American mythology is a collection of overlapping and intertwining stories that are as colourful as the culture.

Jolting awake, Yara's eyes slowly adjusted to the unfamiliar darkness. At first, her surroundings were almost foreign, the smells too clean, too natural and the world outside was far too quiet. These were just the first few hints that Yara was no longer in her apartment. Clues continued to fall in the forms of the faded Jonas Brothers poster to one of Bieber and even a half-hung One Direction graphic. This dim room could only be the bedroom she grew up in. The world outside was not the bustling city of Boise, it was rural Idaho, more specifically the farm belonging to her Aunt and Uncle. 

None of that changed the fact that for Yara, it was still markedly too quiet.

It had been getting harder for Yara to sleep over the past few nights. Her dreams were haunted with visions of bat-like eldritch horrors and their horrible screeches. There was a longing within her that she wasn't sure how to sate, a calling to travel away from this quaint life. A calling to an adventure far from here.

Perhaps her need for adventure rose from the simple fact that no one was looking to hire here in Boise. Any job that wasn't helping her Aunt Renata work the potato fields would certainly feel like an adventure at this point. An exasperated sigh escaped from between her pouting lips blowing a few loose strands of her raven-coloured hair away from her face. Yara had already put in six years between her undergraduate and graduate degrees while still fully knowing she had yet another two years of clinical experience before she'd be a fully certified speech pathologist.

It honestly felt like her life was stuck at the starting line.

Slumping down on the porch swing, the young woman let the cool night air wash over her while she sipped a half-finished tea absently left beside her bed. Yara's mind pivoted away from both school and her lack of a career as a brown bat stretched its wings under the porch's awning. The sight of the flying rodent only sent her thoughts racing back to the series of nightmares that had been haunting her slumber.

Watching the curious creature, she couldn't help but feel as though the bat was seemingly staring back at her. Flapping its wings, it let out a little screech before dropping from its roost and disappearing into the night. Sinking further into the cushioned swing, Yara felt herself relax. It was only now that she realized she had been so stiffly watching the bat. Satisfied she wasn't about to face the monsters of from her nightmares, she took another sip of the lukewarm liquid. The flat taste caused her nose to crinkle in disgust, reminding her why it had been abandoned in the first place.  

A terrible noise suddenly broke the silence. The horrible tasting drink suddenly seemed so far away. The sound of wings beating against the night air ended the stillness of the cool night as Yara spun around frantically looking to locate the sound. Above the horizon, in the light of the pale moon, appeared the silhouette of what appeared to be a horse. Its lone rider, slumped alongside the horse's mane, seemingly barely hanging on.

Losing altitude rapidly, the animal tried with no avail to land. Its feet flew up from underneath it, only to send both it and its rider tumbling through the nearly mature potato plants. Jumping down from the porch, Yara moved quickly through the rows upon rows of plants, making the split-second decision to check on the rider instead of the winged animal. 

The rider, a blonde-haired woman, was adorned in armour. Very familiar armour. Almost anyone in America would have recognized Wonder Woman, but Yara especially was a fan. Kneeling down beside Cassandra, Yara cradled her head, checking the neck for injury.
 
"I've got you," Yara muttered towards the unconscious woman. Her eyes widened as she surveyed the wounds on both the superhero and her steed. Long claw marks raked them both, claw marks that were all too familiar to Yara. Without warning, Cassandra suddenly clamped a hand around Yara's arm nearly scaring the darker-haired woman out of her skin.

"I'm here to protect-" The blonde Amazon managed to spit out, struggling to stay conscious, "...y-you." She added before her eyes closed, her body going limp in Yara's arms. Looking back and forth again between the pegasus and the superhero in her Aunt's field, Yara suddenly found herself unusually short on words.

Suddenly her nightmares were feeling a lot more real.

It had a similar concept to this one and in it, I played a reimagined version of Thor. Aside from making me known for writing sex scenes, it was one of my most successful runs in these style of games and I genuinely had a lot of fun doing it. Now, Sep is doing a fantastic job as Thor in this game, so much so that I find myself with the itch to dive back into the mythological side of things. Enter Yara Flor. A relatively new character, Yara has a lot of unexplored stories and a relative amount of freedom to go with her. While I will continue to portray Slade, I want to alternate between writing arcs for the two characters. Where Slade I see as a more slow-burn character, given the intention of his stories, Yara has the potential for quicker story beats and more interaction. A big portion of the drive to play her is to interact with Thor and some of the other heavy hitters Slade wouldn't likely be in contact with. The pushing idea behind Yara is that she has her destiny thrust upon her in the form of the latest Wonder Woman, Cassandra Sandsmark, crashing into her farm field. With Cassie as a mentor and guiding figure, Yara will slowly become Wonder Woman all while battling her way through whatever mythological and legendary fun I can throw at her. I'm excited to dive into her South American roots and explore a side of mythology less trodden. Everyone has seen Norse, Greek and Egyptian done many times over. As for me, I'm aware that I've yet to make a peep as Spider-Man. Apologies for that aswell. I'm past due and it's annoying because I have alot of ideas I'm excited for. It's just that I'm having trouble with the actual writing of it. Considering taking a bit of an overhaul to my usual style just to grow more comfortable, but I am still engaged with playing him, so... bear with me.

