Sensation & Wonder is a roleplay based upon the structures and mechanics of previous games run under the Absolute Comics banner but with a goal of overcoming the past games' biggest weakness; a lack of collaborative writing. As such, Sensation & Wonder is a collaborative linear sandbox roleplay that seeks to merge and mix the lore of your favourite DC and Marvel characters into one living cohesive world. The idea behind this RP is not to embody our favourite heroes to simply retell iconic stories and origins but to take these characters and make them our own. In fact, the goal of the RP is for players to take their favourite characters and re-imagine them to tell stories together. We only ask that the 'heart' of the character remains the same. Players will take the roles of their favourite characters and tell stories in collaboration with other players in order to develop and grow the world.

How heavily mixed these elements are is dependent upon the players as the world and its lore is shaped by you and your stories. Do Bruce Wayne and Tony Stark know each other? Has Lady Shiva trained with Danny Rand? Have Thor and Superman gone toe to toe? These are questions for you to ask yourself and they can only be answered as the RP unfolds!

Heroes have been a part of our culture since the dawn of time. Each and every culture passed down tales of the mortal and the immortal, their struggles and inevitable triumphs over the forces of evil. Tales of honour, of love, of defeat, deception and even betrayal. We have myths, legends and numerous amounts of lore detailing the feats and downfalls of each of these heroes. When one mentions heroes, names of classical figures come to mind but this world is and always has been home to more.

No one can be sure of the first time alien life visited Earth, it may have been before recorded history, it may have been within the last century. One thing can be sure, that before the last decade we had all but forgotten they had been here before and they returned with fervour. The names of the first superheroes had all but been forgotten, those who fought in the great wars and worked behind enemy lines in times of tension. But, those who rose to push back the alien forces at the beginning of the decade became immortalized as THE JUSTICE LEAGUE. United by a common cause, these remarkable individuals put their differences aside and learned to work together, overcoming the single greatest threat to mankind this world had seen to date.

And the world's eyes were once again opened.

Costumed heroes once thought to be urban legends and menaces by the press and authorities alike suddenly took on a new reverence in the eyes of the public and so their names went from being spoken in hushed whispers to exclaimed excitedly as they flew overhead. With the emergence of the Justice League and the predominance of these masked heroes, so too did their foes become more and more ostentatious. Escalation and accountability for these heroes began to become a hot button topic and so THE AVENGERS were put forth to calm the people. A group of government-sanctioned heroes, hand-picked and selected based on their merits and abilities, these heroes' identities were securely registered with the United Nations and are held accountable for their actions beneath a mask.

Over the last few years, the rosters of both teams have changed, some have even swapped from one team to the other and while they are by no means adversaries, the two do operate under different means. Aliens invasions and killer death robots have come and gone, but one thing remains certain, the Era of the Superhero is here to stay.

INFORMATION: _______________________________ The Worldbuiling Compendium is comprised of player submitted content such as notable locations, events and even characters as seen necessary. Players submit their desired info to the GMs who will then format it and post it here for other players' easy reference.

A.R.G.U.S.:

The Advanced Research Group Uniting Super-Humans was the secret organization formed from the Strategic Scientific Reserve, an alliance formed between the United Kingdom and the United States in order to give the allies an advantage against Hydra, the Axis Powers and her allies. Peggy Carter would go to help form the organization, eventually leaving to become the first Director of SHIELD in the 1950s, with the UK withdrawing from ARGUS. Unlike SHIELD, ARGUS remains in the shadows. Its budget and mere existence are hidden behind copious amounts of red tape. While they only have jurisdiction within the United States they often infiltrate other countries to complete their objectives.

In more recent years under the command of Amanda Waller, ARGUS follows a "U.S. First" methodology, doing whatever it takes to protect the planet and more importantly; the United States.

S.H.I.E.L.D.:

The Strategic Hazard Intervention Enforcement and Logistics Division is a United Nations-led task force created due to an influx of 'meta' or 'mutant' powered individuals being used in the 1950s during mounting tension between global powers. Built-in the spirit of international cooperation it is a specially designed task force to handle issues that individual member states cannot, without having to wade through the bureaucratic red tape often associated with legal assistance in other countries.

