I'm a just gonna do that. There.
Knight
Rosaline Buckner
Protectorate Headquarters

The static energy or Gestalt’s touch felt a bit stinging on her skin, but knowing what it was for Knight let that happen before she placed her helmet back. Then, she formed the sword. If she could shape something like that already, then she was fine. At Gestalt’s statement, of how interesting it should be to have two Knights, Knight smiled.

‘It should be.’ She acknowledged. Having Gestalt borrow her power was honestly a relief. By herself, she worried if her power would be enough to protect them. Now there were two of her, plus Gestalt having a bit more. It was good to have.

Soon enough, she with the others jumped into the VTOL of their choice, looking at the others. She considered if she should be making strategies, but they sort of already knew what to do. Instead, the first word was from Anomaly, who asked how life was. Knight smirked, that was the typical question. She considered what to answer.

Though, Septima and Gestalt began. And they began by presenting their real identities. Knight gave the briefest of a chuckle. To think, had she just been a bit younger, she’d have been a Ward with them. … She might have been more comfortable with that. She certainly felt more at home with these girls, despite them being younger, than currently did with the other heroes who all overshadowed her when it came to experience. Eh, give it time.

‘I’m Rosaline.’ Was she supposed to tell? Probably not. She didn’t want to be the odd one out, though. ‘I think I’m doing fairly well.’ She had skipped going to college to focus full-time on being Knight, realizing that doing both was something her inherent laziness wouldn’t be able to handle. Except for training, her free-time were lazy hours… Mostly because there always was so much to do when she was working.

‘I’ve successfully established my place in the Boston Protectorate, just like my dad had. Next up is protecting the city and getting a good reputation. … Guess that’s what we’re heading to try to achieve, now. For all of us.’ She said, turning to look out, holding on as the craft was likely going to start heading out soon enough. This was all assuming the Covenant or any other madmen wasn’t going to be successful in killing them all…

Oh, and she hadn’t kept it a secret that she was the disappeared Boston hero Retribution’s daughter. He had never been unmasked, as far as she knew, so it was fine.

@Sickle-cell@Banana
Mariette

‘… Hm.’ Mariette gazed over the endless checkerboard pattern and over the stars and galaxies in above her head, and the ruins swirling among them. The beauty was not entirely lost on her, but she wasn’t in a state to appreciate them. And, way off, there was something larger. Yes, the Overcity was a place where Magical Girls could duke it out without fear… but perhaps they were risking something more? Regardless, that was not the intention of tonight’s visit. For now…

‘…’ Oh. No matter what she looked for, it was all in that direction. There was no question, then. She had a direction for what she was looking for. Then all she needed was- ‘…!?’ Mariette blinked a bit and frowned as the fungal cloud took shape, enveloping the giant. There was something that absolutely resembled, but…? … Oh, damn.

Her tentacles emerged, one wrapping around a surprised Eli, and the others etching themselves in the floor where they could find soft enough dirt, as the shockwave reached them.

‘Ih…!’ Eli made a cry of surprise, while Mariette bit together as the force grabbed at their bodies, but she held firm. It wasn’t comfortable, the force could have blown her over hadn’t she braced for it. And… the woman’s laughter in the wind…

One thing was clear. This place was not necessarily safe. With that, Mariette grabbed into Eli and with a swirl, Mariette reversed their Overcity Shift and the two were sent back into the apartment they had left. With that returned the feeling of normality, of the world she had come from, of this boring apartment. But…

‘Wh-what was that!?’ Eli asked, alarmed. Mariette had no reply for her. Seemed like this… could be dangerous indeed. Instead, Mariette made her decision.

‘Eli.’ She commanded.

‘Ah, yes!?’

‘There is a battle going on. Go scout it. Justine may be involved. Find out what you can with your Third Eye. Do not get involved, but unlike previously, it is alright to take protection with other Magical Girls should you somehow be targeted. Investigate those who partake in the battle.’ Mariette told, her voice cold.

‘Ah…’ Eli shivered a bit, but nodded. ‘Yes, mistress.’

‘Good. I’ll send you a bit closer.’ Mariette told, and then a portal opened beneath Eli before she had a chance to respond, and Eli dropped down wordlessly.

