Creep
Sheila Hopkins

Villain’s Meeting
Visible

So, watching everything around her using her power, Sheila had been able to stay calm around most things. Even when Whipstitch had thrown that chair into the wall, she had managed to keep herself stiff and not reacting. However, over there, this one lady cracked a glass and then cut her own hand. THAT made Sheila flinch, her hands closing from involuntarily imagining the pain. Why would she do that…!? … Something with her power, Sheila figured, but then her power did something to someone else when she cut herself? What kind of terrible power was that!? … Well, fortunately, it didn’t work in here. Phew, honestly. Sheila made herself calm down.

The man who had tried to take over the Rockers backed down from his earlier boldness and politely requested one vial. … Sheila silently prayed said new recruit he’d be getting would be the traitorous sort and they’d split, because she didn’t want him to get more lackeys. Humming guy spoke, but it was just a joke. Nobody here was going to drink and show off their new powers. It was nice of Benito to show off the vague outlines of his. Banishing and returning objects? Didn’t sound too bad… unless he could do it to miniguns or enemies, that is.

Broker spoke. That girl that cut herself was “Healer”? Healer of Lethal Force. … With that much black, she didn’t look the part. Why would a healer cut herself? Powers are mysterious things, Sheila concluded for not close to the first time. Then, Broker spoke to Creep.

Creep kept quiet and tried to keep her posture straight. She wasn’t exactly flattered by the praise, he felt too much like a sleazy businessman trying to get on the good side of a customer. Still, he provided the answers. Patriarch knew already. The vials had been stolen from the Community. Issued a recall, so the powers came from Broker but made a round-trip by the Community. Those were some odd circumstances, but alright.

Nicely enough of him, Broker listed all the parties that were present in the room. The Jacks, the Rockers, Reflections, Lethal Force, Purge’s Mafia, Sabotage and Retcon. … What kind of group names themselves after a violation of the unspoken rules? Someone intending to get into serious trouble, Sheila supposed. In any case, satisfied that she had a relatively good idea of where everyone around her belonged now, Sheila felt considerably safer. That was probably a bad thing. Still. It was something. She had a decent view of the villain scene of Denver from here. Broker listed some rules about drinking vials, and they were all good to know.

‘… Understood,’ Creep simply stated. Came with risks, of course. Drink the whole thing. … So, if she poured out half a vial and then left it lying around for the Community to find, could she screw them up from the inside? Worth considering.

She did not miss the fact that, with the Jacks unable to buy one, for the rest to be bought all remaining ones had to be bought by the available parties. If one opted not to, couldn’t afford or so, what would the Broker do? Just keep it? … Hm. Also, the mafia already got one, seemingly for free. She could argue they already had gotten one, but speaking out against this fact would require speaking out against Purge, and she wasn’t entirely at a level of self-confidence where she could do that, even if she felt a bit braver now. Huah. Okay. She could do this.

… Naturally, as a Stranger Sheila considered if she could steal a vial from the others if they bought one. Purge was out, and she wasn’t sure stealing from a group named “Lethal Force” was a particularly good idea. Sabotage was a thief and probably good at covering her tracks, and Retcon… was a complete question mark. Reflections? She couldn’t imagine that guy had amassed a particularly large team yet, it could be safe. But also dangerous. Using knowledge from a meeting like this… it broke the rules, didn’t it? … Sheila kept quiet and safe, though she kept thinking…
@Eisenhorn@Rune_Alchemist Yeah, nicely posted, both of you. I'm very happy you've taken the time to post at the time you did. Now, I've been distracted by some things for the past week, and I'm afraid all of the next 4 weeks promises to be a pain as well, buuuuuuuuut...

@Apollosarcher@Pirouette@Eklispe Hello, this is your message asking how things are going! Posts would be very much appreciated, that or messages about who you're waiting for or why you're being delayed! How is life?

