I started RP before double digit age but you couldn't have gotten an admission I was under 18 under threat of death. Kids just casually admiting it online now is wild.

Jaromir Zhu

Fucking hell. A Black Eagle? Jaromir resisted the urge to let out a disgusted sigh as he boarded the DropShip. The last outfit he was with wasn't exactly flush with cash, but it hadn't been this bad. Unfortunately, Rasalhague had the only outfit willing to provide a BattleMech on signup at the moment, so he hadn't exactly been flush with options. Best to just bite the bullet and get all this done with. He found the briefing room, took a seat in the middle of the pack, and patiently waited for their marching orders.

The briefing didn't do anything to help Jaromir's misgivings, but it could still have been worse. He didn't like that the CO was a Feddie, mostly for his own safety, but the commander didn't seem to discriminate too much. Yet. Though he was curious as to what the man meant by "real" battle, looking at him and the more middle-aged pilot as he did so. Something to ask in private later, if they had the chance. The briefing didn't sound bad, but Jaromir had heard better odds before, only to get bogged down in an absolute shitstorm. Like the mission that had fucked over his old company in the first place and had him running all the way back here.

It was then that a few of his new squadmates began to speak up. So far? He wasn't that impressed with what he saw. The noble-looking Combine girl spoke sense, only for some prick to start going on about proclivities and...ex-mistress? Alright, so the two had history together. Kept boytoy? Nah. Too much resentment in him for that. Jaromir found himself nodding along with the next man to speak, piping in himself after the fact.

"I'm with him." He jerked his thumb in Karel's direction. "Pirates don't get protections, and no one would give a shit about a bunch of two-bit raiders. Wipe them out and salvage what we can, I say. Locusts and Cicadas ain't worth much, but anything's better than nothing. Anyways, Commander, what've we got for combined arms support? Tanks? Aircraft? Nothing?" Any backup was superior to no backup, and having a few easy targets on the field would serve as good meatshields for the actual heavy-hitters. Though he doubted they'd be so lucky. At this rate, the entire mech complement available to them would be nothing but half-junked Urbies.
Renar Hagen

Well, now. The Golden Boars? This had just become far more interesting. The clarification on what exactly had happened here certainly didn't go amiss, of course. A cursed item, plus some other mystery? Wonderful. If it weren't for the fact that an entire fort had been wiped out, this would have been an assignment more suited for a band of hapless adventurer types to get themselves killed investigating. Still, some action was better than none at all. Hopefully, there would be more individual opportunities to raise one's star throughout this. For now, there was still the task at hand to attend to.

And wouldn't one know it, Dame Tyaethe seemed to know something about what was going on here. Sometimes, the goddesses managed to cut him a break. If it weren't for the need to show solidarity in front of the mercenaries, Renar would have already been needling her to cut her temper tantrum short and get to the point already. He'd still do so, of course. Just more politely.

"Well, well, well." Renar looked to Fionn and Gerard. "Congratulations, you two. It seems we'll finally fulfill your dreams of killing as many Golden Boars as possible one of these days. In the meantime..." His gaze shifted to Tyaethe in turn. "Dame Tyaethe. What can you tell us about this threat we're facing? Judging by your reaction, you have at least some idea of what's going on here."

Kayliss Lambert

This was getting more tiresome than it already was. And Kayliss regarded this entire situation as utterly so. The fact that the doll wasn't finished even with its primary armament disabled wasn't surprising, but still irritating. If Kayliss didn't have to actually face the damned thing herself, she'd say it was simply good design. But considering she was on the other end of it at the moment? Her temptation to hurl a blade at the Witch herself instead was growing by the second.

Fortunate that she only had to deal with one arm while Velvetica and Urden were dealing with the other two. Kayliss stepped back from the initial strike, bringing her short sword up to parry the next few. The commander's orders were sensible, yet vexing for her personally. Kayliss wasn't exactly equipped for outright destroying something, especially wood. In this scenario, her best chance to fulfill her orders was to create an opening for someone better suited to the situation to make use of. Such as the archer that had made such an impressive hole in the doll to begin with.

The bladed limb came in again, and Kayliss raised both her short sword and dagger to catch it between them this time. With a grunt of exertion, she twisted her blades, aiming to disarm the doll of its latest weapon. In that window, hopefully one of the others would spot the opportunity and take it.
Ranbu no Izayoi

Cleanup after the battle was brief. They collected Goug from his hiding place, Neve treated what wounds the party took, and they moved on several paces, not wanting to settle down to camp for the night amidst Blightbeast corpses. As a result, the party continued to ride for a few more paces, stopping to create another clearing when it was closer to sundown.