Now, then. Mariette breathed out with a sigh. It was time to commit to another little thing she had to do.

Eli

‘…’ Eli hit a rooftop some ways off from the trainstation battle. Far enough away that there shouldn’t be a risk of someone at the site noticing the magic of Mariette’s portal, but still close enough that Eli could get there quickly enough. … Things had started to move so quickly, Eli hadn’t had the proper time to readjust herself, after that happened to Deni… … … … …

She shook her head, knowing her mistress depended on her. Cloaking herself with Darkness magic, as she always did when scouting, Eli started leaping from building to building with her harpy-wings helping her glide, heading towards the battle and intending on finding a rooftop from which to spy…
Hm. So meeting Shatterpoint is a thing of the next day. ... Heh. Then perhaps I'll go try tell the Protectorate first. But, trying to infiltrate the headquarters, even invisible, would probably trigger a bunch of Tinker-made alarms that ensures immediate capture, and I happen to remember headquarters of the Protectorate tend to be rather well protected. So, the option would be to simply find a hero somewhere and tell that one... But how can I be sure that hero isn't part of the family already? Hah. Anyway.

I'm rather up for suggestions from anyone. XD

@ProPro@Eklispe What kind of structure is the Protectorate Headquarters here? *looks at image in first post* Just a skyscraper, or more? What would the public know? Are there other buildings around where one would be able to find heroes or so? Wisp would want to inform someone of what she's learned, after all.

And... when she does return to find Shatterpoint.

@Eklispe I'd like Creep to engage in... what might be a long conversation, depending on what happens. It'd potentially take a long time to write post-per-post. Could we do a collaboration about that? I see we've used PiratePad in the past. I know MeetingWords is something similar. I'd like to hope for something like that. And, since I know what she'll say, maybe we could work on that WHILE she's working on getting a message to the Protectorate, somehow. Heh.
@Eklispe Heh. Alright. Nicely posted. So, you're heading to the Explorer's Guide Service to get information? Or just see what people might have to say on the way? I'll note that he'll get there and find that the place charges for their info, haha. I'm just going to copy-paste the menu here.

Just finding out the common Pokémon in each place is probably a small tip her route. Finding out about the rarer Pokémon or potentially find one would be a considerable tip. Or you can haggle, it's a vague service, after all.

Anyways. Regardless, I don't think you updated your inventory and Pokémon after the fight with Cathia. I just went to check how much money you had due to going to the Explorer's Guide Service, and I think you have more than 22 P, and your Pokémon have gone up a few levels... Haha.
@Pyromaniacwolf Nicely posted. Also, I felt like it, so have a post.

@Pirouette Ooooh? I'm curious. Teh-heh.

@Pyromaniacwolf

The Carvanha blinked a bit in realization as it was placed within the boat, but held tight to the oar, glaring forward. Maybe realizing that perhaps stubbornness wasn’t the best option when it was literally a fish out of water.

Houndour was able to repel the rest of the gang for now, mostly the remnants were targeting him, allowing him to bark and bit them off. Meanwhile, Ducklett got the command to strike.

‘… Leeeeett?’ Ducklett looked back with a look of “do I have to…?” when Lucian gave the suggestion, but regardless jumped forward at the Carvanha which was blinking in realization. The sound of Ducklett’s Wing Attack striking hard at the Carvanha, damaging the low-defense Pokémon considerably.

Though, this caused the Carvanha to let go of the oar and jump at Ducklett.

‘CARVACARVACARVA-!’ The fish’s teeth-shaped mouth opened and closed with fearsome ferocity as it went after Ducklett.

‘DUUUUUCK…!’ The duck cried out in frank terror and braced for immediate painful chomping.

However, before getting to bite at Ducklett, the piranha Pokémon was struck in mid-air by Lucian’s Pokéball, which then came down bouncing onto the floor of the boat, Ducklett sitting with closed eyes shivering with a wing protecting his face for the bite than never came.

‘… Lett?’ It eventually asked, peeking out.