@Eklispe And nice quotes. Yupp, they feel they most certainly fit Titania's character. I would note that the "capped stats" doesn't entirely convey to the player that the stats are, in fact, capped, but that's small details. Nicely done.
@ProPro I vote for MB for the interlude. Sorry about the delay on that.
@Pirouette Yupp. Nicely posted. Thank you for replying quickly. Now, then.
@Rune_Alchemist That discord idea has been started. I would like comments if it's working well. Anyways! More discussion on that can happen on the discord, too! Just wanted to announce that here! Hahaha!
@Dusksong You're holding up Erika's Poliwag- Nah. XD

You're not holding up anyone. You are causing me some distress wondering if you just vanished after your first post or so, but ultimately you're not delaying anyone but yourself and as such it is fine. Alright, then.
@Rune_Alchemist Heh, understandable. You can still wait if you want, I'm just asking to ensure everyone's not waiting for each other.
Aw. I see quotes. I am so happy.

@Lmpkio Yupp! Those are some nice quotes that I could see appearing in the game. I like them. I think you may have messed up the order of “go” and “to” in the first one, though. That one is pretty amusing. Teh-heh.

@Apollosarcher Niiiiiiiiiice. Yeah, these are really nice. The one mentioning Rafaela amuses me. The first critical hit quote stands out as awesome and fitting to me. The occasional there feels a bit long, and the capped stats ones I don’t entirely feel like they’re conveying to the player that the stats are, indeed, capped, but anyways! Really cool. Nice.

@Rune_Alchemist I kinda imagine that after crying “they’re not food” to instead for usual attack-animation have Kergin just fly up and chomp on the enemy for critical damage while Isolde does a cry of surprise at sudden speed or something. Haha. Anyways. Yeah, these are nice. I do end up imagining getting the tree statement while indoors, heh. But anyways. Nice. I’m happy~!

@Eisenhorn These… these are just so very well composed. They’re oozing with his character, heh. I could place these into a game straight-off and they’d fit in excellently. Nicely done. The critical hit quotes of varying level of remaining patience amuses me. Yeah. Very nice.

Yupp. I am a happy GM right now. Hm, should I make some quotes too? Problem is, if I start, there’s going to be a requirement that I do it for a whole bunch of more NPCs too, and a different kind of effort than writing a story, I’m intimidated, hah. Anyways! I promised an item, one for each of those who finished their quotes. I’m going to hold true to that, if any of you ever think of something you’d like to obtain in the near future. But, like, before that, we need to get to the near future.

So, I know Eklispe is waiting for more posts before posting. How about the rest of you? How’s posting going? Waiting for anyone? Anything like that?
Okay. I'm back from a slight absence. And... hm.

@Joshua Tamashii Nicely posted. I posted a slight little thing to acknowledge the things you've done. @Eklispe Nicely posted, you too. All your exchanges are nice posts, hah. Anyways. You two can continue with this as long as you like. I'll just be here when you'd like to head out again.

@Pirouette Rune's been waiting for a week. I don't really feel the post needed for this to continue should take this long. How's it going?

@Pikmin Eye You haven't posted in a while. If this guy disinterests you, we can skip him and move on. Or is it something else? How's it going?

@Dusksong ... Well. How's it going?
@Joshua Tamashii

The girl frowned at Joshua's words, her Seviper adding an additional glare beside that frown, then both of them headed off after the rest of the group before the rest was said.

Amelia went and dropped off Shedinja where she found it, no sort of movement having been seen from the Shed Pokémon. Amelia turned and headed back out the Bug Garden, having not witnessed the Shedinja move even once... though perhaps, somehow, she was aware of the ghost Pokémon's attention being on her back as she left. It didn't follow her out when she went to rejoin Joshua and Dawkin, though.

There were quite a few choices for places to eat during late times in Raremine Town, plenty of the miners of Raremine were the kind to party, living fully only late. Just not on this street, apparently. That did mean that quite a few such places in this town would appear fairly loud, though. Still, there surely was somewhere with appreciable atmosphere if that was desired.
Mariette
and Eli

When Eli arrived in the room with all the girls, disabled from their interactions with Caroline, she stopped to inspect them for potential danger. They appeared neutralized, yet she felt required to run back to report this finding to her mistress. Upon being told, Mariette simply nodded and wandered on, intending to inspect the supposedly inactive girls… only to find that they rose like zombies facing towards her, recognizing her and desiring her destruction.