For all his pageantry, Lord Leonhardt certainly hadn't spared any expense when it came to supplying the teams. When the party finally had the chance to make camp, they found that everything the average traveling group would need had been accounted for. Tents, bedrolls, trail rations, skins of heavily watered alcohol, and more. Although it still rankled at her to take the generosity of what had been a mortal enemy to her just half a decade ago, Izayoi nonetheless made use of the supplies without complaint.

Once the tents were set up, Team Kirin found themselves sitting down over dinner outside. A fire was out of the question, considering the utterly flammable grass around them. Furthermore, there wasn't much to forage either. So they were settling for the rations that had been packed in the wagon. Smoked sausages, hard cheeses, dried fruits, honey, and biscuits of hard travel bread. All in all, while it was no substitute for a hot meal, Izayoi had certainly eaten worse on the road in her time.

She hungrily scarfed down her portion of the rations, utterly uncaring of manners now that they weren't in a formal setting. Afterwards, she glanced up, starting to speak even if some others were still eating.

"We've not sorted out the watch order yet. I will volunteer to take first watch. Do we intend on having three or four watches throughout the night?" She asked of the group as a whole, though her gaze turned to Galahad, given that he was the one in charge.

Renar Hagen

Quite the motley crew. By appearance alone, they were likely dangerous. The girl in the frilly dress most of all. Renar didn't know any of them by name or appearance, possibly by reputation from what Gerard and Fionn had said in the past, but such a getup only pointed to mage. Any good battlefield tactic demanded that mages be eliminated from the board first, given their ability to turn the tide of battle with but a single good spell. The others were a concern to get past, of course, but it depended on who managed to sucker-punch the other first.

But enough about planning to kill people the instant he met them. The captain seemed amenable to an alliance, though Renar doubted she would take adequate precautions in case of betrayal. Just because he was willing to work with them, doesn't mean he was going to trust that they were on the level. For that matter, the First and Youngest did speak sense.

"I also concur with Dame Tyaethe. For the sake of this brief alliance going smoothly, it would be in both our best interests if you answered honestly about what you were doing here." Renar said before walking off to the side, gripping Fionn's shoulder and starting to whisper in his ear. To an outsider, it would seem that he was trying to restrain the man from being more hostile. In reality...

"Let this go through. If the worst occurs, we'll have our blades at their backs first." He whispered as quietly as possible.

Salvator Rasch

"League systems?" Salvator replied to the Tarrhaidim as they made their way back towards their ride. "I've had to use a few in my time. Shouldn't be too hard to turn the artillery against the opfor as long as we have firing coordinates."

The team made good time, riding in the warform once more. Of course, that didn't take away from Rasch's growing irritation at the constantly-buzzing communicator. It would have been one thing if there was anything to be gained from it at the moment, but evidently, it hadn't been able to lock on to a signal for the entire damn ride. Void take him, that buzzing was more annoying than the artillery and aircraft all around them.

When Echo's warform stopped due to treacherous terrain, Salvator was the first one out, landing from the vehicle in a crouch as he surveyed the surrounding area.

"What the hell happened here?" He murmured to himself, starting to investigate the corpses. Whatever the predominant species on this battlefield was, either he wasn't familiar with it or their bodies were too mangled for him to make out with any degree of accuracy. On the bright side, something did stick out to him during his search of the bodies: a combat shotgun, and a decent amount of slugs to go with it. Salvator quickly mag-locked the shotgun to the back of his armor before pocketing the ammo. Considering they were going for a direct assault soon, he'd need the extra firepower. In the meantime...

His search was interrupted by the increased blinking of the communicator. Out of irritation, he jerked back to glare at the damn thing, only to notice the red light followed by a transmission. Metaphorical alarm bells began ringing in his mind. This was already a kill-box, and they'd just stepped into it. Fuck.

"Get to cover, now!" Salvator barked at the rest of the squad, already booking it behind one of the rubble piles. "Possible contact!"
Gonna express interest. I know the broad strokes of BattleTech lore, but not many of the specifics. Not too familiar with actually building mechs outside a few of the games, either.

That all said, if we're starting with shitcans, please let UrbanMechs be available.
@Darkmoon Angel About how many people are you hoping to get before starting? Think the month long interval between intcheck to OOC might've caused some people to lose interest or forget about it.