It rolled once…

Yeah, th-that’ll probably do. … This post, was 19 pages long in my documents. Yikes. Anyways. If anyone has questions, corrections, complaints or compliments for me, then please, share them. I’m mostly ears. Now, then.

@Joshua Tamashii So, what I’m currently thinking is, you do all those battles at the same time. Simply tell what Pokémon you’ll use for each battle, what your strategy for taking out each Pokémon is, and then I’ll tell you how well it works out. If you decide to do anything weird, tell me, and I’ll adapt to that too. In any case, do those six battles all at once, and then we can say she grinded her way to all her Pokémon being level 10 against trainers, with the assumption that all her Pokémon participate in the battling. Yeah. Haha.

@Rune_Alchemist I’m going to have Anise call after whatever you do next, which I’ve mentally prepared myself somewhat for that it may be contest related. … Oh, gosh. Time to consider strange things, I suppose. Hahahaha.

@Pyromaniacwolf … You DID bring the Ducklett, right? You didn’t leave him behind somewhere? Any case, assuming you did, this happens. Now, then. What’d you do now?

@Pikmin Eye … Okay, that was kind of fun. If Martin wants to spend time or do whatever he might feel like here, SURE, GO FOR IT! … Or run with your tail between your legs, that works too. This is not a street for children. XD

@Pirouette I intentionally did not consider what you had on you when I created the Trail Master’s trial, because he wouldn’t know. But, maybe, I should have thought out a potential way for you to clear it? … EH! Here you go! The Trail Master’s trail! Have fun! XD

@Eklispe A thought struck me while I wrote that. “Maybe he’d be extremely uncomfortable with this development and the consequences it might have”. If so, tell me, and I can pull some strings so you don’t have to worry about it and can focus on your own Pokémon journey.
@Joshua Tamashii

Lorette bid her farewell and wandered back to her Gym, and some on the way saw her and greeted her happily. Lorette gave them small waves, as Ledian followed her. From how the people greeted her, seemed like she had a pretty positive reputation. A couple of trainers seemed to take note that she had returned, and started heading for her Gym as well.

In the maket of Highhill Town she bought herself 9 more Pokéballs, coming out at 1800 P. Add an umbrella for 50 P there, and that’s a total of 1850 P for all she was buying in town. Now, moving on.

So, Amelia headed for the Pokémon Center to get her Pokémon cared for.

Then, Amelia went to the map in the Pokémon Center, which did have the routes marked. Route 16 is the ocean route between Raremine Town and Witchpeak City.

That aside. Amelia wandered back to Route 3, now with a new umbrella, and a new intention in mind. She was to seek out the trainers of the route, and battle them for experience.

This had a slight risk, however. With wild Pokémon, one could be pretty sure that you could defeat the Pokémon, and even if you couldn’t, you could always just run away. That did not apply to trainer battles. If the opponent turned out to be stronger than expected, then you’re out of luck. The risk of defeat hung high.

However, Amelia had an innate advantage. Her preference for the Ghost-type meant many of the trainers she’d fight didn’t yet have the means to handle her Pokémon, as most trainers on the route would be new trainers recently embarked from Pureplain City. Mostly. Now then.

Amelia first approached what appeared to be a female trainer heading north to south with a determined expression. Or maybe she didn’t, but either way, she might be startled as the girl pointed her out, first!

‘I travelled through Wet Caverns, through Route 5 and 4 and back around Dragon Lake to here collecting Pokémon but avoiding trainers because I was afraid of losing! But now, I’m ready! You, little girl! Be proud, you’ll be the first trainer ever to be defeated by the future Pokémon Champion!’

Lass Audrey wants to battle!

Next one would be a little boy. He recently came out of Highhill Town on his own, under a little umbrella, and looked a bit uncomfortable in the rain, yet determined to press through. As a Pokémon trainer, he could be targetted for battle.

‘E-eh? Y-you want to battle? … … She’s a bit creepy, but… O-okay! Let’s do it!’

Youngster Kale wants to battle!

Then there was a lady that is… dancing? She’s dancing in the rain, humming, carrying around a parasol. She appeared to be a trainer? So…

‘Oooh, look at that cute little umbrella! Dance with me, we’ll be a perfect parasol pair~! … Oh, right, you want to battle. Sure~!’