"Okay, Boomer."

This is the story you know. 

Jason Todd was born into poverty, growing up in Gotham’s crime alley. The son of mafioso-wannabe Willis “The Score” Todd and a prostitute named Shelia Haywood, Jason miraculously survived infancy, with Gotham’s underfunded Child Protective Services either too inept or too overwhelmed to take much notice of the boy growing up in crack houses and meth labs. His mother had custody until an arrest for prostitution and parole violation, later dying of a fentanyl overdose. In kindergarten, Jason bounced around several foster homes before the courts placed him with his father and Willis’ new wife, Catherine. Fewer drugs, more beatings.

Then one day his father left for a “big score” and never returned. As soon as his step-mom realized what had happened, she skipped town, leaving Jason alone and confused. Come to find out, the “big score” was ripping off Black Mask. Which, didn’t take long for Mask’s thugs to come around, looking for anyone at the Todd residence. They ransacked the place, beat Jason, and said they’d be back. Jason didn’t intend to be there when they returned, bailing out onto the streets.

He got picked up by the cops a few times. In and out of foster homes again. In and out of juvenile detention. In and out of school, slowly falling into any abyss of crime, poverty, and homelessness that seemed to define life as he knew it. One time he ran and managed to last a week on the streets. He saw a cop pull a car over for a traffic stop, with a box of doughnuts on the seat of the empty patrol unit. He figured that could be dinner and the cop wouldn’t notice. Instead, he wound up in the chase of his life for a couple of pastries that represented his first chance to eat in more than a day.

Which was when he ran into the Batman.

Seriously, he’s getting chased by the cops and the goddamn Batman for a couple of doughnuts. 

You’d think he’d just jacked the tires off the Batmobile...

C H A R A C T E R   M O T I V A T I O N S   &   G O A L S:
Welcome to Robin Year One. Well, Robin: The Next Generation Year One, anyway. Only hopefully without all the awkwardness of pre-beard Riker. (Where you at, Star Trek fans? I know you feel me on this.)

As much as this is exactly what it says on the tin (a Post-Crisis Jason Todd), my goal is to vary up the storytelling by alternating between stories that focus on Jason and Gotham with stories that broaden the narrative by crafting a version of Outlaws/Young Justice to be another literary outlet. In doing so, I hope I’ve adapted a mix of characters that won’t step on anyone’s toes or be disruptive.

So, I've included the team roster for illustration, but this is a Jason Todd POV. The Outlaws/Young Justice piece just gives me a way to alternate so I'm not just focusing on Gotham stories with him and can change it up to keep things fresh.

Alfred Pennyworth - Jason’s nemesis. The man is a supervillain, Jason is certain of it.

Dick Grayson - Nightwing. Hero of Bludhaven and a big brother/mentor for Jason.

Renee Montoya - A Gotham police officer who works as a school liaison officer with the Gotham public schools.

Al-x - A Green Lantern cadet (and the self-appointed leader of the Outlaws).

Tandy Bowen - Dagger, a teenage vigilante who draws on the Lightforce.

Tyrone Johnson - Cloak, a teenage vigilante who draws on the Darkforce.

Mar (they/them) - A young Plodex recently hatched in the sewers of Gotham.

Dr. Bradford Thorne, MD - The brother of Rupert Thorne, running a free clinic in Crime Alley. He tries to do what he can to help those hurt by his brother's crime and drugs, but often winds up getting sucked into the criminal underworld by family.

Rupert Thorne - One of Gotham City's councilmen, who runs the Tobacconist's Club, which is a front for an organization known as Leviathan.

Waylon Jones (Killer Croc) - Rupert Thorne's enforcer.

William and Andrew Mallory (Wrath and Scorn) - An anti-Batman and Robin formed by the sons of criminals put away by the Batman.

S A M P L E   P O S T:

I was eight the first time I stole something.

Jacked the money from out of my teacher’s purse at school. She had fifty dollars in there. I was able to afford school lunch. It was the only time I ate that day and when I brought home the change, my step-mom was so happy that I didn’t even get beat that night.

My parents kept the money, of course. Forty bucks? You can get crack, meth, or like two tabs of acid for that.