They have been on the cutting edge of technological advancement and have deployed superpower individuals since their inception of the 50s, with the use of the Howling Commandos led by the then Captain Steve Rogers. They have continued to grow through the years, with 189 member states contributing to S.H.I.E.L.D in funding, research and personnel. Able to respond to disturbances all over the world in a matter of minutes, their new Helicarrier program aims to have mobile bases available in every corner of the world should the situation arise.

V.R.A.:

The Vigilante Registration Act came into effect in 2012 when Wonder Woman commandeered local law enforcement during a hostage situation that resulted in the deaths of several hostages. While it was later proven that no matter who had gotten involved the situation would likely have ended the same way, public outcry still demanded some form of accountability.

The United Nations wrote the Vigilante Registration Act that states if an Official Body takes responsibility for a situation any vigilante or 'heroic' action must be sanctioned by them or registered and on retainer with S.H.I.E.L.D.

Official Bodies constitute Police Forces, Fire Services, Government Officials, Hospitals etc.

There are currently no plans to host a Discord for this roleplay unless all players unanimously want one. If even one player does not want to use Discord, we will stay with the thread.

The bell has rung kicking off a brand new year at Crestwood Hollow Collegiate and Vocational Institute, the largest secondary school in the sleepy city of Crestwood Hollow. This school year signifies the start of Jonas Lehrer's career at Mather Memorial High School, a recent addition to the school's staff. An ambitious young teacher, Jonas arrived at Mather Memorial with plans to inject life into the school, starting a new study program. Seemingly recruiting at random, Jonas has put together a study group consisting of both new and returning students. Due to this, it seems the students aren't necessarily going to get along as cliques and rivalries quickly form on the first day of class.

Taking a double major in biology and medical sciences, Jonas pushed his understanding of the human body. Crossing the border into the United States, Jonas earned his green card while attending Dartmouth College. Completing teacher's college, Jonas gained several years of experience before taking a teaching position with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Remaining on tenured staff for nearly five years, Jonas suddenly resigned one day under rumor of a falling out with his department head. Relocating back to New Hampshire, Jonas took up a teaching position at the local high school, Mather Memorial.

Situated along the Eastern Coast of the United States between Hampton and Portsmouth, Crestwood Hollow is a small New Hampshire city originally founded in the year of 1652, shortly before the infamous Witch Trials. Settled in the fertile Orlaith Valley, the city is home to a largely rural area. Boasting a very fruitful agricultural industry, the city's largest export is the Golden Delicious Apple.

Beyond the valley lies densely populated forests of oak, maple and cherry trees. This contributes to several lumber mills in the area that provide a secondary industry to the city. A quiet town, Crestwood Hollow has rarely seen a spike in crime although rates have been on a steady rise of recent months. Nothing, however, has been severe enough to prompt an immediate response from the city's police department or mayoral office.

With summer coming to an end, school is around the corner for many of Crestwood Hollow's youth. The majority of these students will be attending Mather Memorial High School, the largest secondary school in the city which collects the graduates from several elementary schools. Mather Memorial is known for several pioneering programs as it strives to encourage students to involve themselves with the world around them instead of the screen in front of them.

Among these programs is an exclusive study group starting this fall run by recent staff addition, Jonas Lehrer. A former heavily accredited university professor, having taught at such institutes as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Jonas has brought his keen mind and generous ambition to Mather Memorial. Hand-picking a group of students, Jonas aims to help them find their focus in life, developing a social conscience and setting them on a path to a career they'll succeed in. The students themselves were seemingly chosen at random, but that simply couldn't be farther from the truth. Each student was handpicked by Jonas himself, though on what basis no one can actually be certain.

Only time will tell if he truly has their best interests at heart.

Inspired by the infamous Crime Prince of Crime, the Jokerz are a gang of similarly like-minded individuals who aspire to fill the void left by Gotham's self-crowned King and Queen. Crimes committed by the Jokerz range from petty to criminal, from assaulting civilians for not laughing at their jokes to first-degree murder, rape and arson, the members of the gang are as unpredictable as their namesake. The only consistent is that everything is done in the name of a good laugh.

Much like the Jokerz are inspired by the Harlequin of Hate, so too are the Sons of Batman inspired by the Dark Knight. The Sons are best described as wannabe vigilantes who lack the Batman's discipline and training. The end result is often a group of extremists who take things too far. The Sons often wear 'warpaint', painting a blue bat-shaped mask on their face making them easily distinguishable from Gotham's scum.