Parasol Lady Penny wants to battle!

In this particular case, Amelia would be stopped before having time to back to the Pokémon Center, because…

‘Heeeeeeeeey! You!’ Amelia suddenly heard a the voice of a young girl similar in age to herself approaching. Except, dressing way flashier. It was a…

‘I sense it on you… You’ve been to the fairy paradise! That makes me so mad! You have to tell me where it is! … After I’ve beaten you into the ground, because I’m feeling jealous!’

Fairy Tale Girl Celica wants to battle!

Then, there was a young Bug Catcher training against the wild Pokémon. While he looked busy with that, he was more than eager to get into a Pokémon battle!

‘I’m training to challenge Lorette, the Bug-type Gym Leader, with my own bug Pokémon! I must do my best to impress my senior bug-type lover…!’

Bug Catcher Greg wants to battle!

Finally, there was a lady walking about with a Shroomish on her side, seemingly enjoying having the supposedly toxic spores it releases circling her. Er. Well, Amelia still could challenge her?

‘Ooooh? You want to fight? Tihi… Alright, but I’m warning you. I’m pretty strong~!’

Aroma Lady Everitte wants to battle!

‘Wa-!’ Anise was somewhat startled by suddenly being swept into a hug, and may have blushed a bit in embarrassment at the kiss on her cheek. ‘Ah- y-yeah, you did!’ She did manage to make a smile, trying to both pat Claire on the shoulder and gently push her off with the other hand.

There were smiles all around as the inhabitants of the Gym congratulated her on her victory while she was cheering with her Pokémon and seeing Del evolve, meanwhile…

‘Oh, geesh, boss. Can we try not destroying the Gym in every battle? Or, like, getting a better Gym?’ A Battle Girl asked overlooking the damages.

‘Ya know we can’t afford a better Gym, we’re always paying to repair this one!’ A Black Belt commented, grinning.

‘Yeah, I know, but maybe we, like… shouldn’t?’ She retorted.

‘Isn’t the destruction part of the charm by now?’ The Black Belt chuckled and went about his business.

‘Yeah, sure, but one day that “charm” is going to come tumbling down on our heads…’ … Yeah, that aside.

‘HAHAHAHA…!’ Hector was still laughing, and was joined by the Machamp and Pangoro on each side of him. Clearly, those two were ACTUALLY his, and they looked pleased with the battle as it was. ‘Sure, Claire! You’re welcome in my Gym at any time!’ He looked happy enough.

Anise, in the meantime, went to get her Froakie and Meditite, telling them that they did a good job. They got experience for that battle, too, so she gained something as well. Returning those to their Pokéballs, it was about here where Claire called her name again, and Anise turned to look.

‘Alright. I’ll call you a bit later, then.’ Anise affirmed, still a little embarrassed, but acknowledging Claire’s words. She may or may not have gotten a couple of stares from others in the Gym. Anyways. Then Claire was off.

She found the Pokémon Center distinctly Yvonne-less. But she could heal her Pokémon.

Now, then. Redcoast City lies open for her once again. Where to now?

Yvonne’s probably somewhere contest-related. … Oh, and there appears to be a group of white-clad individuals moving back to their base right now. Huh.

Connected areas:
Route 11. A semi-populated road east under heavy rainfall, where it quickly reaches a steep climb towards Rainrock. Abandoned buildings on the south side facing Silent Forest.
Route 15. A simple walk down to the beach, where the sea leads on towards the Sacred Grounds.

The particular Carvanha on the oar would not give up, even when he started batting it at the water, glaring at him while biting down harder. As for hitting other piranha, they were very hard to hit while underwater. Lucky the flock of Carvanha started investing in jumping out of the water to attack the residents of the boat, then! … Or wait.

