"How did it come to this?" Franklin Richards asked himself, an adult and in the year 1942 and blasting through Galactus just outside of the moon's orbit.
"Galactus shouldn't have reached the Milky Way Galaxy for another sixty-five years or so. I've GOT to find that Time Gem before the timeline goes to complete hell..." he continued to think to himself flying down into the German occupied Poland warzones.
"Val and I should have never tried to reassemble the Infinity Gauntlet in 2040." he continued thinking altering reality around him to appear invisible to those around him, "One of the gems was a counterfeit, but the result of bringing it together with the other Infinity Gems left my sister dead and three of the actual gems missing. The first two were easy enough to find, but the Time Gem apparently fell into the hands of the Red Skull during World War II. I don't even know where to begin, but before the time stream is completely broken I need to see somebody who might have an idea..."
SHIELD Helicarrier, February 2016..."I know of a few places the Skull might have kept something like the Time Gem back then. If you already went back to the forties why didn't you just ask me then?" asked
an older looking Steve Rogers, Agent of SHIELD and formerly Captain America.
"I'm trying not to damage the timeline if at all possible. I think I can repair most of the damage done, possibly save my sister, if I can just get that gem back before the Red Skull taps into..." Franklin states before being interrupted by Rogers.
"You're too late kid. The Skull resurfaced in Europe two months ago and took down most of the Avengers and made me gray headed in an attempt to age me to death. He mentioned following another time traveler to this period, I'm guessing that's you... If you can fix this with that gem, go back in time to the war and get a few of my friends and bring them to the present..." Steve said already strategically planning a course of action.
"My last encounter with the Infinity Gems took a toll on my powers, and fighting Galactus in the past didn't help... but if you think this war is easier to win than WWII..." Franklin began informing before Steve stopped him again.
"You had to fight Galactus in the forties? You better hurry, son. Look for a guy with yellow eyes and a skull on his shirt. He's like the Punisher but with super strength. He'll know of a few heroes who can get the job done, his name's Marlow..." Steve mentioned, talking about his old friend Keene Marlow aka the Destroyer.
Back in the 40's, German occupied Poland...A red and purple clad man leaped and flung himself on to rooftops and took out enemy soldiers left and right with his fists only having to draw his pistol to fire two shots. "C'mon you Nazi bastards, you're not even making it tough..." the Destroyer laughed before another half dozen enemy soldiers began to flank him on the rooftop.
"Son of a..." he muttered before a bright flash of light floored everyone around him, the lenses in his mask shielding his eyes from the intense brightness.
"Mister Marlow, I'm a friend of Steve Rogers. I'm also from the future... the Captain said you'd help me put a team together for a mission..." Franklin said touching down on the rooftop.
"Can't you see there's a war going on here, kid?" the Destroyer asked as he tied the hands of a few of the soldiers.
"The Red Skull has just come into possession of otherworldly power, Mister Marlow. The Captain in my future asked for you specifically. He mentioned you were some sort of journalist when you're not in your mask and that you'd know where to find others who can help us. You are one of the only men he trusted during this God forsaken war!" Franklin pleaded.
"I was on my way to meet a few people actually. You double cross me and I'll..." Destroyer began to threaten.
"My sister's life depends on this mission's success. I just need to get you and your friends back to the future..." Franklin said sternly hovering in place once more.
Somewhere behind enemy lines...***translated from German***
<"There it is again, I feel someone else tapping into this yellow gem's power, altering the time stream in some way..."> the Red Skull proclaimed to Arnim Zola who had fashioned the gem into a belt for the Skull.
<"Perhaps there are other gems just like it, sir? We could follow the trail with one of my energy scanners while we try to unlock the power in your new belt..."> Zola theorized.
<"If there are other gems, you find them Zola. I'll master this power and win the war without Adolf and his silly mustache."> the Red Skull joked.