‘Ah,’ Eli made a noise of realization from beside Mariette, looking upon the girls from a distance from the candles of the cells, out of major damage potential. Mariette, still holding the mirror, frowned looking upon the rows of girls that they themselves had kidnapped. Well, this was partly terrible.

First instinct was she would start recollecting them in their weakened state, taking back what she kidnapped for herself, but unfortunately she was completely out of power. Second instinct was to send Eli to dispatch them all, however depending on their remaining power that could pose an unacceptable risk to Eli’s continued safety. Third instinct was to use the mirror and flee out of here, but that’d mean that upon potential victory Alicia and Beacon would liberate a large group of Magical Girls that no doubt would be hell bent on Mariette’s destruction, which was less than desirable.

Mariette closed her eyes, carefully considering her options, standing before the girls slowly homing in on her…

‘M-mistress…!?’ Eli asked, quickly deforming her arms into a rifle aimed at the crowd, warning them to stay their distance, but not firing since Mariette seemed to be considering something. Then… suddenly, Eli had Asengav’s Mirror thrust upon her, Mariette having passed it over to the considerably confused slime harpy, the Reflective Witch holding a resolved expression.

‘… Mistress?’ Eli asked, surprised.

‘Stand back, Eli. Leave this to me, and watch my back,’ Mariette, said, raising her chin and looking over the crowd like a spiteful goddess watching her nonbelievers. She wandered forth to meet them, her graceful steps like she was accepting her fate to them, Eli’s eyes widening as confusion took her over.

Mariette finally stopped before the crowd.

Then she raised her right arm high.

‘Wait! Hold off your attack! I ask you now, please hear me out!’ Mariette announced, her other hand placed upon her chest, her voice having risen a couple of notes in brightness to sound more innocent. ‘I am not the primary cause of your misery! As we have learned, Justine von Visceral is a user of mind-manipulation tricks and brainwashing, and she uses this to recruit followers to fight for her, no matter their true hearts! I, too, I regret to say, was used, manipulated for her evil deeds. I am not blameless…’ Mariette put both hands before her heart and lowered her chin in a slight bow, her tone and posture as if she was really regretting it. Then, she raised her head again and stepped forward to call out to the girls.

‘But SHE is the one who gave you to her little sister! SHE was the one who had me collect you for your blood and to complete her wicked plans! She now plans to purge your world of all you hold dear and to claim it for her own!’ Here, Mariette made a dramatic gesture upon her own damages from explosions and being thrown around and the dreadful state of her dress.

‘LOOK UPON ME! I have been damaged in extensive combat with Justine and her lackies, fighting to stop her from continuing her vile deeds! I ask you now! Turn aside your desire for vengeance and see your true enemy!’ Mariette here pointed forth, towards where she had heard the sound of the train.

‘My allies, composed of Magical, Beacon and Monster Girls alike, should be fighting her beyond these corridors, seeking to end Justine’s tyranny! They seek to save Janet Howell, to save Lily Hanson, and to save you all! I have exhausted myself fighting Caroline, the little sister whom has been defeated, but Justine remains! If you have any to give, I ask of you! Lend us your might! Let us defeat Justine von Visceral, and vanquish this threat to our world! Let’s go!’

And then, should there be any reaction from the crowd that implied that they had actual emotions and might actually have been swayed by her speech, Mariette is going to break into a mock run in the direction of the corridor leading towards their destination, hoping that the rest would perhaps hesitate due to doubt of her intention or potentially join her and hopefully overtake her because they have way better stamina than Mariette could ever hope for.

Obviously, this was all an act, because Mariette doesn’t feel the slightest remorse for them all and wasn’t in the slightest brainwashed when she did all that, but those are details better left for later.

‘…’ Eli stood with mouth kind of hanging open, staring at Mariette as she held that speech to them. Huh. Didn’t know mistress could act. Eli also noted how she technically never lied during that speech, in case of any light-users. “Purge the world and claim it for her own” was a guess, though. Still, just in case they don’t buy it… Eli made ready to leave the mirror, jump forth and grab Mariette to attempt carrying her off to safety just in case the crowd of Magical Girls in fact didn’t care the slightest about anything else than vengeance upon the Reflective Witch. Just in case.