Houndour came out and gave a first Growl, lowering the attack of the whole pack, but upon him doing that, the piranha Pokémon seemingly identified him as a threat and started jumping out of the water to jump at him to attack. Now, he doesn’t actually know any physical attacks, but as this is hardly a regular Pokémon battle the logic of biting them off holds. But, there were quite a few of them-

‘D-duuuuck…!’ With the assumption that Lucian hadn’t just left him behind, Ducklett soared forth and delivered a Wing Attack at the incoming piranha, standing at the edge of the boat and waving wings back and forth. Turns out, most the Carvanha were pretty low level, so he could handle it…

‘Lett? … DUUUUUCK…!’ … And this is about the time the ability Rough Skin made itself known, as Ducklett flinched back from the damage done to his wings, and Houndour would also suffer a little damage from those he bit back.

Though, the Carvanha were starting to realize they probably weren’t getting any food from this and were likely going to be beat up. However, notably the one on Lucian’s oar was, like, “ya think I’ll be lettin’ ya go just with this? ya wish!” and stubbornly held on. Huh.

So, the streets of Lakewatch Town are pretty active, there’s somewhat of a tourist center where there’s a bunch of shops and such. Apparently, the town being on-water somewhat sells it, and they need some way of bringing people here because there’s little reason for others to do so, and the main way in would be by boat from Highhill Town if you’re not a Pokémon Trainer. Anyways, moving on, Martin wandered… and wandered… and ended up…

Wait. Hold on. Where did he wander now? Suddenly he may have realized the surroundings wasn’t nearly as bustling with activity, the buildings were way closer throwing huge shadows over the alleys he now ventured inside, and everything lost… a lot of colour. And that’s not just the literal colour, the atmosphere felt like it had lost colour.

Joshua and Ewan were also kind of stunned by this.

‘Woah. That’s a character.’ Joshua smirked, apparently amused.

‘… How did he use an Escape Rope here? It’s a house, Escape Rope should bring you to the exit of a cavern, but he used it to be pulled deeper in? I… hm.’ Ewan considered.

Then Erika announced her intentions to accept the trial.

‘Yeah! Like we’d let an adventure like this pass us by! Let’s see it!’ Joshua smirked with excitement. ‘And if it comes to it, we’ll protect our fair maiden from whatever dangers this trial might pose to her! Right, Ewan!?’

‘… Right.’ Now, he probably WOULD protect her if she was in danger, but Ewan’s reply was kind of not taking Joshua seriously. ‘In any case, it should be interesting to see what this trial contains. Everything’s an experience.’

‘There we have it! Onwards!’ Joshua approved of Ewan’s reply, and onwards.

So, Erika entered the cavern before her…

‘This cave was sculpted out by Pokémon.’ Ewan analyzes, running a hand along the smooth wall. Indeed, it was too perfect to be a natural cavern. That, or someone had smoothed it out. Regardless. The sounds of wind came closer and closer, until they arrived into a larger room.

‘Pidgeooootto…!’ And the absolutely first thing that happens is a bird playfully blowing wind in their faces likely making them have to cover themselves.

Pokédex Entry #17 – Pidgeotto, the Bird Pokémon. It picks a large area to be its territory in which it makes its nest, patrols circling in the sky for prey and pecks intruders. It has amazing vision, known to spot the movement of prey even at its maximum altitude, and is also known to be able to fly 100 km without pause, prey in its talons.

The room is a cavern-room, with platforms of rock sticking out of a lake of water a couple meters down. Not lethally far down, but it may still hurt to fall. Also, you’re in a part of the Mt. Chill range, that water can’t be very hot. There are ladders out of the water on the far left and right. Now, those platforms don’t look terribly hard to traverse… But there are Pidgeottos sitting across the room on spires sticking out of the water, occasionally blowing Whirlwinds onto the platforms, turning their heads a bit and looking pleased with themselves.

The Pidgeotto right in front of them, after having blown some wind in their faces, then relaxes its wings and sits smugly, on top of a sign.

“Welcome to the Flying Trial! The birds in here are only allowed to use Whirlwind, use your Pokémon and brave their wild gusts! Oh, and the Pidgeot will make his rounds every two minutes. Gotta go fast!”

On cue.

‘PIDGEOOOOT…!’ Suddenly a powerful force flew through the room, perfectly following the path a hopeful trail-goer would have to go, almost too quickly to follow with the eyes as it soared through, shooting a powerful air around it as it flew that most certainly would throw the unsupported off the platforms. It then settled in the far end of the room, also looking towards the newcomers with a seemingly pleased look.

