I don't get the fuss about climate change. There was an ice age once. that's climate change. Going from sunny to rainy is climate change.

Are patterns altering slightly as a direct result of human activity? Yes.

Are humans single-handedly killing the planet? No. If anything, our actions will make the Earth uninhabitable for humans and will kill ourselves, but the planet will be fine. But I don't think we're in any danger of doing that either.

Sage

Well Sage was certainly a surprise to Galen. The lovely woman and her suggestion certainly cast a glimmer in his eyes, and he looked her top to bottom appraisingly. It wasn't in any lewd fashion, but Sage could tell he was intrigued by her. "Well I make it a prerogative not to fraternize in the recruitment process," he chuckled. "but once you're apart of the crew I might take you up on that." He told her with a wink, though his pose showed he had not forgotten business. "If you're useful in the way you say you are... we can certainly use a woman of your talents on the crew."

Vaia

Galen raised his brow at the forthright manner in which this dark woman spoke, though to his credit he didn't flinch when she plopped her gory trophies upon the table. The Dwarf looked slightly annoyed, seeing as some of it spilled upon the map he was looking at. The stout one crinkled his bulbous nose and looked up. "Oi, watch where ye drop yer shit." Galen held a hand up, waving dismissively. "Calm down Sketti, this is actually quite impressive..." Galen mused for a moment, while Jax curiously looked at the woman. The Foreigner was the only one that seemed to not take notice. Galen nodded not a moment later. "You're hired. We can always use another sailor, and a good sword arm."

Vaeri

Another woman, Galen noticed. He looked past the Elf to see just how many waited. Jax gave a very large grin when Vaeri stepped forward, and Galen nodded approvingly before she even spoke. He trusted an Elf to know their business, though sometimes they could be flighty. He still deigned to hear what she had to say. Her accent being a tad gruffer, and her muscled, clannish form gave him all the recommendation he needed. The Foreigner glanced her way, and the Elf returned her smile threefold. Galen raised an eyebrow. "You say that like mercenary is a bad thing. It's exactly what we need." He told her, accepting her into the crew.

Zahir

Galen and the others looked to one another. Even the Shi'ranese to the side gave Zahir an incredulous glance.

"I like him." Sketti the Dwarf said. Galen nodded as if he had a good point. "Yes, seems uh, fit and sturdy. Long as he knows how to sail, I'm happy with it. Crushing skulls is a good extra."

"Och, a very useful thing to be able to do on the sea." The Dwarf engineer agreed.

Ava/Ed

Ava's display of her acrobatic skills had intrigued and impressed Galen and Jax, though the Elf looked her up and down and squinted at her, eyes combing up the oddly shapely legs he had. Galen didn't seem to notice though, his dark eyed gaze and charming smile lost on what he seemed to believe was a man. After a moment, Jax's appraising just led him to shrug.

"What?" Sketti asked Jax, confused at the Elf's look. He shook his head. "I dunno, something odd about that lad, don't ye think so?"

"All manlings look the same to me." Sketti said, before shoving his nose back into his map.

Galen gave a small clap and a grin. He thought it was quite amusing the one claiming to be Ed was already trying to get comfortable with one of the women crew members. "Alright sailor," he laughed, his voice smooth and naturally deep. "You can handle yourself around a rope, a mast, and the bucking of a ship, you'll do well. Welcome aboard."

Loren

Unlike the others, Galen didn't smile at Loren. Instead he gauged the newcomer with an obvious scrutiny, though he would expect Loren to understand it was simply him looking after the interests of himself and the crew. The Quartermaster stroked his chin, taking in Loren for how he appeared to be, and then giving a knowing nod after a moment. "Allow me to speak to you tomorrow." He suggested to Loren. "Once we do that, if I'm satisfied, you're hired my friend."

2 days later...

The relative quiet of the port was welcome as far as Galen was concerned. The Faire of Storms had died down, and the docks were now close to empty thanks to the ships having set sail not a day before with refugees and visitors looking to return themselves and their belongings home. He brushed the dark fringe of his hair out of his eyes and cleared his throat, making his way down the docks. He would otherwise look princely if his thick hair wasn't unkempt, and there was little ruddiness or scars to mar his face. Unfortunately, his life had not been without hardship and he bore the marks to prove it, though that was for he to hide. Still, he seemed fairly cordial and easy-going as he walked onto the SeaReaver.

His booted feet clacked along the timber planks, and he bit into his apple lazily as he enjoyed the new warmth of the sun now spilling over the waters of the sea. Galen breathed in the sea air deeply as he headed up the plank and onto the deck of the ship. One hand resting on his sword hilt, and the other holding the apple he still held. The men and women, mostly women it seemed, before him looked to be from vastly different parts of the world.

"Well this is quite the crew," he said to them with a closed-mouth grin once they quieted down. He bit into his apple once more and set himself before them, chest out. He had a fit frame, clad in dark leather and cloth over chain mail. He gave a yawn to stifle away the last bits of sleepiness that was still to be shaken from him, and he cleared his throat. "Good to see you all here. If you recall, I'm Galen, your Quartermaster." He told them. His voice was smooth and low in pitch.

"It would be good for us to meet again before we set sail. I am not entirely certain if all of you have served on a pirate ship before. But if you haven't, you'll need to know that while we're sailing... I'm likely the only friend you have at the beginning of this venture." He reminded them. "So cordial first impressions are probably for the best." He casually winked at them, as if he were letting them in on a secret he'd only tell people he trusted.

With that, he bit into the last of his apple, finishing it up. Tossing the core behind him into the sea, he ascended the stairway leading to the sterncastle. Once atop the high ground, he placed his bejeweled fingers along the railings, addressing the crew. "We're going to keep introductions short. But to break the proverbial ice, I'll present you with the companions with which I've so far traveled..." With a wave of his hands, he introduced Sketti, Jax, and Eladar, as well as their roles (Shipwright/Engineer, Lookout, Veteran Sailor/Weapon expert.

"That being said, we've found ourselves a Captain. I'll let him speak once we set sail, but as of right now we're in search of a certain Caravel, known as the King Edmund, that's hauling a thousand royals and three thousand Lordlings." Everyone listening would know that was a sizeable treasure. "As your Quartermaster, if you have a concern for the crew, or for the Captain, you come to me. I'll in return relay that to whatever party needs to hear it. Also, let it be known we need a First Mage. We'll likely try to procure one at the next port, but for now we have a myriad of sailors, as well as our new healer, Sage." He gave a gesture towards her, and a nod. "And Vaia shall be the cook. Now, before we set sail and I give the reins of SeaReaver to the new Captain, do we have any questions or opinions?"