I think she got acid, and even split one of the tabs with me. It’s kinda fuzzy from there.

Yes, my step-mom gave me acid.

Yes, I was eight.

If I’m the piece of shit people tell me I am, this is probably why.

The Batman says it gives me perspective. Like, he actually said it that way. Perspective. What the fuck ever, man. What does that even mean?

I think it makes me different. Different from the Batman. Different from Nightwing. They see criminals and its all black and white. Right and wrong. Criminals did them wrong, but they’ve never been so low that wrong was the only choice left.

Case in point, there’s two reasons you’d be stealing baby formula. One, apparently the shit is like powdered gold. Shortage? Its expensive, I guess? I don’t really get it, but stealing baby formula is apparently a thing. 

But, because its expensive, hard to get, and all that shit, you might steal it so you could feed your kid.

So which is it tonight? Holy teet-suckers, Batman. Let’s find out!

The man exploded from out of the pharmacy, a case of formula clutched to the chest, as the doors popped open. He was barreling down the sidewalk with the store manager shouting and a few feet behind.

A couple of good Samaritans made a lunge to try and stop the thief.

Overhead, a grapple line shot across the sky, as a shadowy caped figure swung around to the other side of the building.

Yeah, how bored was he that he was on baby formula theft patrol?

Letting go of the line, the boy tucked and rolled as he hit the fire escape running up the side of the next building. Popping back up to his feet, a second soft pop came as he fired another line to swing up to the roof. 

Somersault and roll. It was a technique Dick had shown him. Reaching back to his utility belt, the boy pulled a pair of mini-binoculars free, bringing them up to his face to peer down at where the thief was loading his stolen goods into the getaway car that had been parked around the back.

There was an infant’s rear-facing car seat in the back.

Sirens were starting to come down the street. With his free hand, the boy reached back to his belt and pulled free a batarang. 

The car was pulling away, tires screeching as the patrol unit was racing toward.

With a flick of his wrist, the boy sent the batarang spinning down toward the road. He’d been aiming for the windshield of the cop car. 

He missed.

“Shit,” the boy cursed between gritted teeth.

The batarang skipped off the black top, connecting with the wheel hub of a passing Prius, which slung it sideways into a box truck parked on the street, where it ricocheted downward into one of the rear tires of the cop car.

Sirens blaring and lights flashing, the patrol unit was now burning rubber as it started to fishtail.

“The fu…” the boy uttered, in a mixture of confusion and disbelief, just before the cop car swerved off the road and crashed into a light pole. 

Okay, that shit was hilarious.

Was this how it was when Dick was Robin?

Don’t know. Don’t care.

He was Robin now. He knew this city. Batman patrolled the streets, but Jason had slept on them. He knew all the sounds. Ambulances racing from horror to hope. Gunshots turning happy moments into tragedies. Cops who were just criminals with a badge. And maybe a criminal or two who was just trying to do the right thing in a city that didn’t even know what that was anymore.

So some of us have done this dance a few times.

What's a character you've never seen portrayed or an idea you've never seen that you'd like too?@Sep

One concept that I've been obsessed with, for whatever reason, is the idea of the "original" iterations of some of the bigger characters. Sort of the radically different takes that were either tweaked or completely abandoned with subsequent development. For example, Superman being considerably less powerful (not even able to fly) but very much acting as a champion of the people, all people, against the tyrannical forces of evil and a lot of the systemic ones. Batman both having no qualms with killing the occasional foe, brandishing a gun, and fighting more monsters and supernatural figures in addition to the mob. Wonder Woman being as focused on the culture of Themyscira as fighting the evils of Patriarch's World, aswell as being more of a war time figure than a superhero. Alan Scott and Jay Garrick being the only Green Lantern and Flash. And so on and so forth.

I think the bigger thing, though, is a version of events where radical reinventions are more encouraged than anything resembling the canon idea of these characters. While I love seeing and writing the classic versions of these characters, there's something very appealing about seeing a game where Bruce Wayne can literally turn into an inhuman Bat-Man or Daredevil is actually a team of ninjas mentored by Matt Murdock (Does this sound familiar, @Byrd Man...). Just people going absolutely insane with the base concepts of these guys and going off script as much as possible. I think it could work as long as a more traditional outlet still existed or, more likely, everyone got sick of the regular type of game. By itself, I feel like people (myself included) would prefer to just stick to the main idea of whoever we're playing because that's all we'd have at that moment and couldn't stretch ourselves thin with another game.

As far as characters, I don't know. I feel like I've seen people play every type of character in these games. From Darkseid to Ben Urich, there isn't really a stone that's been unturned. Maybe more alternate universe versions of characters? I know the multiverse thing is already being done to death in the movies, but I like the idea of more people playing versions of the same character and having them clash or work together.