Welcome fans of Marvel, DC and all comics alike. Absolute Comics is a sandbox based RP that seeks to merge and mix the lore of your favourite DC and Marvel characters into one living cohesive world. The idea behind this RP is not to embody our favourite heroes to simply retell iconic stories and origins but to take these characters and make them our own. In fact, the goal of the RP is for players to take their favourite characters and re-imagine them to tell their own stories. We only ask that the 'heart' of the character remains the same. Players will take the roles of their favourite characters and tell stories either alone or in collaboration with other players in order to develop and grow the world.

Absolute Comics - Season Two: The Monster Within, picks up after the events of Season One: Gods Among Men. Throughout Season One, the world of Absolute was established through each player's narrative arcs. In this new world, the status quo has been shaken to its core. In a world that has never had Superman, WONDER WOMAN was the first superhero to go public.

Appearing during the First World War, Wonder Woman was later joined by the likes of CAPTAIN AMERICA and CAPTAIN MARVEL who fought alongside her during the Second World War. Despite this alliance, the age of heroes did not come from this time. Though the three heroes would go on to inspire the creation of a 'Justice Society,' all would just as suddenly fade from both the public's eye and its memory. Still, the idea persisted, and some would again follow the example set by those who came before them. Throughout the seventies and eighties, rumours flourished of a 'BATMAN' terrorizing Gotham's underworld. While in the decade that followed, message boards across the early internet were set aflame with fear. Fear caused by the metahuman scare that rapidly spread across North America and then the world. Children of the 'Atom,' the general populace feared these so-called 'freaks,' these 'mutants.' In some ways, they were right to.

The most powerful of them were Gods Among Men. At the height of this scare, a young man by the name of Charles Xavier decided to combat ignorance and dedicated his life to the study metahumans and their meta-gene. While across the country, a man with the ability to wield lightning protected the streets of Dakota until his disappearance in the 2000s.

In the wake of the 9/11 terror attacks on the United States, Wonder Woman came out of retirement. Returning when America needed her the most, Wonder Woman went on to become a global figure. She dedicated her time to lending aid to those in need, all while the United Nations kept a close eye on her activity. While the general populace admired the heroine, the government feared what she could accomplish if she ever chose to side against them.

Wonder Woman was soon followed by others like her. It was a slow-burning fuse, but it would quickly lead to an inferno. In the late 2000s, an alien pod was sighted over the skies of Delaware. This was the harbinger, the herald of an era to come.

An era of hope.

It began with the first sightings of the woman the media would go on to dub SUPERGIRL. A young hero who unlike Wonder Woman, was not associated with war. Rumours of the Batman resurfaced in Gotham while New York was plagued by menace dubbed SPIDER-MAN.

In fact, New York quickly became a breeding ground for these so-called 'superheroes.' Xavier's team of X-MEN soon descended upon the city to clear the good name of metahumans everywhere, while another group of TITANS banded together, united by common goals and needs. Hell's Kitchen is under the protection of a man without fear known only as the DAREDEVIL. Down on Bleecker Street, under the tutelage of the Sorcerer Supreme, the young MAGIK protects that which lies behind the mystic veil.

Even Boston has recently had a hero to call its own, as the odd flying craft belonging to the BLUE BEETLE has been spotted numerous times over its streets. The city of Dakota is now home to both STATIC and VIXEN. Central City has adopted a hero known only as the FLASH while a new GREEN ARROW has appeared to rescue Star City.

Appearing in the swamps of Florida, the Sky God, BAAL found himself in a world not his own and lacking the majority of his power. To the West, Jump City is under the protection of a group of displaced aliens known collectively as the LEGION while out in the coldness of space, a human and god have united to create the GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY.

Apart, each of these heroes has fought against vicious foes, some more powerful than even they themselves are. But together, they united to stop a threat meant to frame metahumans as terrorists. Led by the mysterious STRYFE, the 'Metahuman Supremacy Front' unleashed a horde of nanoscopic drones which upon embedded in a victim, drove the host into a frenzy. Based on a mysteriously reversed engineered technology from Stagg Enterprises, the drones were made to mimic a metahuman attack. Fortunately for all involved, the timely intervention of the heroes saved the day.

Or at the very least, postponed a larger threat.