Pokédex Entry #18 – Pidgeot, the Bird Pokémon. This Pokémon is known to fly at 1000 meters height to spot Magikarp over water before soaring down to catch. It is capable of flying at Mach 2. If threatened, it spreads its wings to appear intimidating, and if that doesn’t work it can unleash gusts capable of bending trees.

The three Pidgeottos in the back were not Whirlwinding, they were simply sitting on their spires and looking pleased. They were likely simply waiting for them to get closer.

On the left was a platform with a Pidgeotto sitting on it. On it was… a scroll? It’s purpose was unclear.

In the far end of the room was the door, the exit. And if that was even the slightest unclear, there was a flashing purple neon sign over it saying “EXIT, TRAIL MASTER THROUGH HERE”. Huh.

Okay. … Would Erika attempt the trial? And if so, how?

@Eklispe

Soooo. Talking to people. Be it inside or outside the Pokémon Center, the inhabitants of Lakewatch Town are a lively and talkative bunch, not much effort was needed to get their tongues wagging.

‘Lakewatch’s, like, WAAAY out of the way! To get here you need to go through either Wet Caverns, Vast Plains or Stillwood Village! And, like, NOBODY but Pokémon Trainers has reason to do that! … As a result, most people in Lakewatch become Pokémon Trainers ourselves and explore the world, gaining a wealth of knowledge in turn! Wanna make use of it, just head over to the Explorer’s Guide Service!’ … Oh, this guy was actually living advertisement standing in the Pokémon Center.
‘Lakewatch Town’s home to the Lakewatchers, our team of dragon protectors that patrol the Dragon Lake and hunt off those wishing to hunt them! They’re led by our very own Gym Leader, Lesley! Team Amethyst will claim no more dragons while the hunter of dragon hunters is in charge!’
‘… So, Lesley, “Dragon Watcher” of Lakewatch, is a Dragon-type specialist and a Major League Gym Leader. Wouldn’t recommend you to try challenging her unless you’ve already beaten the Minor League. Hey, both Stillwood Village and Raremine Town have Minor Gyms. Why don’t you start there?’
‘Hey, you know how there’s super-old mystical-seeming rocks in Highhill Town everyone’s interested in? Well, Lakewatch Town’s got some too! They’re just underwater, under the Descent Tower. We’re not sure what to make of them. They’re not exactly easy to research down there either. Wonder what they are?’
‘To get to Raremine Town from here you need to cross Route 6, also known as the Vast Plains. Now, the wildlife there is, how should I say? Very wild. You may want to consider hiring an expert from the Explorer’s Guide Service to show you how to get through without being charged by a horde of Tauros. There’s a reason why people generally travel to Worldedge City and then just go south to get to Raremine Town.’
‘You know, the main entrance to Cooldome City’s the eastern Tunnel, but you can go through the Frozen Cavern, too! In fact, Frozen Cavern can be a lot more fun, there’s a bunch of ancient things frozen into the ice in that cave if you start digging! Stones and fossils and the like! … Just make sure you don’t end up frozen by a Glalie! Haha!’
‘Endless Forest… No matter how you try to enter it, from the sky, main entrance, north, south, west, east, from below… You’ll always end up on the same road. It’s impossible not to get lost. That place messes with your mind, and is a great mystery. But, supposedly, someone in Stillwood Village could find the way…’
‘… … … … … … … … … …’

Something’s suddenly pressed onto his chest. The stranger who did it wore a green hood and swiftly slid into out, then ran for a back alley, and out of view. The item pressed into Dawkin’s chest was… an envelope. If Dawkin opened it…

Dawkin is currently in Lakewatch Town.

Connected areas:
Wet Caverns. Water-filled caverns that are located to the east. There’s a small hill to climb to get to the entrance.
Route 5. The main exit of Lakewatch, leading to a grassy incline connecting mountains, forests and plains.
Route 14. The waters of Dragon Lake are also known as Route 14. It connects Lakewatch Town, Highhill Town and Stillwood Village.

There we go. That should set the hero-team on the move.
