Legit watching how long that 1v1 interest check stays on the front page. I'll never quit this site.

The game is afoot...

@KahleenCuthald, @spooner, @QT, @Joshua Tamashii, @22ice22

We're off and running nicely now. Still WIDE OPEN for more players to sign up. We just dropped a GM update for the first week of activity so it's very easy to jump right in.

@PrinceAlexus

GM Update 1

First off, THANK YOU to everyone who has joined up so far. We were genuinely surprised at how this took off. Since we’ve been at this for about a week now, Alexus and I thought it would be a good idea to do a general overview of how we see the game going, where we want it to go, put a few items out for discussion and get your feedback in general. The plan is to do these kind of updates either weekly or bi-weekly depending on the need. So here we go:

1. Membership: In a week, we’ve managed to attract a total of NINE players which is not too bad. We definitely want more. Of the nine, we have seven that have posted in the IC. Some people just joined in at the time of this post so don’t consider this a judgment in any way. I’m a numbers person and I like to have data.

2. Expansion: With membership in mind, we’re looking to attract more all the time. This weekend we’re going to wake back up the two interest threads we had going and let everyone know that we’re up and running. We’ll be reaching out to those that expressed interest and didn’t sign up as well. We would like to enlist your help in this area. If you’ve been on the Guild for a while and have friends that are not in this game, INVITE THEM TO JOIN. Help us reach out and attract as many people as possible even if they’re not necessarily interested in the “Slice of Life” genre. Encourage them to give it a shot. Personally, I had never played a slice of life game until the one that motivated Alexus and me to start this one.

3. Retention: From the beginning, our goal was to create a game where people were motivated to stay and get invested. I hope that everyone that has joined thus far sees that we are VERY involved and are not going to ditch this game. Seriously, if I randomly fall off the scope it’s going to be because I’m dead or in prison. We ask that you think about what you see in this game and where you see your character going in the long haul. This can be tough, we know. Us writers can be a fickle lot. Give us your feedback on this point.

4. Locations: This is a big one. We have got so many locations and it’s great. I tell you we make the best locations, they’re terrific. You’re gonna be so tired of how great they are…;-) You guys have just about killed poor Alexus as he tries to squeeze them all in. As I stated earlier, we VALUE your voluntary submissions to help create our world here. What we would like to do is direct that creativity a little bit to locations common for all cities that we don’t have written up yet. Those would include:
a. Bus/Train Stop: Some sort of transit hub. We have two large airports and the map will show our roadways and rail-lines.
b. Radio/TV Station
c. Arcade
d. High-rise apartment complex: Something where the big $$$’s vacation or live in Sol. Probably where @aladdin_sane's character lives

5. Time Skip: As was mentioned, the next one is going to be to Monday night for live Blues and Jazz hosted by Swan Song’s record shop. This will be a regular event (first Monday of every month), so it should be something all the characters that have been in the city for a while will know about. They’ll also know that it tends to cause traffic jams downtown. There’s also a charity component that we may delve further into when the skip hits. If you are new and don’t get a chance to post before the skip, jump right in asap. This is what we’re getting ready to do, If you guys/gals feel like we’re ready for a time skip (or not) please let us know.

6. Future Planning: The next skip after this one will be “Thirsty Thursdays” in the aptly named Corona Park. Prepare your liver. This will be a regular, recurring event. After that we'll probably have another "open" day followed by a little bit larger event. We would also like to hear your suggestions on events. That doesn't mean we promise to do every suggestion, but we're interested in getting your thoughts/ideas for fun writing.

That's all for now. We're looking forward to your feedback.

@PrinceAlexus

I kind of kept Joel on the outskirts to be more free to run admin stuff this week since it was launch week for us. @Desparadina is still battling with the power company. When we hit the time skip, I'll jump in a little deeper.

Alright, here's my take and I'm a little bit torn on this one. I'm working on a map for us and I tend to look at the locations that we've all put together as dots on the map that we will be able to pinpoint, same as if you were a tourist. All major cities have "slums" per se, but you wouldn't necessarily be able to open up a map and point to a particular spot and say, "Here's where we find the slums, let us go there and do crime." Muggings and killings are not exactly what we wanted to get into with this game and I say that while the "total freedom" side of me rages at the thought of limiting anyone's creativity. I will go for this, but it's going to have to be a good bit more nebulous in the description for sure.

With that in mind, Alexus and I have been discussing perhaps giving a little bit of direction to everyone's creative juices as far as locations. We appreciate that everyone wants to contribute and you can certainly keep them coming, but try to think in terms of places that we don't already have. For example, we already have two major airfields so we probably won't need another airport... Well maybe a single runway GA strip wouldn't hurt... KIDDING!, but you get the point.

Coming up either tomorrow or Friday, we're going to put up some kind post detailing our first week's activity, how many people we have here in the game, strategies for expansion/retention and other items such as the first time skip, and what I mentioned above concerning locations. We're also interested in vague over-arching plots or plans you may have for your characters.

Stay tuned.

I'll be home in about 30-45 mins and I'll take a look.

Before Joel had taken ownership, his garage had once been some sort of welding shop. He remembered walking the empty floor with the commercial real estate broker before they’d closed on the property and the welding dust that had been all over literally everything. What a pain it had been to clean up. Inside, he’d kept the old office area largely intact. The upstairs had been a conference room combined with two other small offices and a few years ago he’d decided to consolidate and make the area a living space. That project was still unfinished, but the shop floor was a pristine wonder. Blueish-gray tile shined in a semi-gloss finish that continued halfway up the wall with a black border that separated the bright white that continued up to the blacked out ceiling. New light fixtures hung along with air and electrical lines for his usage.

Behind the back wall office area was Joel’s main toolbox: a royal blue affair with polished handles and various drawers and doors containing a myriad of tools, all neatly organized. The entire assembly was taller than he was and featured various electrical hookups in a center desk area for convenience. He kept a laptop in the center along with a high stool where he sat briefly researching topics completely unrelated to his present work. A visitor would notice this small section of the shop, not visible from the outside, was slightly more personal than the sterilized main floor. Several pictures hung of him with past friends and events, many featuring the car presently in the back of the shop. Trophies of various dates were tucked away on a small ledge above along with framed certificates and letters. The radio blared and he paid no mind to the visitor that had sauntered in with her injured scooter.

He swiveled on the stool and found the younger female standing there. Freezing in place he shot a slightly dumbfounded double-take toward her, his eyes confirming to his brain that there was indeed another person in the shop and right in front of him. Wait, what day is this? Was his first thought. Damn, I left the door open... was his second thought. “Huh?” Was all that managed to register out of his mouth. He reached back to the laptop while eyeing the damaged scooter and eased down the volume. Shit I like that song too, what hell is this? His eyes scanned the small scooter, a Vespa, which looked to have taken some cosmetic damage then to its apparent driver who looked as if she had taken some fashion damage. Not that bad Joel, you did leave the door open, you dumbass. His mental notes continued.

Since she had apparently pushed it in, he figured it wasn’t running. Simple a machine as it was, he was still a little curious. He’d never touched a Vespa and hers seemed to be a pretty old one, but still in surprisingly good kit. Interesting. He remembered once hearing that some of them could be worth more than a few dollars. As was his custom, the first thing he did after hopping down was pop the seat up and see if there was fuel inside. “So what happened?” He asked, still glancing it over. It briefly occurred to him that the tasteful aroma of Jeep gear oil still hung on his long sleeve t-shirt and shorts.

@Desparadina

I've never worked on a Vespa so consequently neither has Joel, lol. I'll see if I can't come up with a decent reply to you tonight or tomorrow at the latest.
@Lady Selune
